IWeb Creates weird address and folder when uploading site

I am building a site for my company (www.jgpinc.com). I have a couple of questions. First of all, when I upload the site and go to it, it creates a new directory and the address goes from www.jgpinc.com to www.jgpinc.com/www.jgpinc.com/home.html. Why is iWeb creating a new subdirectory called www.jgpinc.com? Secondly, in the header, our company name shows up as JAMes g. palmer appraisals, inc. How do I correct the capitalization problem?
Thanks!!

Why is iWeb creating a new subdirectory called www.jgpinc.com?
Because you named your site inside iWeb www.jgpinc.com. Change that to "jgp" or whatever and republish.
Complete iWeb sites always show the site name in the browser address bar. Of course the url you give to people is still just www.domain.com. iWeb's ftp does not have an option to upload incomplete sites. If you want to get rid of the site name, you must manually change the site structure either before or after uploading. If you do that, any RSS subscribe links will not work. Another option is to forward www.domain.com to www.domain.com/sitename, if your host allows that.

    Hi Trishw,
At the top of the iTunes Store window, you will see who is logged into iTunes. I'm guessing from your description, that it is your husband. If it is, click on the name to display the dropdown, log him out and sign yourself back in:\

I have tried everything and nothing works. When the computer starts it makes weird sounds and also when I try to eject it. Nothing Works! Please Help.

I had that happen with a MacBook. It turned out that the metal case above the slot was slightly bent down.
Putting a flat blade screwdriver in the slot and gently twisting it to move the metal case up allowed it to eject. Don't put it in too far you only want to bend the case not the drive.
The case can get bent down by picking it up with your thumb pressing down on the case above the slot.

  • When I open the safari i go to facebook. now i get a weird address and have to go to bookmarks to get facebook

when I open mymac book pro i click on safari and it goes straight to facebook. but for some reason now when i open safari i get a strange address and have to go to bookmarks to find facebook. anyone have a clue

I tried to edit my previous post, but the system did not store my edits and no longer offers an 'Edit' button. The following is my revised post:
I am also using Safari 5.1.7. By choosing the 'Privacy' tab in Preferences and then clicking on the 'Details' button, I have accessed a list of all the domains that are currently storing cookies in my browser.
However, I'm unable to view the individual cookies or their contents by clicking or double-clicking on a given domain name in the list. So, how does one view an individual cookie and its content in Safari?
By comparison, when I view the list of all domains storing cookies in Google Chrome's Preferences (Settings/ Privacy/ Content settings.../ All cookies and site data...), I'm able to view all individual cookies for a given domain by clicking (once) on that domain name in the list. (One domain, for example, had 9 separate cookies.) Then, I can view the full content of each cookie by clicking on a button bearing that cookie's name. For example, the content within each cookie displays such information as:
'Name' (often a Session ID), 'Content' (a string of characters), 'Domain' (including subdomain, if applicable), 'Path' (generally root level, /), 'Send for' (when cookie should be invoked), 'Accessible to script' (yes or no), 'Created' (date), and 'Expires' (date). I find that some of this data can be enlightening -- such as when a site is storing affiliate codes in a cookie, and who the affiliate is. If I wish, I can delete an individual cookie (out of multiples) for a single domain, without necessarily deleting ALL the cookies for that domain.
Safari does not seem to have similar capabilities, which puzzles me. That's a big shortcoming, IMO.  :-(

  • Iweb problem - auto creation of subfolders when uploading website

when i originally uploaded my website the uploads went straight to the url <stgeorges.co.uk>. (done via ftp, don't use mobile me)
now when i am updating the site, iweb seems to be automatically creating a subfolder to put updates in <stgeorges.co.uk/st_george> whilst retaining the original out of date pages.
i've had a look through the forums and found one post that seems to imply that this is a symptom rather than a fault of iweb (ie a fault that can't be corrected!)
can anyone tell me a way to correct or bypass this problem?
insofar as i'm aware i haven't modified the iweb page in anyway that it would start to do this. it seems iweb i thinking "oh, let me help" when that is not what i want. i have of course modified the index/home page now and i thought it may be separating owing to a duplicate file, when all i want it to do is replace the original!!!
any help would be most appreciated!!!!

iWeb creates and publishes an index.html and a folder containing the website files. This is what is uploaded to MobileMe using webdav or to a server using FTP.
To remove the extra sub directory you need to publish to a local folder and upload the contents of the folder only, rather than the folder itself, using an FTP application.
This may seem tiresome and unnecessary but, most people who are publishing to a "real" server and purchasing a domain name, probably want their site to be found by search engines and to download faster than the average iWeb built website is capable of.
Adding SEO tags and optimizing files for faster download requires publishing to a local folder anyway....

  • Error Code 0x80070005 "Windows was unable to create a required installation folder" when trying to upgrade XP to Windows

While trying to upgrade Windows XP to Windows 7 in Boot Camp after (performing a satisfactory compatibility check) the process aborted with error message "Windows was unable to create a required installation folder." Do I need to have a full version Windows 7 disk instead of the Upgrade version?  Any other ideas??

Your suggestion to do Bing/Google search helped. It turns out there was interference from Boot Camp Services. I found two work-arounds that others had used that were stated to have worked. One was to temporarily delete Boot Camp Services and then reinstall it after the XP to 7 update, the other was to create a DVD of the downloaded installer files created by the updater and use the startup application from that DVD.
I had previously tried to update XP in a Parallel Virtual Machine but but XP didn't recognise the Updater disk as a DVD. That led me to try updating in BootCamp. I decided to try using Parallels again and was able to fix the device problem and update t&. I am going to keep Windows XP in the BootCamp partition as an alternate "machine". When I update to Lion I'll keep that partitition since BootCamp 4 that comes with Lion does not support XP.

  • Match in ranges created through 'address' and 'concatenate'

My goal is to search in an address range for a specific match (=match(2, b2:b5). I created the address range through a concatenate function of two cells (=concatenate("b2",":","b5")). The outcome is displayed correctly (B2:B5), but I can't use match on that result ("2 is not found in B2:B5").
The problem is that match does not work on a "concatenate", meaning:
    * MATCH(2,B2:B6) - works
    * MATCH(2,CONCATENATE("B2",":","B6")) - does not work
    I use the address function to create B2 and B6 - which works, e.g.  ADDRESS(B1+1;2) = B2 (assuming that B1=1)
Any idea how to convert the results of a concatenate to use it in match, vlookup, hlookup?
    Thanks
    Josef

Most of the time, I build formulas by pieces and it's only when every piece behave flawlessly which I gather them.
In this case it's not doable because OFFSET is used to give a range so we can't use it solely.
When I meet this case, I test a reduced shape.
=OFFSET($A$1,1,1) is supposed to return the value of the first cell of the range to define.
=OFFSET($A$1,1+5-1,1)  is supposed to return the value of the last cell of the range to define.
When they are checked, it's time to build the complete formula which is supposed to return the range :
    =OFFSET($A$1,1,1,5,1)
In fact, when we write it this way, it returns the value of the 1st cell in the range.
Easy ways to check that it's OK are to encapsulate it in formulas like :
    =SUM(OFFSET($A$1,1,1,5,1))
    =COUNT(OFFSET($A$1,1,1,5,1))
As we are trying to build a formula returning what would be retuned by
    =MATCH(6;B2:B6)
We just need to make a simple replacement:
    =MATCH(6;OFFSET($A$1,1,1,5,1))

  • Weird noises and voices when I make a call

Hello. I use Skype all the time at work. I usually make international calls and sometimes receive calls. Now and then, when I make a call, I can hear some weird, very loud noises in my headphones. It's like bits and pieces of conversations mixed with crackling and bumping sounds. Meanwhile, I can also hear the phone ringing. The noises stop when the other party picks up. The problem is they are very loud and my ears hurt every time because I keep the volume pretty high so I can hear the clients answering (the volume of the conversation automatically depends on the country I call) . What could be the problem? It happens with different headsets, different computers and different internet connections.

First thing to try is to reset your device. Press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears. Let go of the buttons and let the device restart. See if that fixes your problem.

  • Help with running iWeb on multiple computers and find the current site

I have two Macs and MobileMe. I have usually run iWeb on the laptop and have my website on it. I thought I saved the site in MobileMe. When I go to the desktop and open iWeb it opens up an old version of my site. I search for Domain and none of the options are the current site. On my laptop (the current iWeb version) I opened MobileMe's iDisk and tried a couple of the "Domains" that live on it and none of them are the current version. Now, I can't even get my laptop to open the one I had opened a few moments ago beacuse I can't find the newest domain. So, where is my current domain/ I can't find it.
I do have a folder on iDisk called "Sites" that contains the HTML files and folders of my current site but I can't seem to get this to open in iWeb. But, this folder does contain the current version but none of the Domain files I have opened refer to these I guess.
    What should I do?
    Guy
PS I am running the latest iWeb on both computers

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. As you know for both of you to edit and update the web site both of you must be using the same version of iWeb and working on the same Domain.sites2 file.
See MacWorld's online article Managing an iWeb site from multiple Macs. However, there are a couple of caveats: 1 - only one can be editing and uploading at a time; 2 - allow plenty of time for Dropbox to update all copies of the domain file.
What I would do is when you plan on editing the site copy the domain file that's in your Dropbox as a backup. Do you editing and publish. If something goes wrong you'll have the good domain file that was copied just before you started editing. If the site is small and, thus, the domain file the updating will be better insured. Keep both computers online much of the time so the updates will go thru as soon as they are made.

  • Can I use ip address and hostname to establish Site 2 Site VPN?

Is it possible to use both; hostname or ip address while trying to setup an ipsec tunnel?
The scenario we have is that there is a customer who has one central site and 10 remote sites. Each site exists for a period of 3 to 6 months and then the staff moves to another location as a result the router/firewall and other IT resources are moved too. This requires me to setup and tear down tunnels from the head office as well as remote sites. To avoid this, i was thinking of using dynamic DNS which would save me a lot of work. Is it possible that I can setup VPN tunnels by either method i.e. hostname and ip address or do I have to stick with any one method only? As a reference the command used to identify peers is
    "isakmp identity {address | hostname}"
    The firewall version is 7.0(5)

    Hi,
If you want to use IP addresses also then you could probably configure dynamic L2L VPN connections so that even if the IP address etc of the remote site changes, it is able to connect to the central site without making any change on the central device. For the remote sites that have the static public IPs, you can create static L2L VPN connections.
    HTH,
    Please rate if helps,

  • When exporting to HTML in Adobe Muse. It doesn't create a image/images folder when exporting.

    Hi
    PLEASE HELP!
When I export to HTML to upload the site on FileZilla, it doesn't create an images folder.
It did it before and thought it was just the 1 saved file, but then I tried the other websites I have done and it is doing the same thing.
It creates everything from text and the widgets but everywhere where there are images, is just blank.
Thanks to anyone who can help.
P.S. I love this software and has shaped my design skills. Thank you Adobe!

Don't be confused by the same names; there are 2 Justin's in this thread.
I'm sorry you took my post as an attack on the Adobe staff.  I was not passing judgement on the questions the staff asked, or the lack of additional staff response when they went unanswered.
Rather, I was expressing surprise/disappointment that the COMMUNITY did not provide any additional comments in a whole year.
It turns out there a several other threads (which is where I got the clue about the issue that I was having).
BTW, in my case I did move the images to the assets folder, and re-linked them.  However, I guess Muse keep track of the fact they were in the images folder originally and consequently did not subsequently export them.
I would think an option for a fresh/full export (as is provided for the FTP) would be a good enhancement to Muse.

  • ICloud Drive causing timeouts and disconnects when uploading

It seems that iCloud Drive is set to use the maximum upload bandwidth possible when adding files to it.  I have a home internet connection with fairly limited upload bandwidth (1Mbps - Time Warner Cable apparently doesn't think there is any need for more than that). When I add files to iCloud Drive and they begin to upload, everything else I am doing online quickly times out and eventually disconnects.  As far as I can tell, there isn't any manual control for how much upload bandwidth iCloud Drive can use.  Dropbox and other cloud services have such a setting but it seems that Apple has left this out of their offering.  Has anyone else experienced this?
It is probably also worth noting that this is the same thing that happens to me when I upload to iTunes Match.  It seems that Apple needs to better handle users with limited bandwidth.

When importing an address book file into Thunderbird the original Personal Address Book remains as the default even though it's empty. Is there a way to delete this empty 'Personal Address Book'? Thanks .. Andy TB version 24.3.0

For some reason, ctrl+a didn't move the whole list. I had to move them one at a time. Is it so hard to let the user delete the Personal Address Book default and replace it with an address book of their choice?
