IWeb empty RSS Feed?

Hi there, i am on the most current Version of iWeb, now i realized that my Blog RSS Feed is always empty, i click subscribe and Safari says there are no items, checked the XML File abd it is empty, my Blog has already 10+ Entries, but none of them are visible in the Feed, anyone an idea?
I publish to MobleMe with iWeb...

And again, I suggest that everyone report the bug via the Safari "Report Bug to Apple..." selection under the Safari menu.
Pastor: Tech Support does not code the interoperability between say iWeb 09 and Safari, or iWeb 09 and internet browsers. IWeb's issue is probably a bug in their code. Tech Support can only guide you through 'user error' issues, or workarounds within user accessible software and hardware.
Since this issue is more global; i.e. everyone's site was working one day and then not the next, it is a coding or server side (how the code is executed) problem.
NOTE: the "Report Bug to Apple..." selection under the Safari menu DOES NOT SAY: "... Safari Bug ...". I predict that if enough "Report ..." via the Safari menu, Apple's software people will start talking to each other and resolve their interoperability issue between iWeb and internet browsers (Safari).
Calling Tech Support is only going to get someone who will work through a troubleshooting script. If the troubleshooting documentation they have doesn't cover interoperability between the web development software and the internet browsers, then everybody is stuck until someone dares to report it as a bug. When Apple's other programs get a bug reporting feature directly, I'll be happy to utilize that feature, but until then Safari's Reporting link allows you to send both a screenshot and the web page code so that someone on the coding side of things can see that this needs a fix.
Thanks Bobby!

  • Rss:PubDate gives too much info to iWeb Blog RSS feed

    Hi All!
Blog pages are setup in iWeb, and I've got an external "bot" that subscribes to the RSS feed from the blog. I'm grabbing the feed and stripping the {rss:pubDate}, {rss:title} and {rss:description} fields from the feed to re-format for posting in a discussion forum. (Note: no copyright issues here, as I write the blog, publish the feed, and host/admin/moderate the forum.)
I'm wondering if the {rss:PubDate} field can be stripped down to include less information in the feed? It seems the PubDate is derived from the date and time of the blog post that's feeding it. ie: I enter 12/28/1993 in the blog entry "Date" field... the RSS feed comes out with the date I entered, AND the time of day and GMT offset the post was created. I don't need the time of day and GMT offset in my forum post headlines... is there any way to put less information into the {rss:PubDate} field via the blog entry page in iWeb? I'd like my {rss:PubDate} field to read "12/28/1993" instead of "12/28/1993 04:23:57 -0800"
    Ideas?
    -Case

    Bonjour
For RSS feed, iWeb only use the URL you write in the Site Publishings settings. Make sure that you've written http://thesnugglycactus.net/ and not https://thesnugglycactus.net/
But I don't really think that you wrote https, otherwise RSS feed would not be your only issue.

  • IWeb Blog RSS feed no longer updates

When I originally published my iWeb blog to .Mac, the RSS feed contained all 3 posts. Since then the RSS feed hasn't updated, although I've added several new entries to the blog. I've checked the source code of the RSS feed and it only contains the original 3 posts.
Any suggestions for getting the RSS feed to update?

Follow-up post. Strangely, when checking ths RSS feed from IE at work, I see the new posts in the source data of the feed. So this is not an iWeb problem, but probably related to the more general RSS update issues within Safari.

  • IWeb-created RSS Feed - How to Modify keywords?

I have a podcast with 2 episodes that have been approved by iTunes, but they are still not showing up in a Search. I keep reading about people entering keywords into their RSS feed to help .... but how do I do that? Remember I'm using iWeb. Thanks.

Hi -- I use iWeb too and had a lot of problems trying to let it generate my rss file. Finally I downloaded the program Podcast Maker and that works just beautifully. The latest version even tracks uploads of your audio files for you. The one problem is that you need to ensure that you upload the rss file to the proper folder on your server (it's in prefs but does not default to where you might think). Good luck!

  • IWeb produces RSS feed that produces iTunes error message -5002

I am publishing my second podcast using iWeb and my .Mac account. However when I publish and submit the podcast to iTunes, after asking for my login iTunes gives me an error message saying that there is a problem with the iTunes store (error-5002) and that I should try again later. Of course trying again later has not worked. When I contacted Apple support via email they indicated that I should change the RSS feed's title and link which I have no idea how to do in iWeb. I did change the RSS feed url by changing the name of the pages in iWeb, but this produced no change in the error message.
I am otherwise able to use iTunes and able to publish to .Mac. I am also otherwise able to go to my site and hit the subscribe button which makes it appear in iTunes (at least using Firefox - in Safari it stalls). Any ideas would be great!
    FYI- My feed is: itpc://rss.mac.com/nefserrano/iWeb/iPsycPodcast/VideoPage/rss.xml

I believe Apple has officially assumed responsibility for this problem. See: http://discussions.apple.com/ann.jspa?annID=383.
In the meanwhile I'm keeping this post active until it is solved. At least we have some sense that Apple is working on it.

  • IWeb, URL & RSS Feed Question

    Hi,
I am trying to submit a video podcast to iTunes. I made the site with iWeb. I published it to a folder since I was placing it another hosting service.
    1. When I publish to a folder iWeb asks for an address to set up the feed. My website is www.mediasupport.net. The address of the podcast page (one with the purple tower) is:
www.mediasupport.net/podcast/podcast.html. The address of the page with the actual movie on it is:
    http://www.mediasupport.net/Podcast/2F164FF5-5706-41CE-9322-799D016FD259.html.
    2. What address do I use for the URL that iWeb asks for when you publish to a folder?
    3. When I go to iTunes to check to check for a valid feed I always get an error like -" link does not appear to be a valid..."
The last address I tried was itcp://www.mediasupport.net/Podcast/2F164FF5-5706-41CE-9322-799D016FD259.html
    Thanks for your help,
    Phil

Where are you seeing these 'Play' buttons? I don't see any in the associated website, and the feed wouldn't contain them anyway.
All your episodes appear when subscribing in iTunes. All five episodes in the web page version of the Store page at
    https://itunes.apple.com/podcast/chris-brake-show-podcast/id725989655
but in the Store itself only the episode of 20 October appears, though the Store claims to be listing four episodes (it would be normal for today's episode not to have appeared yet). This I'm afraid is a bug in the Store which has been intermittently appearing for some time, and there isn't really anything you can do about it. Hopefully it will sort itself out eventually: your feed is OK.

  • Naming your RSS feed?

I'm sorry if this is something obvious, but I've looked and looked and can't seem to find what I need...
I have a site with a blog created in iWeb 09 and published via MobileMe (although with my own domain name). The blog page uses the iWeb-created RSS feed link. When you follow that link online, the title of the page is simply "The Blog," rather than my site name. Similarly, if you subscribe to it, posts read in Apple Mail show "The Blog" as the title in that white-on-blue section across the top. (I'm subscribed to other RSS feeds in Mail, and they each display individualized titles.)
So how do I name the RSS feed?
    Thanks!

    My 2 cents,
When you publish your site I think IWeb ask you to enter your website name in a box and underneath that box they explain why (specialy for RSS feeds). Did you do that?
I had a hard time to figure that RSS feed button to work but I think entering the website path solved my problem.

  • How do I get the RSS feeds to work in iWeb'08 when published to FTP server?

There are so many unresolved questions because I have published to an FTP server (Netfirms). HOWEVER, my next task at hand is to resolve the issue of a non-working RSS feed and download capabilities.
    The published website is www.vibrationalvoyages.com.
When using Cyberduck to upload to Netfirms, I have to call the file name vibrationalvoyages.com because Netfirms organizes my files under a main folder called www (I also purchased the .org and .net extensions along with the singular spelling of the title, have forwarded those url's to the .com extension, which means I have different website names under Netfirm's main folder www, all pointing to www.vibrationalvoyages.com).
I have to drop the www. in front of vibrationalvoyages.com when publishing to a folder on my computer so, when Cyberduck uploads the files into the main www folder, they are read correctly and published as www.vibrationalvoyages.com. In Cyberduck, the ftp address to upload is vibrationalvoyage.netfirms.com
Before uploading, I use iTweak to insert the Statcounter tracking codes. Then, I use Rage to optimize the site to cut down on the weight (lots of photos). Then, finally, I get to upload which takes about an hour and a half.
SO, HOW DO I GET THE RSS FEEDS TO WORK AS WELL AS THE OPTION TO DOWNLOAD AN MP3 RECORDED MEDITATIONS? I eventually also want to include the download option of podcasts.
Please help! I am doing the best I can to stay in love with Mac but he is turning out to be a pot load of work and the love affair is wearing a little thin.
I haven't even asked about why iWeb still calls some pages 'The family picnic" or why it switches the url addresses to the individual pages. Probably because in the early stages, I copied an entry rather than just do a new one... but I'll worry about that later. I want to get this 'fixed' first and then I'll address the issue, following Roddy's advice to another writer about installing a flash player, for easy download of the MP3 meditations and for when I record the lessons as podcasts. Until I get this RSS issue resolved, however, podcast downloads are out of the question!

    Thank you for checking, Tom,
I'm confused. What do YOU get when you push the feed button? And why is it working on yours and not either of my machines?
Today, my Mac (w/Safari 4) gets the same error message: Safari can’t open the page Safari can’t open the page “feed:http://vibrationalvoyages/vibrationalvoyages.com/DivineLight_Vibrations_Principles_andApplications/rss.xml”. The error is: “The feed could not be loaded because the content is not in a known feed format.”
My little ASUS (with a Linux operating system) gets a screen that says "The requested URL was not found". The URL on that page is http://vibrationalvoyages./vibrationalvoyages.com/DivineLight_Vibrations_Principles_andApplications/rss.xml
On both error messages, the URL I was checking was:
    http://www.vibrationalvoyages.com/DivineLight_Vibrations_Principles_and_Applications/Divine_Light_Vibrations_Principles_ andApplications.html
The last URL was, of course, the URL generated by iWeb.
    So, my question still is:
HOW CAN I GET MY FEEDS TO WORK PROPERLY? If the problem is there shouldn't be an http:// after feed: then, how do I get iWeb to set it up properly?
    Any ideas?

  • IWeb 08 and RSS feeds on godaddy

Hello friends - I am setting up a website to be hosted on godaddy. I had no problems uploading the site using easyiwebpublisher. However, I want to use the blog function. I set up the blob on iweb and I can read them on the site, but when I click the "subscribe to RSS" link on my page it says:
"The page you tried to access does not exist on this server. This page may not exist due to the following reasons:
You are the owner of this web site and you have not uploaded (or incorrectly uploaded) your web site. For information on uploading your web site using FTP client software or web design software, click here for FTP Upload Information.
The URL that you have entered in your browser is incorrect. Please re-enter the URL and try again.
The Link that you clicked on incorrectly points to this page. Please contact the owner of this web site to inform them of this situation."
Any help on how to get the RSS feed to work w/o mobileme?
I understand it may not work without MobileME but I wanted to know if anyone has a workaround.
    One more bit of data:
When I publish to folder the pop-up has me enter the URL for my site because "iWeb uses the URL to provide an RSS feed for your blog."
Does that mean I put http://www.weirdfantasy.com/ or should I put the URL for my RSS feed page? http://www.weirdfantasy.com/WeirdFantasy/News/rss.xml
I put http://www.weirdfantasy.com/ and I get the error message.
    Jawko -out...

If I upload the index.html that isn't in the sitefolder, won't it just overwrite the one in the sitefolder?
No. You can't overwrite something inside a folder with something you put outside the folder. It is normal for there to be an index.html in both places in an iWeb site.
I just did that using the godaddy FTP uploader and now I can't get to my homepage. Says it can't be found.
I recommend that you never use the uploader provided by a host, as they often result in things not being uploaded correctly. Instead use a real ftp app.

  • How to use iweb rss feed in an iphone web app?

So this is my dilemma.  I wanted my iweb turned into a web app using the rss feed.
This is simply done cause of the "Add To Homescreen" feature.
While the RSS feed works beautifully on safari... it does not read as a webapp.
This surprised me cause I thought it would still be safari that would be loading my web app.
I tried everything to get my RSS feed to work in a web app but i failed miserably.
Is there a fix for this?

Adding to the homescreen doesn't make it a webapp.
It creates a shortcut to the webpage, just as dragging a url to the desktop creates a .webloc file.
    You want an iWeb "webapp"?
Add this page to the homescreen and then click that icon :
    http://www.wyodor.net/_Demo/Fancy/Dynamic_Text.html
Then click the links in the dynamic textboxes.
I leave it to you to figure out how it's done. Hint : read the documentation.
To summarize : you want a fix for a problem that does not exist.

  • Rss feed folder won't upload in iweb

I know that you cannot have a space in the name of a file that is used in your website because it won't upload.  So instead you need to use a _ or just make the file name one word like "picofme" instead of "pic of me".  I used the included RSS widget to put my blog into my iweb website.  It displays fine in iweb.  I published the site to a folder so that i could upload it to my site (hosted by yahoo) via Cyberduck or Filezilla.  Everything uploads expet for the RSS blog widget.  The space where the feed should appear is blank on my published site.  As I'm uploading my site files everything uploads except for these errors:
Scripts/Widgets/RSS Feed/arrow-link.png: No such file or directory.
Scripts/Widgets/RSS Feed/error-glyph.png: No such file or directory.
Scripts/Widgets/RSS Feed/Icon.png: No such file or directory.
blackoutrecordings/Scripts/Widgets/RSS Feed/localizedStrings.js: No such file or directory.
/Scripts/Widgets/RSS Feed/RSS-placeholder-default.png: No such file or directory.
It all seems to be related to the RSS Feed folder.  How can i fix this?  I tried renaming the folder before i uploaded and it didn't help either.
    thanks you!

I just used the code they gave me & plugged it into a HTML Snippet
    <script type="text/javascript" src="http://output84.rssinclude.com/output?type=js&id=411293&hash=a8a6a8054cb7b82b437 63b4527adf319"></script>

  • Iweb rss feed not working

I published my website (www.nigelreblochon.com) to a folder, then uploaded (using cyberduck) to my webhost. For it to work properly there, I had to remove all items from the folder iWeb created for my site (lets call the folder nigel). The site works fine except for the fact that the podcast feed no longer works because the files needed are no longer in the "nigel" folder. What to do, I would give up the rss feed if there is no other solution. Any help would be apreciated.

well, i didi that. only problem is the index.html
that was sent with the iweb folder was for my .mac
site instead of the nigel site (since iweb always
publishes EVERYTHING! instead of just something.)
If you have multiple sites inside iWeb, then to have the index.html refer to the nigel site, just make sure that the nigel site is at the top of the list in the site organizer when you publish to your local drive.
    am
i right in assuming that setting up a new user
"nigel" and working on iweb from there would rectify
    my problem.?
Yes, as long as nigel is at the top of the list of your sites (or the only site of course) inside iWeb when you publish. You could make it the only site by putting a copy of your Domain file in the appropriate place in the new account and opening iweb and deleting the other sites.

  • Changing RSS Feed in iWeb

I use iWeb'09, GarageBand and MobileMe, and want to find out how to simply change the existing RSS feed for my podcast series in iWeb without resorting to using any further applications.
    Many thanks in advance.

You can edit the RSS feed in any plaintext editor.
Or leave it to iWeb to update the file.

  • Editing RSS FEED in iweb

    Hi,
I created an audio podcast on iweb 08 with my mobile me account. The podcast appears in itunes as a video podcast? Can anyone help me with that? How can i edit the rss feed in iweb in order to have better tags on my podcast?
If smeone has an answer for this your help is appreciated.
    Thanks

I have found my XML page and attempted to insert some lines using TextEdit but this just appears to corrupt my feed.
If the file you're editing has an ".html" extension, then this from TextEdit's +Help viewer+ may be relevant:
If you want to work with an existing HTML file, choose File > Open and select the file you want. Be sure to select “Ignore rich text commands.” When you save the file, it remains a “.html” file.
...And there are other places where important selections are made for HTML files:
In TextEdit's Save dialogue, select "HTML" from the +File Format+ menu.
    In TextEdit's +Preferences > New Document+ tab, select +"Plain text"+.
In TextEdit's +Preferences > Open and Save+ tab, select +"Ignore rich text commands in HTML files"+.
XML is not HTML your last post is irrelevant you should know what you're talking about before providing recommendations.
Is this a late April Fools joke?
    funky_ben,
You do not add XML data into an html file it should be inserted into an XML file look over the iTunes tech spec page provided unfortunately reading comprehension is required.

  • IWeb wont update RSS feed

Im currently working on my website at www.ottoferdinand.com
I have already published it and have 5 blog entry on the web. As you can see i put the rss feed link in front of my web, but the feed just wont update. It will only show the first 3 blog entry. How can I fix it? To make the rss feed updated properly each time I add new blog entry??
    Thanks.

The method for transferring iTunes to another feed is described here:
    http://www.wilmut.webspace.virginmedia.com/notes/podcast.html#move
However as this involves adding a tag to the feed you cannot do it in iWeb itself. You could do it this way:
Download your feed and open it in TextEdit in PLAIN TEXT MODE, not Rich Text which is often the default.
Add the tag as described in my page.
Re-upload the feed using an FTP program. Do not subsequently make any amendments in iWeb for two weeks.
Alternatively email Support at podcasts 'at' apple.com and ask them to move it (give them the URL of your Store page and both feed URLs) - there's no guarantee they will but they have done for some people.
