IWeb background disappeared

I saved an iWeb site to a folder, checked its contents, all OK. But then when I upload it with TRANSMIT, a page background disappears! Later, on re-checking the folder, it actually made it disappear in the folder too! Like magic!
I have tried erasing the old folder and creating a new one, uploading it again, and the same thing happens! Any ideas?

Sorry to hear your work is lost. This is not a typical Apple experience overall but unfortunately it is typical in this scenario. When or if you have saved your iWeb outside the default file folder Library/Application Support/iWeb, when Apple updates iWeb it often forgets where you were pointing iWeb to originally.
This is the third time it has happened to me, luckily this last time I didn't count on Apple to live up to their brand promise (they usually do, but of all things not to, people's pictures, memories and websites are something you don't want to mess with as you all know).
I backed up my site using Time Machine, unfortunately the last back up was April 27th so I'm still losing months of blogs about my daughter (which someday I was hoping to share with her when she's older). Disappointing that they can't get this right for a few people.
If you moved your domain.sites or domain.sites2 files to another location aside from the default you can try to find them and double click them to open. If you can't find them, you're SOL without a back up. All in all, my only terrible heartbreaking experience on a Mac.

  • Page background disappears for a moment on page turn in pdf

In indesign my document has a gradient page background (created in indesign) on the master page to make it look like a book. But when the page is turned in pdf, the background disappears for a moment, leaving the page white, then the background appears again; it does this nearly every time page is turned, flashing white. Does this have to do with pdf or indesign layers? I have only 1 layer in the indesign document, and transparency blend space is set to rgb.

Everytime you change the page Acrobat needs to redraw all of the page elements. The dealy is probably a reflection of the amount off video memory available, as much as anything.

  • Pictures in iWeb albums disappeared after change location of original files

I created many albums in iWeb by dragging albums from iPhoto. But then I noticed some pictures from my iWeb albums disappeared after the original pictures got removed to another location (or deleted). How can I tell iWeb to make a copy of the pictures in iWeb itself so my iWeb albums can stay the same even when i need to reorganize the original files on the hard drive?
Any suggestions on how to restoring my albums in iWeb? I am having a bit headache now. Thank you very much!

That is not normal behavior. The photos should stay in iWeb even if you delete them from iPhoto. Are you running a "referenced" library or a "managed" one?
Managed is the default option. If you're running a reference library that may be the reason. If so contact Apple via http://www.apple.com/feedback/iweb.html and http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphoto.html.
Unless you have a backup of your domain file predating the loss of the photos I don't know how you will recover the photos.

  • Background disappears after adding a cross dissolve to a keyed clip.

I have a clip that has a Keying filter (as well as being cropped and scaled down) on it over a white background. After adding a Cross Dissolve to the keyed clip, the white background disappears for the duration of the Cross Dissolve, leaving a black background behind the keyed clip. This black background is present both in preview and after rendering.
    Any advice?

not positive this will help, but try this:
    remove the transition
right-click and sselect "make compound clip" (or Option G)
within the compound clip, drop a white solid under the keyed clip; do not place any transitions at either end of the compound clip.
return to your storyline / sequence
place your transition again and see if it's fixed
if you still do not have a clean dissolve, remove the transition and then click once on the compound clip and go to around 8 or 12 frames before the end and in the inspector, go to the opacity and add a keyframe and then arrow right to the frame before the last frame and add another keyframe and drag the opacity value to zero.

  • Black background disappear on grid, stack.

when i click my stack which show as grid, the black background disappeared. Directly showing the desktop background, anyone help?

I am having this same issue. No more grey background for a stack or fan. Just totally transparent. Also the little 'Abbey Road' lines separating the apps from the stacks come and goes at random. Not cool.

  • Why iWeb will disappear ?

I want by a new Macbook pro 15" with Lion and I heard that in iLife application you do not have more iWeb!
Did iweb will disappear or it will be replaced by something better?

iWeb is no longer part of new iLife packages. Nobody knows if there'll be a new Apple equivalent.
However, if you have iWeb from an earlier installation of iLife, you can install it on the new Mac and it'll work fine.
Note also that iCloud will no longer offer website publishing, so you'll need to find your own hosting solution. (iWeb will publish to any FTP server you like.)

  • ITunes background disappeared!

I'm not sure what happened here, but the background for iTunes has disappeared. I can still see the songs and menu, more or less, but I'm seeing my desktop (or whatever window I have open) in the background. This is a pain, because I can't drag and drop anything to or manage my iPod. Not to mention, it looks terrible. When it's running in minimized mode it's literally invisible.
Does anyone have an idea of what I can do? I've uninstalled and reinstalled and nothing works.
    PC   Windows 2000

    (sorry to butt in Jose.)
the first thing i check on with a "transparent" iTunes like this on a Windows 2000 box is an out of date version of DirectX. (when folks get this on XP, it typically tends to be a broken DirectX, which is somewhat more difficult to deal with.)
so check to see if your DirectX is up to date. here's the relevant Microsoft download page:
    Microsoft DirectX
if no joy with that, it can help to update you video drivers. see:

  • Iweb background stretches when objects are moved around the page

Hello, I am creating a simple site in iWeb and I cannot get my background image to be consistent through all of my pages. What I mean is the position of the image varies slightly through the pages. In my home page (and all of my other pages)the background is set to "Image Fill" and "Scale to Fill", and the page sizes are all the same at 700px wide by 480px high. I have the nav bar and page heading/title positioned exactly the same on all pages also.
I notice that when I move around text boxes that are in a page the background stretches or shrinks depending on the position of the box, and am assuming that this has something to do with it, but like I said before, the navigation and header "text boxes" are all positioned the same. Is there any way to turn off this scaling of the background when moving objects around the page? Or does anyone have any suggestions on how to fix this image and make it consistent through all of my pages? Thanks for your help.

When you set as image as a page background and set it to scale for fill, when you move text downward, extending the length of the page, the image size will change no matter what fill option is used, fit, fill stretch or tile. Using the original size will keep the image exactly the same in all instances but if the page is lengthened beyond the images height you'll get the browser's background to show in the page. But, if you size the image you're using to be taller than any of your pages it will be fixed in all your pages. NOTE: You can use this method only on White and Black blog layouts. However it the blog length gets long it will extend beyond the image height. So set up the image and blog accordingly.
Try using the image for the browser background and set the page background to none. That will keep the image the same for all layouts. If you have a blog you can change the theme to White or Black, depending on the font color needed, and can use the image for browser background method. The image will need to be large enough to fill the browser's window and will be locked at the left edge. That is if the browser window is widened the image will not be centered but set at the left side of the window.

    Thank you!

the website I pulished seems working well in safari and firefox
Are you now saying that the first problem is no longer there? All the pages I visited appeared to be loading fine. As far as getting your site to work the IE see How to get your iWeb Site to load in Internet Explorer. IE is the acknowledged worst browser out there. This site may help you.

  • Where are iWeb backgrounds on my hard drive

I just upgraded to iLife '08 and I like the darkroom backgrounds you can tile and would like to use it in a separate template, but I don't want to change the entire template to darkroom. Where on my hard drive did iLife store these templates so I can choose them from a directory?

    Open folder Application
Rightclick iWeb and choose +Show Package content+
    Open folder Content
    Open folder Resources
    Open folder Themes
    Rightclick Darkroom.webtheme and choose +Show Package content+
    Open folder Shared
    Voila.
Edit: Also, when you publish a iWeb site to a folder on your HD, the Darkroom_spotlight.jpg is in the pagename_files folder.

  • Menu Background Disappearing

    Hi!!
I was wondering if someone could help me with a Flash question. We had this menu designed for us:
    Catalina
I am trying to update the menu in this fla file:
    http://www.catalinasouthbeach.com/swf/catalina-menu-new.fla
But for some reason when I go to export the menu with my changes.....the striped background that is supposed to be there on the side disappears. It should look like this when it;s all put together:
    Catalina Website
(Sorry for the loud music so early in the morning)
Am I editing the wrong file? I believe that intro is 2 Flash files put together but I could be wrong.....
    Thank you!!

The reason the menu does not work in the about page is because there is no link to SpryMenuBar.js on the page.

  • IWeb Background(s)

I've noticed that once you create a web page, you can't go back to the templates section and change your page to a different template. It was easy to do this with homepage; am I missing something here? Also, I noticed that someone had done a web page with a seashell background. Though iWeb allows you to customize your background, I don't see any way to add any easy, pre-established backgrounds...so I'm confused. Does iWeb include any pre-established backgrounds for the web pagess?

Okay, I figured out the photo borders. In addition to what you explained, it turns out the Inspector contains borders for objects, so that was a huge help.
Now, I found those iWeb web templates within the application like you said. But is there anything I can do with those? I tried copying them out of the iWeb package and then accessing them as a background via iWeb, but it doesn't allow me to select them as a background. The file type is .webtemplate. I tried changing that extension to .jpg, but then it was just unreadable. It seems like a shame that those backgrounds all exist...but that you can't use them after you've already created a page and then want to change your background. (Of course, you can do this by finding other web templates off the web, e.g., but since they're already provided in iWeb, it seems logical that you should be able to select them as well).
Sorry to tie up your time - you've been a huge help!

  • Whenever I enter a loop point, menu background disappears

I've tried all sorts of combinations of menu duration/hold forever/animate buttons with different time lengths..but no matter what, if I enter a time for Loop Point, the background of my menu disappears.
I got it working once by deleting the menu and redoing everything, but now that doesnt work. Please help! All I'm trying to do is have a chapter menu with each chapter showing a video preview about 5 seconds long. I'm using one of the standard menus provided by Encore.
Does anyone know how to get it to work properly?
    I'm using Encore CS4

Maybe someone can educate both of us on this.
I don't recall where I formed the belief, but I generally do not mix a motion background and animate buttons.  I use a still background with animate buttons.  If I wanted to mix a motion background and animate buttons, I'd do it all in After Effects rather than using Encore for the animate buttons.  (You can in fact mix a motion background and animate buttons in Encore, but it does odd things like the one you are describing.)
I believe the "loop point" refers to the motion background and not animate buttons alone.  So when you set a loop point without a motion asset, you see black behind your buttons.  You can work around this by making a video of your still menu background, and selecting that as your motion asset.
All I see in the help document regarding loop point is for motion menus.

  • Desktop background disappears, Mission Control doesn't work correctly

Sometimes it happens that my desktop background completely dissappears, and Mission Control stops working as well.
It seems to happen when I open a new window in a fullscreen app (like Safari), and while it's opening I switch to another space.
Whenever this happens, my desktop changes to the Dashboard background, and Mission Control doesn't show the other spaces anymore (but you can see active windows in your main space). I've added pictures below.
I can still swipe between spaces, my dock still works and all apps still work in all spaces.
Any way to fix this without rebooting? To avoid this happening (apart from me being more patient)?
This is my desktop at the moment:
    And this is Mission Control:
I am using: Macbook Pro 5,4
    OS X 10.7.1
2,53 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
    4 GB 1067 MHz DDR3

I am experiencing the same thing as most of us, exactly as explained by - Acid_Raccoon.
UK-Max - This is not just a specific problem involving external screens. The dissappearing wallpaper, and loss of function of mission control (do not show spaces, but you can click in empty area where it should be located and it actually works as normal) occurs also when there is no
external screen input involved - You have to restart computer for it to return to normal. As a matter of fact, I am experiencing it right now for the 10th time in 1 week period, and it´s quite annoying. I would guess more than just a few people are experiencing this, and as postmechanical mentioned about having a brand new computer - this shouldn´t occur, and if so should get a fix immediately.
Over time, I have experiencing other system problems produced from installing OS lion. Sure it deliver a few smart, and smooth features, but since more and more bugs are discovered (and not fixed by apple), I am considering returning to snow leopard. For instance, sometimes when my computer goes into screensaver, it can shift to a picture of pixels (black&white) in 4:3 screen ration. This has never occurred before installing Lion. Another thing which is extremely annoying is that since installing lion, my computer refuses to go to sleep when I close my lid. Nothing happens, and it just stays on. I have to manually select in apple-menu to sleep.
I really hope Apple take these notes people have mentioned in this forum (and others) seriously, and fix them. I really hope Apple show more custumer service-spirits, than Apple´s lack of hardware-quality. (I have owned 4 apple computers(1 powerbook G4, 1 macbook & 2 macbook pro), brand new, and 3 of them have experienced hardware-failure on more than one occasion in less than a year. The one that didnt required service was my powerbook G4 titanium, released in 2001, and kept going for 4 years straight without any problems.) (Actually, the last one experienced 3 times in-a-row mother-card failure). I only go for Apple´s products due to its smart and clean features (and seriously PC is not an alternative if you want to stay mentally healthy), but what I´ve been reading on multiple forums over the web, more than a few, experience occuring hardware problems with their Apple computer.
I guess this is the result of Apple trying to push for higher revenues. If Apple keep go in the same directions as it has been doing in the last 4-5 years it will be its doom, and loose the customers that once caught the Apple-wave due to it´s innovative and personal aspect, but most important - it´s superiour quality it once had! Apple´s products is quite expensive, and thus should be combined with its smart and innovative system, along with lasting quality. But if $ revenue is the only thing that keep Apple going nowdays, and produce smart product that is meant to last for only 2-3 years maximum, it is deeply disturbing and the company will loose track of what stevie was initially producing - clean, smooth system (just works, no migraine), with everlasting quality far seen in PC-world. Apple - please consider !
