Norm ~ They are permitted — and if you include the URL's prefix, it will be clickable like this:

You can edit a post within 15 minutes of posting — just click on the pencil icon in the post or reply you want to edit. Then make your changes and click on the Edit Message button to post those changes. Each edit re-starts your 15 minute window for re-editing.
By the way, your +Public Profile+ indicates you're running Mac OS X (10.4.6) — if true, you should upgrade to 10.4.11 via the  menu > Software Update...

  • Remove iWeb - iDisk - Revert to Homepage

We moved to the country. Our internet connection is now Satellite. The laptop running the iWeb website is so slow it is unuseable. (That one is a 2003 iBook 12" with 512 mb RAM.)
As far as I can tell .... Publishing using iWeb forces iDisk to turn on and forces automatic syncing. Automatic iDisk syncing does not work on a Satellite connection. It seems to be continually trying to sync in the background eating up RAM and CPU cycles making the laptop useless.
How do I completely turn off the entire iWeb and iDisk system. The user on the laptop can redo her web page using the Homepage programs in .Mac (Safari).
But I want to turn off the iWeb and iDisk compeletly.
    Comments or suggestions?

Yes. 10.4.8 iDisk refused to change to manual sync. Every time I changed it to manual, it flipped back to Automatic (and then failed to sync over the internet connection, hanging the laptop).
I finally kept hacking at it until I was able to completely turn OFF iDisk syncing; and now the laptop seems to work ok.
I have no idea what I did to the user's web pages. I don't want to mess with those pages on the iDisk (.Mac end) until I can take the laptop to an internet cafe in town with a reliable connection.
This is the kind of stuff I expect from Windows, not Mac. I wonder if the Intel chips in the new Mac servers are creating some new and unusual challenges.
    Thanks for your comment.

  • IWeb + iDisk = "only one" passworded site?

Of course, it's not "only one" since you can have as many p-worded sites as you want, but apparently if you use your iDisk, the addressing for the sites during authentication is identical so you're always logging into "idisk.mac.com." Is this why Firefox won't remember the passwords between different sites—because each new site requires a different password but there's nothing to differentiate the different sites during the authentication?
    (Hope that made sense)
Getting kind of annoying have to re-enter my username and password anytime I bounce to a different site on my iDisk...

    Akdream wrote:
usually people set different passwords for different sites thus you have to put it in each time changing from one site to another...
That's what I mean (sorry if my first post was confusing). I'd like to be able to "remember password" for each site, but since they're all linked to "idisk.mac.com" and not something more unique (like "/site1" and "/site2"), if I save password #2, it overwrites password #1, forcing me to re-enter pword #1 the next time I visit site #1. Can this be avoided? Or are you basically forced to use only one username and password if you want to check "remember" and not have to manually enter it each time?

  • Following a major crash - I'm not linked iWeb-- iDisk

    Hi,
I had a major disk crash and had to 'recover' quite a few files. iWeb refused to launch so I trashed the .plist preference file.
iWeb launches, but treats me like I want to use iWeb for the first time. Any ideas on how I can remind iWeb where my web page is? (I can view the page through Safari, so I know it's there)
    I've got version 1.1.1.

    OK,
I found a file called Domain.sites where you said I would (in my recovered files) and copied it to my ... /iWeb folder on my HD. It looked right as the copy generated a dialogue box and I recognised some of the jpeg file names.
However, when I tried to open iWeb it 'unexpectantly quit'. I opened the report and the following are the first few lines:
    Date/Time: 2006-08-07 20:02:40.469 +0200
    OS Version: 10.4.7 (Build 8J135)
    Report Version: 4
    Command: iWeb
    Path: /Applications/iWeb.app/Contents/MacOS/iWeb
    Parent: WindowServer [58]
    Version: 1.1.1 (189)
    Build Version: 5
    Project Name: iWeb
    Source Version: 1890000

    Thread: 0
    Exception: EXCBADACCESS (0x0001)
    Codes: KERNPROTECTIONFAILURE (0x0002) at 0x00000024
I've saved it as at .txt file.
I guess this domain file is corrupted and I will have to rebuild the site from scratch. Thanks for your help!

  • Copying iweb pages from one computer to another

I have iweb pages operational on a G5.
I want to transfer them to iweb on my macbook instead.
I don't want to re-create them from scratch.
    I have a .mac account.
Both iweb programs are the same version.
This is a mac! There must be an easy way to copy the web pages from one computer to another!
I explored the domain file route, copied the file from my G5 to the macbook, and did not get the pages I wanted. Instead I got the start page template. My information was not there.
    Any help out there?

All your information is in a single file called "domain"
By default it should be located in your
    user/library/application support/iWeb/ folder.
Find it, copy it, and move it to the new computer.
The first time you use it on the new computer double click the newly moved "domain" file to start up the iWeb application. Once you do that iWeb will remember that that is the file to open on start-up.
I use multiple computers to edit iWeb and to avoid confusion as to which "domain" file is the most recent, I just keep it on a flash drive. Be sure to keep "domain" backed up safely on your computers and off (CD disks, external hard drives, etc) because if you lose that one file, you've lost all your work. iWeb cannot edit published pages.
The reason you got blank pages is that you have to double click on the newly moved "domain" file to start up iWeb. Otherwise iWeb will start from the blank "domain" file that is already on the computer. You can have many "domain" files on the computer, If you start the iWeb application by clicking the iWeb icon, it will open the last "domain" file edited on that computer, which isn't the one you just moved. There is no other way to access your work.
    Good luck, David

  • Why is Apple killing the Gallery and iWeb?

The loss of iWeb, iDisk and the Gallery is major. The Gallery is beautiful and functional. You have discretion with sharing your photos and videos. There is nothing like it. When it and the other functions are taken away next June when MobileMe disappears, I'll get nothing out of iCloud, as I do not have dozens of devices that need to be synced.   What is/was great about the MobileMe photo galleries is that you could just send a link for friends to click on to see your photos. Viewers did not have sign in to a site, or provide their email addresses in order to view your photos — as has been my experience when others have sent me to Picasa or Flickr to see their pix. Why did Apple have to remove the galleries feature in order to advance iCloud? Was there a technological reason, or just someone arbitrarily deciding that "no one wants this anymore"? Same query about iWeb. I'm generally a big Apple fan, but upgrades/updates that remove useful and appreciated features —  that were unique to Apple — make me cranky.

The reason is they try to make difficoult a sync with phones different from iPhone.
Well: I have an iPhone but if I go to the beach in sommer  I prefer to carry a very small and simple Samsung. And have it synced !!!
They do not understand that even if you drive a Ferrari it is sometime a pleasure to drive a Fiat500 or a Smart.

  • Is there a future for Iweb in Icloud?

What will happen to our websites?  I've heard that apple has extended their patent, that iweb is done when icloud appears, DOES anyone know if they let us know if they will let us know before they cut the cord?

There has been no official word on the fate of iWeb, iDisk, or web hosting.  There has been no official word on what features of iCloud will require Lion and iOS 5 and what will work on earlier OS versions.  I'm sure Apple will let everyone know the answers sometime within the next 12 months.

  • Iweb, SEO tool and Sitemap Automator

I am quite new to iweb and I am confused about how to go about getting my web site to different search engines like Google, Yahoo, etc...... Once I have created the web site in iweb do I need to use an SEO tool to put in tags, meta tags and alternate image text and then use a separate FTP program to upload those changes? When I try to upload changes directly from the iweb SEO Tool I either get a timed out error or login error. What am I doing wrong?
If I get the upload to work do I then use the Sitemap Automator?
Any advice would help at this point.
    Thanks,
    Eva

My hosting provider thinks that I just need to make the changes in SEO Tools and they are applied in iweb, and then I can just upload from iweb like I have been doing.
No you can't because the iWeb pages do not exist until they are published, either to the server or to a folder. SEO has to have the published files to be able to do its thing.
From my understanding I can't use the SEO Tool to upload the changes but what I need to be able to do is to publish to a file, use the SEO tool and then publish the changes I made in SEO with a separate FTP program like Classic FTP.
Correct. If Classic FTP doesn't work well for you give CyberDuck a try. It's free and is well though of here is the forum.

  • IWeb own domain name blocked on MobileMe

    Dear Apple experts,
I had a website created via iweb, hosted at apple with its own domain name www.onetobe.be I didn't manage this myself and the person who do it forgot to cancel the site before mobileme closure and even if the CNAME has been modified at the registrar, the domain still point to mobileme. The new web site works with the root name onetobe.be but any configuration I set at the registrar give either mobileme closed page or nothing. Who can I contact to cancel all registration of this site on apple system.
    Thank you

    Dear Wyodor,
Thank you for your swift and polite answer, I'm not an expert, So sorry if I look like a "rtfm" guy, but this is the reason why I asked for help.
I'm a great apple fan and I was very sad when apple turned down these so useful and easy services such as iweb, idisk, gallery. It seems to me that the "digital me" concept of late M. Job is, well, changing now.
the new web site system for my site (wix) seems to give kind of the same option as redirecting the own domain name to the actual real web site at this wix provider.
If I set the forwarding for onetobe.be to only http://oliviervanhorenbek0.wix.com/onetobe it doesn't work
So I'll asked the registrar how I can un-masquerade the www.onetobe.be.
Any additionnal info for how I can configure the domain "properly" will help me.
Thank you again for your time.

  • IWeb completely unresponsive

OK. This is weird. When I open iWeb, the application launches, the menu bars are there, but no page window is visible. Yet, when I hover my mouse over the emptiness, the little yellow boxes that say things like "This image is a placeholder..." etc show up on the screen. Then, if I hit enough rantom commands, a blank page shows up. It shows my web pages in the little space to the left, but I can't click on them or scroll, or even grab the corner and resize the window. I've repaired permissions, I even did a get info on the domain file and opened up permissions on that to everyone. I can boot on a second drive with 10.4 on it and iWeb works perfectly fine. I reinstalled from the fatory disc, and still the same results. Software update says it's up to date. I don't know what else to do. I used AppZapper and completely deinstalled before my last reinstall and still nothing. Now, I did some work on my site on my other drive booted in 10.4, then dragged the domain file from there to where it needs to be on my 10.5 disc, but the problem really started long before that. As soon as I installed 10.5 (I had to do an archive and install because the machine would power down before the computer would restart after the initial installation), but iWeb has never worked after doing the OS upgrade. I hoped the 10.5.1 update would do something, but to no avail. Anyone have any ideas, short of erasing my entire hard drive and starting from scratch? I'd rather poke hot needles in my eyes than go that route. Anyone else hear of a problem like this. Any ideas on a possible fix? I'm completely stumped.

    garygg wrote:
Well, I tried these things with somewhat limited results at best. One thing I did notice, however—and this may have been the crux of the problem to begin with—is that there was more than one copy of iWeb on my hard drive. I had moved some things into a folder on a backup when I did the Leopard upgrade, and afterward, moved it back on the main HD. In that folder was a copy of the iWeb application. What made me suddenly notice this is, when I was trying the share photos to iWeb trick mentioned above, that a second iWeb icon appeared in my dock. So, to keep this brief, I essentially trashed all the iWebs, reinstalled, removed the prefs and the domain file...and it still doesn't work. What I'm assuming is that by having two copies on the machine, I probably tweaked some kind of data file iWeb uses and just confused the heck out of it. I was hoping maybe this additional information may give you an idea as to what my starting point should be now?
You can have two iweb.app in the system, but you must be *very careful*.
I would suggest that you keep only one iweb.app in your system.
If you have iweb2, you may like to try this solution in this thread:

  • Problem with my podcast downloading to iTunes

The last 2 days, my podcast http://www.rippernet.com/Rippercast/Podcast/Podcast.html has been unable to be downloaded via the iTunes Music Store. People can subscribe ok and have the episodes downloaded into iTunes but cannot get it via it's Music Store page. I get the error message "There was a problem downloading 'Rippercast-Your Podcast on the Jack the Ripper Murders'. The URL http://www.rippernet.com/Site/Podcast/rss.xml" could not be found on the server." It worked fine for roughly month up until this.
I use iWeb and iDisk with a dotmac account for my podcast.
Yesterday I used Dreamweaver to add a line into the rss feed for Music Store artwork, but was having problems a day before this.
    Any help would be appreciated!
    Jonathan

I've gone into the rss.xml file located on my idisk at Web/Sites/RC/Podcast and edited it in Dreamweaver to input the 'itunes new feed url' script to match the one that itunes says it cannot find.
What seems to have happened is that my Url was changed somehow from "rippernet/Site Podcast" to "rippernet/rippercast/podcast/podcast"
Is this the right rss.xml file I edit for the iTunes Music Store? Does it just take a while for iTunes M.S. to refresh?
Is there any support for helping mac podcasters deal with these iWeb-iDisk-iTunes Music Store issues? I don't even know if the problem is on my end or lies with iTunes. I'd rather not tinker anymore with the rss.xml file if I'm not even sure the rss feed is the problem.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, as I record 2 podcasts this weekend and the next 4 weeks are booked with guests.
    Thanks

  • How can I share photos w/ people for free like using snapfish/kodak gallery

    Hello,
I am new to the world of mac and am having trouble with using i photo. I simply just want to share photos with family and friends like I easily did while using services such as snapfish or kodak gallery. Can this be done? I tried iweb and I'm confused. Also, if I can't do this from iphoto and want to continue using snapfish...if I try to upload photos form their website, it gives me two choices when I'm at iphoto...modified and original photos and I can't seem to have the photos I edited and the originals in one spot. Any help would be appreciated.

    Juliegus
    Welcome to the Apple Discussions.
    1. Don't attempt to access files in the iPhoto Library Folder - it's a good way to damage your library.
    2. Many sites have export plug-ins for iPhoto that will allow you to upload to them directly from within the iPhoto Window - check on the sites you prefer for more information. But, for example, Snapfish has information here:
    http://www1.snapfish.co.uk/helpuploading#quickuploadmac
or you can use an application like PictureSync.
Other than that: There are many, many ways to access your files in iPhoto:
For 10.5 users: You can use any Open / Attach / Browse dialogue. On the left there's a Media heading, your pics can be accessed there. Apple-Click for selecting multiple pics.
To upload to a site that does not have an iPhoto Export Plug-in the recommended way is to Select the Pic in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Export and export the pic to the desktop, then upload from there. After the upload you can trash the pic on the desktop. It's only a copy and your original is safe in iPhoto.
This is also true for emailing with Web-based services. If you're using Gmail you can use THIS
If you use Apple's Mail, Entourage, AOL or Eudora you can email from within iPhoto.
If you use a Cocoa-based Browser such as Safari, you can drag the pics from the iPhoto Window to the Attach window in the browser.
Or, if you want to access the files with iPhoto not running, then create a Media Browser using Automator (takes about 10 seconds) or use THIS
    Other options include:
    1. *Drag and Drop*: Drag a photo from the iPhoto Window to the desktop, there iPhoto will make a full-sized copy of the pic.
    2. *File -> Export*: Select the files in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Export. The dialogue will give you various options, including altering the format, naming the files and changing the size. Again, producing a copy.
    3. *Show File*: Right- (or Control-) Click on a pic and in the resulting dialogue choose 'Show File'. A Finder window will pop open with the file already selected.
    Regards
    TD

  • Publishing One Site Vanished Another Site on DotMac

Each time I publish a site to my dot mac account...
It gets rid of the last site I published to dot mac.
When I go a look at the www section of my dot mac account...
It shows ONLY the most recent site I published.
I can go or send people to the new site by giving them the actual address, but I would like ALL my sites to be visible in the www section of my dot mac account.
I am hoping someone can tell me what I am doing wrong here.
    Thanks.

Then why do they put anything related to the sites on
the page? If I had created this in homepage on .mac I
could go there within .mac and access all the sites.
I think if what you say is true it should be
considered a bug and dealt with accordingly.
I don't know if it's a bug or not. It's not clear to me just what purpose is served by listing 5 pages each from the HomePage and iWeb iDisk spaces on the .Mac homepage. I have many more sites than that which cannot be reached from the list, so I would not bother trying to use it for that purpose.
In any case it's a .Mac and not an iWeb problem and you might want to raise it in the forums devoted to that.

  • ICloud email changes

I have an iCloud account that was migrated from MobileMe while on the developer beta last summer. I would like a new iCloud address for login (NOT an alias) but if I make a new account I lose access to the MobileMe features I still currently have access to. (Such as iWeb, iDisk and Gallery)
Can I either change the address or transfer the entire account to another account under a new address, effectively doing the same thing?

No you won't. Just sign out of iCloud, and create a new Apple ID and use that to sign in to a new iCloud account. Your MobileMe sign in and access to your iDisk will be completely unaffected (at least until MobileMe terminates at the end of June).

  • Google calendar on Maverick's calendar app

Please advise on following problem, appeared after updating to 10.9
When adding a google account in System Preferences/Internet Accounts, it can't be used for calendar synchronization. After ticking "Calendars", nothing happens and after some time I get a message:
"A secure connection couldn’t be established. Click “Continue” to continue creating the account. You can edit the account later in Calendar preferences if necessary."
    Any solution?
It is really important for me, as I have a lot of information on my google calendar.
Thanks in advance for any information.

    Google calendar provides embed code.
Paste that code in a HTML Snippet.
Your calender has to be public, otherwise your visitor won't see it.
Only you will, because your are logged in as the owner.
And rest assured, iWeb will never be confused.
Only iWeb user are confused, frustrated, driven nuts and/or insane or whatever modern psychiatry had thought of.
