Iweb hit counter stats

I know I can get a 3rd party hit counter, but I am curious if I can see how many hits my site has received without visiting the site itself? In the old, old .mac Homepage you could see how many hits yoru site received when you logged into your .mac account on Apple's website. Is there a place to do this with iweb? I don't need any fancy stats. Just curious about hits.

    Is everyone else with the iWeb hit counter getting a white question mark in a blue box? My hit counter has been out ever since yesterday afternoon. For a brief time it reappeared and now it is gone again.
    Thank you.

    The counters are back now, but hits made during the outage don't seem to have counted (there were no cookies from my iWeb pages at that time). There is more on this on another thread.
    By the way, Lorna, I didn't answer your last question to me some time ago - my Japanese is far from fluent, but I get by.

  • IWEB HIT COUNTER RESET

    Does anyone know how to reset your hit counter?

    Since you only publish the StatCounter code to your main page, all you have to do is to find the mainpage.html file (either on your iDisk or to your folder, depending on how you publish). Open this file with some sort of text editor like Microsoft Word....then scroll all the way to the bottom of all the html code. You will see the last two statements on the page </body></html>. Just put your cursor right before the </body></html> and paste your StatCounter code right there. That way you won't have to use iWeb Enhancer to do it for you, and maybe you avoid the conflict with the Apple counter that you are having. Just an idea...

  • IWeb Hit Counter Widget

    My counting widget has disappeared from the widget list in iWeb. I deleted it from my page. How do I get it back?

    Try using the Insert->Button->Hit Counter menu option. If that fails then you might have to reinstall iWeb from the disk it came on. To do so you'll have to delete the current application and all files with "iWeb" in the file name that reside in the HD/Library/Receipts folder. Reinstall iWeb and apply the latest updaters.

  • Views Counts on iWeb Hit Counter

    Is there any way to view the number of counts for a page using the iWeb-provided hit counter without going to the actual published page and thereby 'hitting' the site? My .mac account site provides a hit count for my iWeb pages but only for the top 5 pages. How can I see the count for all pages? Thanks.

    Welcome to the discussions, Tatnall.
    No, there isn't currently a way to see the count of any page (without visiting it)outside your top 5 using the .Mac counters.
    Many users who need more information have taken to applying other counters to their pages like StatCounter.

  • IWEb hit counter look alike

    I just recently migrated from idisk to a FTP server and am looking for a new hit counter. I've grown accustomed to the look of the hit counter that iWeb provided. Can anyone lead me to a similar looking hit counter that iWeb uses?

    Find a free counter that has numerals similar to those in the iWeb conter and add it to your webpage.  Then place a text box over it and add the frame that looks closest to the frame around the iWeb counter.  This demo page has a quick rough example of that concept except the numerals are from my counter: HelperSite2 Page-1

  • IWeb hit counter

    In Homepage one can check the number of hits without visiting the page itself, thus avoiding adding a hit. Can the same be done with iWeb, and if so, how?
    Thank you.

    varkgirl and james,
    the problem is that you did not place the code at the correct position! first of all, do not use the AOL install code - but the default html one! when you have this code then follow the instructions below:
    1.open iWeb
    2. create a textbox ON THE PAGE WHERE YOU WANT YOUR CODE, with dimensions of about:
    width: 150
    height: 30
    ADD NO BORDER OR SHADING OR FILL TO THE TEXTBOX!!!
    3. in the textbox type this in: CODEGOESHERE
    4. Publish your site
    5. go to the published folder, or the iDisk/Web/Sites/iWeb
    6. Search for the PAGE WHERE YOU ADDED the textbox in iWeb! it should end in .html!
    7. Open it up in TextEdit and using the search function (Apple-F) search for:
    CODEGOESHERE (or whatever you typed in in step 3)
    8. Now copy the code from StatCounter.com and replace the CODEGOESHERE with the code. eg.:
    FIND : CODEGOESHERE
    REPLACE WITH : the code from Statcounter
    9. Save your file and look at it. now it should count.
    10. REMEBER WHEN YOU publish again, you have to do this process again

  • How does the hit counter work?

    hi
    a while ago i made a web site with a hit counter on it
    i wrote the hit counter using php and a flat text file to store the number of hits
    i experienced a number of problems
    1. if someone visited the site more than once, the hit counter would go up each time they visited. this is not really desired as i really only want to know how many unique hits i get
    2. web bots and web crawlers would also make the counter go up
    does the hit counter that iweb generates suffer from this problem?
    how does it work - from total hits or only unique hits?
    does anyone know it web crawlers effect the counter?
    thanks!

    It is a hit counter and will register even when you visit the website.
    I found this annoying, so I ditched the iWeb hit counter and went to Bravenet and downloaded a visit counter instead. You can customise your design and can have a visit counter instead of a hit counter and you can also set it to ignore your own hits - so if you want to visit your site to see how it looks it won't register your hit. The hit counter will register each time and for every page, whereas a visit counter will just register the visit to the first page and then thats it. If you use Bravenet it will give you stats too.
    I am sure you can get hit counters and visit counters from lots of other sources though.

  • Hit Counter Size

    Is it possible to change the size of the iweb hit counter?
    /Erik

    No. You can use a 3rd party counter like StatCounter which is displayed either as text or an image. It can be set up so it won't record your visits and will give you lots of information about your visitor: where they are from (a map with pins); operating system, browser used, what site they came from and much more. And they are small.

  • Hit Counter not appearing.

    OK I'm using iWeb, the URL is at Godaddy, but the hosting is at my /mac account. I have the family pac. Two web sites the hit counter works just fine. A third one I got it to work on a page where I don't need it, but can't get it to SHOW on the page where I want it. I've tried to put it anywhere on the page, and have restarted etc etc. Suggestions?

    what is the purpose of your link? hit counter? or pushing wares?
    there are only links on your page, people can google 'hit counter'...
    ... at least, you should show an example of what looks like iweb hit counter.
    here is bling: http://www.cyclosaurus.com/Home/Cyclosaurus.html
    (to the left) it looks like iweb hit counter, but it is a StatCounter.

  • No Hit Counter with iWeb 08

    I just got iWeb 08 and added a new article to my blog. After publishing, I find that all my Hit counters are gone from my iWeb pages (still present on my old "Public Folder" page though).
    What happened?

    Judging from a few of the postings here, I'm afraid to ask: Have my Hit counters been reset to zero? That's what they show now. Now, let me confess that when I upgraded to the new iWeb, I redesigned some of the templates. In that process, I temporarily removed the Hit counters that were on the site previously (created with the previous version of iWeb)
    Now I place the Hit Counters on the new pages -- all have been reset to Zero. That mean all my hit data is lost? I thought the hit data was somehow stored by the program in a data file, and that the "hit counter" was simply a graphic field that let you vew the Hits. -- david in KC

  • Hit Counter on iWeb 08

    After I published my page with iWeb 08 the hit counter disappeared from my site. It is still there in iWeb just not in the published site.
    Is there a way to get it to work again? If I delete it and put it back in is there a way to start it at a given number so I don't have to start at zero again?

    You might want to see if it is just a problem with Safari caching. Sometimes Safari draws on the cache instead of updating the page correctly. You can fix this in several ways. This is probably the easiest:
    Open Safari
    In the 'Safari' menu choose 'empty cache'
    Go to your web site and see if the counter appears.

  • Web stats for hit counter

    I've got a nice hit counter built with help from these
    forums. It's working beautifully. Now I'm building the web stats
    page. (no I'm just using CF7 and don't have CFStat from CF8 yet) I
    would like to display the total count for the month (which I've
    got) and then the daily breakdowns with the count for each day. I
    know there's got to be a dynamic way to set the queries up to do
    this without building 30 queries or more. I also want it to be able
    to continue through the years without me having to modify the
    dates.
    Right now my simple query looks like this.
    <cfquery datasource="#dsn#" name="sept">
    select referer, date from website_hits
    where page like '%home.cfm'
    and date >= '09/01/08'
    and date <= '09/30/08'
    </cfquery>
    and the output is correct with
    <cfoutput>#sept.recourdcount#</cfoutput>
    But I know this is not good coding. I must be overwhelmed or
    in a brain fog. Any thoughts?
    Thanks, Wendy

    Maybe I should be more specific. I got the monthly total
    query working using this
    <cfset today = #Dateformat(Now(), "mm/dd/yy")#>
    <cfset daytostart= #DateAdd("d",-thedatepart,today)#>
    <cfset daytostart = daytostart +1>
    <cfset daytostart = #DateFormat(daytostart,
    "MM/DD/YY")#>
    <cfquery datasource="#dsn#" name="monthly">
    select referer, date from website_hits
    where page like '%home.cfm'
    and date >= '#daytostart#'
    and date <= '#DateFormat(now(), "mm/dd/yy")#'
    </cfquery>
    <cfoutput>#monthly.recordcount#</cfoutput>
    <br>
    But now I need to pull out the daily totals. I'm toying with
    the query below. I'm assuming I need to loop this and be able to
    increment the date where it's currently hard coded. Is there a way
    to loop this and assign each date to a variable that I can use to
    display in a table?
    <cfquery datasource="#dsn#" name="thefirst">
    select date from website_hits
    where page like '%home.cfm'
    and date = '09/01/08'
    </cfquery>
