IWeb doesn't see Aperture. Is it supposed to?

I use Aperture for all my photo work. I created Web Gallery's in Aperture.
I opened iWeb today to make a blog, but iWeb doesn't see my Aperture Library. Is it supposed to? Or do I have to export photos from Aperture and import into iPhoto so iWeb will use them in the Media Window? Wow iHope that makes sense? LOL
Thanks

Yes, I think aperture should be listed in the Media Pane in iWeb. Deleting the iApps and iWeb preference file, then launching Aperture and then iWeb might bring it back.
However, one thing you can do to manually put the Aperture library in the Media Browser list of phot os is to open iWeb and bring up the media pane. Drag the Aperture library into the Media Pane and it should be added along with the iPhoto library. You have to be in iWeb when you do the dragging so set it up so the Aperture library is visible from the iWeb window.

  • Iweb doesn't show aperture media browser??

    Hi guys.
Can anyone explain why Iweb doesn't show aperture media browser??
I have latest version Iweb and latest version Aperture 2.0
    Thanks for help

Perhaps Aperture is not supported by iWeb.
If you [search the Aperture forum for iWeb|http://discussions.apple.com/search.jspa?objID=c184&search=Go&q=iweb], you might get better results.

  • Iweb doesn't see my old domains under 10.9 after the upgrade from 10.7 Please help

    Hi everybody,
iweb doesn't see my old domains under 10.9 after the upgrade from 10.7 Please help
It gives me an option to choose a domain but when I go to "sites" it doesn't recognize none of them.
    Thanks :-)

In Lion and Mountain Lion the Home/Library folder is now invisible. To make it permanently visible enter the following in the Terminal application window: chflags nohidden ~/Library and press the Return key - 10.7: Un-hide the User Library folder.
To open your domain file in Lion, Mountain Lion or Mavericks or to switch between multiple domain files Cyclosaurus has provided us with the following script that you can make into an Applescript application with Script Editor. Open Script Editor, copy and paste the script below into Script Editor's window and save as an application.
do shell script "/usr/bin/defaults write com.apple.iWeb iWebDefaultsDocumentPath -boolean no"delay 1
    tell application "iWeb" to activate
You can download an already compiled version with this link: iWeb Switch Domain.
Just launch the application, find and select the domain file in your Home/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder that you want to open and it will open with iWeb. It modifies the iWeb preference file each time it's launched so one can switch between domain files.
WARNING: iWeb Switch Domain will overwrite an existing Domain.sites2 file if you select to create a new domain in the same folder.  So rename your domain files once they've been created to something other than the default name.

  • IWeb doesn't see I'm already logged into MobileMe

When I attempt to publish to my trial account of MobileMe I am getting a pop-up telling me I need a MobileMe account and offers sign up for one or asks me to login to my current account. I click login to my account and it opens MobileMe in system preferences where I am clearly still logged in. I attempted to log out and log back in, but iWeb still does this and won't publish.
    Please help!

I am having the same problem. iWeb can't see that I am already signed in to MobileMe and clicking the iDisk tab gives an error message. I did notice that I can open my iDisk in Finder. Sync seems to be working also.
I just installed all the iLife updates (released yeseterday, 7/22) a couple hours ago. I was able to publish from iWeb once, and then the behavior started. I wonder if it has anything to do with the new iWeb update (version 2.0.4)?
But it also seems all these posts are from around ~10:15-10:45PM (I'm on Mountain Time), so I am wondering if it is server outage like what has been happening with some people's mail.

  • IWeb doesn't see all Aperture pictures

I'm trying to put some newly processed photos into my website with iWeb. The photos are inside a Smart Album in Aperture 3. iWeb's media browser sees 65 of these images, but there are actually 74 images in the Aperture album. My Aperture library is referenced, so I checked to make sure there were no broken links, but every photo is properly referenced by Aperture. The only obvious thing the missing photos have in common is that they are the most recent imports into Aperture, or close to it. I rebuilt Aperture's library, but no change. The images are TIFs, but iWeb is able to see other TIFs with no problems.
Smart Albums can have issues, so I selected all images in the Smart Album and copied them into a regular album in Aperture. iWeb only sees 59 images in this album. What the hey??
I upgraded from iWeb 08 to iWeb 09 (and updated iWeb 09, too). I don't know what else to try. I know that I can always drag and drop into iWeb, but it's hard for me to figure out which images are missing. Any thoughts on what I should try? Or which app has the problem?

I was playing around editing one of the "missing files" in Photoshop and resaved it. It showed up in iWeb after that. Did the same to all the other TIFs, and they showed up too. Couldn't figure out why two NEFs (raw format) images adjusted in Aperture weren't showing up. I read the O'Reilly link and it finally dawned on me that resaving the tifs in Photoshop was generating new previews. I forced Aperture to make new previews for the two missing NEF files, and they finally showed up in Web. So problem solved. Hopefully this will help someone else. Thanks for the O'Reilly article that gave me the clue.

  • ITunes doesn't see Aperture Library - iMovie doesn't see Aperture Library

    Issues:
Nearly all of my videos in the Aperture/iPhoto library do not show up when I select iPhoto library option in iMovie and iMovie is unable to locate them in any other way.  Sometimes the option to select the iPhoto library is completely missing.
iTunes does not recognize my Aperture library, and I get the following message:
"Your Aperture Library could not be found. Open the preferences window in Aperture and enable the preference to share previews with other applications." After reading through forums and multiple Genius Bar appointments here is most of what I have done:
Created multiple new Aperture libraries, selected them in Aperture, rebooted, switched back and forth - Note:  iTunes DID recognize the new blank libraries
Booted Aperture with the Command + Option keys and run all three options to repair permssions and even rebuilt the database
Booted Aperture with the Option key and selected the library I was using all along (this worked for someone in a forum)
Opened iPhoto (not Aperture) and selected an option to share photos
Run "Verify Disk Permissions" many times under Disk Utility
Run "Repair Disk Permissions" many times under Disk Utility
    Reinstalled OSX
    Reinstalled Aperture
    Reinstalled iTunes
    Reinstalled iMovie
Run a virus and malware scan (no issues)
Verified that Aperture was set to share previews and had a Genius go through all of my options to ensure they were correct in iTunes, Aperture, and iPhoto
Have ran "Reset Home Directory Permissions and ACLs" from the Command + Option + R recovery partition multiple times.  Each time it just hangs for hours, the latest attempt ran for over 24 hours before I finally stopped it.
Oh yes, and I found and deleted the file com.apple.iApps.plist
None of these things fixed either of my issues.  According the the Genius at my last appointment, now I have to call Apple Care and pay to get support.  I must have misunderstood what the Genius Bar was about when I bought my Mac and why I purchased the One to One training.  Before I call Apple Care, I was hoping someone might have run across this and can help me.
I asked the Genius if I now need to just create a new Aperture Library and move all of my content to it (that was the last resort for someone in a forum); however, he was concerned that even if this might work that I probably have deeper permission and/or other issues that need to be addressed and that doing so would not fix the root cause.
Thanks for taking the time to read through this issue.

Understood.  I thought perhaps the period meant that I was finished and just needed to call Apple Care and fork out the fee.
The formats are primarily .MOV straight from the iPhone.  Since going to a Mac, I have pretty much given up on using my Sony Handycam for family videos due to the pains of having to locate, identify, convert, and export AVCHD video to watch on Apple TV.  It is just too easy to take video with my iPhone and import it and immediately watch it, although the quality is nothing close to a dedicated video camera, especially indoors and in lower light.  All of the video formats in Aperture are supported and most all of my older home videos and Sony Handycam videos are sitting on an external drive (hoping that one day I will have the time to figure out a decent workflow to access them after I work all of the bugs out of iMovie).  Great thought though.
All my content is managed.  After a handful of One-to-One sessions at the Apple Store, I finally learned that you could not reference videos in iMovie and had to either have them in the iMovie Events directory or in iPhoto (at least that was what she said).  Their solution was to import the videos into iPhoto so they could be easily accessed in iMovie.  After I had issues mentioned in this post their solution was for me to purchase Aperture that could handle larger libraries.  This was supposed to fix the issue and allow iMovie to see my videos.  When that didn't work they said that I needed to purchase Final Cut Pro.  I'm just a Dad who wants to make a few memorable home movies for his family and I don't think that I should have to purchase a $300 application, especially after paying a premium for my Mac and the iLife software, which I am deeply regretting.  But I digress.
I have repaired permissions again and am in the process of repairing the library and will rebuild it again if that doesn't work.  It is taking longer so I won't be able to post the results until a later time.  Definitely worth a shot to try this again.
If this doesn't work I will take the time to create a new Aperture library.  Like I previously mentioned, this was the last resort for another gentlemen who had a similar issue.  After doing this it might explain why the "Reset Home Directory Permissions and ACLs" from the Command + Option + R recovery partition is getting hung up and not working.  I'll post the results at a later date.  If I could save just one person the time, gas, and stress I've experienced it would be worth it.
One additional question?  I read a gentlemen's post that passionately argued against ever using iPhoto, Aperture, or iMovie to ever manage video files.  He suggested using folders and a file naming system similar to what I used when I was on a PC using Adobe Elements.  Do you have any thoughts on that?
For my situation, I have two concerns:
I'm afraid this would not allow me to watch the videos on Apple TV as simply as I can now (although I don't know this to be the case for certain).  If the videos aren't in my photo library, I'm not sure how I would be able to access them through Apple TV.
Since I'm a proud Dad I have hundreds of video files spanning many years, so I also don't want to lose the ability to quickly peruse my event library and find content that I want to import into a project in iMovie.  At one point I imported some video files to edit that weren't stored in iMovie, and I could only see the file name and date and had to guess if there was content on it that I wanted.  When you have hundreds of clips like I do that isn't practical.
He argued that these programs were never meant to manage content and worked much more efficiently using this method.  I'd be very interested to hear your thoughts.
    Thanks again.

I have a Home Page on my iDisk that is visible and works fine from my .mac account home.

I updated to Mavericks and Aperture 3.5.  All my images are referenced on a stand-alone drive.  After the update, Aperture displays thumbnails, but I can't edit because Aperture doesn't see the referenced file ("image offline") and when choose all of my images and I run locate referenced files ... • FCPX Photo Browser can't see Aperture?

I use Final Cut Pro X 10.1.3 and Aperture 3.5.1.
When I want to import pictures from Aperture to FCPX I'm supposed to be able to use Photo Browser in FCPX. But in Photo Browser I can only see my iPhoto pictures. I don't get the drop down menu and I can't see Aperture any where.

    iMac   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

Try some of the following general suggestions and see if they clear up your issues with launching iWeb...
    1. Delete iWeb preference file at: YourHardDrive/Users/yourname/Users/Library/Preferences/"com.apple.iWeb.plist"
    2. Delete iLife Media Browser preference file at: YourHardDrive/Library/Preferences/"com.apple.iLifeMediaBrowser.plist"
    3. Repair startup disk permissions using Disk Utility
    4. Reboot machine
    5. Delete iWeb application (but keep a backup of the Domain file!) and reinstall iWeb 1.0 from original iLife'06 DVD or Recovery Disks and then update directly to 1.1.1 via Software Update.
These are the top 5 things that seem to garner some kind of positive results from people having similar nonspecific problems.

  • Macbook Pro doesn't see Airport Express

    Hi,
I've been struggling with connection to my Airport Express.
My Macbook Pro (OS X 10.6.7 + all the latest updates) doesn't recognize it anymore. Occasionally, my wireless network was briefly visible to the Mac, but connecting to it only led to a time out. My Windows laptop from work did not have issues connecting, and neither did my iPhone...
I've done a reset of the AE, which did not help (my Windows laptop now shows the Apple Network XXXXX that is supposed to appear). However, the Airport Utility that is supposed to help me reinstall the thing from my Mac will not recognize it either...
Anyone any suggestions on where to go from here?

I am having the same problem. Right now i am sharing the wireless connection through the iPhone because my MBP2011 won't even see the SSID broadcasted by the airport express.
I hace tried emptying the keychain, emptying the list of known networks but nothing helps. It had the same kind of episode last week but after a lot of rebooting and editing of the AE over ethernet cable it started working again.
Tonight I came home from work, started the MBP and it wouldn't see the network. It has popped up once but clicking on it only resulted in a timeout error message.
Any help would be much appreciated! The AE is only a month old..
    MBP2011
    OS: Lion latest update
Airport utility and AE are updated. The utility doesn't see the AE.
    iStumbler doesn't see the AE-network.

  • Airport Extreme doesn't see ethernet ADSL router

I'm having a problem trying to connect my new Airport Extreme base station to a one port ethernet conexant adsl router. It simply doesn't see that the router exists.
The way I have it setup at the moment is the router distributes an IP address to the airport and the airport distrubutes IP addresses to wireless devices. At least that's what's supposed to happen.
I have an Airport Express connected to the router and that works fine. Connects no problem on its default settings. The Airport Extreme however doesn't connect with its default settings.
Anyone have any suggestions as to how to fix this problem? Is it possible the Airport Extreme just doesn't work? I've connected the Airport Extreme to my laptop via the WAN port to set it up and that worked Ok so as far as I can tell the WAN port works fine as does connecting wirelessly. The two just don't talk to each other.

    Try the following ...
    Modem/Router Power Recycling - Quick
o Power-off the ADSL modem, AEBSn, & computer(s); Wait at least 5 minutes.
o Power-on the ADSL modem; Wait at least 5 minutes.
o Power-on the AEBSn; Wait at least 5 minutes.
    o Power-on the computer(s)
If this fails to get the modem to "recognize" the Internet router, then try the "Full" version.
    Modem/Router Power ReCycling - Full
o Power-off the ADSL modem, AEBSn, & computer(s). (Wait at least 30 minutes. If possible, leave the modem off overnight.)
o Power-on the ADSL modem; Wait at least 15 minutes.
o Power-on the AEBSn; Wait at least 5 minutes.
    o Power-on the computer(s)
