IWeb audio won't play in Safari, but will in firefox

I made a website in iWeb '09 but when i visit the site in safari 4 a quicktime logo shows up where the audio (song) should be and doesn't play. But in firefox it works fine, anyone know what's up?

I had a similar problem, I'll tell you how I solved it.  Understand that I am a newbie at video editing and Premiere Pro.  I shot videos on a DSLR (.mov) and then transferred them to my computer.  I then imported them into Premiere CS6.  The videos played fine, and the sound bars indicated that audio was playing, but there was no sound.  The clips I imported played fine in Windows Media Player.  I did everything suggested on the forums, but to no avail.  Then I thought of something no one else had suggested, and it worked!
I ordered my Rain Stratus computer already set up with Premiere CS6 installed.  When I opened a new project, it by default chose Black Magic Design presets, since that is the video card I have.  Being a newbie, I just went with that.  But since the video I was importing was not captured by my Black Magic video card, it was the wrong choice.  It took awhile to figure out, but I finally realized I needed to choose Digital SLR as the sequence preset when I created a new project.  Then the audio worked!
One more thing I had to do, though, before it worked: in PremierePro, go to Edit/Preferences/Audio Hardware.  I had to change the hardware from Black Magic Audio to Premiere Pro WDM Sound, click ASIO settings, choose my speakers, and then check the box marked "device 32-bit playback" (even thought I have a 64-bit computer.)
I hope that helps someone else from going through the same frustration.

  • Quicktime in iweb page won't play in safari, but does play in firefox

Some people (but not all) report problems going to this webpage
    http://web.me.com/michael_grenadier/Loudon/TheCharliePooleProject.html
The quicktime doesn't play, just a quicktime icon.
I just checked it on my macbookpro and that's what happens, but it loads and plays fine in firefox.
    Any ideas/solutions?

It's bad design to put more than one movie on a page. Even my local cinema knows that.
It takes some time, sometimes a lot of time, to load the movies.
And since you don't provide a link to the page, its hard to tell what the problem might be.

  • Imported Songs Won't Play in iTunes, but will on iPod

I recently imported many songs from a hard drive into my iTunes library. I then updated my iPod with these additions. The songs play on my iPod but will not play in iTunes, or allow me to create a playlist containing these songs. I get a message saying that "the song _______ could not be used because the original file could not be found."
When I reconnect the hard drive, the songs play, but when it is disconnected, they won't. I tried to "authorize computer", but that didn't do anything.
Any suggestions for how to fix this issue?
    Thanks.

Are you saying you have music on an external drive and it won't play if the drive is not plugged in?
You are not very clear with your question, but I wonder if you tried to add them to your library on your internal drive. If so take a look at:
    Edit>Preferences>Advanced>General
Is "Copy files to Itunes Music folder when adding to library" checked? If not the songs would be left on the external drive.
If this is the case, you could plug in your external drive and then consolidate your library. This will copy ALL files not in your iTunes Music folder into the iTunes Music folder.
If you intentionally keep some of your music outside the iTunes Music folder you may want to think about the implications before using Consolidate.

  • My Iphone 4 won't play video's but will play the sound

    Hello everyone,
A little while ago I started to get trouble when I tried to watch videos on youtube.
When I click on a video it will start loading and the gray bar that indicates how far the video has loaded will say that the video has loaded but when I press play the video gets very low fps, but the sound of the video works fine.
I have tried watching youtube on safari but it still has the same problem.
I also reinstalled the youtube app but again with no success.
The same problem happens with video's on facebook.
I have an Iphone 4 with IOS 7.04
Does anyone have the same problem or knows how to fix it?

Hi. i faced the exact same problem  i cant even charge my iphone 4s while it is on. The iOS is 6.1
All this while the iphone 4s works perfectly.
    i) Last week, when i try to charge the phone (using my laptop), i realize that it wont charge.
ii) i try to clean the iphone charging port, with the idea that may be its too dirty/ dusty at the charging port. When i connect the charger to my iphone, it wont charged.
iii) Then, instead of connecting the USB cable to my laptop, i try to connect directly to the power plug, but it still wont charge.
iv) So i thought that may be the problem is the cable it self. So i went to Machines (Authorised Apple Products) and bought a new USB cable, However my iphone still wont charge.
So at night the battery is fully drained and empty, i try to connect the phone while it is OFF, and in the morning, when i wake up, the phone have been fully charged (100%).
So i thought the phone is ok now. When i reach at the office and try to charge the phone again, then i realize, my iPhone wont charge while it is on. it will only charge when it is off. i cant even restore it as my iphone cannot be connected to itunes while it is on.
Anyone having the same problem? Hope you guys can help.

I tried to play some video clips at fox news.com but on Safari it continuosly tres to load. In firefox it works fine. I have all the patches updates... newest flash, flip 4 mac , quicktime 7.4.. anyone have any ideas??

I just tried to play the video on fox news again and this time it worked. I'm new to macs and have no idea why it wouldn't play in safari before.. • Iweb won't work on Safari but WILL work on Firefox!

This is a good one. I just updated my iweb page. It said it was uploaded successful and do I want to visit, announce or 'ok' (you know). Anyway, I said "visit now" and the updates showed up fine. BUT when I typed in my website directly into a URL using Safari, the updates were NOT there! BUT when I typed it in directly using Firefox, the updates were there! HUH?
So to recap, it shows updates from "visit now" and from directly typing in the address into the URL using Firefox....but not using Safari. Anyone know why Safari is such a baby?

which version of safari are you using? In safari 4 it's under the 'safari' menu 'empty cache'. Can't remember where it was in earlier versions! In firefox it's under prefs/network. You should always clear your cache when updating. Browsers remember things so it takes less time to load, but if you update then it might reach for the old info. In fact... I clear my cache a few times a day depending on what sites I am visiting and if I am updating my own sites.
upper vs lower case letters... make sure you type the url exactly as you have named it in iweb. case sensitivity matters. IE: www.yourname.com/page1 vs www.yourname.com/Page1

  • Audio won't play in Premiere, but plays in QT, FCP, and Adobe Bridge.

    Hi everyone,
I'm normally pretty good at troubleshooting, but this audio issue has me scratching my head.  A cameraman had DVCPro tapes transferred to QT movies.  All the clips playback fine if opened with QT, FCP, and Adobe Bridge.  Import these clips into Premiere and there's no audio.  Nothing shows up on waveform- there's nothing there.
I would switch to FCP, but I already started the project in Premiere (CS 5.5) with earlier footage- which were mxf files right off the P2 card.  That works fantastic.  The footage I'm having an issue with was footage that was just shot recently on DVCPro tapes- so switching to FCP isn't the most time efficient.  But I'll do it if I have to.
What confuses me the most is that the clips play back fine in Adobe Bridge, so I don't think it's a codec issue.
Thanks in advance for any help or advice getting to the bottom of this.

  • Swf gallery (Actionscript 3) won't play in Safari or IE, only FireFox

I have a flash gallery I created using Flash CS4 and Actionscript 3. It plays perfectly in FireFox, but in IE and Safari it just shows me a blank space on the page where the gallery should be. As a test I uninstalled Flash Player, and FireFox and Safari showed me the message that a newer version of Flash was needed along with a link to get it, but IE showed nothing. Now that Flash is re-installed, only FireFox actually loads/plays the gallery. With IE it doesn' tmatter if I use the 32-bit or 64-bit, or if compatibility mode is on or off. I tried republishing with Flash 9 set instead of Flash 10, but that made no difference. It fails with the HTML file generated out of Flash, as well as the page I created in Dreamweaver and used the Insert Media command to insert the .swf:
http://www.arttoharmony.com/sales/Art-To-Harmony-Gallery.html (auto-generated HTML out of Flash)
    http://www.arttoharmony.com/sales/index.php (Dreamweaver page)
I'm using all the latest browsers, Windows 7 (64-bit), Dreamweaver and Flash CS4. A couple of years ago when I had CS3, I created a similar gallery using Actionscript 2, and it continues to work fine in all 3 browsers:
    http://somerset-silver.com/Gallery.html
I'd appreciate any ideas to get this working in Safari and IE (not only the gallery to load, but the Flash Player detection to work properly in IE). I'm a very infrequent Flash user, so I was hoping it was something obvious, but I can't find the problem.
    thanks,
    Luann

I just tried with IE and its working fine
    even i use windows 7.
use 32bit IE and check if any other flash media (like youtube, etc.. ) is working fine on it?

  • Videos won't play in iTouch, but will in iTunes.

Before I upgraded, I was able to play all my videos (properly formatted of course), on my iTouch. Now with the software upgrade, I am able to play the videos in iTunes, but when I attempt to play them on the iTouch, it says "This movie could no be played. I've deleted videos, then re added them with the same results.

I am having the exact same problem. I am getting very aggrivated with all the "issues" I have had with my iTouch since getting it. I am considering taking it back to the store.
Scott, did you get yours to play. Online manuals, etc. say to check the format. I have done that...they are the right type. I'm clueless as to what to do next? Please help!!!

  • Quicktime won't play on Mac but will on windows.  Help.

Hello. I'm trying to help a student who's taking an online class using Course Compass. She is on a Mac using 10.6 and I'm using 10.5. Neither of us can get the videos in the course to work. The Quicktime plug in is getting activated, but nothing plays. Strangely enough, the play just fine on Windows. Here is one of the videos: http://www.mathxl.com/Info/MediaMov.aspx?movurl=http%3a%2f%2fmedia.pearsoncmg.co m%2faw%2fawbittinger_prealgebra_5%2fvideo%2fbpa05_0304e05MSTR.mov
    Thanks for any help!

I see a box that says "Show legacy codecs" but when I check it nothing happens.
Believe this setting is to enable named list access of the legacy codecs for encoding purposes -- not playback.
As far as I know, you should have playback access under Leopard without having to do anything more. However, this assumes that you are, in fact, receiving the data stream. BTW: this is an RTS (Real Time Streaming) file, so make sure your streaming/transport protocols are properly set.
As to Snow Leopard, I am still unsure if legacy access is handled solely by the dual 32-/34-bit structure embedded in the OS in conjunction with the QTkit or whether the QT 7.6.3 Player must also be installed. (Since I was a QT Pro user, this was all done automatically for me when I upgraded to Snow Leopard.) As to streaming the file to Snow Leopard, I was unable to get the file to stream at all with either QT X or QT v7.6.3. (I.e., it simply keeps "negotiating" with the server until it is finally timed out.) Since many users have complained of streaming problems on a hit or miss basis, I am, for the nuance, considering this to be a Snow Leopard issue.

  • Google won't work in Safari but works in FireFox?!

For the past couple of days, after doing a few searches in the Google search bar, it suddenly stops working and I get the following error message instead of Google:
Safari can’t open the page “http://www.google.com/” because it can’t find the server “www.google.com”.
If I type in www.google.com in the address bar, I get the same thing.
I'm able to search Google in Firefox and visit the site no problem.
This is VERY strange. Any idea what it could be? I reset Safair (emptied cache, cookies, etc) and doesn't fix it.

Can you take your Mac somewhere else (next door neighbour using a different ISP, or to work or something) and use the internet connection there, and do you get a different/better result there?
It sounds like you've checked all the "obvious things", and are still getting sites not found or really slow to resolve (that is when the blue progress bar in Safari stops about where the first w in www in the address bar is before the page starts to appear).
If so, something you could try fairly quickly and which has brought relief to rather a lot of people with similar-sounding issues, is you could try changing the DNS server settings on your Mac to use a different provider. NB: I'm not sure what it is that makes the difference, but something seems to have been changed in OS X which makes the Mac work badly with some ISP's DNS services, even when a PC (or a Mac running an older OS X version) is still working just fine on the same network and using the same DNS. I use the DNS servers from www.opendns.com, which are 208.67.222.222 and 208.67.220.220, but people have had good success with other providers too, I just can't remember the names or addresses offhand. Try specifying those in the network configuration on your Mac itself, or on your router if you want to change it for all machines on your network, and see if it suddenly fixes those issues for you.

  • Vids won't run with Safari, but work with FireFox just fine

I can't get vids to run with Safari. Where the vid is supposed to be, on YouTube etc, it's just blank. They run fine with FireFox, though. I don't mind using FireFox, its a great browser. I just don't like the idea of something being wrong with my MacBook.

Make sure your plug-ins are enabled in Safari (preferences) and that you're not using Rosetta mode (Get Info window).

  • .swf won't play when published, but will in DW

I had posted this a few days ago, any help would be greatful, thanks so much.
first off, I have looked just  about everywhere else to find this problem and no other solutions have  worked yet.
    here's  the problem
    I have 4 pages
3 are made from templates and  one isn't
on the template ones, I have a .swf and when I publish  it, it plays.
on the non-template homepage, I have a .swf file and  when it is published, it doesn't load at all.
    I have tried many things.
    -  build a new .swf and place it in there
    - rebuild the homepage
    -  make the homepage into a template and then put the flash in
    - and  probably some other things
the file name is correct, the source name is  correct ( /folder_name/file_name.fla)
it is correctly in  dreamweaver and when I preview everything works.
any help  would be greatly appreciated...I really don't want to start over from  the beginning just to see if it works.

    thanks so much,

  • Flash 10 won't install on IE but will on FireFox

This is the oddest thing. I can get Flash 10 to install in FireFox, but not with IE. When I download it, and try to install outside of a browser, I get a 'failed to register' message. It seems I cannot get anything on IE past Flash 7 to install. Running IE 8. System is Asus motherboard, Athlon 64x2 dual core 2.81 GHz, 3 gigs RAM, nVidia GeForce GTX 9800-plus card with XP Profession OS.
    Any suggestions?

Thank you very much, your suggestion led me to the solution.  There were TWO NPSWF32.dll files, one in a folder ...\Macromed\Flash and one in ....\Macromedia\Flash.  Evidently, no matter how often I downloaded the new version, the old version was used instead.  I deleted the old directory with the old NPSWF32.dll file and now everything works perfectly.  When I check the version I get the 10 version as desired.  Thanks again--evidently just clicking on Update is not enough, if there is an old file lurking.

  • Embedded audio file won't play in Safari

I'm trying to plan an embedded audio file in safari, but it just never loads. Similar files on the same page are marked 'Flash 9 is required to listen to audio' - I have listened to these files before without any problems.
I have Flash 11.5 installed, have tried uninstalling/reinstalling Flash and all the fixes for when YouTube videos won't play in Safari but to no avail.
    Any suggestions?

You will really need to upload it if you want someone to help you troubleshoot the problem.  It could be any number of reasons.
If and when you do upload, make sure that you upload the supporting folder that is created when you create a swf on a page.
