IWeb Icon Question

My iWeb icon in my dock has a red dot with a number 3 in it. Can anyone tell me what this means and what I need to do about it?

This means that people have posted comments to your blog/photos which you haven't read yet.

  • Clicking on the iWeb icon does absolutely nothing - cannot get to site

    I am not at all sure what just happened! I have been working on an iWeb site for about a week, sometimes publishing it again when a page needed changes.
    This time I made a graphic modification to all the pages, and then when I published it, it uploaded the pages (I dont remember getting a dialog box saying that "this may take some time . . . you can continue working but do not quit) - ok - that was some time ago - now when I try to open iWeb (I HATE the fact there is no File:Open item)
    it does ABSOLUTEY NOTHING. Where did it disappear to? Can I get it back?
    There is nothing there and I dont know anyway to get to it. Is my work gone?
    When I click on iWeb, the New Page and New Site are dimmed, This is true for both the icon in the Dock and the iWeb icon in the applications folder. Have not quit (tho not much can be selected in the menus and I see no document.)
    In other words, I published a site, and iWeb will not let me edit it.
    Thanks in advance,
    George Bartley

    You can get to your site by typing the uRL into your browser. That way you will see if your updates are there before you start trying to get iWeb to work.
    The URL will be something like...
    http://web.mac.com/username/SiteName/PageName.html
    Make sure you empty the browser cache first.

  • I press the IWeb Icon and nothing happens-can someone who has a clue please walk me through-thanks!!!!

    I click on my iWeb icon and nothing happens…please help!!

    With the amount of information you've provided it's impossible to offer a potential solution.  We can't see your computer so we need to know the details of your problem and setup, i.e.:
    what version of iWeb are you using?
    what system version are you running?
    what exactly happens when you click on the iWeb icon in the Dock? Does the icon move at all or do you get a warning message?
    have you tried clicking on the iWeb application in the Applications folder?
    did you apply any updates or upgrades just prior to the problem occurring?
    what type of Mac?
    how much free space on your boot drive?

  • Flashing Finder Icon/ Question Mark on Boot

    Today I left my 1.33ghz G4 Mac Mini turned on whilst I went to the shop.
    When I came back i found it eith a flashing finder icon/ question mark.
    I restarted it and it booted up a grey screen, then after a while the flashing finder icon/question mark.
    I have tried putting in the OSX install disc and holding down the C key to start up using the CD and nothing happen, all I get is the same grey screen and flashing icon.
    I have also tried pressing the X key, and holding it down and restarting to get up the startup disk menu, but again nothing.
    Pressing 'option' key during start up only gets me a blue background with refresh button on the left and right arrow on the right - with no Boot Up CD or HDD Icon.
    I have also tried resetting the PRAM, it resets, but after it hasn't solved my problem, as i am back to square one with the boot screen and icon.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    big.bad.ben

    I would agree with DP that using a wired keyboard will give better results when holding down the C key. The timing of holding down the C key is tricky, and you might have to experiment with it.
    The question mark means that the Mini can't find a bootable disk. Usually this is because the internal hard drive has enough directory damage that it is not bootable. Usually this can be fixed by reformatting the internal drive or replacing it.
    But if you truly can't boot from the install CD, that suggests a more serious problem with the logic board or RAM memory.
    When you power-up the mini, do you get a series of beeps or light flashes? The pattern of such beeps/flashes is a diagnostic aid to determine what might be wrong. Report back with what pattern you observe.
    Be sure to give the install CD some more tries, varying the timing of holding down the C key. Usually you want to do it right after the startup chime.

    Thanks

    See your last question.

    Select iWeb and type Cmd-I. It will show you the size of that application. Its' 339 MB.
    Is removeing the app as easy as dragging the icon to the trash bin ?
    Yes, in fact it's the same. The icon IS the application.
    BTW, the application is in the Application folder. Just in case you mistake the icon in the Dock.
    And in case you regret your decision, the iweb application is on your Install Disk.

  • IWeb Email Question

    when I insert the email icon and configure the email, when people press the icon it opens their email app filled in with my inserted address:
    1) does iWeb allow me to do a web-email that can be done online rather than with an email app
    2) is there a way to add a security so automatic email (spam) scans don't leave emails (like adding the feature to put in numbers/letters that pop up)?

    Actually, I did create a Gmail address for that. It does direct the email to that address if you click on the email icon.
    The question really meant to be sort of like that: When you use iWeb with Podcast etc so users can leave comments then whoever leaves a comment first has to type in the numbers/letters so automatic spamming can't spam that comment. Now with the email icon, can automatic spamming sent you emails there (since there is no such number/letters typing) or is there a way to activate that option also with emails?

  • Email icon question

    Just got my new 9930 and really like it so far.
    I have a question about email though. I have 3 different email accounts on the phone. 1 gmail, 1 roadrunner and 1 yahoo. Only the yahoo email icon has an icon on it that let's me know it's my yahoo account. Is there anyway to get an icon or something on the gmail and RR email icons to let me know what's what?
    thx

    The others who "don't" see that stuff are most likely using Firefox which has a built in PDF viewer that doesn't have those capabilities yet.
    Good news is it IS possible to disable the built in viewer and use Adobe Reader as the default.
    They need to type "about:config" in the address bar in Firefox (minus the quotes).
    In the configuration page, there is a search bar at the top. They need to type "js" in the bar. A short list of settings containing "js" will appear.
    One setting is "pdfjsviewer disabled" and the value is "false". Right click it to Toggle it to True.
    Then under Tools>Options, in the Applications tab, scroll down to find Portable Document Format (PDF) and Click on the drop-down arrow in the Action column for the above entry and select the PDF viewer you wish to use (the attached image shows "Use Adobe Acrobat (in Firefox)", and should be "(use Adobe Reader (in Firefox)" for people without Acrobat Pro installed.

  • How do I fix that I accidentally dragged the safari application ( an open window I was on and tryed to drag it to repositions) into an Iweb icon on the side bar, now when I open Iweb it says cannot open  /applications/safari.app"   ..

    I had a safari window open, I went to drag it up on to the destop more but my finger slipped and it dropped into the icon on side bar iWeb that I had been working on. now My iWeb app  says "cannot open /application/safari.app" .  Ihave already tryed to drag the iWeb to trash and reinstall the applications cd.  also, since tryng to figure it out via posts oon apple support that seemed similar ( finding in library and under listing etc )
    also.. the tool bar is huge and so I am afraid I  have screwed this computer up...

    Try following.
    First (force) quit Safari, iWeb and all other open applications.
    Drag iWeb to the Trash, empty the trash. Restart mac. Recover iWeb from Time Mache backup before you made the mistake.

  • Iweb issue - question marks ??

    Hello
    I'm a new user to iweb and this is my first post.
    Basically I have been getting used to the iweb app for a few days now and have started putting a basic website tigether as a kind of online cv for the work I do.
    I currently have a small amount of web space (55meg) with my broadband account and have been using this to publish and test my web site.
    I have been using Safari, Firefox and Internet Explorer 5.2 on my G5 to view the web site.
    Generally everything looks fine, but the odd question mark symbol keeps popping up. Ironically the site seems to look best in IE, but question mark symbols show up in all three browsers.
    I wondered if anyone may be able to help with this ?
    Many thanks in advance

    Hi rdfmusic and welcome to the iWeb forum!
    Your problem is a common one when publishing to a non .Mac server but is easily fixed. Tom Gewecke has created a page that addresses this with the solution:
    http://homepage.mac.com/thgewecke/iwebchars.html
    Tom has also set up a page with links to a lot of tips on using iWeb:
    http://web.mac.com/thgewecke/iWeb/1/Tips.html
    Others have also put lots of other iWeb tips in their web sites, you can search in this forum for those who have been most helpful and click on the link to their sites.

  • Iweb/podcast question

    I created a podcast using Audacity. i forgot to put the artist name in the id3 tag. now when i go to iTunes the artist name says UNKNOWN. Who do i change this?
    i used iweb to make my website, and used the podcast page to post my podcast. the RSS feed was given to me by iweb.
    that is the only thing wrong with my podcast. do i need to edit the RSS feed? if i do, how do i do this?
    sorry for the newbie question.
    thanx,
    Mj Timothy Scott

    No, unfortunately not. Not through iWeb, not by any means. If any kind of media can be displayed in a browser - be it audio, video, or still images - it can be downloaded or saved locally by the viewer.
    It's the old adage...Where there's the will, there's a way.

  • IWeb Backup Question

    Hi all,
    I apologize if this question has been asked, but it's late and I kinda was hoping there was a quick answer.
    I have a small website, nothing spectacular, that I created and mess around with on occasion. I made it with iWeb, and published it to my .Mac account. I had a hard drive crash a few weeks ago, and of course, I didn't have everything backed up like I should have. Now, since the site and it's pages are up in my 'sites' folder, it's still online, but my question is this: After downloading that folder from my .Mac account, how do I open it in iWeb again? When I open iWeb now, it just starts up from scratch.
    Thanks much,
    Brian H.

    Hi Brian,
    You can't reopen that site again in iWeb. You see, iWeb doesn't open html files, like mainstream web applications do. It generates html when you initiate a Publish command, and it draws the resources necessary for this from a single file, Domain.sites. This Domain file contains all of your work, created in the iWeb app. It lives on your hard drive in your Home folder's Library/Application Support/iWeb/Domain.sites.
    This is the file you will backup from now on to prevent this from happening again.

  • ACR Settings icon question

    I am using CS4, but expect that the question applies to CS3 as well. I cannot get rid of the small icon (two horizontal lines with two small upward-pointing arrowheads) at the upper right of the thumbnail as seen in Bridge. This icon means that the raw file has a setting, or has had a setting?
    I have tried to get it to disappear:
    1) White Balance: As Shot,
    2) chosing Camera Raw Defaults, or,
    3) chosing Reset Camera Raw Defaults,
    4) purging the cache for the folder,
    5) there is no label, star, Reject etc.
    I admit that these choices are a little confusing to me. Should I assume that if the icon persists, there is still a setting applied? If so, how do I eliminate any applied setting?
    Thanks very much,
    Sonny

    But the default setting that you applied is gone. Don't do it if you spent hours tweaking the files... This tells you what files have been adjusted, and which ones didn't.

  • There is a little red circle with a 2 in it over my iWeb icon

    Hi There,
    I have a rather strange problem and I am a bit embarrassed by it, because I don't know what it means. Anyway when I open iWeb 09, there is a little red circle with a little number 2 in it appears over the iWeb launch-bar icon.
    See this screenshot for a more detailed explanation: https://files.me.com/jasongtelford/otc2kg
    Can someone please tell me what this means because I have looked every where and I cant find out. I am beginning to think that there might be something wrong with my iWeb
    Also can you please tell me how to find whatever thing it is that it represents

    Thanks so much for telling me. I have now figured it out thanks to you LOL it was to do with the comments on my blog

  • Icon question

    I couldn't find a good spot to post this question, so I hope someone sees this and can answer my question.
    I re-installed snow leopard the other day so that I could start this semester fresh and new. But before I did it, I forgot to back up some of the apps I used almost daily. Now most of them I re-downloaded from Apple's Downloads page, and installed the rest. However there is one app I can't find anywhere.
    I don't quite remember the name of it, I thought it was something simple like "FSTICNS" or similar, but I could be way off. Either way it is the MOST simplistic icon maker I have ever found, and now can't find anymore.
    When you opened it up, it was just a cube that would float and spin with a little (X) in the corner to close. If you were to drag a image on the cube, you could then hit the (X) and it would have you save your new image as an ICON. It was AWESOME!!!
    Now of course I haven't used time machine yet, and that is exactly what this was designed to stop from happening. Ugh... If anyone knows of the app I am talking about please, oh please tell me. It was a free and legal download whatever it was.
    THANKS!!!!!

    So, Get Cape.Wear Cape.Fly ?? (ups, possibly wrong hero)
    Regarding the difficulties to find phonebooths with doors nowadays and the not so pleasant temperatures plus snow and wind and all that, made me put cape and pants into my drawer and get out a nice warm blanket
    Have Fun and thanks for the star.

  • Display an icon(question,warning,etc.) inside JDialog(like in JOptionPane)

    Hello,
    because JOptionPane can't use a JPasswordField as the input component, I created a JDialog prompting the user for a password. Now I can't figure out how to show that nice look-and-feel style icon inside the dialog (the question mark that is shown when you use messageType=QUESTION_MESSAGE in JOptionPane). Shortly, this is what I have and this is what I want to get... I tried this:
    dlg.getRootPane().setWindowDecorationStyle(JRootPane.QUESTION_DIALOG)But it does nothing. Could you help me, please?
    Thank you
    Ondra

    Still it doesn't answer my question: how to display the LAF icon inside a JDialog.Huh?import javax.swing.*;
    public class OptionPanePassword {
       public static void main(String[] args) {
          SwingUtilities.invokeLater(new Runnable() {
             @Override
             public void run() {
                new OptionPanePassword().makeUI();
       public void makeUI() {
          JLabel label =new JLabel("Enter Password: ");
          JPasswordField field = new JPasswordField(15);
          JPanel panel = new JPanel();
          BoxLayout layout = new BoxLayout(panel, BoxLayout.X_AXIS);
          panel.setLayout(layout);
          panel.add(label);
          panel.add(field);
          JOptionPane.showConfirmDialog(null, panel, "",
                JOptionPane.OK_CANCEL_OPTION, JOptionPane.QUESTION_MESSAGE);
    }db
