Iweb dying a fast death

I've read that a lot of people seem to have trouble with changing the hyperlink colors, I am too, as a matter of fact it all worked fine for 2 weeks and now I can't change a hyperlink color to anything but black, it just won't let me.
However I can't add any borders around my pictures now, unless they are black. Thats the only choice i get. They worked fine until this morning. I have 10 different web sites built in iWeb and I NEED to be able to make these changes.
I've searched and I can't find anyone that is having problems with the lines around the pictures (i.e. where you pick the frames). All I get is black. I have websites built that I have to add pictures too and pages and they have other colors around the pix so I have to have more choices then just black.
Is there anyone that can help me with this problem??? I do understand that when it was just the hyperlinks you could go into the css page and change the links code there. But the frames around the pix is a much bigger issue. Am I the only one having this problem?
What a mess, I have 2 website that are supposed to go live tomorrow and I can't publish them like this.
OK I'm editing in an update: Inspector just will not do color. I can't change the color of any shadow, now they are ALL BLACK. I don't know what to do??
Any help at all will be greatly appreciated, any help!

  • IPhone 4 battery life, Why does it die so fast and what can I do?

I have had an iPhone 4 for a little over two years now and feel like recently, my battery is dying so fast.
When I go out for the day it always dies before I get home, what I think it is, could be that I take a lot of pictures and use many picture apps, but I don' think that it has always been this bad. NO matter what I do, when I go out to shoot at the park, it dies within a few hours. I hardly use it for other things besides that and it still dies. Yesterday when I left the house at 12, and came home at 5, it was dead.
I did all of the things I read about that I need to do, like closing the apps, etc.
I don't get it, is it me, or the battery being old or what? Should I buy a portable charger or do I need a new phone?
I have a question about charging the battery as well. A coworker of mine told me that you need to let your battery die out every time, and then charge it, but I never do that. Is that neccessary to save the battery?
    Thank you.
(*not sure what the difference is between CDMA and GSM? sorry)

Thank you, I am going the Apple store today for a genius appointment. L
ast night I let it die, and charged it to 100%, then I unplugged it and went to sleep. at 530am it was at 98% - I used it quite a lot for texting, and taking and editing pictures and use of the internet. it just died at 1:30pm, so it lasted exactly 8 hours.
    Thanks again.

  • HT5012 I have a first generation Iphone 5 and my question is why is my phone heating up so bad to the point where its almost to hot to touch on the back. On top of that the battery is dieing so fast that it usually lasts about 3 hrs on a full charge. Help

So basically my iPhone 5 has been heating up so bad that it feels like its about to over heat and die. I've never had this happen to any other of my iPhones.  On top of that the battery is dying so fast that on a full charge is lasts about 3 hrs give or take. Ive tried closing all my apps like i usually do anyways, i tuned down the light, I've reset it and booted it back up, reset it and used iCloud backup, ext... Nothing is working. I'm to the point where i  almost want to get a new phone. I even tried calling apple support and they couldn't help me cause from what it sounded like they had no idea what they were doing. If anyone has any comments on how to fix this i would greatly appreciate it . I do love apple products and i have a upgrade and plan on upgrading my phone when the new one comes out but for the time being IDE like to fix the phone i have now that I've only had for a little bit anyways. Thanks

You are probably going to have to take a trip to the Apple Store, but you can also make sure that:
Bluetooth is turned off when not in use
Location Services are only turned on for those locations that you want a constant update to
Background App Refresh is turned off
    Automatic Downloads is turned off
Cellular Roaming is turned off when you don't need it
Go through your Settings and take a look at all of the settings to determine if you have any turned on that may be using a lot of battery, and which you really don't need.
    Cheers,

  • Why battery is dying too fast after iso5.01 upgrade

why battery is dying too fast after iso5.01 upgrade,  It is dying on an average of 13% every hour and a half, in sleep mode.  I've tried hard restart and restore in I tunes, no difference!  It got worse after I upgraded to 5.01.  This has to fixed If I dont use the phone it will need a full charge by noon.

Do a forum search and try some of the suggestions there before starting a whole new thread about battery issues.

  • Why is my battery for my I phone 5 dying so fast?

I have only had my phone since friday and the battery is dying really fast all the time? What should I do?

How fast? For an interactive game that uses data (cellular or WiFi) you should expect about 5 hours of battery life. Are you getting less than that?

I had PSE 12 installed on my Mac that died a sudden death yesterday. I can't find anywhere to download 12....everything takes me to 13. After spending $$$$$$ on a new computer, I can't outlay another $79 to upgrade to 13. Anyone have any advice for me?

My computer is 3 1/2 months old and my battery is dying really fast what can I do to increase the battery life?

    Hi,
    I asssume it's a laptop!
1st I would run it right down & then do a full recharge, then run it down again + a full recharge..
Check that you do not have any apps running in the background, reset PRAM..
When all's done I usually run a movie & time how long the battery lasts..if after that & no joy call Apple Help..

  • Serious design flaw in iWeb needs fixing fast

I have been designing websites with various types of software in the past. Always a wysiwyg environment has been amongst my favourites as it shows exactly what you are doing, how it looks and what it's going to be like for the viewer.
Now iWeb does a fairjob at that but it has one MAJOR issue and that's publishing.
I have tried publishing to MobileMe, I tried local and upping the contents via a different FTP program and I have tried uploading to FTP from within iWeb.
The issue that a lot of people are reporting and Apple is ( regretabbly ) not doing anything about is the problem with the settings on the website ( left panel of iWeb)
Normally you would want to save everything of a certain website under a site. iWeb does that, fine.
Yet when you publish your site to MobileMe or any other FTP location, it ALWAYS adds the friggin' SITENAME to the path.
Why can't I get rid of that nonsense ? I want my site looking like http://www.mysite.ext/index.html
    NOT like http://www.mysite.ext/<sitename>/index.html
So, to me, it looks like Apple is adding a variable to the publishing path which should NOT be there.
Please Apple, fix this or tell us in which plist this stupid setting is set so we may be able to change that. It's ridiculous this way.

    @Ethmoid
Yes I have read your reply and it's similar to many replies in the forum.
Users always get put off with the same nonsense band-aid sollution like " publish locally then upload via other ftp program"
Although I will grant you this works, what use is the whole FTP function in the software if you cannot use it as it is supposed to work ?
Some other things I would like to mention in regards to this bug ( yes it is still a bug in my book )
    - Apple does not mention the a-typical behavior anywhere in the documentation
    - Apple does not mention the Auto-Adding of the Website name in the Knowledge Base
    - Hundreds of people have complained about this odd behavior of the program
What really ticked me off today was the following:
I have tried to contact Apple in various ways about this bug.
Sent in feedback various times, tried this forum ( no luck thusfar ) and even started a Fast Lane Incident. The result of that was that I was given the option that I would have to pay 49 Euro's before apple would even listen to the problem. I tried to tell them that it's a bug in their software which I already had paid for.
In The Netherlands it's set by law that any product ( no matter what ) which does not perform as expected has to be solved by the company that made the product. ( there is more to that but i'll leave it as is for now )
So, I am a paying customer who paid for his software which has a bug. I ask for a sollution and all I get is " You have to pay 49 Euro's per incident" . *** ???
Now you can call me a ranter as many times as you want but no matter how you put it, the behavior in iWeb is odd in relation to any other ftp enabled web publishing client. Pick any 100 different softwares for web publishing with ftp feature and i'll bet you 100 US $ that at least 99 of them upload in the folder you set in the program and they will not add any folders by themselves the way iWeb does.
This combined with the many, many similar posts about this oddity, you cannot keep it up to tell all these users they rant and just need to buy another piece of software to do just that what iWeb should be able to do.
    As for the fix.
If people are really " happy" with this behavior of auto-adding a sitename, then at least let Apple give us a choice to either switch this behavior ON or OFF. It should be easier to do and fix then any of the other bugs they recently fixed.
I really hope you see it as it is, a faulty product...

  • Samsung Galaxy S3 Battery Dying Extremely Fast - After 4.3 Update

I have been struggling with this same issue, have killed all unnecessary apps, cleared the cache, performed a factory reset and even tried a new battery, and still have an issue where after a full charge, my battery would drain to around 90% in less than 30 minutes.  Sometimes, even faster.
It seems that nobody has been able to nail down a solution, so I attempted to contact Samsung to see what their suggestions might be.
The conversation I had with an agent basically sums up like this:
There's nothing they can do because they do not have reports of this issue and request that I send in my phone to be physically examined.
So, Samsung basically told me to send it in and see if they can do anything about it.  I don't have the insurance set up on my account, so I can't hold that in place, and I have no other way to get in touch with people and have a small child, so I can't exactly just mail off my phone for them to examine it.  So, basically, Samsung is avoiding the issue and we still have no true resolution.
If anyone has any other ideas, fixes, things I can attempt without having to send my phone in for someone to "examine", it would be greatly appreciated.
Please note that I have deleted/uninstalled/cleared cache on many apps, finally completely reset the phone to factory settings and then tried a brand new battery, and the drainage is still extremely significant.

Simple fix. No. Seriously. I had this on mine and the fix worked like a charm.
I appologize in advance that I do not have screenshots, so I'll do my best to step by step describe this as best as possible.  The culprit is your e-mail app (not g-mail --- e-mail).  I don't know the specifics, but it has issues with syncing between Yahoo accounts and Google accounts and it supposedly causes the e-mail client on your phone to run CONSTANTLY to try to sync.  This will drain your battery like crazy.
No. This process never shows up in the battery useage thingy that they had you check.  It is a background app process and won't show there.  Sorry VZ people, but your normal tech magic has no power here.  This is a known bug with Android 4.3.
You have to disable the sync, but this has the unintended effect of rendering your e-mail app useless since it will no longer get your e-mails for you, even if you manually sync it.  Just download the Yahoo Mail app and you'll be fine. (or whatever other e-mail service you're using).
From your In-Box, touch the menu button to the left of the home button.  The menu comes up with "Sort By", "View As", "Font Size", and "Settings"  -- Touch "Settings"
Under the settings menu, you should see "+Add Account" at the top and "Account Settings" with your e-mail address directly under that.  Go ahead and click that.  It should bring up another menu with your e-mail address and a green check mark beside it.  Touch your e-mail address to open its settings.
The top option is "Sync Settings" - that is the one that we want... click it.   You should see "Sync E-mail" at the top and below it, it will say "Master sync has been turned off" and there should be a green check in the box to the right.  Touch the green checkmark to fix the issue. The green check should be on and it should now say "Sync turned off."
You've now fixed the problem and disabled your e-mail app from sucking your battery.  Not sure why it sets up like that, but with the Master Sync turned off, your e-mail app will try endlessly to sync with the other services via master sync and it will never be able to.... so it keeps running and running and running.  Sucks.
Now that you're fixed, just get a service specific e-mail app and be happy with a phone that doesn't die in an hour!!!!
Keep in mind that you will still need to monitor things like Wifi being on when you're not connected to Wifi, GPS, and screen brightness.  Those will drain it quickly too.
I used to be able to unplug my phone @ 100% and litterally watch it drop without even unlocking it.  Now, I can use it casually/semi-hard all day at work and still go home with 40-50% of a battery.
    Best of luck!

  • How come all of a sudden my iPod touch 5th generation battery is dying so fast?

I'm very picky on how I charge my battery because I don't want to complete kill my battery. But all of a sudden my battery is dying fast. Overnight, it kills about 30 percent with no apps open. It used to last all day but now it doesn't even last half the day

    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.

  • My iPod touch battery is dying really fast?

These past couple days my iPod battery has been dying fast! I don't have much on my ipod.. I have 299 songs, 3 internet apps (Youtube, FB, & iFunny), 5 Games (Temple Run, Solitaire, Jewelz, Angry Birds and fruit Ninja) Plus the required apps that I have to have on there. Oh, I also have 40 photos.. roughly.
But anyway, even when I leave the iPod alone the battery runs down! Like, this morning I woke some up with my iPod dead when I went to bed the battery was half full. I restored it, I deleted some songs on my ipod, i deleted some apps, and I decreased my brightness. Why is my iPod dying fast?
I got the ipod in October and never had battery problems before with any iPods that I have owned.

When not using the iPod, turn airplane mode on. WHen sleeping the iPod can do things and if it tries and connects to wifi it can discharge overnight.

  • A G4 dieing a little death - possibly....

hey - i'm using an older G4 which up until very recently has been absolutley fantastic, ever since he day i bought it.
I usually run 0S9 to satisfy software requirments, however recently i've been getting an error message telling me that my keyboard requires to much power to be supported via usb. ***? It's the standard mac pro keyboard i've always used and other than the mouse there is no other device connected to it.
I can get maybe half hour out of the machine by un-/re-attaching the keyboard, but then the machine crashes. (however i'm not convinced it actually crashes as the clock keeps ticking)
I am literally clueless when it come to MACs. i've never added hardware to the machine, and i regualary reinstall the OS.
Is my mac dieing or do i just need to replace a battery or something?
Would greatly appreciate any help - thanks RICH

    Hi, teamzissou -
I agree with Thomas - try connecting the mouse to a port other than one on the keyboard. Your G4 has two USB ports.
The keyboard has an unpowered hub in it, one which does not handle passing power to attached devices very well, as indicated by this Apple KBase article -
Article #58649 - Apple Pro Keyboard: Devices Connected
My experience has been that the info in that article is correct. After I had a keyboard die several years ago, I switched my mouse to a port on my monitor (which has a built-in powered USB hub), and have not had any problems since then.
Another possibility, perhaps - the original Apple Pro mouses had a defect, where the wires inside the cable could fray at the point the cable leaves the mouse body. This would cause random open and.or short circuits, with resulting odd behaviors including freezes or dead mouses.

  • A G4 Dying A Thousand Deaths

I've been following a few threads here because I've had similar problems. I haven't seen a solution to this, however.
I posted about frequent kernel panics, crashes and blue screens under BobMac, but when I went to log in for a further post the site told me I was blocked "for security" reasons.
Have no idea what's up with that, so I came on from my office Mac and reregistered. If you want to see some background on this problem search under "BobMac" or http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa;jsessionid=aRm_A7-yLGvhg6SM83?messageID =2669864&#2669864
I'd done almost everything suggested except change the battery. I was very thankful to get my Finder back and appreciate the folks who helped with that.
I still have a compute I never really have been able to use.
The routine..... I Boot. Machine will have kernel panic or, far more often, a simple freeze (cursor locks in position) anytime during start up or within the first ten minutes of use. One or the other always happens.
Restart. Often get another cursor freeze within first few minutes.
This may go on for ten or twenty times, or maybe just once, after which the Mac will stay on and operate normally for hours. (I have avoided any RAM intensive use, however, ,leery that it might crash. But I really need to use it for serious graphic work at this point.)
The one reccomendation I hadn't followed was to replace the battery, so I did that and a funny thing happened: I crash just as often but now the cursor stays alive and the Finder itself freezes rather than the other way around. Click on anything and nothing happens. Figure that.
Another oddity: I've saved (but not closed) new text documents and after a crash they simply don't exist. The same with TIFF documents - saved but not closed and when I restarted they didn't exist. Of course it has more often happened that saved documents did exist after a restart but it's far from a sure thing.
Forum posts seem to zero in on RAM when this happens.
The single processor MDD came with a 256k stick. If I run just that the kernel panics and freezes are far fewer, but it's not enough RAM to do anything.
I've tried nine different RAM sticks from five different companies, in every combination possible, with and without the origianl Apple 256k stick, in every possible combination of slots.
Adding one 512 stick to the apple 256 stick makes the problem bad enough so the machine can't really be used. Adding two makes it worse. Adding three (1.75 total) makes it just one panic or freeze after another, most during booting. I don't believe all nine sticks could have been bad.
When any RAM stick from any company installed the hardware check on the CD that came with the machine show a bad RAM stick about one out of three times (making no RAM changes between test runs - on the same sticks, in other words.) But, again, all nine sticks from all five companies can't be bad.
(Don't know if this matter but I started with 10.3.4 and gradually got to 10.4.7 but the OS had no effect.)
Any and all input will be appeciated.
    Thanks, Fredatosh

    Thanks for the replies.
    Tom:
I bought the Tiger DVD. Panther was installed on the G4 when I got it and I updated through all the steps when notified by Software Updater.
I'll try booting from the CD when I get home, though I remember doing this at times in the past and my recollection is that it had no effect on panics or crashes.
By "zero the disk" you mean erase it? That's a pretty large and drastic step that I'd rather save until I have run out of every other option, a point I seem to be rapidly approaching.
I use SuperDuper to back up the disk to a Firewire HD and I suppose that any corrupt file that might exist on the OE HD was transferred, so reinstalling files from that drive after I wiped the OE HD would be pointless. I'd have to wipe both.
    lzbrac:
Sorry to hear of your adventures. I happened to read a British Mac magazine last evening and a reader mentioned, off hand, that he'd had a MDD for a year and it was nothing but a problem, and then went on to ask a question about his new G5. Is the MDD known as a problem machine? There seem to be a lot of posts about it here and elsewhere.
I have no other G4 MDD to compare it to but the fan doesn't seem to run an abnormal amount of the time; it's obvious when it is running, though. I understand that's normal with this model and the noise level doesn't bother me.
When I get home I'll check to see if the video card has its own fan, though I don't recall noticing anything obvious. It's the card that came with the machine.
I have run the Apple Hardware Test off the disk many times. As I mentioend, about one time out of three, or maybe half the time, it tells me my RAM is bad. The same RAM passes the other times.
I've run TechToolPro, DriveGenius and DiskWarrior many times. It wasn't easy because the machine would freeze often, but I got through everything except the defrag/optimize. That would stop somewhere during the run - never the same place twice - and say the disk couldn't be degragged/optimized. Only after trying many times did I finally get past that test. In the end I passed all tests on all three apps. The same with Disk Utility and Permissions Repair.
Reformatting the HD and reinstalling Tiger isn't too appealing, as I mentioned in my reply to Tom. if it comes to that I may have to, but I'd like to explore every avenue before that.
I have reset the CUDA button a number of times, and checked the seating of all ribbon strips, CPU, RAM and PCI cards. As many RAM modules as I've tried believe me, I'm getting very good at making sure items are carefully and correctly seated.
The change in freezes when I replaced the battery still puzzles me (from freezes where the cursor froze to freezes where the Finder froze and the cursor remained live.)
My apologies for stating RAM capacity in kilobytes rather than megabytes. Fast typing and slow brain equal corrupt results.
One thing I've failed to mention is that I've purchased a lot of "small" apps and downloaded them. Everything from SuperDuper to Bookpedia. And a few "hackies", when I first got the machine - killing the start up tone, making apps appear in the apple menu like OS9, etc. I have also loaded a lot of full sized programs, from Word and Nisus Writer to Painter, Photoshop (and a ton of plug-ins), FileMaker, Chronosynch and Illustrator. None of these installations seemed to alter the crashing behavior, though when I first got the machine I installed a bunch of stuff and then lost use of the machine for a number of months.
What I'm getting at is: Could any of those early installations be causing the problem?
A couple books have hinted that OS9 corruption of any kind (ext. conflicts, font corruption, file corruption, etc.) could screw up smooth operation of OSX. I bought this particular machine because it was the last that would boot from OS9 and I figured I'd be upgrading my apps slowly. But if 0S9 or OS9 Classic is the problem I'd reluctantly be okay with thrashing either or both, I guess. (I still have a few apps that are OS9 that I want to use but won't be upgrading.)
Still, everything supposedly points to the RAM, including the books, and the less RAM I use the closer to normal the machine behaves.
    Thanks,
    BobMac
