Iweb: I saved my iweb onto dropbox, how can I open it up?

Hello! I opened a dropbox account to store my iweb site folder. I am currently using Mountain Lion. But since I brought back my computer to apple, they replaced the battery, I then had error messages so i deleted everything and only added a few stuff back. I DO HAVE A TIME MACHINE BACKUP. But the folder for my site is stored on Dropbox, how can i open and edit my website through iweb?

Well you saved the wrong thing on dropbox then.  It is NOT the site folder that you need and that is no good because it is the published version of your site and iWeb CANNOT open that published version of your site, because it has NO import facility and is unable to open html and css files, which your published site consists of.
It is the domain.sites file that you need - this stores iWeb data and iWeb can open this.  It is found under your User/Library/Application Support/iWeb/domain.sites.  Be sure that you look in your User Library and NOT your System Library, as iWeb is not there.  Also, in Mountain Lion, the Library folder is not visible, so you need to make it visible before you can get to it.
If you cannot find your domain.sites file - which you should have, unless it has been wiped from your machine, then check your Time Machine backup to see whether you saved your domain.sites file and if you did, then you are in luck and all you need to do is double click on it and iWeb will open it.
If for some reason you did not back up your domain.sites file and did not back up all your user applications, then you are out of luck and you will have to re-build your site from scratch in iWeb.
Remember next time to backup and backup the correct file too - it is your domain.sites file that you need and NOT a site folder - iWeb cannot open anything in a site folder because it is already published and iWeb has no import facility, so cannot open html and css files.

How do I reinstall iWeb 3.0.3?  I inadvertently opened an html file of my website and tried to open it with iWeb '09. I get a message saying “Can’t open file” etc., etc. I’ve tried reinstalling the updated version. Iweb will not open.

Delete the iWeb preference file, com.apple.iWeb.plist, that resides in your Home/Library/Preferences folder. Then launch iWeb and see if it opens.
What happened was trying to open the html file reset the file path that iWeb saves in its preference file to tell it where to go when you launch iWeb.  Deleting the pref file and launching iWeb creates a new file and iWeb looks in your Users/Home/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder for the Domain.sites2 file it uses to create your site.

  • When I opened iweb it opened as a file I deleated. I have a published website with godaddy and would like to update. How can I open the existing iWeb app to the site that is already published?

When I opened iweb it opened as a file I deleated. I have a published website with godaddy and would like to update. How can I open the existing iWeb app to the site that is already published?

You cannot retrieve the already published site as iWeb CANNOT open it - it has no import facility.
You need your domain.sites file, which you can find under User/Library/Application Support/iWeb/domain.sites.  You do not need any kind of account for this because it is your domain.sites file that resides on the hard drive of your Mac anyway.  Find this file and you can alter your website.
Use a spotlight search to try and find it and if this does not work you can download something called Find Any File.  If you really can't find it, then you'll have to start from scratch because iWeb cannot open a site that is already published.

iWorks has disappeared.  How can I open document saved as Word 97 through Pages stored on Dropbox?

Thanks but I don't think this will help. Like I said, all of my add-ons were working fine and compatible until after running a previous version of FF. I am sure they are still compatible, but they are not working at all.
I even checked my profile folder and all of the extensions' data is all still there but FF5 is just not reading it correctly. (like adblock plus... I see the folder for it but FF5 doesn't have it on the add-on manager page when I run FF5)

    Hi
If there is no iDVD on Your Mac (and it's not on newer Macs as Apple discarded it) then You need a program that can do this.
Your Mac can burn CDs and DVDs - BUT DVD as Data-DVDs not as Video-DVDs - they need a program to be encoded and STRUCTURED as such.
    • iDVD is part of the boxed version of iLife'11 and can only be bought outside Apple as on Amazon and e-bay
    • DVD Studio pro - Part of FinalCut Studio Pro bundle - this to has expired and can only be bought second handed. (High price and tough learning Curve - but best ever done.)
    • Roxio Toast™ - Not as elegant as iDVD - but has many other positive additions (I like it as 10-Pro incl BD-component) (now version 11)
    • Burn - only free alternative I know of on internet. Very simple - Just for doing a plain Video-DVD
    Burn http://www.digital-digest.com/software/Burn.html
only You can buy from Apple is
    • FinalCut Pro-X which also can burn to DVD but without any nice themes.
    AppleMan1958
You can also buy Compressor from Apple for $50 US. It will also create DVD and BluRay but without the nice themes.

    Hi!
I encountered a problem a few weeks ago which is a bit like yours. In my case my Apple ID stopped working after I upgraded to Mountain Lion. I finally found out it was because of the fact that my Apple ID has in fact been an alias within my much older MobileMe/iCloud account. And they weren't able to merge or reset the account at first. It took me a lot of mails and a few calls to get them to resetting the account and changing my Apple ID (for the Apple Store, iTunes, etc.) to a different, non-iCloud related email adress.
Anyway, maybe you can call the Apple Support and kindly ask them to reset the password for this ominous @me.com account so you can finally start using it.
Did you try logging into iCloud using your adress with the appendix @me.com because not everybody has got the @icloud.com ending yet. Technically it's no problem to create a new iCloud account. I can understand though that you'd like to get "your name" back .

How can I open file; such as create other programme(Dream weaver...etc)?

So...I want take that file open in iweb09' is it possible?

Imagine iWeb as a database which upon your command creates html files. It's a one-way process. You can generate more html files later but iWeb cannot open them. It only works with the "database" (the domain file).

  • How can I open and edit files that were developed and published by ftp to my host on my old macbook, which I can no longer access.

How can I open and edit files that were developed and published via ftp to my host on my old macbook, which I can no longer access. The HD containing the files cannot be accessed. I want to be able to download the published files to be edited in iweb?

You CAN'T download published files and then edit them in iWeb because iWeb can't open them - it has no import facility so is unable to open any html or css files - a previously published site.
You can download these files yes, but you'll need to use them as a guide or to cut and paste text from there whilst you re-build your site in iWeb.
The only other way is to download the files and then open them with an html editor such as TextWrangler or use one of the other web design programmes out there that is capable of importing html and css such as Dreamweaver of Flux 4.
These are your only alternatives as iWeb can't import and if you want to continue to use iWeb, then you'll have to re-build your site from scratch.  If you do just remember to back up your domain.sites file this time around - it is found under your User/Library/Applicaion Support/iWeb/domain.sites.

  • How can I open a cc2014 file in my cs6 version of Indesign ?

How can I open a cc2014 file in my cs6 version of Indesign ?
I have several files that has been saved in a cc2014 version and I can't open them in my CS6 version of Indesign.
I don t have access to anyone who have the cc 2014 version to convert the file.
How can I do it from my cs6 version?
    THANKS!

You can't do it from CS6.
You have to export to IDML from InDesign CC2014 (or whatever the version it was created in) and then open the IDML in the earlier versoin of InDesign.

  • How can I open my old Apple Works 6 documents now that I have OS X 10.7.2 and iWork 4.1 (pages '09)

I have a lot of Apple Works 6 documents that I can not open now that I Have OS X 10.7.2 and iWork 4.1 (Pages'09).  How can I open and convert those documents.  I really need those documents.

Pages '09 (4.1) should have no problem opening your AW6 word processing documents.
You can open an AW6 wp file in Pages by -
    • Do a Get Info on the AW6 file, then choose Pages from the Open With pulldown menu. Close the Get Info window, then double-click the AW6 file. If you want to do this to all of them, befoe closing the Get Info window click the "Change all" button just under the previous pulldown menu.
    • Start up Pages, use the Open item in the File menu to navigate to and open the AW6 file.
    • Drop the AW6 file onto the icon for Pages.

How can I open items made with apple works

You need to purchase Pages for your iMac. You can buy it from the App Store.
I don't know if the version of Pages for the iPad will open the Apple Works documents. If you have the documents on your Mac and want to open them on your iPad the easiest way I can think of is to open a DropBox (Google it) account and store the documents there. Then you can try to open the documents in Pages on your iPad. If that doesn't work then I know Pages for OS X will open the Apple Works WP documents.

As long as you didn't turn off the layers option in the Save As window, sure. Just open it up and all your layers should be there.

How can I open Adobe Bridge CS6 in high resolution on my MacBook Pro Retina display? When I click Get Info, the "Open in Low Resolution" box is marked and locked. How can I unmark this box? I currently run 10.9.1. I can open Adobe Photoshop CS6 in high resolution without any problem. Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks.

There is no such thing. In CS6 only PS itself is Retina compatible. You would have to use CC for full Retina support.
