Iweb, google maps/earth .kml or api

i am trying to do is put a web album on my iweb website, i would like to have the photos shown in a google map such as using in a kml from google earth or maybe create it in "my maps" and embedding it in on my website. any ideas how i can do that or am i doomed to only be able to link it to another webpage not made with iweb? my friend has done so using wordpress for the and the site is http://www.aaron-and-erika.com
he used a javascript which i tried to convert to a html snippet and failed horribly.

I have seen a tutorial (Google Maps demo Custom Markers ) by Raymond Camden
posted in the new issue of Appliness magazine  on the iPad and they got PDF version as well check it out. http://appliness.com/code/Appliness-10-Jan-2013.pdf

  • Google Maps Lacks KML Support

For some reason, the Palm Pre version of Google Maps does not support KML files.  The full web version allows you to enter the URL to a KML file hosted on a web server into the search box and it will display the points in the KML file on the map (just like Google Earth does).  This also works on other mobile platforms, including the iPhone/iPod touch, and some Windows Mobile phones.  Does anyone know if this is going to be added?  I use this feature in Google Maps for fleet management.  I foolishly assumed that the feature set in the Pre version of Maps would be similar to the iPhone and other platforms.

Post relates to: Pre p100eww (Sprint)

I read through the posts and I'm happy this has been put on the "list".
I work for a state agency and I'm working on developing free map sets for mobile phones (e.g. hiking trail information).  I got the Pre to help me with testing and I'm extremely dissapointed to see that .kml's and .kmz's are not supported. Had I known this I would have gone with a blackberry and would advise others against purchasing the pre.
These units have great GPS capabilities making them really practical for importing data sets, this is very dissapointing. Perhaps I'll just have to put a note on our webpage saying that the Palm Pre doesn't support mobile google map files....

  • Iweb & Google Map

I am a 1st time Iweb user and am working on a fairly simple wed site. I have seen this topic http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=10968590&#10968590 but have a different question or problem.
I used the HTML snippet and inserted the code for my Google Calander. When I try to use the Calander (look at upcomming events) etc.. the HTML code appears. when I click on the Calander 3 times and it is now selected, I close the HTML code window and I can view the Calander. What am I doing wrong or is this just happening in Iweb. I have not yet published it yet, I want to make sure all is working before I replace the old site.
    Thanks

The subject is Google Maps, the content is about the calendar.
What code did you paste in the HTML Snippet?
You paste the code in the Snippet, then try to use it, then you close the HTML snippet and then you can view it.
It seems the order of events you describe is rather confusing. But in the end the calender shows. Isn't that the purpose?
And what do you see when you publish the page?
And you don't replace a site just because the calender does/does not work. Use a duplicate page and practice on that.

  • IWeb Google Maps and Photo Gallery Question

I have a Website I started to create a while back. Is there a way to insert a google map and some type of photo gallery
into my site, now that MobileMe is gone???  I really liked the simplicity of iWeb. Is there anything else out there?
    Thanks, Eric U

You can still insert Google maps into your site - you just need to do it as you did before the Google maps widget arrived.
Go to Google maps and create the map you want and then copy and paste the code and place it in an ordinary html snippet and then click on Apply and the map will appear.
Also, another tip - you could have found all the answers that you were looking for before even posting your question by searching this forum and there have been literally hundreds of posts on the same topics of Google maps and slide shows.
Suggest you search the forum and look for posts by Old Toad and Roddy, who have found alternatives.
You don't need to stop using iWeb - if you have it use it, but just upload to another host/server.
There are plenty of alternative out there - again a forum search would have given you answers.
Take a look at RapidWeaver, Sandvox, Freeway Pro/Express and Flux 4.  You can download free trials of all of these and most are available for purcahse from the Mac App Store.

  • Iweb google map link

I am using iweb (novice) to build my fishing club website, I want to insert a google map to show fishing locations. When I attempt this by following the guide int he help section I get the message that Mobileme is closed..... Cn anyone out there advise me please, is this a permanent situation?

Many thanks, I guess it only came to light when i started building my website. I have solved the issue i think by taking a link from Google maps and hyperlinking it directly.

  • How to show Google Maps and Earth in a video.

I recently videoed my grandaughter's wedding but didnt get any footage suitable for the opening sequence.
There is a good shot of the church (in country Australia) on Google Maps & Earth so I though, for a background for the opening titles, I could zoom in from outer space on the church like you can zoom with Google Maps!
Is there a way anyone can think of a way of getting the pics directly other than putting my camera in front of the computer monitor screen?
Perhaps there is an app that can capture moving computer screens?
Google zoom goes in big steps. Once I had the frames of hundreds of jpg's, is there an effect to automatically get a smooth progression so it appears to zooms smoothly?
Manully resizing and adding intermediate frames sounds so lengthy that I might not live long enought to see the final result!

There are many applications to record screen activity. Some free, some not. Most commercial one will allow you to download a trial version (although probably limited in some way (e.g. maximum recordable time, or a banner).
The two most famous (probably)  are the free CamStudio and the commercial Camtasia. Note that on the CamStudio page there is a Google link to the commercial product. The links for the free CamStudio are about 2/3 of the way down the page. Even Microsoft has a free offering - Expression Encoder (although it's not too clear if the free version captures screen activity).
    Cheers,
    Neale

  • When i try to use my google maps widget i get mobileme is closed...any suggestions?

Can anyone advise how my mobileme account was linked to the iweb "google maps" widget. i get mobileme is closed when trying to use the widget on my new website

The Google Maps widget had "API's" that were hosted on the MobileMe Servers.
You can still use google map however, you will need to get the embed code from google and paste it into a "HTML Snipet" in iWeb
You will want to copy the "<iframe" for the html Snippet

  • Saving google map as static image

Is there a way to save the image of a location in google map
as static? is there any other way to do it?
    Thanks in advance

not quite sure what you mean but technically if you want to
    capture the image of
a google map use the static API:
    http://code.google.com/apis/maps/documentation/staticmaps/
    and cf8's imageNew() or <cfImage action="read"> to
    capture the map image &
imageWrite() or <cfImage action="write"> to write the
    image file to your server.
legally, not sure this is OK w/google maps' TOS:
    http://code.google.com/apis/maps/terms.html
though i guess maybe if you were doing this to improve your
    app's performance it
    might be ok???

  • Can I use Google Maps in iPhone application and charge for it?

I'm looking to create a location-based application for the iphone that uses a map to display locations. I'd like to use a UIWebView to display Google Maps using their javascript API which shows a map hosted on my web site.
When my app is finished, can I charge for it in the App Store, or will this be a violation of the Google Maps API Terms of Use?
Are there any other non-free iPhone apps that embed Google Maps?
    Thanks, Scott

    My interpretation of the following:
Google Maps API Terms of Service wrote:
The API may be used only for services that are generally accessible to consumers without charge. Accordingly, You may not use the API for any service that requires a subscription or other restricted access, or for which a fee is charged.
... is that there's no way you can charge for an app that uses the API.

  • Create .kml based google map in iWeb

Using iWeb 08, I can easily and successfully insert google maps into my pages using the web widget. I am then limited to an address though for the base map.
Does anyone know whether it is possible to insert a google earth based .kml file in iWeb so that when a user opens the page, the desired placemarks etc... are displayed and available?
If so, how might I go about accomplishing this?
any pointers are very much appreciated!

Don't use iweb2 google map widget.
Instead, go to google map, enter the GPS coordinates, then add it using HTML Snippet. See this thread:

  • IWeb page generates IE9 error for Google Maps API key

My iWeb site generates an error in IE9 "This web site needs a different Google Maps API key". Is there any fix in iWeb for this?
I've found this link that offers a solution for IE9 users. It seems to be a bug with IE9 mixed content security settings, but people will blame my website and not their browser
    http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/ie/forum/ie9-windows_7/ie-9-is-telling-me-my- website-needs-a-different/59bfa1ed-f757-e011-8dfc-68b599b31bf5
Excerpt from that site "Okay, I resolved the issue. I went into my Security settings. Under Miscellaneous I changed Display mixed content to "Enable". I believe there is a bug in the Display mixed content feature. I should be able to keep the setting at "Prompt", then see the content when I click the appropriate option when prompted. I believe the Google Maps API message was shown in error."

You have to get your own API key: https://code.google.com/apis/console/
My map uses a custom solution (Web Apps & Google Maps API V3) and is still working fine.

  • In iWeb, Why should my Google map be linked to MobileMe

I have a Google map on my website.
Now that MobileMe has closed I cannot use Google Maps.
In iWeb, Why should my Google map be linked to MobileMe when I have never joined MobileMe?
    Any help please

The Google map widget assets were hosted on MobileMe.
Use the Google Map code in an HTML Snippet instead.

  • Iweb Widget Google Maps doesn't work anymore

Hello, I wanted to update my website and I experienced that teh Widget of Google Maps is not working anymore. You can drag it on the page and then enter an adress. If you choose "apply" it is not working. How can I solve this problem?

This probably means that you are using iWeb 08 or iWeb 2 and you are correct that this will not run on the latest software, however iWeb 09 or 3 will, so if you want it to work, you will have to purchase iWeb 09, contained in either iLife 11 or iLife 09 via Amazon.
No, of course you won't find iWeb for sale in the App store because as this thread has been telling you, both it and MobileMe have not existed for at least that last 2 years and Apple withdrew support for iWeb sometime ago along with MobileMe, which has now become iCloud.
If you want iWeb 09, you will have to purchase it from Amazon - this is the only way that you can get it, but now might be a good time to move on and use some software that is both sold and supported such as EverWeb.  Take a look at it.  It is designed to be like iWeb but you can do a lot more.
