IWeb & iPad movie compatibility

Ive just converted a Keynote presentation to a Quicktime movie, embedded it into the movie page on my site with iWeb 09.
It plays fine on my Mac but wont play on my iPad or iPhone is there a compatibility issue i'm missing?

Make sure your movie is compatible with iPhone/iPad.
The specs will tell you what they are.
You can accomplish that by exporting it to AppleTV or iPhone in QuickTime Pro or iMovie. Or *saving the movie for Web* in QT Pro/iMovie/QT X and use one of the saved files :

iPhoto seems to be viewing the iPod as a camera. Therefore go to iPhoto's General preference pane and select No application in the Connecting camera opens: menu.

Outraged by lack of info in iTunes about iPad HDMI compatibility?

I bought an iPad 2 as well as the HDMI adaptor so I could download movies on the go on my iPad and also watch them on my HD TV.
Turns out that you can't watch every film you download through iTunes on your TV. So, I download The Princess Bride from iTunes, which plays on my TV fine. And then I pay £6.99 for Moon, which all my friends tell me is brilliant. And no. I am not allowed to play this from my iPad to my TV
Now, I know this is not necessarily Apple's fault, but due to the Canute-like inability of certain studios to engage with the modern world and what consumers actually want.
However, I do find it obnoxious that in the iPad version of iTunes there is no mention of this fact BEFORE you buy a movie.
Fine, invent some cockamamie rules about which content I can watch where - but at least let me know about it before I pay you money.
Has anyone else noticed this? Is anyone else as annoyed as I am?

There shouldn't be any licensing restrictions since you've purchased all of that.
The addition of the copy protection logic certainly complicates the issue and you could have incompatibilities between your TV, cable, and iPad. One suggestion I've seen is to just power cycle all of the devices.
If that doesn't work, check out the links in this thread: HDMI Digital AV Adapter / FairPlay Movie / Display not Authorized
If that doesn't work, contact Apple. It should work.

How Can I use Apple TV with my iPad Movies (AV Player HD App)

I have just set up an Apple TV and all is fine, except I do not seem to be able to play the movies I have on my iPad that I in the AV Player HD App.(a great app BTW).
I do not put my movies into iTunes any more as the App is perfect for watching movies on my iPad, but I want to see them on my TV, so I went and purchased the Apple TV. The Apple store guy said I would have no problems watching movies on the Apple TV from my iPad.
So is there a trick to this or am I missing something here ?
What do I need to do to overcome this glitch, or is it an Apple trick to make me convert all my movies to iTunes.
Also I have many movies on my external HD. So how to I get the Apple TV to play them ?

For Airplay, ensure all your software is up to date, restart all your devices as necessary, the Airplay icon should appear in the playback controller.
For content on your external HD, convert it to an Apple TV compatible format and add it to iTunes.

IPAD Movie Sync Extremely Slow

How is the iPad connected to the PC? Make sure its directly connected to a high-speed USB2 port using the cable that came with it.

IWeb & .mpg movies HELPPPPPP!!!!

We are creating an iWeb site. I've got nearly everything working. I'm from an IBM/MS world but loving Apple until the last two days. Have spent nearly 10 hours trying to figure out how to do this, including reading most posts and product help pages. Have increased my knowledge on Apple products, thus I do not feel the entire time was wasted. We are supposed to launch the business site tomorrow. Found a workaround but not in love with it. My MacBook Pro has the latest of all software. I am trying to add a .mpg video to the website. I can view the file from Finder with no problem. I can view it while creating the iWeb, no problem. I have put the file in MobileMe Gallery. I have imported it to iMovie and iPhoto. I have dragged and dropped the file - heck, that method works for everything else. Once I publish the website, it is not viewable - can only see the single frame as a still picture. If I use iPhoto to send to iWeb, I can play it on my MacBook but cannot see it on my Dell without adding QuickTime (not all of my customers will want to do this). My workaround is to create a link to the .mpg file. My IBM-world test machines can view the video from the website by just clicking it - Windows Media Player automatically opens and plays. I cannot see the linked file in the Apple world; as with other errors, the QuickTime Player logo is displayed, no pixs, no movie. What am I doing wrong? My workaround is to have it available BOTH ways (iPhoto send to iWeb and hyperlink for MS users) but I would prefer a cleaner use. Any suggestions? thanks!

IWeb '08 movie playback problem on Windows

I used iWeb '08 to create a Photo Page that I've uploaded to my .Mac space. The Photo Page is mostly photos, but also contains two movie clips. One is a 1 MB .AVI file. The other one is an 8.7 MB .m4v file.
When I load up the photo page in Firefox or Safari on my Mac, everything works like a charm. However, when I view it in Firefox or IE6 on my husband's Windows XP machine (which does have Quicktime 7), a strange problem occurs. The video plays, but then immediately after it finishes, it goes to a white screen. The address bar in the browser reads: javascript:PhotoViewDonePlaying(0). The screen is all white except for one word at the top which says "false."
Has anyone else encountered this and is there a way to fix it? Obviously, a lot of our friends are going to be using IE or Firefox on Windows machines to view our page and we'd like this not to happen to them! I would appreciate any ideas or suggestions.

Yup, I've just encountered exactly the same problem. The good news is that updating to the latest QuickTime (on Windows) seems to have fixed the problem for me, so you might want to try doing an update...

Adding chapters to iPad movies?

This is a question which I have no idea where to post. So I'll start here, and youse guys can tell me where it might be more effective.
Since the demise of the DVD (c'mon, ya can't play 'em in an iPad, so they're dead...), what has replaced it in the iPad world? What I mean is this: I'd like to be able to author a presentation, similar to a DVD, which would present a menu and chapter choices to my viewer.
DVD was such a nice tight spec, and doing simple menu stuff is second nature to me now...so what's replacing it in the post-disc world?
Any help would be appreciated...

Yes, that's how it works in theory.
In practice, I'm having the iPad see the chapters. Movie plays fine in QT7 Pro, QTX and iTunes (on the iMac that the iPad syncs to), but when transferred to the iPad whilst syncing, the chapter info is lost. Another helper suggested I upload the movie back from the iPad and see if the chapter info is there (ie, not being recognized on the iPad, but existing); or if the chapter info gets deleted during syncing.
More to come...as soon as the wife let's me have the iPad for a bit!

If you cannot resume or restart your movie rental download, try the following steps.
First, force close the iTunes app:
Double-click the Home button.
Swipe left or right until you have located the app you wish to close.
Swipe the app's preview up to close it.

IPad Movie rentals on iTunes app ?

This is a VERY annoying problem . I recently rented 2 movies all went well watched them and deleted them , however the iTunes app on the iPad says download error, tap to retry , no big deal right ? Well no , since the iPad registerest that 2 movies will be downloaded it sets aside 8Gb of space from my iPad , so now I have no available memory because it thinks that I'm going to download these two movies when I already have , also iTunes doesn't let me re download them since they are rentals , so I can't just download and delete . Any suggestions or answers? (:

I followed the steps, but when I click on my ipod in Itunes the movie doesn't show up. I haven't watched the movie and now it is completely gone anyways, but it didn't show up there when it was there either, so that doesn't work. Thanks though!

IPad movies onto DVD

If I purchased movies on my iPad and have them also on my iMac can I back it up onto a DVD to watch on a DVD player? If so, how? What free software can I use? I am new to apple so need something simple.

You can only copy them onto a DVD for backup purposes, you won't be able to play them in a normal DVD player.

Viewing iWeb Quicktime movies on PC

I've posted several Quicktime movies on my iWeb site and am getting reports from most of the PC users who've tried to view them that the movies won't open. I know that Quicktime 3 or later is needed. Is there any other advice I could give PC users toward viewing these movies?

Yes, Quicktime 3 is wayyyyyyy outdated.

the inspector will open on the right hand side of your screen
first drop down menu should say link to "external page"
second input your full web page link in the next text box
repeat as needed.
