IWeb: Import information to my new computer.

My old computer (iBook G4) is broken, the monitor is not working any more. I all ready buy a new computer and I'm using it, but I need to import my iWeb and Addresds Book information to my new computer.
How I can do this with all my information safe?

Connect the two computers with a FireWire cable, start up the iBook with the T key held down, locate your home folder on its hard disk, and drag the content of the folders AddressBook and iWeb of the Library/Application Support/ folder of it to the corresponding locations of your current home folder.

How do you move your music within itunes from your regular library to the homeshares library so that you can import it to your new computer?

You do not have to move it as such. Here are the steps to setup HomeSharing
    1) Ctrl B to turn on the top menu
    2) File > Home Sharing > Create Home Share enter your apple id and password, click create
    3) repeat steps 1 and 2 for the other computer and create home share using the same apple id and password
On your new machine if you have turned on the left hand sidebar the Shared Library should be about halfway down like this.
Select the songs you want and click import at the bottom right. If you want all songs then I would select one song nad Ctrl A to select all
Finally if you have a lot of songs to transfer Switch off the wifi on the old computer. Leave the wifi on the new one. Connect with an ehternet network cable. The copying speed is way faster.
Click import and grab a coffee

  • How can I copy my iTunes library with playcount information to a new computer?!?

    Hello,
I'm about to get a new computer. I have all my music on a external HD, so I won't have problems preserving my music. But I would like to preserve other information too. Especially the play count information. I think it's interesting how my top 25-most-played looks like, and the play count list I have now, took me 2 years to get.
So my question is: Does anyone know how I can copy my iTunes library with all its information (play count, rating, comments, images, last played date etc.) to a new computer?
    Thanks a lot!

Connect the external HDD to the iMac, launch iTunes while holding down the Option key. Choose the option to select library and navigate to the top level folder of the iTunes media on the external. Select it and click OK.

  • How do I move all my iphone information to a new computer/itunes without having access to me old computer/itunes including music which was not downloaded from itunes?

My itunes is 100miles away from me and I want to move all the information on my iphone to my new itunes on a new computer including music which has not been downloaded from itunes and all my apps. Please help as I am still on version 3.1.3.

You should be able to extract the media from the device with the tips in  this post from forum regular Zevoneer but I'm not sure what the implications are for your application settings. You can probably transfer your purchases into a newly authorised library, backup the device, recover any other media using third party tools, then restore the device from the backup. That should switch the assocation of the device to the new machine but I've not had cause to personally test the method.

  • My Vostro is trashed. I salvaged the hard drive and have it in a cage. I was able to save my bookmarks as an HTML file. How can I import them into a new computer? I asked a similar question yesterday and the solution did not work.

I have the original hard drive in a cage (i.e., I can not boot to it or load applications from it). I can access any file on the old drive from the new computer. I have also saved the bookmark file as an html file. I was given a solution to import from the html file that does not work.
How can I get my old bookmarks moved to my nes hard drive?

I plugged my old drive into an identical Vostro and saved my bookmarks per the instructions. Later, when I check the file, it was in html format. While waiting for the replacement laptop to arrive, I put my old (Vostro) hard drive into a case so I could access the files. I have been able to launch web pages from the file bt accessing them through My Documents so I know the file is good. The problem is, I apparently need to convert them into a JSON file in order to use them. There is a set of instructions on the Mozilla/Firefox website but that method does not work.

  • When I import the songs a new computer why does it import 2 of each song and one has a circle in front of it

This is my first time doing home sharing and I just got a new computer.  I had about 8300 songs on the old computer.  I selected all the songs to import on the new computer and it shows that it is downloading 16600 or double the amount.  When I look in the music library it shows 2 of each song and one of them has a circle in front of the usual check box.  Does anyone know what this is about?  Is it putting 2 of every song and what is with the circle?

  • Importing entire library onto new computer

I just took the plunge: purchased Aperture, new MBP C2D with 3 gigs of ram.
My situation is as such: I am currently using a PB (until the good stuff arrives) with Aperture. I was using iPhoto and playing with Lightroom. I gave them both up and am now singularly using Aperture. I imported my original photo library from iPhoto into Aperture. I then used the Vault to back up the import. I was told that there are photos that needed to be backed up manually. Not sure what was meant by this, but now I have the Aperture library on my PB and a backup on an external drive. The library on the PB is larger than the one on the external drive. Second the Vault is also on the external drive. When I look at the Aperture lib on my PB it is over 6 gigs while the Vault is only 170 mb. I am a bit confused. Does the Vault in some way compress the data or is it storing something else, and will I have to re-import and arrange all of my projects again once I import the library on my computer.
Thanks in advance and I hope I was not too confusing.

My guess is that the key question is: did you import the images as Referenced or as Managed?
If they're referenced, then as I understand it, you would have to back all of them up manually. Also, this would make the library much smaller, since it would not have the master images in it, but only bookkeeping stuff and (as time goes on) your edits, metadata, etc.
If theyre managed, then the situaiton seems pretty puzzling.
The disparity between the library and the vault makes it sound as though you have managed images in the library, and that yes, something is not quite as it appears. I find that a 14GB Library, with managed images, produces a Vault of about 13GB, so there's very little compression.
Sorry, that's as far as my knowledge takes me.

  • My computer died , can I get to my ffox favorites so I can import them to a new computer?

I use FFox on my Dell pc w/ windows xp , which has died , unable to get at anything ... is there a way to access my Ffox favorites list that was on the dead computer so I can import it to a new PC ?

If the hard drive from the old computer is still working then you can place it in an enclosure that you can connect via an USB port.

  • Cannot import Backup Library onto new computer

My computer recently crashed, but I saved my backup library to disk before it crashed. I purchased a new computer which has Windows Vista and downloaded the new Itunes to my computer. For some reason, I cannot import the old library. Is there something I need to do to get my library to open on my new computer?

    Hi eagles2008
Not really sure i remember when i was moving librarys i couldn't just drag the whole library in. i had to select everything in a folder and then drag that in. Try importing one song a see if it works.
Try putting it in a folder and selecting 'import folder into library' or drag it in.
do the files work and is your library on your ipod. (if so it makes it alot easier).
If the files work try clicking on them and see if they go to itunes.

  • All songs imported to iTune on new computer from external are not found.  HELP!

I have a new laptop.  I installed iTunes on the computer and associated my external drive's fold with all my music as my main source.  When I brought them into iTunes, they all have a small "i" in a circle and can't be located.  NOW WHAT???
Thanks in advance for any help you can offer.

You guys are the best - thank you.
Since writing what I did below, Bekha wrote me back from last night (Apple rep I spoke with) and gave me the BEST article to do what I needed to do that I want to share with you:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4527?viewlocale=en_US
I did call Apple last night and had a really fun chat with this girl who said she did this three different ways and had trouble remembering how she did it all of them.  But one of her suggestions (which I didn't use and am just explaining for anyone else who reads this) was to move all her music to her new computer's My Music folder.  Then she opened Windows Media Player as they were associated with WMP.  Then she installed her iTunes and when it opened, it asked her if she wanted that to be her default music player and she said yes.  Somehow it transferred the ability to play that entire folder of My Music t iTunes.  HOWEVER, she said sometimes it didn't work and would have to shut down and start again (too much fuss for me).
I found another way to do it.  All my music is in a folder called iTunes Music which I created and have on an external F drive.  I opened that drive and highlighted the single music files and dragged them into the iTunes on the new computer.  Maybe because I choose to use "Manage music manually," that worked.  Now, of course it's time to make all my playlists, drag them onto my iPhone, and back them up -- and I still have a lot more to put in.  But that is how you can do it if you don't have a copy of your old iTunes available due to a HD crash. I never lose my music that way, keeping it on an external (actually, two), even if my computer decides to crash.
Thanks again for all your help.

  • Migrating user data to new iMac, but need to maintain some information on the new computer.

    Hi,
I'd appreciate some advice on setting up a new, actually used, iMac.  I purchased a year-old iMac from a guy who left several apps and some music on the drive.  Should I just use the Migration Assistant as I ordinarily would, or do I need to take some action to ensure that the info on this new computer is maintained?  If used normally, will the Migration Asst. integrate the music the seller left for me into my iTune library, will it keep those files discrete from the files already in my library, or is it possible that it will toss them out?
    Thanks,
    spreldog

I HIGHLY recommend you format the drive and reinstall the OS before you enter ANY of your info on it.
Then use Migration Assistant to get your info from your old computer to new computer.
