Iweb Information From Laptop To  new desktop so they match

i just got a new desktop and i want the iweb on new computer to match my macbook which has all my sites on it. how do i update new copmuter so they match? and how do i keep them synced so when i do a change on one computer it will update on other.? i have mobile me but not sure if that works with iweb.
thanks for your help

To make both computers have the same iWeb sites to work on and publish you must copy the domain.sites2 file from the Macbook into the User/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder on the desktop. If there's no iWeb folder on the desktop computer create one.
To keep them synced see Old Toad's Tutorial #21 - Managing an iWeb site from multiple Macs with Dropbox.. It makes it easy to work from both computer but only one at a time and keep the domain file the same on both.

  • Moving iTunes library from laptop to new desktop

I'm thinking about getting an iMac desktop, and would like to move all my music and video files from my iBook to the new setup. What is the correct procedure for doing this? I'm reading on these boards that there's a way to just plug the computers into each other, but will that copy everything onto the new hard drive? I'm thinking about doing this because my 60 GB laptop's capacity is maxed out from my iTunes library (33 GB and growing); once I move it to the desktop can I trim down my laptop's iTunes library and still play from there? Can I then only update my iPod to the desktop (if I want the full library)?
Should I run it all through an external HD as a sort of middle man/back-up? Is this all much easier than I'm thinking it is?
    I know...so many questions.
    Thanks.
    Lindsay

get the two, system prefs, click sharing, make sure personal file sharing is checked on both
second in finder click go in the menu bar and click connect to server, click browse
enter your login name and pass for the user account you want music from from the old computer . .
that computer will appear on your desktop, double click it, find your music folder, open itunes on the new computer and go to user/music/itunes/itunes music and drag itunes music into the library source on your new itunes . . . it will do the rest and this is also the best for the new computer, to create new files while coping not moving and taking all the old bagage with it.
then just clear your ipod and set it for the new iMac and back everything up from there and clear off the ibook. keep it authorized and when they are on network if iTunes is open on the desktop you will be able to play music from it, worked great i use it on 4 computers in my house . .
then as far as travel goes . . no music on the old laptop . . who cares, you have an ipod . . enjoy!
hope i understood your question, please feel free to ask if you have any more!

  • Buying a new Mac and try to save all information from iPhone in new iTunes, is it possible? how?

Buying a new Mac and try to save all information from iPhone in new iTunes, is it possible? how?

The easiest thing to do is transfer the library from the old computer to the new one.  Quick answer if you use iTunes' default preferences settings:  Copy the entire iTunes folder (and in doing so all its subfolders and files) intact to the other drive.  Open iTunes and immediately hold down the option (alt) key (shift on Windows) so you get a prompt to choose a library, then select the copied iTunes folder.  If this is to a new computer and you put the copied iTunes folder in the default location of Macintosh HD > Users > *User Name* > Music  then you don't even need to start with the option key held down, iTunes will automatically look for it there.  (Make sure there isn't anything already in the iTunes folder there that you want to keep since you will be replacing it with the one you are moving.)
If you do not have access to the old library (and you always should in the form of a backup you regularly make of your computer and store on a drive in a safe place) and this phone has been synced with a different library you can backup certain items, then erase the phone and restore those items.  This will not include media not purchased from the iTunes Store.
iOS: How to back up and restore your content - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1766 - "Learn how to back up and restore the content on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch using iCloud or iTunes."
Your i-device was not designed for unique storage of your media. It is not a backup device and media transfer was planned with you maintaining a master copy of your media on a computer which is itself independently backed up against loss.  To use a device with a new computer you transfer the content from the old computer (or its backup) directly to the new computer, not the device to the new computer. Media syncing is one way, computer to device, updating the device content to the content on the computer, not updating or restoring content on a computer. The exception is iTunes Store purchases which can be transferred to a computer.
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iOS device or iPod to a computer - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1848 - only purchases from iTunes Store
For transferring other items from an i-device to a computer you will have to use third party commercial software.  See this document by turingtest2: Recovering your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device - https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3991

  • Getting information from laptop to host and visa versa

    Hi!
Here is the situation. I need to tranfer all the data that exits on the laptop to host and I also want the updated data back to laptop. what is the easy way to do that. I have already created the tables on the laptops which is also exactly the same in the host. the oracle that we are using is 8i. could anyone please help me what is real process to go about this and how I can do this process.
people who has a laptop they go out in the field and enters the information and comes back to office and they have to sync back to host all data.
Your help on this process would greatly appriciated. Thank you.
my personal e-mail address is [email protected]
    Sincerely
    Beshu

    Beshu,
I would think the best way to handle this is Snapshots, or Materialized Views. The master table would exist on the host, and each
laptop would have a replica of the master table. This would be an updatable snapshot/MView. Unfortunately, you would need to create
the snapshot/MV on each laptop, rather than use the existing tables you have already created.
With updatable snapshots/MViews, the laptop user can modify the snapshot table, and the changes are recorded in a log file.
When the laptop user goes back to the office, they can run a job which posts their changes to the master table, and then
receives updates from the master table as well. Since you would be using updatable snapshots, you would need to define
conflict resolution on the master table to resolve data conflicts.
Depending on the database versions involved, there are lots of things you could do to make your life simpler, such as using a single
deployment template to instantiate all the laptops.

  • Transferring from laptop (managed) to desktop (referenced)

    Hello,
I was hoping someone could guide me as the best way to move images from my laptop (which I import and edit as managed files) to my desktop machine where the photos are stored on external drives as referenced files. The key being to keep the metadata (corrections and ratings) from the laptop. Is this possible? If so what is the best procedure.
    Thanks in advance, Gary

    1. Network the two computers
    2. From the laptop use File > Relocate Manged Files
to move the files across the network to their final
    home on the desktop computer
    3. Export the laptop's project (myproj.approject)
    that the files came from
    4. Import the myproj.approject file into Aperture on
    the desktop machine
This may be slightly confusing -- for newcomers -- or maybe it's just me -- because of the managed/referenced. Step 2 assumes the images are managed, but it implies that on the desktop they'll be going into Finder folders outside the Ap library. So in step 3 the project is exported without checking the "consolidate images" box? But if the images are managed, that box has no effect, as I understand it.
If the images end up outside the Ap library on the desktop, then after step 4 the desktop Ap library will have the project, but its images will be referenced. At that point, you either have to import them from wherever you transferred them to (making them managed) or use Manage Referenced to point the desktop's Ap library to their new location.
I agree it's a powerful and flexible system, but it's not simple, at least at first, partly as a result. (But a built-in way to synchronize or merge libraries would make it a lot easier -- version 2?)

  • Cineform on Laptop vs new Desktop Build

    Hi there,
I have a Dell XPS 15 laptop with CS 5.5 that I currently use for video editing DSLR and AVCHD footage (specs below). I've been considering building a semi-portable desktop for editing (made a thread here about it a while ago) but I'm still debating the financial impact of that route.
There used to be a program offered by Cineform (NeoScene?) that would transcode H264 video to a more editable AVI with 4:4:4 chroma for $100. I can't seem to find that program now so perhaps things have changed now.
Anyway, the question: Would it be more cost effective to purchase Cineform and set up my laptop more so for video editing; static pagefile, etc. OR would I still see so much better superior performance from building a $1500 or so  i72600k-based solution that I would just be wasting my time and money?
    Laptop Specs
    Dell XPS 15 L501
    i7 740Qm at 1.7GHz
    6 gigs RAM
GeForce 435M (unlocked for Mercury Engine) (believe it has 2 gigs of ram, not sure)
500GB HDD for OS and programs
640GB HDD for Media, Projects, etc.
    One eSATA/USB combo
    (2) USB 3
    1366x768 display
    1920x1080 monitor via HDMI
I used my laptop for a 13 minute short film this Spring, using mostly Premiere and AE. It worked, but there were some moments when things would go slowly and getting smooth playback was always an issue. But overall, it was tolerable.
I will be working on a much more involved film this next semester, anywhere from 30 to an hour in length. Will scaling up the size of the project have a severe impact on performance?
    Thanks much,
    Kristofor

Actually, I just found NeoScene still seems to be available...it shows up when one Google searches "Cineform" but I still can't figure out how someone could navigate to the product page from the site itself; it seems to have been removed from the Product Grid. So, who knows?
I actually meant 4:2:2, not 4:4:4 The latter is more than I need at this point.
One thing I forgot to clarify in my original post; I'm planning on still keeping my laptop. My hope was to be able to separate out my everyday tasks (schoolwork, netflix, youtube, games, etc) and video editing/audio/graphics work. I would still keep my laptop as a mobile editing solution for smaller projects. After all, Adobe lets us have two installs so I'd want to take advantage of that, eh?
Unfortunately, it looks less and less likely that I will be able to justify the expense this summer. Perhaps in the winter I will be able to use part of my movie's budget for a system build, but that's pure speculation at this point.
    Thanks for the suggestions guys!

  • Music transfer from laptop to new iPad mini

Hi, how do I transfer my music from my iTunes library to my new iPad mini? I feel I have tried everything they user guide/online help suggests and it's still not working. I have synced it with my iTunes, tried to manage my music manually, used I cloud, synced it manually and over wifi? Also when I buy music on my iPad it doesn't store on there, it goes straight to my phone and laptop? It says my iPad music has "no music". I have had my iPad for over a week now and everything else on it works fine, getting very frustrated now about the music though, please help.

Have you quit the music app completely and rebooted the iPad? I get that now and the "No Music" message and I know damm well there is music on the iPad. If I quit the music app and reboot it will show up. Not saying it will work, but since nothing else's is working, try it.
Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Double tap the home button and the recents tray will appear with all of your recent apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on the music app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner of the app that you want to close. Tap the home button or anywhere above the task bar.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.

  • Combine iWeb site from laptop with iWeb on Mac Pro

I have an iWeb site that I'd setup on my laptop while I was traveling and I'd like to now move it to my Mac Pro while not losing the sites I've already setup on the Mac Pro. Can I do this? How?
    Thanks!

    Take a look here.
There are a couple of ways to do it.
I generally keep the domain file on a flash drive and access it from there

  • Contacts from laptop onto new phone.

    Hi,
Im new to all this and not very good with mobile phones! I had my n95 8g solen and have now got a new n86. I backed up my files from the n95 before it was stolen and was wondering if and how i could transfer my contacts from my laptop to my new phone as it seems to use a different PC suite, i dont really understand this ovi pc suite.
    Thanks in advance

It's a bit like closing the stable door after the horse has bolted (sorry) but I also use my Ovi account to backup, sync and restore my contacts, calender and notes OTA. Just to have a safety net, if you have an account you can get it to send the settings to your phone via txt and then set up a sync (I used it tonight, All my notes had gone, due to a reset and I needed a password)
I use two methods of backup, because in the past I have managed to 'kill' both laptops and phones
    Good Luck

  • HT5661 how can i deactivate my dons iphone information from my daughters new touch? if I wipe the touch will the icloud st

The issue is not selling. We bought our daughter a new ipod touch and when i went to activate it i entered ny apple ID whichi is the ID on my sons iphone 5. can I deactivate my daughters account ( earase) her ipod without deleting info from the iphone? For example, contacts are connected. I make a change in one and it streams to the other. we created  anew apple ID on the touch but it does not stream across the programs, i.e. facetime, icloud.

You can delete the existing iCloud account from the iPod touch by going to Settings>iCloud, scroll down and tap Delete Account, then provide the password when prompted and choose Delete from My iPod to delete your son's iCloud data from her iPod Touch.  This only deletes the account and iCloud data from her iPod, not from iCloud.  Your son's iPhone will not be effected by this.  You can then sign back in with a separate ID to create a separate iCloud account for her iPod.
If you need to change the ID for iMessage, go to Settings>Messages>Send & Receive, tap the ID, sign out, then sign back in with a separate ID.  Then do the same thing in Settings>FaceTime.  This will keep them from getting each other's text messages and FaceTime calls.

  • Migrating photos from laptop album to desktop album

I just got back from a month-long holiday where I used iPhoto on my MBA to manage photos during the trip. I want to move them over to my iMac iPhoto library at home. Is there a way to merge the libraries or do I just need to export the photos to my iMac and them import them from there? Any suggestions?

    Aaron
You can do the Export -Import route but I think the best way to move Events/Albums?Pics and associated metadata between Libraries is to use iPhoto Library Manager.

  • How do I get audiobooks transferred from iPod to new iPad? They aren't showing up on iPad after being bought on iPod.

Bought an iPad today and everything looks like it is there except audiobooks that were bought on the iPod

Audiobooks are currently a one-time only download from the store, so they won't appear in the cloud for re-downloading. You should be able to connect the iPod to your computer's iTunes and do File > Devices > Transfer Purchased to copy them over to the Books part of your computer's iTunes library and you can then sync them to your iPad
