IWeb - Cyberduck - omissions in photoalbum

Yesterday I had a problem with my provider, iWeb does not limit number of simultaneous connections and is recognized as DDoS activity.
So I am created a site in iWeb locally and use Cyberduck to upload (synchronize) it as Wyodor recommended (on Feb 27, 2015 11:36 PM).
I found that photos are not displayed only in photos pages devoted to photo albums. But locally it is ok.
Do you meet that issue? How to solve it?

Thank you for the response.
I had already opened (downloaded?) my yahoo infor into cyber duck. But how is this used in this process?
I have now tried to drag the www.nameofsite.com folder AND the index.html folder in to the duck. The index.html file worked, but I get an error message each time I try to drag over www.kendallpace.com (my website) into the duck.
I then went to yahoo and thought about transferring the folders that way, but there are a ton under each webpage (e.g. the .css, .png, etc). Which ones do I manually copy over?
Any insight as to when I drag the www.kendallpace.com folder into the duck, I it fails to completely upload? I get either one of two error messages: "ftp upload failed. no such file." or "ftp failed, must be ascii", but al my folders do not contain spaces.....hum. I feel there must be a simpler way!

  • Quicktime slideshows

    Hello,
I am trying to publish Quicktime slideshows into my gallery page, I have tried everything that I can think of and it still does not work. The albums are perfect, but no slideshows?
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Rick

Since you don't provide relevant information, I have to guess what you did.
In iPhoto I exported albums to QuickTime.
In iWeb I created a Photoalbum and dragged the movies on top of it.
All movies are display in the albumoverview page and each movie play on it's own page.
Took me 2 minutes to accomplish.
Since the Quicktime slideshow is a movie there are no pictures to display in a picture slideshow.

  • Is there a way of aligning the images in iweb photoalbums other than have them be a square?I have them at same height and resolution but htere is a default that shrinks them and aligns them at the bottom.Thanks.

So how did you do it?
by understand what iweb widgets do, in this case setting gridEntry widget's scalMode preference from fill to fit.
then reset the displayed image, so it fits in the display area even if it's portrait aspect.
however, i found some glitches in gridEntry widget that's quite strange... but all fix-able.
perhaps, iweb experts (whose had poked at my example) here can chime in.

  • Publishing iWeb Changes with Cyberduck

HI I have been using iWeb for a few weeks and my site has slowly been growing in size. I use Godaddy hosting so the way i publish is:
    1: Publish to Sites folder
    2. Run iWeb SEO to apply Meta Tags
    3.Drag SItes folder into Cyberduck
This worked great for a while but now my site takes way to long to reupload the entire thing every time.
My question is if i edit a particular page, what all do i need to upload?
there is an assets file and index file outside of my main website folder and i assume i update those every time.
But inside the file it has every html page next to a folder with the files on that particular page so i assume i upload that as well
    Where i get lost is
there is another index file in there so do i need that as well?
    SCRIPTS- i have no clue
So if i upload all of these particular things will i be uploading everything that is changed (if i just make changes on one page for simplicity)
    Thanks in Advance!!!

The Scripts folder contains lots of Javascript instructions for your site and html snippets/widgets that you have used.  You don't need to upload this every time you change something.
As I have explained in my previous post, if you just change a couple of pages on your site, then all you need to do is upload both those html pages and their respective css folders and that is it.
I do this all the time with my own websites.  I publish to a local folder and use Cyberduck to upload as I use the iWebSEO tool for inserting tags and Google analytics before I upload.  If I have just changed 2 pages on my site, all I do is upload those two changed pages with their respective css folders and everything works perfectly.

  • How do I publish iWeb site with Cyberduck??

    Hi there,
I am trying and trying, but I can't figure it out. Can anybody help me and tell me how to publish an iWeb site with Cyberduck??
    Thank you so much!
    Marc

Okay, this is not complicated at all.
When you want to publish an iWeb site to some place other than MobileMe, then you publish to a folder of your choice on your hard drive and iWeb will create all the files needed. It will create one folder that has the same name that you called your website inside iWeb plus an index.html page. So if you called your site Site in iWeb, then when you publish to a folder, your folder will be called Site, plus the index.html page.
You then need to open Cyberduck and enter your ftp info, plus your username and password and then you click on open connection. Once you click on open connection you will be connected to your hosting service and there will be a folder there called Public_html. You then need to upload your folder plus index.html file from your hard drive and once these have been uploaded, you just drag and drop them into the Public_html folder on your web space. To upload in Cyberduck, just click on Action at the top and click on Upload. Once you click here you will be shown all the files on your hard drive and all you need do is go to the folder where you site is stored and then click on index.html and it will be uploaded and then click on Site or whatever your site is called and upload this and it will be uploaded.
It is not difficult at all, but you do need to know what you are doing.

  • Is there a video tutorial for using cyberduck and iweb?

So, is there a video tutorial for using cyberduck and iweb to upload to a website? The written instructions on iweb are not specific enough.

Might be worth posting that in the iWeb forum.

This is the iPhoto 09 forum.
Also, have you tried searching with google?

  • IWeb 08 blog posting issue using Cyberduck

Tried to upload a blog page to my website and get the words "blog summary widget" where the content should be. I see it's been noted as a problem in other MAC communities but I haven't yet read a satisfactory resolution.

Is the blog page online now? I don't see it if it is. I don't have a lot of experience with iWeb blog pages (or any blogging pages for that matter) but do know these are the iWeb features that will be lost using the iWeb blog on a non Mac server:
Features Unavailable When Publishing to a Non-Mac Server:
    ◼ Password protection
    ◼ *Blog and photo comments*
    ◼ *Blog search*
    ◼ Hit counter
    From iWeb 3's Help file
When opened locally, the file is fine
If the blog page displays OK when you publish to a folder and look at it locally then the issue is with the uploading. What are you using for an FTP client? If it's not the free Cyberduck you might try downloading and using it. It's well recommended here in the forum.

  • IWeb website & Cyberduck load-URL not opening

I used iWeb to create a website and after reading the recommendations, I decided to use Cyberduck to upload my website.  I successfully entered in the data from my web host and uploaded all of the website content into Cyberduck.  The green light is ON next to my bookmark for my website.  However, when I go to my URL (www.nhwctr.org), this is all I see:
    HTTP/1.1 404
    Connection: close
    Date: Thu, 15 Sep 2011 22:52:43 GMT
    Server: Microsoft-IIS/6.0
P3P:CP="BUS CUR CONo FIN IVDo ONL OUR PHY SAMo TELo"
    MicrosoftSharePointTeamServices: 12.0.0.6421
    X-DIP:216
    X-UA-Compatible: IE=EmulateIE7
    MS-Author-Via: MS-FP/4.0,DAV
    MicrosoftOfficeWebServer: 5.0_Collab
    X-Powered-By: ASP.NET
And at times, the message "server not found".  Any suggestions as to what's going on????

Firstly, you don't upload your website content into Cyberduck - the whole point of Cyberduck is that you use it to upload your content to your server and not Cyberduck itself.
If you use Cyberduck, it will show you what is on your server as well as your desktop.
Open Cyberduck and on the left hand side there is a link that says 'Open Connection'.  Click on this and then enter all your server details - ftp name, username and password and then click on connect and you will be connected to your host/server if these details are correct.
You should then be able to see everything on your server.
In Cyberduck, there is an Action button to the right side with a drop down menu - click on this and then click on Upload and you can then find the published files of your website that you published from iWeb to your desktop. Select the folder and click on upload and it will be uploaded to your server.  Click on the separate index.html file and upload this too, so that it sits outside the site folder.
This is all you need to do to upload.
Don't know why you have Microsoft?  iWeb sites work better with a Linux server and Windows hosting can cause problems, so you should probably consider changing.
What web host are you using?

  • Iweb and cyberduck not coming together, Please help

Ive used iweb to build my website, then I published it to a folder with the same name as my domain, I then had some trouble getting cyberduck to work but now I am able to drag and drop the folder into cyberduck, it transfers the file, and the site is 15 pages I think, and it takes about 10 min to transfer it, then I go to Safari to make sure it is working but it isnt there. I think this may be the most confusing thing Ive ever done. Help would be a godsend right now as Ive been trying to get this working for about 3 or 4 days now. Thanks,

After publishing to a folder, iWeb is irrelevant.
You have to copy the index.html file and the folder(s) with the Site name(s) to your webserver.
It helps if you now at least the URL of your domain.
Just start with a very simple index.html file. Nothing to do with iWeb. Just a simple webpage.
    Here's one you can download.
    http://web.mac.com/wyodor/_Data/default.html
Put it on the server and make sure it displays in the browser:
    http://www.yourdomain.con/default.html
That's where you store the file and folder(s) mentioned before.
    Magic word: Practice!

  • Cyberduck v. iWeb for uploading

I have recently created a website using iWeb and had problems with uploading directly to my ftp server. I tried with cyberduck and it seems to work fine (on the first try at least!) but obviously this is an extra step that I would prefer to avoid if possible.... This brings me to my 2 questions:
    - is cyberduck a better method for uploading in general? e.g. are people having good results with iWeb uploads or is a 3rd party ftp app the way to go?
    - when using cyberduck, is there a way to only upload the changes or do you have to essentially overwrite the whole website each time?
    Thanks
    Duncan

Using an FTP application allows you to add SEO tags and optimize your files.
The only application I know that will upload changed files is Web Site Maestro. The application is an optimizer with a basic built in FTP function.

iWeb built sites have to be optimized if you want them to load on a PC running Internet Explorer.

  • Cyberduck, iWeb, worked earlier flawlessly, now keep getting errors...

I keep getting the same errors over and over now when I make changes to my site(s). I am uploading to local dir's and then manually uploading via Cyberduck. I use to have no issues. Now, once I upload a site and then do major changes to all pages, export entire site, and try to upload with cyberduck, I keep getting the errors in image linked here.
I know how to do what I am doing, so would like to avoid the obvious questions. I need to know what could have changed with my local file(s) or what could have possibly changed with my host or is it something in Cyberduck?
I have no issues work on my sites in general and using Cyberduck. It works fine on anything else. And please, I am not interested in a different program UNLESS something serious has changed with Cyberduck.
But I need help. I hate having to manually build each dir or filder on my server in and then upload the contents when I make major changes. Once I manually upload all the files, I can make small updates with just the new files no problem... But a whole new site, nothing. I've tried clearing the files from the server...
The answer is likely right in front of me, but I am at a total loss as to what has happened.
    Thanks!

Actually, it appears it was a bug in a recent update to cyberduck. Just after my last attempt, I got a message there was a new update to cyberduck. Just installed it and presto. Worked like a charm.
    Thanks for the idea though.

  • Multiple websites, multiple woes: Best IWeb 09/MobileMe strategy?

I'm still a bit confused as to the best strategy for using IWeb 09's much-touted-in-reviews but apparently rather limited ability to publish to two or more separate MobileMe accounts.
In IWeb 08, I would set up several different user accounts on my Mac, associate each one with a separate MobileMe account from my Family Pack, and maintain separate domain files for each (all stored in the same folder on my hard drive, but given different names like "Domain_personal" or "Domain_business"). This worked fairly well, despite the inconvenience of sometimes not having a photo I wanted to use readily available, as it might be part of an IPhoto library that belonged to another account.
(I would generally log-in to the user account I wanted to use and work on the MobileMe domain file I had "assigned" to that account. But now and then I might forget, and start working on a domain file for the "wrong" Mac user account. That didn't seem to be a problem -- I could still save my latest changes, log out and then log in to the "right" user account, where I could publish my revised domain file to the intended MobileMe account.)
But in IWeb 09, my previous strategy is resulting in a slew of problems. Unexpected crashes. Or IWeb refusing to save a file after I've changed it (it just tells me the file cannot be saved, no explanation). Or images and/or video files that will suddenly go missing. Last night I found that one domain file/site I had published over and over with no problems in Iweb 08, now appeared to be a complete mess in IWeb 09 -- numerous missing images, including some png files that are apparently part of the Apple-supplied IWeb design template. Yet the graphics (mine and Apple's) were suddenly back when I opened that same domain file in another user account on my Mac.
So my IWeb 08 strategy does not seem to be working in IWeb 09. I guess an alternative would be: Do all my IWeb work in the same user account, swap domain files as I'd been doing before, and reset my MobileMe identity for that user account every time I want to publish. Or -- essentially the same thing -- use IWeb's ability to maintain multiple sites in the same domain file. But once again, I'd typically need to manually change my MobileMe identity to a different account at publishing time, to get an individual site going to the right place. And hope like heck that I don't accidentally mess up ICal, etc., by accidentally syncing to "wrong" Mobile Me account, to which I've logged in solely to accommodate IWeb.
Am I missing something here? Is there some logical reason why Apple would set up IWeb 09 to allow you to publish multiple sites, stored in one domain file, to various multiple external sites via FTP with ease? But make it essentially impractical to publish to several different MobileMe accounts, without the hassles I've mentioned?
It seems to me that if I want to use IWeb 09 for multiple web sites, the only sane thing is to drop my extra MobileMe accounts as soon as possible, and add some more external sites --- since (if you can do the RSS, etc., yourself) Apple has just made it so much easier to publish to anywhere-else-but-MobileMe.
Anybody have a different take on this? Or a better solution?

    webalias rex wrote:
Anybody have a different take on this? Or a better solution?
The following may not be a better solution, but it does provide a different "take". I haven't tried it myself, so I wouldn't be surprised if there's a fatal flaw in the idea. Anyway, taking that risk...
Since we don't know what, in iWeb '09, is causing your "slew of problems", it's not possible to say whether this proposed approach would make any difference. But in theory it would enable you to:
    • maintain your separate Domain files
    • publish to your multiple MobileMe accounts
    • from the same user account on your Mac.
Take a look at this Apple doc:
MobileMe: How to publish a custom website
The idea is to publish your iWeb sites to different MobileMe accounts from a single Mac user account as +"custom websites"+ and, as that doc says:
"If you only plan to publish custom sites to your MobileMe account, you can make your site's URL shorter by placing your site (and its main index.html file) in the main Web/Sites folder instead."
...Presumably iWeb 09's integrated non-MobileMe publishing is FTP only, not WebDAV that iDisk requires. So you would need the free Cyberduck or pay for Transmit to publish your sites via WebDAV protocol to a MobileMe account's iDisk. And for a Domain you are about to publish, you would have to remember to use the appropriate MobileMe "destination" of the several you've set up to use in Cyberduck or Transmit.

  • The publishing settings page does not open when I click on the domain name and the iWeb application will not stay on the dock.

    Hello,
I have been trying to help a friend who is having problems publishing her website. (She has done so previously using Mobile me)
There seem to be a couple of things wrong with the application,
1     if I drag the application icon onto the dock, it won't stay there
2     I wanted to change where her site is published to (she has bought a domain name and has a hosting service now) but when I click on the domain name I do not get the "site publishing settings page" so we can't enter the new details.  All that comes up is the main page of her website.
I would suggest uninstalling and re-installing Iweb, to see if that clears the problem, but as Iweb came pre-installed with her Imac, I am not sure that we can do this.
    Any ideas please?
she's using and imac 24 in (approx 4 years old) and running osx 10.5.8

NO - not correct.  Even if you are still using iWeb 08, you can still publish to another host and not MobileMe.  You do this by selecting the option 'Publish to a local folder" and this will publish the site to your desktop and you can then use an ftp programme such as Cyberduck to upload your site to your host.
MobileMe will not be here after the end of June, so you will have to find alternative hosting.  They are not taking any new subscriptions.
On new Macs, iLife 11 is pre-installed, but only iPhoto, iMovie and GarageBand are included, not iWeb and iDVD. The Apple Online store is not selling the boxed version of iLife 11 any longer, so if you want to upgrade to iLife, then you'll have to look online at Amazon.com or Amazon.co.uk for a boxed set of either iLife 09 or iLife 11.  Both contains iWeb 09, which is what you would want.
