Iweb invisible hyperlinks

Using iWeb, I am trying to create a page that has links without any text or object visible to indicate the links.
For example, imagine having a class picture and being able to link to an information page about each person by placing the pointer over each individual's face and clicking.
Is there a way to create an object or box that can be enabled as a hyperlink without having that object or box be visible ?
I tried to use a text box with no text in it, or with only spaces in it. That worked within iWeb but not when visiting the site through a browser.
I also tried to crop the class picture image into a single person's face and use that image as an object that I could enable as a hyperlink, but I couldn't blend the two pictures convincingly.
Any ideas?
thanks

thank you
I had been adjusting the opacity for the shadow by mistake in upper part of the same inspector window.
I wonder why it doesn't seem to work with a text box, but so be it.
This works great, and it's sort of cool to hide and reveal the images that I have doing the place holding anyway....
that's great .

  • How do you see "invisible" hyperlinks in preview mode?

I've been struggling with this one for a while now.
We're producing a large product catalog to be used both in print and as a PDF. In the PDF version we want to have hyperlinks from products, and prefer the "invisible" link style.
Is there a way to make these "invisible" hyperlinks visible in Preview mode within Indesign. I'm aware of the Hyperlinks panel, but it doesn't show location on the page. The purpose behind this is to make sure all the text on the page that should be linked has been properly linked.

I think given that the point of preview mode is to show you what the final appearance is going to be, the answer is basically no.
But here's a possible workaround. You can create a hyperlink character style and apply it to all your hyperlinks. Set a character color, or underline or some other visual trigger. When you are finished editing the catalog, edit the style to remove the visual cue before you export.

  • After I publish IWeb, unwanted hyperlinks show up in the published site.   How do I get rid of this worm?

I have noticed that no matter how hard I try to rid my published site of these hyperlinks (that I've never put in) certain words within the published site are highlighted and underlined and link to another source trying to sell something.  I've never put this in and think there is some kind of virus or worm on my Macbook Pro with Mountain Lion.  I've even deleted pages and started from scratch with a new page.  They are still showing up and multiplying.  HELP!  I'm on a Windows computer right now and don't know how to take a screen shot to show you how it works.  I hope my description is enough.

This has nothing to do with iWeb. These links are added on the server- probably due to the fact that you are using a "free" hosting service.
Contact your host to upgrade your account or choose another one with more appropriate facilities...

  • Iweb image hyperlink not working?!

Hello! I have created a website on iweb and all works great!, but a problem has just acoured which i do not know how to solve. i have added a logo at the top of the webpage which i would like to use as a hyperlink back to the home page, but after removing the iweb nav bar from the page because i just made one with the text tool, the image/logo hyperlink no longer works when its published but works while editing in iweb, please help!?
here is the website link!.. >> www.shanomusic.com  <<

    Try the following:
1 - delete the iWeb preference files, com.apple.iWeb.plist and com.apple.iWeb.plist.lockfile, that resides in your Home/Library/Preferences folder.
2 - go to your Home/Library/Caches/com.apple.iWeb folder and delete its contents.
3 - launch iWeb and try again.

  • Iweb text hyperlinks not working

ive used iweb to upload my bands website and am not a serious web developer so it worked great but i cant figure out why the hyperlinks i used on the text go straight to the apple site and the ones i used on the buttons and images i made work fine but the text links dont  if somebody knows whats up with that and has a minute the site is at audioresistance.net

When you create a hyperlink the default URL is an Apple one.  Reselect the text and go to the Inspector/Hyperlink/Hyperlink pane and reenter the url you want to use:
Then check the Makc hyiperlinks active box and test the link before going on to the next link.

  • IWeb File-Hyperlink issue

    Hi,
i want to create a File Hyperlink (the file is a .pdf-file). When I upload the file to the server and try the hyplerlink online it does not work. Anybody the same experience?
All other Hyperlinks I use work except the File-Hyperlinks! There is just 1 File-Hyperlink which works but I really do not know why!
    Thanks!

    Hi, Welcome to the forums.
Are you physically uploading the file yourself? If so does the location where you upload it to match the URL of the link.
iWeb should automatically upload any file you link to on your Mac, I have a tutorial on my site:

  • IWeb '08 Hyperlink inspector useless and shadowed - Why?

I just upgraded to iWeb '08 and have a new website that my navigation menu items do not work correctly when published to the web. They are directed toward my .mac website instead of a page of my choice that is published in another folder and uploaded separately. And one of the menu items (ironically, the "links" page) doesn't even work properly in iWeb when I activate the hyperlinks.

Yes, the U Box is blue and I've tried a Publish All... makes no difference. Maybe I'll Publish to Folder, bring it into my Adobe Go Live and take a look at the code or re-instruct it to underline the hyperlink in normal mode.

  • IWeb 09 (HyperLink HELP!)

    Hi My name's Pedro
And I'm going crazy because of iWeb 09!!! My problem is that every time I try to make a hyper link (if it's a external link, one of my pages, a file, or an email... every kind) as soon as I publish it it reverts back to a file hyperlink... Pleas help I can't take it anymore!!!
I've got the new MacBook Pro and my mac OSX version is 10.5.6
Please Please assist me I neeeeed help! :O

When you load a webpage, your browser stores the information so that the page will load quicker if you go back to it.
It will "remember" the old version of your website and may not "see" the new changes.
In Safari go to the Safari drop down menu, click on Empty Cache and then click the Empty button.
Try to get into the habit of doing this regularly and particularly before you visit your newly published changes.

  • IWeb internal hyperlinks not working on Safari and Firefox

I've just finished creating my website using iweb and hosting it through an FTP server. However all but one of the hyperlinks to internal pages don't work when viewing it on Safari or Firefox on either a PC or a MAC. They just appear as text and you can't hover over them. External hyperlinks appear to work as normal.
In addition blog entries i've created aren't shown in their entirety on Internet Explorer. You can access the blog using the 'Archives' link on safari or firefox (the only internal link that does work) and i can see the complete entry but this is not the case of IE. It is just missing half of the text.
What am i doing wrong? I really want to get these bugs fixed asap.

Ah, good call. I will try that when I return home. Strange that safari and firefox would have an issue with this but not internet explorer. Seems so simple but still getting my head around working a website, thanks. Will comment if it doesn't work.
But can anyone explain to me why the only blog entry "shooting on an iphone" would not appear in it's entirety on iternet explorer 9, when it appears on fine on safari, firefox and iternet explorer 7 & 8. It just stops at the heading 'lessons learned'

  • How can i import quizzes made on keynote to iweb with hyperlinks active?

I have made some quizzes on keynote using hyperlinks, but cannot find a way to import them onto my iWeb site with the hyperlinks still active. I've exported the quizzes to html and they work fine, but I can't import them onto an iWeb page. I even tried to use the old .Mac HomePage, but this didn't work either... Does anyone have any suggestions? Please help!!

If you exported the Keynote to HTML then you have a HTML page and a folder with images.
Nothing you can do with in iWeb.
You can store the stuff on the webserver and make a link to it in iWeb.
Or you can embed the page with a [IFRAME element|http://htmlhelp.com/reference/html40/special/iframe.html] in the HTML Snippet (see image). I use OBJECT to annoy MSIE users.
    Other options are Flash, QT.

  • IWeb beginner hyperlink help?

I have a link to a website and a logo I want to place the logo and the hyperlink on the logo but not to see it so when I click the logo it takes me to the web site how do I do this?

To hyperlink your logo/image, see this Apple doc:

  • Iweb image hyperlinks not working across pages

I KNOW there are many other threads on this topic, but I can't figure it out!
I am using images as my website navigation and they have stopped working on some pages when I updated it (and won't work no matter how many times I replace them or send them forward/back and republish). I have read some other threads that say it may be hidden objects blocking the links or that the images are in the navigation layer, but I don't think that's the problem (correct me if I'm wrong). I've also disabled the navigation menu since the problem happened, but that was not the cause.
Here is my website home page (all the links are working on this page): http://melissabloom.com/mb/Home.html
but then on this page, for instance, none of them work: http://melissabloom.com/mb/Portfolio.html
To specify I am talking about the "home, about, contact, portfolio and reel" images/links. They are not working on the "portfolio" and "reel" pages and also, the four pages "portfolio" takes you to.
Let me know if you need more info. I appreciate any advice, thanks!

Ok, bear with me here, I need some clarification. How do I change the z index of those images and get them out of the nav layer WITHOUT changing their position on the page?
I see that they are in the header layer. I had gone into the layout section and changed the height of of the header layer to make it fit the links too. Assuming that was a bad idea? Should I make the header layer smaller, so it doesn't reach the links?
And WHERE is the nav layer? I don't understand how to pull objects out of it because I don't see it.
Thank you so much for your help!

  • Hyperlinks in QT for IWeb

Apologies for cross-posting to the IWeb forum.
I created an animated text page in Keynotes to match a page in my website, and added a single hyperlink below the animation to enter the site. All play fine in Keynote. I then exported a QT movie using Manual Advance settings. Opening the movie in QT directly from the Finder works correctly: the hyperlink opens the desired webpage. However when I import this Keynote QT movie into IWeb, the hyperlinked text is not longer text, but part of the image in the QT movie. It can't be clicked on as a link nor is there the ability (it seems) to change this in IWeb.
FYI - The alternative of adding the link in IWeb in FRONT of the imported QT movie does not work. The hyperlink works with the QT movie correctly in IWeb, but when published, the link itself is transparent within each of the browsers (Safari, Firefox, IE).
    Suggestions? Thanks in advance.

Did a re-export for giggles. Don't know what changed (nothing), but for some reason it's now all working fine. The hyperlink in the AT animation works as it's supposed to.
    Many thanks

  • Hyperlinks for Nigel's page work in iWeb but not in Safari. Why?

In iWeb, the hyperlinks for my NIGEL page all work. They work to and from the main U.B.R.O.L. page. They work to and from the other few people in the U.B.R.O.L. group.
However, these very same hyperlinks for Nigel do NOT work.
What should I do? I am careful with clearing cache.
    Lorna in Southern California

Well, happily, I figured this one out all by myself. The hyperlinks were not working because I had placed them in the Navbar. I had placed them in the Navbar because I had opted to not have those three pages in the Navbar and also I opted to not even show the Navbar on those three pages.
Well, I discovered by many trials and errors that putting hyperlinked boxes in the Navbar, even when nothing else is there, is a bad idea worth losing.
When I lowered the hyperlinks into the regular text field, the hyperlinks worked both on my desktop and in Safari.
Of course, that left me with a bare Navbar to contend with so I decided to put the Navbar back in, but without showing those three pages for Nigel, Helen, or Vali.
