Fortunately, a lot of people are switching to IE 9 which is a lot better than previous versions. The problem is that there will be no fixes from Apple to overcome any incompatibility with this version since they have dropped support for iWeb.

Did some updates on my website in iweb as normal. But this time it seems to works fine with safari and firefox but not internet explorer. Areas overlap with each other. Any Ideas?  the website is: www.pacificacollege.com

It's pretty common to hear that people's iWeb sites are not viewed that well in Internet Explorer. There are some things you can do to make your site more compatible with IE.

Can I do away with Internet Explorer, & Use Google instead, While still using my Default Firefox 7.01

I'm not quite sure what your question is, but yes, you can certainly do away with Internet Explorer and keep Firefox 7 as your default web browser.
To make Mozilla your default web browser, just follow the instructions here -

  • Firefox/internet explorer help

well my website is still in the making but i have run into
some problems. in order to see what im talking about you will have
to have internet explorer and firefox. first go on firefox and go
to my website (www.killerarcadegames.com) then go to games section
and you see the tabs and thats how there suppose to look but when
you go to internet explorer its messed up with the multiplayer tab.
I remember making the mistake and it showed that but i fixed it but
now it still shows it in ie how do i edit from one to the other and
    make them the same.
    thx

There are also some other issues that can cause problems with browser display. You have multiple uses of html ids. An id can only be used once on a page. If you want to use the same css for multiple elements, use a class selector instead.
    <div id="page_breaker"> should be <div class="page_breaker"> then in your css, #page_breaker would be .page_breaker
You have a couple images with empty src attributes. That can throw a broweser off too. If you need them to be blank for a rollover or image swap, use a transparent .gif as the starting image.

  • Lost Internet Explorer, help upgrading Safari

Something happened to my Internet Explorer 5.2 and I get this message...
"The specified server could not be found."
I cannot download it again from Microsoft because it became no longer available after 12/31/05. Is there some secondary place to get it? My computer is five years old and we are all used to Explorer. I do have Safari, but it is version 1.0.3 and it won't let me onto some websites and pages. For instance, some government sites that I use for business purposes to pay taxes, etc.

As armeen correctly says, you're probably better off trying a different browser. Here are a few links to some including those mentioned by armeen:
    Camino
    Firefox
    Opera
    OmniWeb
As to your original question, Safari 1.0.3 is the latest version available for OS X 10.2.8.
To use Safari 2.0.x you would need to pay to upgrade your OS to 10.4

  • Internet Explorer Help.

    Hi there,
My wife is being given the facility to work from home and as such has to have internet explorer installed on our Mac!
We already have Windows installed on the laptop and wonder how we would access that if we boot camped the hard drive.
    Many thanks in anticipation.

    Thanks! Had me confused!
BootCamp Assistant is part of OSX; you'll find it in Applicaitons > Utilities. You will need to purchase a vaild copy of Windows. I bought Win7/64-bit as MS's "System Builder Edition" disk. Makes for a very clean install. Installing Windowa also installs IE.
When you open Boot Camp Assistant, you will be offered the opportunity to print the rather detailed instructions. Please do so and study them to make sure you have everything you need before you start the installation.
You may find the Win side of your Mac wants more RAM than the Mac Side. A few months after I installed Win 7 on my iMac, I tripled the RAM because I could get the proper RAM fairly cheap. I didn't notice much difference in MAc OS but Win 7 was notably faster.
Do "About this Mac" from your Apple menu and see how much RAM you currently have. You shoul also see ow much free space is on your hard drive. Highlight your hard drive icon and then press teh space bar--should show you the space used v. free numbers.

  • Outlook express help file tells me to down load "mk:@MSITStore:C:\WINDOWS\help\mscoe.c..." it says that type is Firefox Document; is this a safe item of soft ware to down load. There is a similar statement from internet explorer help file.

My outlook express will not allow me to print the email message it only prints the email headings. When I tried the help file of oe it tells me to download file named 'cool_mail. htm', type 'Firefox Document, 17.8KB', from 'mk:@MSITStore:C:\WINDOWS\help\msoe.c...'. A similar sort of message appears if I click on the help file of Windows Internet Exlorer. Are these genuine useful files or scams to be avoided?

    Hi Mac Attack,
My computer will not disconnect from the internet.  It seems to find a clone router and continues even when I shut down and unplug my my own home iy
Your main question was 'chopped' in the title. Please reply in the body of a reply box with the full question and anything you have tried. And no, the long report was not helpful .
If the same website is opening each time you launch a browser (Safari?) hold down the shift key as you launch to prevent previous pages from opening.
Have a look at your settings in Safari > Preferences. Especially General and Privacy.
Reset Safari to remove cookies and other stored data.
    System Preferences > General
Have a look at your settings in System Preferences >  Security & Privacy.
    Call back with more questions.
    Regards,

  • I cannot load one trusted website, none of the suggested solutions work, fixed Norton 360 as recommended, cleared all history, but still I get "The connection was reset", I get the website using Internet Explorer - help please!

I'm running Windows 7 (64 bit) with Mozilla 5.0 and Norton 360 4.3.0.5. I used to be able to load the website URL below, but it stopped loading about a month ago. I've tried all the suggested solutions without success. All other browsing is fine, The owners of the website say that they have NOT blocked my access.

I see the same with Google Chrome.

  • Iweb 08 - Menus not showing up on Internet Explorer

    Hi,
I have put together a simple photo site on iweb which I published on mobileme. I have then bought a domain name which I pointed on my mobileme site. On safari and Firefox I can see the menus all right but not on Internet Explorer. Any idea?
    My domain name is www.jmphotowall.com
Thanks in advance for your help.

The iWeb default navigation menu will not appear on a PC running Internet Explorer if java is turned off.
As you have no control over this the answer is to build your own navigation in a text box....

  • IWeb Page Navigational Links not working with Internet Explorer 7

I'm hoping someone can help me out here? My wife created her 1st website using iWeb. I am testing the sites functionality before we publish it. All the pages and links work fine on Firefox and Safari for windows. However, the page navigational links are not working on Internet Explorer 7. All I see is a dot to the left side of where the page links should be. When I start the site in IE7 I get an Active X script warning and I am asked if I want to allow the script to run; to which I reply yes. After I allow the Active X script the dot to the left side of where the page links should be disappears, but the links do not appear.
Is there anyway to resolve this? Most of the members of her club have Windows based PCs and are using IE7.

Yes, Javascript is running on IE7 and other java script applets appear to be working with the exception of the Navbar script.
It would be great if my wife's friends used a "real" browser, unfortunately 70% of the people on the web use IE7, so this is a real concern if we can't get this to work. I'v seen other iWeb site on IE7 that seem to function fine, so I'm not sure what the issue is here.

  • IWeb photo galleries cause Internet Explorer to crash

Please help! I am a novice as far as web design goes and have spent a long time getting my site up and going. It works perfectly on Firefox, Chrome, Safari etc but when using Internet explorer the photo galleries cause the browser to crash/freeze.
If you leave it for approximately 5 minutes sometimes it starts working again.
    My website is www.hboydwatercolours.co.uk
Any help would be very much appreciated.

ps i am using *iweb 3.0.2*

  • Iweb will not open in older bversions of internet explorer

many of the people I want to see my website like non-profits can't open it in internet explorer. Can i fix this somehow?

I have the same problem! Either Web-Gallery works with IE 6, nor my Web-Blog (also Archiv) can be opend. I read about this problem, you should use the latest versions of IE or better Firefox.
*Anyway, this is a massive disadvantage to the former version of iWeb!*
I did not find special discription, what kind of browser (and which particular settings!!) are necessary!
    Who can help??

  • IWeb and Internet Explorer

    Hi all,
I am a technician at a college, and we're using iWeb to publish websites for the students' coursework. Upon checking the health of the published pages, it is apparent that many of the students' work is not appearing in Internet Explorer correctly. Several of the images and text boxes are not appearing in the correct place and are overlapping.
So far browsing the forums a common answer appears to be 'Don't use Internet Explorer', however given that it is the world's most widely used web browser, and that we have no control over what browser the coursework moderators will be using when sample work is sent away, we are looking for a proper solution to this problem.
We are using intel-based macs with the latest version of iWeb and OSX.
    Thanks in advance.

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Make sure you're using Web Safe Fonts and that text boxes are not overlapping or touching other text boxes or objects. Roddy's iWeb for Musicians has some good tips: How to get your iWeb Site to load in Internet Explorer. There may be some there that can help you.
The suggestion about suggestion and offering Firefox is a very good one. You'll help bring many of the students into the 21st century.

  • Mea Culpa - Internet Explorer now renders my iWeb 2 test site correctly?

After umpteen server tweaks I finally got my iWeb 2 test site uploaded
    http://www.mjweber.com/mjwredsite/mjweber/welcome.html
It displayed as designed in Safari on my MBP. I then fired up XP in Parallels and loaded the site in Internet Explorer. I didn't expect it to work but it did. Now I'm really stymied!
I've had numerous compatibility issues with iWeb 2 and IE in the past week paralleled here by hundreds of other posts here. Now, when I finally upload the site, it suddenly works?
Either the Internet gods are playing with me or the IE incompatibility stems from launching a published iWeb 2 folder from a local XP hard drive. That's where my navigation menus didn't display. What else can I say? I'm going to have a drink.
I'd appreciate independent site validations by anyone not using Safari or OS X... Linux, Unix, Windows, Netscape, IE, etc. Thanks!

Hi thanks for the advice, the text is centred vertically , left aligned and there is plenty of space at the end. I will try increasing width/height but not sure if that will help as box is already much bigger than text.
In fact it works perfectly on another web page ...thats what surprising ....even the html for the two pages is identical from what we can see!
    Take a look at
www.cibsys.com/cibsys1/index.html on the UK site and run down the various pages on the left side to see what happens (if you have IE on a PC). On the PC on some pages perhaps 30% eg workflow services the menu on the left fails to draw correctly leaving the text un readable.
    Thanks
