IWeb changes in site organizer

I have just created a website. I am brand new at this and am of course learning as I go. I finally figured out that I can change the site organizer so that my pages have titles instead of Photo/photo 1/etc. When i change the names it changes in the site organizer but only some of them change on the actual site.
How can I correct this?
Thanks!
France

You have to manually change the titles on the actual
pages, changing it in the site organizer does not do
anything to the page.
Really? I change my page names in the site Organizer all the time and they are reflected in the page titles immediately in iWeb. I can see this happening on my pages that are in the navigation menu....the name changes in the nav menu just as soon as I hit return after changing the name in the site organizer. I thought this was the normal behavior.

  • .Mac "Start Site" not the top site in iWeb site organizer

My first iWeb site I created is for my family stuff. Mildly personal.
My next one will be more friends/work.
But, when I test out the iweb help entry that says the top site in the site organizer is/will be the start site, it does not hold true when I publish them.
    The help says:
Your start site is the one that opens when you type this URL (address) into a browser (don't type the brackets):
    http://web.mac.com/[YourMemberName]
    To change your start site:
Drag the site you want to be the start site so that it appears first in the site organizer.
But, after I publish, the start site is still the old start site. Is this a timing/web cache issue? Or, bug? Or, how can one fix this?

It could be a cache issue, but I think this is less likely. Never hurts to emtpy your browser cache though. I have seen one other person who's sites are stuck like this. Couldn't tell you why. She is stuck using the long URLs to specify each site. Maybe this is a bug in iWeb. I don't know.
But here are some things you could try...switch the order of your sites again in the Site Organizer, publish, switch them back and republish. Or you might try a "Publish ALL to .Mac".
The object here is to get iWeb to generate new index.html files that redirect to your choice of a start page. For a little background, if you look in your iDisk inside the Web folder. There is a folder called Sites. Inside Sites, there is a folder called iWeb. Inside the iWeb folder you will see the first of two redirection index.html files. This first one is what allows the short URL to work...
    http://web.mac.com/yourname/
Now if you open up the site folder inside the iWeb folder, you will see another index.html file among all the other files there. This is the second index.html file that redirects to the same start page as the first. This allows the "long" URL to be used...
    http://web.mac.com/yourname/iWeb/sitefolder/
I have seen situations where either one of these index.html files have not been generated or altered to reflect changes in the Site Organizer...usually the outer index.html file inside the iWeb folder. So anything that you can do to make iWeb publish new files should work....changing the order of your sites, erasing the files from your iDisk and republishing, changing the names of your sites, doing a Publish ALL. Try these things and see if your problem isn't resolved...
If you have found any of this information to be useful to you, please take the time to provide me with feedback by marking my reply as "solved" or "helpful" using those little buttons that you see in the title bar of this reply. I'd really appreciate it!

  • Iweb site organizer

I posted my blog yesterday and today i have run into a problem. My entries are no longer showing in the site organizer, so I have no way to continue posting.

Do you see another little triangle to the left of the word "Blog" in your site organizer? When you drop it down it should show the word "Entries" underneath it.
Other ideas....the little space that usually lists all your blog entries, that space is adjustable...you can drag it open or almost closed using the little dot that you see on the bottom border of that partition.

  • Teachers sharing one dot mac with iWeb need help- sites are being lost

Sorry to be lengthy- Here's the question and issue first and then the background.
Question/Issue: Anyone know a way we can have multiple people (eventually 20 or so) with their own computers creating sites in iWeb and publishing them to a common dot mac account without wiping each other out?
Background:I am a teacher and at our school we have a single dot mac account. A few of us have been using iWeb (2 on iWeb 08 and 1 on iWeb 06) and posting our sites to dot mac with no problems. The iWeb 06 sites went to a folder under Web> Sites>iWeb in our dot-mac's iDisk; the iWeb 08 sites were directly under the Web>Sites folder. When sites were uploaded from different computers there was no problem (they all had unique names) and it worked great until this week.Even the 2 users both on iWeb 08 could send their sites to the iDisk and nothing would be deleted, just more site folders were added.
We are now all on iWeb 08 and so nothing goes into the folder on the dot-mac's iDisk under iWeb, they all go as unique sites- no problem I thought.
Our problem is now that when any one of us update our sites, it wipes out everyone else's site (since their site isn't on our computer). It didn't used to be that way 2 weeks ago !!! Could this be something new with the migration to mobile me (if it is, this really ***** for us)
I know a solution is to publish the sites to folders and then drag to the dot mac in sub-folders under Web>Sites instead of publish and each of us can have our own folder, but its a pain and not all of the teachers will be able to do this.
I think there is a feature in iWeb06 called personal domains, but I think we can only have 2, so not sure if this will help.
Does anyone know a way to set the defaults in the domain.sites2 file or in iWeb so it will use a sub-folder when loading up to dot mac? This way each of us can have our settings different and it will load for us automatically on the iDisk.
Does anyone know why this used to work and now it doesn't?
    Any other ideas- Help Please

    From my own experience.
When you publish to dotMac the index.html file in the root redirects to the top Site in the list of the iWeb domain file.
I use ca. 40 Sites in some 30 domain files. And most are customized after publishing. Plus a lot more irregular stuff.
iWeb remembers what Site in which domain was published last.
When I choose a different domain file, iWeb will create a new index.html file to redirect to the "new" Site.
As far as I could determine, none of the either published Sites are deleted. If iWeb did delete previous published Sites I would not change domain files.
In your case the following will happen. Every student publishes his/her Site(s). The last one published will be the default Site.
As long as no-one changes his/her Sitename or add a new Site at the top of the list, the default Site last published will be that.
Make sure everybody's Sitename is unique.
I use a custom index.html file in the root. So I have to pay attention that when I publish a new site, the custom index.html page is overwritten. I keep a copy of that index.html file in the root. I can replace the index.html file in case of emergency.
Does anyone know a way to set the defaults in the domain.sites2 file or in iWeb so it will use a sub-folder when loading up to dot mac? This way each of us can have our settings different and it will load for us automatically on the iDisk.
Don't look for hidden settings. If it was possible, it would be visible in the preferences. Accept the way iWeb/dotMac does its job. It wasn't designed to be used by multiple users with multiple computers and only one account. That should give you a hint.
All other problems are purely organizational. Personally I wouldn't trust multiple persons on one account. Give them their own account. If they mess up things they are responsible. Or find another solution.

  • Changing domain site name

How do you change the domain url to http://Iweb.domainname.com. Now my web site comes up as something like this, http://web.mac.com/xxxx/iWeb/Hurds%20Words%20and%20Birds/Welcome.html. That's way too hard for anyone to remember. I'm new to iweb so please excuse me if this has been posted and answered before.
    chrd

There is an alternative, shorter URL available without forwarding an external domain name to your .Mac address. The most basic address for your iWeb content at .Mac is http://web.mac.com/xxxx where xxxx is your .Mac user name. This is all that is needed to open the topmost ('home') page of the topmost site in iWeb's Site Organizer.
Home pages for additional sites are accessed using http://web.mac.com/xxxx/iWeb/sitename.

  • IWeb Creates Extra "Site" Directory When I Publish Using FTP

My website URL is, http://mysite.verizon.net/eboggess. My site is "eboggess." When I publish my "site" to my ftp server at Verizon, I get the following directory structure, which includes an extra "site" directory (eboggess): http://mysite.verizon.net/eboggess/eboggess/Welcome.html. I want to get rid of the extra eboggess directory. Is there a way to publish just the contents of my "site" directory to the Verizon ftp server, so that I have a sensible web root? Thanks.

Guess I'll have to tell him to rename his site into something really pointless, like "p", to make the url be domain.tld/username/p/index.html
The url he gives people for his site should just be domain.tld/username, right?
As for what appears in the browser address bar, I always wonder why that matters to anyone, but the way iWeb works, complete iWeb sites always show the site name. iWeb's ftp does not have an option to upload incomplete sites. If you want to get rid of the site name, you must manually change the site structure either before or after uploading. If you do that, any RSS subscribe links will not work. Another option may be to forward www.domain.com to www.domain.com/sitename.
Apple can be asked to provide more ftp options in future iWeb updates via this link:

  • Change of site for Ironport

if I have an Ironport in the U.S. with active smarnet support and desire to bring him to Colombia, that I make stand still active in the new country and if this means paying additional value due to changes in site and within the portal Cisco I see the new site.

    Sure thing!
    So, the website's address is:
    1) www.newtpoint.co.uk
When navigated to, it used to go to:
    2) http://www.newtpoint.co.uk/Newt_Point_-_updates_sometimes/latest.html
Which now comes up as 404, because I changed it to:
    3) http://www.newtpoint.co.uk/webcomic/Newt_Point.html
When visiting 3) it comes up fine, but going to 1) attempts to navigate to 2), which is no good, because it no longer exists. 3) represents the first page in iWeb; i.e.
But it still messes up and goes to the 404. I've looked on the FTP area and everything seems fine, but it's still doing it.
    Thanks,
    Jimbo

  • Is there a way to only upload iWeb changes? I am not using MobileMe.

Is there a way to only upload iWeb changes? I am not using MobileMe.

One method you can use, along with optimizing your website for increased loading efficiency in browsers, is to publsh to a folder on your hard drive and use  Web Site Maestro to optimize and upload only the new or modified files with its Smart Handling feature.
If you publish to a folder you can use the synchronizing feature of Cyberduck, help/en/howto/sync – Cyberduck, to upload only those new or changed files.

  • Iweb password protected site has errors

I password protected my site on iweb in the site inspector awhile ago (and published this change).
I go to Safari, and go to my site.
It asks for the password which I put in correctly. I don't check off "remember in my keychain."
It then displays another pop-up that says:
To view this page, you need to log in to area “idisk.mac.com” on web.mac.com:80.
I then enter in my username/password again, and it keeps popping this window open.
I usually end up quitting Safari to get rid of this error.
I tried these steps with just clicking Cancel instead of adding username/password on the idisk pop-up, and it still keeps popping the login window.
So, I tried to login my website on Firefox, and there was no problem whatsoever. I put the username/password in, and it went to the site.
What could be causing the error in Safari?

Have you tried deleting the iWeb preference file, com.apple. iWeb.plist, that resides in your User/Library/Preferences folder and then try again.
Additionally, the following was posted on the MacInTouch site yesterday. Although for a different problem the fact that it clears the MobileMe preferences it may help in your case.

After waiting a day for the rolling restore to happen, I called AppleCare because Apple had sent an email saying my service was back, and it wasn't. I still could send and not receive using Mail.
Here is what fixed it. Go to MobileMe (terrible name) in System Preferences, log out. Then enter a garbage name and password and try to log in. This apparently clears the MobileMe preferences. Then enter your real UserName and PassWord. For me this was lights on.
I am left wondering how long ago I could have had email had I known this preference reset scheme."
As they say, any port in a storm.

  • In outlook 2010 can you change the meeting organizer?

I need to subsitute a co-worker as the organizer of a meeting setup in Outlook 2010.  Can/How do I do that?

    Hi Brenda,
    James is right.
We are unable to change the meeting organizer, unless delete the meeting request, and let the new organizer send the meeting request again.
    Thanks,
    Evan

  • My changes made in "Organize Bookmarks" used to be automatically saved, now they are NEVER saved, and not button to specify "save"

It used to be that i could make changes such as sorting of folder bookmark listings in "organize bookmarks" and they would occur immediately in my Firefox browser. Now, for some reason, every time i make these changes in the Organize Bookmarks screen, nothing i've changed has any effect on my Firefox browser. There is no place in "organize bookmarks" to force a save, so there's no way for me to implement the changes. Don't understand why this worked before and does not now.

See http://kb.mozillazine.org/Sorting_and_rearranging_bookmarks_-_Firefox and [[Sorting bookmarks]] |
    SortPlaces: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/9275
The Views menu in the Bookmarks Manager (Bookmarks > Organize Bookmarks) is for displaying the bookmarks in different sorting orders (hence the name Views) and doesn't sort bookmarks permanently.

  • Changing the Site URL of a Sharepoint site changes the content type order

    Description
Changing the Site URL of a Sharepoint site changes the content type order of all lists that
    * contain folder content types
    * and have a custom content type order
    * where a folder content type is the first content type in order.
    Reproducible behaviour
    1. Create a Team Site in Sharepoint
    2. Create a Task List "Test" on the Team Site
    3. Go to List Settings
    4. The Content Type order is by default
        a. Task
        b. Summary Task
    5. Change the Content Type Order to
        a. Summary Task
        b. Task
    6. Go To Site Settings "Title, description and icon"
    7. Change the Site Url
    8. Go To List "Test" List Settings
    9. The Content Type order now is
        a. Task
        b. Summary Task
    10. Select "Change New button order and default content type"
    11. Here, the Content Type order still is
        a. Summary Task
        b. Task
Is this a bug? Has anyone noticed this behaviour before?
    Kind Regards,
    Joachim

    Hi Joachim,
You are not missing something or doing something wrong. i Hope :). This behavior is reproductible.
The granularity of change is better by Powershell. But by the interface is most user-friendly.
Maybe that's the reason of this behavior.

  • Mea Culpa - Internet Explorer now renders my iWeb 2 test site correctly?

After umpteen server tweaks I finally got my iWeb 2 test site uploaded
    http://www.mjweber.com/mjwredsite/mjweber/welcome.html
It displayed as designed in Safari on my MBP. I then fired up XP in Parallels and loaded the site in Internet Explorer. I didn't expect it to work but it did. Now I'm really stymied!
I've had numerous compatibility issues with iWeb 2 and IE in the past week paralleled here by hundreds of other posts here. Now, when I finally upload the site, it suddenly works?
Either the Internet gods are playing with me or the IE incompatibility stems from launching a published iWeb 2 folder from a local XP hard drive. That's where my navigation menus didn't display. What else can I say? I'm going to have a drink.
I'd appreciate independent site validations by anyone not using Safari or OS X... Linux, Unix, Windows, Netscape, IE, etc. Thanks!
    http://www.mjweber.com/mjwredsite/mjweber/welcome.html

Hi thanks for the advice, the text is centred vertically , left aligned and there is plenty of space at the end. I will try increasing width/height but not sure if that will help as box is already much bigger than text.
In fact it works perfectly on another web page ...thats what surprising ....even the html for the two pages is identical from what we can see!
    Take a look at
www.cibsys.com/cibsys1/index.html on the UK site and run down the various pages on the left side to see what happens (if you have IE on a PC). On the PC on some pages perhaps 30% eg workflow services the menu on the left fails to draw correctly leaving the text un readable.
    Thanks

  • Aggregation level ZFI_FINGL is locked by the Change and Transport Organizer

    Dear,
After transport from a dev to prod system I get this message on the planning modeler :
"System is not set to changeable - objects are not changeable
Aggregation level ZFI_FINGL is locked by the Change and Transport Organizer"
Do you know how to fix it ?
    Thanks in advance,
    Thibaut

    Hi,
By default the planning modeller configuration is added to the standard BEx transport (if it is not saved in $TMP). If there is not one set up then create one in the admin workbench transport connection.
If you don't use this, then you can add the objects you wish to change manually into a transport before you change them - this also works.
    Cheers
    Mark
