IWeb doesn't offer widget for Facebook "Like" button?

Is it true that iWeb doesn't offer a widget for adding a Facebook LIKE button? The code offered to copy by Facebook doesn't work when I paste it into a text box on my iWeb site.
Thanks for any insights fellow users can offer. My free trial will be ending soon and I'd only sign up for the year if these issues can be resolved.

That's because you don't paste html code into a text box. You need to copy and paste any kind of html code into an html snippet placed on your page where you want the code to appear. Copy and paste the code into the snippet and click on Apply and it should display.

    Hi all
I have put in the Facebook like button onto my website from the Muse Widgets library. My problem is that the widget is at the bottom of my website and when someone likes it the dialog box opens below the the end of the site - how can I make the dialog box open above the widget instead of below?
Here is a link to the website - it is on the bottom right hand side in the footer - HomeMarcoPina Fragrances and Accessories

    Hi,
Thank you for sharing the Page url,
I am afraid, using Muse you cannot change it. But take a look to this link, they are discussing the same thing, using some CSS effect

  • Facebook Like Button in iweb??

I'm trying to create a Facebook like button for my website. I have followed the instructions on the facebook developer page, pasted the code into my HTML Snippet and it's not working. Any thoughts?

    Guys,
I had the same problem - the issue I found is that facebook have changed the widget generation process - hence doesn't work with iweb.
anyway - for those of you looking for a more concise facebook like widget, use this code:
    <iframe src="http://www.facebook.com/plugins/like.php?app_id=219325474776145&amp;href=https://www.facebook.com/pages/Accommodation-for-Students-Plymouth/219325474776145&amp;send=false&amp;layout=box_count&amp;width=300&amp;show_faces=false&amp;acti on=like&amp;colorscheme=light&amp;font=verdana&amp;height=90" scrolling="no" frameborder="0" style="border:none; overflow:hidden; width:60px; height:70px;" allowTransparency="true"></iframe>
the bold - just insert your own facebook page ID, and the URL to your facebook page.
    Hope this helps!

  • Facebook "like" button on iWeb

Can someone help me figure out how to use iWeb to put a Facebook "like" button on my homepage? I don't have the newest version of iWeb.

Thanks.  I just did this and it is drastically changing the height of the box.  The size of the box is 300 px x 10035 px.  I would like to have it 300 px in width and between 75 and 100 px in height.
When I publish it , it moves the widgit to the opposite side of the page and only gives a portion of the bigger box.
I just removed it all together and re published it and it is still there.
Here is my website so you can see what I'm talking about.

  • Facebook Like Button for Individual Products

I like the great method that Kiyuco adapted to use the 'AddThis' to do this, however, in some instances, for example, if you have grouped products, switching between products results on making the Like Button disappear.
I am sure that this happens due to the JS Hack implemented within it.
I know how to do this using PHP, however, we know the story about PHP and BC.
I just want to know if someone came across a solution to get this done using the BC Facebook Like Module to target individual Products.
    Thanks.

Allowing the visitor to ‘Like’ the current page is as simple as adding BC’s facebooklike module to the Large Individual Product layout (or anywhere else):
    {module_facebooklike, moduleTemplateGroup="", language="en_US", url="", layout="", showFaces="true", width="450", verb="like", font="", colorScheme=""}
    http://kb.worldsecuresystems.com/134/bc_1345.html#main_Social_Media_Modules
To add the Facebook Like button to the Small Individual Product layout you’ll need to make a simple change. Go to ModuleTemplates > SocialMedia > FacebookLike > Default > container.html
Copy the code in the container.html. It will look like this:
    <script src="http://connect.facebook.net/{tag_language}/all.js#xfbml=1"></script><fb:like href="{tag_url}" layout="{tag_layout}" show_faces="{tag_showfaces}" width="{tag_width}" action="{tag_verb}" font="{tag_font}" colorscheme="{tag_colorscheme}" send="{tag_sendbutton}"></fb:like>
Paste it to the Small Individual Product layout. Change the tag_url to tag_itemurl_withhost. It will look like this:
    <script src="http://connect.facebook.net/{tag_language}/all.js#xfbml=1"></script><fb:like href="{tag_itemurl_withhost}" layout="{tag_layout}" show_faces="{tag_showfaces}" width="{tag_width}" action="{tag_verb}" font="{tag_font}" colorscheme="{tag_colorscheme}" send="{tag_sendbutton}"></fb:like>
Changing the tags will allow people to like the individual product page without even going into it.

Nothing I try seems to work
I'm copying or have copied all the code into the html snippet but no matter what i try i cannot get it to work
I noticed that most of the posts on this are a bit old 2010 ETC
Has there been a change since these posts & has anyone managed to do it recently
Any help here wold be great
    Thank you

    Hi Roddy
It all of a sudden started working
only thing now is its showing the photo's of the people who have liked so far I de selected that option all i want is just the like button
also for some reason the hight is 10035px high i can resize theres nothing in the code that sets the hight
    Heres the code i'm using
    <div id="fb-root"></div>
    <script>(function(d, s, id) {

  • How does Facebook like button work?

    Hi,
I want my Facebook like button to "like" a page on Facebook, but when I enter a URL it doesn't work. Do I just go to the Facebook page I want to link to and copy what is in the browser dialog box there? Sometimes is has numbers in it. Do I need to be an administrator of the page to do this or something?
    My website is www.layeredstyle.com
I want my Facebook like button to go to a facebook page called "Layered"
    I have tried entering www.facebook.com/layered
    Thank you

    Hi again,
Sorry about this, but I'm not seeing how to make this work yet. My client
says everything is on for all followers, and when I put in the URL I just
get an error message when clicking on the button on the website.
I also have problems with the widget jumping around on the page....it
doesn't always stay where I put it unless there is nothing around it, like
the box can't be touching anything else. Is that normal?
The URL I'm putting into the Facebook widget is
    https://www.facebook.com/pages/Layered/555042077944967
If I check the current page, the button "likes" the website page, not the
    Facebook page.
    Thanks

  • Facebook like button does not work in my FF 32.0.2

    Dear FF support-team,
I've got a strange problem with the Facebook like button (in German called: "Gefällt mir") on my site and after some trying around myself, I need your knowledge, as mine seems not to be enough. :-)
I have got a Facebook-Like button built in on my Wordpress-Site: See Reference: http://www.lifechange.at/kammel-scheck/ (at the bottom of the page).
When I try to click it and I'm not logged in to Facebook, he opens up the popup and asks me to login. So far so got, but when I log in and try to "Like", he just opens the popup and closes it automatically after half a second and shows no like.
When I open the "Like-Button"-Bar in an extra Tab (right click on Like-Button and select Current-Frame-->Open Frame in new Tab), then the Like-Button seems to work correctly.
I have already cecked against all installed add-ons (deactivated completely, tested, reactivated). Especially AdBlockPlus. But I have deactivated AdBlockPlus on Facebook and on my Domain lifechange.at.
Then I checked, if the Like-It - Link to Facebook was "https://" and not just "http://". That's also ok.
On every other browser (Chrome, IE, Opera...) the Like-It Button works fine.
And what's also interesting: the other FB-Button ("Share" ("Teilen") - Button) works fine even in Firefox.
So you see, I will be lost without your help, for which I ask politely.
    Thanks a lot in advance.
    Greetz, Hannes

Ahh, I forgot to mention: The "Google+" - Button also doesn't work. In all the other Browsers, it does. Thx, Hannes

  • Facebook LIKE button(s)

    Hi All,
I've been trying to use Muse's Social Widgets specifically the Facebook Like Button. I generate it put when exported as html the button is none apparent. So I tried via Facebook's developers page to generate and paste the code, it still doesn't work.
Can someone tell me if they successfully placed a Facebook Like button and how they did it?
    Thanks a lot again!

Facebook's embed code doesn't work when viewed over the 'file' protocol, which is what you're doing if you export to a local folder and then open the .html file in your browser. It should work if you use 'preview in browser' from Muse or 'Preview' because Muse hosts the html files over the 'http' protocol. It should also work if you publish to a temporary BC site, or publish to your live BC site, or upload to your non-BC host and view the site over http.

  • Facebook like button integration after Facebooks July '13 migration

I am trying to add a like button to blog posts at jayowenhouse.com. I am following the instructions here
    http://kb.worldsecuresystems.com/kb/add-social-media.html#main_Obtaining_the_plugin_code_
Even using {tag_itemurl_withhost} the "like" button "likes" the entire domain not the individual blog post. It looks like this facebook social plugin update has messed up BC's system for displaying like buttons, comments etc. I am experiencing the same issue with the tweet button and facebook comments. Maybe Im doing something wrong..
    The Facebook developer page reads,
"After July 2013 migration, the Like button required an absolute URL in the href parameter."
The code in the tutorial does not have the absolute URL. How can I make my "like" buttons like individual blog posts with the absolute URL in the code that facebook gives me?
    I would appreciate any insight.

I'm assuming your facebook module code looks like this then:
    {module_facebooklike,moduleTemplateGroup="Default",language="en_US",url="{tag_itemurl_withhost}",layout="standard",showFaces="true",width="300",verb="like",font="",colorScheme="light",s end=""}
If this is not working i might suggest looking at the source code of the page you want to do this on. Check in the <head> tag and see if you have any <meta property="og:url" /> tags where the url provided is anything other than the specific url you want to like. If you do have such tag, remove it from your template, and only use it on pages you need the facebook like to work.
If it's still not working I would suggest looking into http://www.addthis.com. It's worked better for me than the Business Catalyst social modules.
    I hope this is helping.

  • Facebook Like Button - Could not find the linked file ....

    Hi All,
    Hope everyone is ok!
    I have a question:
I have downloaded the Facebook Like Button (https://www.facebookbrand.com/), in AI format, and, when I open it in Illustrator CS6 *trial version*, I get: "Could not find the linked file "likeicon_7-17a.ai". Choose Replace to select another file, or Ignore, to leave the link unchanged".
If I click "Ignore", the file is displayed, without the "thumbs-up" icon.
    Why does it do this?
The only "ai" file in the archive is the entire logo. There is no "likeicon_7-17a.ai".
Here is the archive, if someone can tell me what is going, i would be happy!
    http://speedy.sh/D642Q/logos-and-badges-like-button-print-packaging-ai.zip
    Thanks!
    Chris
P.S.: I apologize for the "weird" username, but, the forum software wouldnt allow any username I picked!
    Thanks again!
    Chris

    the file is constructed poorly.
You could download the thumbsup.ai file and then simply copy/paste it to the like button file.

Run your site through this validator... http://validator.w3.org/ You have an extra  tag floating in there that may be throwing the browsers off. You currently have 42 errors in your html, a bunch are being caused by that extra tag and a few others floating around..

  • Facebook Like Button Image Selection

    Hi guys,
I'm looking for a fix on getting the facebook like button to take the correct image which is posted on the user's profile.
    I'm using
    <meta property="og:image" content="http://designbysilkweb.co.uk/images/fb.png" />
but it's still not pulling the right image into Facebook.
    Cheers
    Tom

    Hello Tom,
facebook probably just cached the wrong image, go to:
    https://developers.facebook.com/tools/debug
run your url through there and it should clear fb's cache.
