IWeb doesn't recognize my iPhoto library

I am trying to add photos from my iPhoto library to iWeb. Although iWeb does show a listing of my iPhoto albums, nothing happens when I select the album.
G5   Mac OS X (10.4.6)
G5   Mac OS X (10.4.4)

You need to select the images themselves within the album, then drag these to the Photo page in iWeb, dragging to the part of the iWeb page where the placeholder images are. Let go the mouse button when you see a blue outline appear. Your photos then replace the placeholders. Once there, you can rearrange them, edit the captions, change the frames, and decide whether to have 2 or 3 photos in each row.

  • Iphoto suddenly doesn't recognize my photo library

Yesterday, I created a slideshow and showed it on our TV via the s-video output and screen mirroring. When finished, I returned the screen settings (ie resolution) to what it had been (1280x854).
Today, when I opened iphoto, a message appeared "Screen resolution is not optimal for iphoto". The only option was to click "OK" which I did. After clicking, the slideshow that I had created appeared in iphoto but there was no way to open my other photos/events. I subsequently tried to import a few extra photos from pictures. They were imported but the rest of the library did not appear. I subsequently deleted them. Now whenever I open iphoto (by clicking on the iphoto app. or on the iphoto library in Mac HD), the screen is blank and there is an indication of "no photos". However, if I click on iphoto library in the HD without opening it, library size is listed as 14 GB. Also, if I click on "search all images" all of my photos appear and can be opened by Preview. What is going on, how did it happen and how can I correct it?
    Thanks, Gordon Kus

Hold down the option (or alt) key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Choose Library' and navigate to the iPhoto Library - which is in your Pictures Folder, by default. If iPhoto sees a valid library there it will open it. If it doesn't then you have a damaged database file:
Try these in order - from best option on down...
    1. Do you have an up-to-date back up? If so, try copy the library6.iphoto file from the back up to the iPhoto Library (Right Click -> Show Package Contents) allowing it to overwrite the damaged file.
    2. Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums back.
    3. If neither of these work then you'll need to create and populate a new library.
To create and populate a new library:
Note this will give you a working library with the same Events and pictures as before, however, you will lose your albums, keywords, modified versions, books, calendars etc.
In the iPhoto Preferences -> Events Uncheck the box at 'Imported Items from the Finder'
Move the iPhoto Library to the desktop
Launch iPhoto. It will ask if you wish to create a new Library. Say Yes.
Go into the iPhoto Library (Right Click -> Show Package Contents) on your desktop and find the Originals folder. From the Originals folder drag the individual Event Folders to the iPhoto Window and it will recreate them in the new library.
When you're sure all is well you can delete the iPhoto Library on your desktop.
In the future, in addition to your usual back up routine, you might like to make a copy of the library6.iPhoto file whenever you have made changes to the library as protection against database corruption.

  • After update to Lion and going back to snow leopard, iWeb doesn't recognize my website

I upgraded to Lion thinking my files were backed up on MobileMe as set up.  After finding out most of my favorite programs had no upgrade to Lion, I had to erase my hard disk and re-install Snow Leopard.  Some of my programs don't work now and iWeb won't recognize my personal website, so I can't update it.  What and how do I correct this issue?  I also can't get my printers working in spite of numerous re-installs of their software and internet updates.  HELP!

The critifcal file to have for iWeb to work on your websites is named Domain.sites2 and is located in your Users/Home/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder.
If you don't have a backup copy of that file you will have to rebuild your sites from scratch. Chapter 2.3 on the iWeb FAQ.org site has tips on using some of the existing files, image, audio, video, etc., from the published site in the creation of the new site.

  • IWeb does not see my iPhoto library

For some reason the iWeb media browser does not see my iPhot's. It does see my iTunes and iMovies. It says "open iPhoto 2 or above". I do. It still does not see them.
    I repaired permissions.
I deleted prefs (iPhoto and iWeb)
I know I can drag from iPhoto... but I would rather use it as intended.
    Any ideas?
    Randy

I just upgrade to iLife6 and am also having the same problem. It keeps telling me to launch iPhoto 2 or later.
I've tried all the suggestions in this thread and still iLife nor desktop prefs will see my iPhoto library. I thought it might be because my library was in on an external drive, but creating a library in my pictures folder didn't work either.
I have no items in my Movies folder. I guess my next option is to re-create my library. Yuck! And see if there is something corrupt in there that I'm not seeing. I will hate to loose my albums though, but I guess it's worth it if it fixes the problem.
Oh yeah, another thing. I just realized that the desktop prefs never saw my library even when I was running iLife5. Not sure what is going on.

  • Aperture 3 doesn't see my iphoto library in OSx

I just installed the Aperture 3 trial on my new macbook pro and it does not see my iphoto library. I was also trying out the iphotolibrary manager but just uninstalled it when it didn't seem to have the full features that aperture has. What to do?

    Hello,
It worked on the path import/iphoto browser.
That is, because this will show the current iPhoto Library, the one you last opened with iPhoto.
I wonder why not through library? That path has no library to choose from
Here you are supposed to point out the library you want to import using the file chooser: You have to locate it all by yourself.
In the dialogue that opens navigate to your Pictures Folder and select your iPhoto Library.
    Regards
    Léonie
Set the selector at the top of the window to your Pictures folder and pick the Library you want

  • IPhoto library in iPod view doesn't match my iPhoto library since Lion

Help: Since installing Lion my iPhoto library no longer syncs to my iPod Touch. It's as if the iPhoto library stopped updating in the iPod window the moment I upgraded. All previous photos still show up. It's like iTunes thinks I have an alternate iPhoto library or something. Can anyone help?

Try restoring the iPod to factory settings.
This will erase the iPod hard drive completely so you can effectively start from scratch.

  • SYstem Preferences does not recognize my iPhoto library.

I have a sort of random problem. I can reset Preferences when restarting my computer and set system preferences for my screen saver and desktop, to use my iPhoto library which is on an external USB for what I think are obvious reasons. Sometimes the iPhoto library is available and sometimes it is not. If it does not show up in the screen saver or desktop pain it is usually grey on my external drive. I just restarted my computer and got the photos I wanted, but I know from experience something will happen and they will be lost.

Locate a file named "com.apple.iApps.plist" and move it to your Desktop (for safe-keeping just in case,) then the next time you re-save your iPhoto Library, and/or change your wallpaper/screensaver settings, these should now work, and stick.

  • Iweb doesn't recognize saves site

I was working on two separate projects. When I wanted to work on one i would close iweb. Go to iweb folder, remove it! and drag in other site. This has been working for months, and than suddenly when dragged a copy over it didn't recognize the pr existing site and the drop-down came down for templates. I deleted the plist, copied iweb and put new copy in application, did repair permissions. Nothing works. I still have some backups, but whenever I drag those in they get overwritten as well. Please help! someone. Thanks Mark

What were the titles of the domain files you used? I rename the domain files to represent the site name, i.e. Christmas08.sites2, etc. Then iweb will display that file by the name of the site inside. When you open that site via iWebSites it renames that site to domain.sites2. You do your thing, publish and quit. If you open a second site (NOT named domain.sites2) it will change the current domain.sites 2 site back to the name you gave it, change the second site's name to domain.sites2 and open. The last opened site will have the file name of domain.sites2.
So if any of your domain files were left as domain.site2 that would be the reason you were having the problem.
My list of domain files in my User/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder looks like this. What I see in iWebSites looks like this.
So make additional copies of each domain file from your backups, name them for the site inside, put those two files in the iWeb folder and open iWebSites again. That should solve your problem.

  • 10.8.3 screen saver doesn't work on iPhoto library

  • ATV doesn't recognize iPhoto Library

Using iTunes to sync by choosing my iPhoto Library doesn't work as the iPhoto Library is dark and can't be chosen.  Also ATV doesn't recognize my iPhoto library which is how I realized I had a problem.  All other functiondsof ATV work fine; i.e. movies, etc,  This just seems to be a sudden problem as everything worked fine before.  Is my iPhoto file corrupted in some way?  What do I do?
    iPhoto version 9.2.3

    Location:  /Users/jberns/Pictures/iPhoto Library
I have run the Repair Database utility by holding down the Option and Command Keys while opening IPhoto
I have tried turning Home sharing on and off.
I did not do anything different.  All other functions of ATV work nicely.
When I try to choose the iPhoto Library it is not active (faded)
    Appreciate the help.

  • Genius... doesn't recognize library

I opened up iTunes this evening and attempted to update Genius results but was met with the following error: "Genius results can't be updated because the iTunes store doesn't recognize your iTunes library. Please turn off Genius using the Store menu, then turn back on."
I am logged in to my account - in fact I just purchased a movie through iTunes, so I know I am logged in. I only have two machines activated under this account. I followed the instructions (turned off then turned on) - and that didn't work at all. Is this something on a local level that I messed up, or are others experiencing this problem?

You know what's most frustrating? I listened to it and actually turned Genius off only to NOT be able to turn it back on again. This, of course, deleted ALL of my genius playlists (and some of them were actually really good).
I'm thoroughly annoyed right now. It's finals week and I was using those playlists to help study.

  • IPhoto running really slow - alt cmd doesn't work, restart neither, library has about 2000 photos

I already tried all options when starting iphoto with alt and cmd pressed - doesn't work
    I restarted my mac - doesn't work
I clicked "repair" and "verify" disk in "disk utilities" - doesn't work
My iphoto library has about 2000 pictures, I have a macbook air 11' and the latest version of iphoto. The problem first came up when i imported pictures directly to iphoto from my digicam - iphoto kept on shutting down unexpectedly. Alt+cmd worked then, I rebuilt the library. Since then iphoto is running slow. I cannot even scroll down or up without waiting and getting a beachball.
Please help me - I have no idea what to do!
    Thank you very much!

How much free space do you have on your boot drive?
    Give this a go:
Using iPhoto Library Manager  to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
Download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
Click on the Add Library button,
navigate to your Home/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the Library ➙ Rebuild Library menu option
In the next  window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
    Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments. However, books, calendars, cards and slideshows will be lost.
Note:  your current library will be left untouched for further attempts at a fix if so desired.

  • IWeb doesn't see Aperture. Is it supposed to?

I use Aperture for all my photo work. I created Web Gallery's in Aperture.
I opened iWeb today to make a blog, but iWeb doesn't see my Aperture Library. Is it supposed to? Or do I have to export photos from Aperture and import into iPhoto so iWeb will use them in the Media Window? Wow iHope that makes sense? LOL
    Thanks

Yes, I think aperture should be listed in the Media Pane in iWeb. Deleting the iApps and iWeb preference file, then launching Aperture and then iWeb might bring it back.
However, one thing you can do to manually put the Aperture library in the Media Browser list of phot os is to open iWeb and bring up the media pane. Drag the Aperture library into the Media Pane and it should be added along with the iPhoto library. You have to be in iWeb when you do the dragging so set it up so the Aperture library is visible from the iWeb window.

  • Why does old iPhoto library show that it's been updated?

I 'backed up' my iPhoto library a few months ago by dragging it to and creating a copy on an external drive.  I never used that extra, copied library.  I continued using the one in my home Pictures folder on my hard drive.
I am moving stuff around for extra hard drive space when I recognize my iPhoto library on my external drive (just as I left it, I'd just forgotten about it).  So for kicks, I clicked on GET INFO for that file so that I could compare it to my current iPhoto library.
Both were 'created' on the same day in 2009.  The old one was a little smaller than the active one.  Fine.
Interestingly, my backup copy said that it was Modified:  Yesterday 5:30pm.
my current library said that it was Modified:   Today 10:10pm.
QUESTION:  Why was my unused, backup copy of iPhoto Library modified yesterday when I haven't accessed that file, clicked on the icon, or even remembered that it was there (until today)?
I appreciate any insight you may have.  While not a burning issue, my interest is piqued.  THANKS!

Have you rebooted since the deletions.  That will empty a number of caches and may restore the freed up space. Also open the iPhoto Library package with the Finder as shown in this screenshot
locate the iPod Photo Cache folder and delete its contents.  Make no other changes to the contents of the iPHoto LIbrary Package.
