IWeb is being discontinued?

I have heard that iWeb is being discontinued, i use it for my websites
my question is this;
Can i continue to use the software to design and maintain my websites and upload to my host or will it be defunked ?
thanks
steve

As you now know iWeb and iDVD have been discontinued by Apple. This is evidenced by the fact that new Macs are shipping with iLife 11 installed but without iWeb and iDVD.
On June 30, 2012 MobileMe will be shutdown. HOWEVER, iWeb will still continue to work but without the following:
Features No Longer Available Once MobileMe is Discontinued:
◼ Password protection
◼ Blog and photo comments
◼ Blog search
◼ Hit counter
◼ MobileMe Gallery
All of these features can be replaced with 3rd party options.
Currently if the site is published directly from iWeb to the 3rd party server the RSS feed and slideshow subscription features will work. However, if the site is first published to a folder on the hard drive and then uploaded to the sever with a 3rd party FTP client those two features will be broken.
There's another problem and that's with iWeb's popup slideshows.  Once the MMe servers are no longer online the popup slideshow buttons will not display their images.

However, Roddy McKay and I have figured out a way to modify existing sites with those slideshows and iWeb itself so that those images will display as expected once MobileMe servers are gone.  How to is described in this tutorial: iW14 - Modify iWeb So Popup Slideshows Will Work After MobileMe is Discontinued.

Apple has announced that iLife is now an unsupported product and those iApps will only be available thru the App Store from now on. However, the boxed iLife 11 at the online Apple Store (Store button at the top of the page) and those still on the shelves of retailers will include iWeb and iDVD. Those two apps were listed in small, gray text on the iLife 11 box that I bought. Personally, if I already didn't have a copy I would purchase one to have it for reinstallation purposes if ever needed.

  • I just saw a message that iWeb has been discontinued by Apple.  It suggested EverWeb.  Has anyone used this or do you have aother recommendation?

I just saw a message that iWeb has been discontinued by Apple.  It suggested changing to EverWeb.  Has anyone used this or do you have another recommendation?

    Hi
I have now used Everweb to transfer a website from iWeb & am now working on transferring a second website.
I cannot recommend Everweb highly enough. I am an amateur, so iWeb was the easy option for me. Everweb is just as easy to use and very similar to iWeb. New features are being added every few days.
I am extremely impressed by the excellent and prompt service from both the forum and support. All my questions have been answered (& there have been many of them!)
Everweb is complimented by an excellent site Everweb codebox which has developed more widgets and codes to add to Everweb. Roddy from Everweb codebox has been invaluable by answering questions on the forum & generally complimenting the Everweb team.
I have purchased the Everweb program & Hosting. This gives my 1 click updating and works seamlessly. The price is competitive and the support exemplary.
All in all, I am delighted with Everweb, excellent program & excellent support!! I would not hesitate in recommending it to anyone.
In answer to your question...buy it!!!!

  • Is Livecycle being discontinued

    Hi
On this page: Adobe - LiveCycle Developer Center | Adobe Developer Connection it states that "The Adobe Central Output Server family is scheduled to reach end of life on June 30, 2016. AEM forms is the recommended replacement for most Central products. "
It's not totally clear on any page I can find, but is LiveCycle (Workbench and Designer) part of this Adobe Central Output Server family that is being discontinued?  We are looking into what tool to use going forward and are trying to work out whether we should even consider Livecycle in the future or whether to just consider AEM forms as the only official Adobe option.
    thanks

  • Are they being discontinued

Are personal web pages being discontinued (deleted) as of Oct 8th 2015 ????

I had this same question back when I first became an Xfinity subscriber last December on this forum. Another subscriber was kind enough to point me to this page, which explains why Xfinity is doing this for.  Another user has also created this forum for posting comments about PWP's Discontinuance.

  • Is Flash being discontinued?

    Hi all,
I have had various people tell me that Flash is dead (get a life I say), but today my employer told me that Flash was being discontinued after 2013 and I had better start looking for an alternative for the company....
Is this true?  Even if Flash inst being discontinued are there any other software packages out there that let you creat interactive stuff like Flash does?
What do you guys reckon?  What is the word on the street?
    Cheers
    sub

No, flash is not dieing. It's mostly adapting to the current market.
Most of what you do in Flash can be done in HTML5/Canvas/JS which explains the new export to Canvas/JS feature in Flash CS6. Banners SHOULD be done in HTML/JS rather than flash for SEO optimization. That has always been Flash's weakness. It wasn't the easiest thing to get good SEO optimization with a full flash website.
    Flash is doing 2 things.
1, Adobe is repositioning to be the "Console of the web". They've said this themselves. They're investing in tapping into the GPU since flash player 11. Being the audience of the web, all dutifully with flash player installed, is vastly larger than the console market, they are targeting future high end features to attract game developers to the platform. In fact after August 1st you will need to pay a premium to Adobe if you use its premium features on a "console quality" game and exceed $50,000 in sales.
2, They're discontinuing flash player support for mobile devices (tablets/phones). AIR for devices is taking over here. The flash player was never all that great on my android tablets and phone anyhow. This is probably what your employer heard.
Don't be afraid to use Flash on the web. It's only going to get much better. But use it for its strengths. If you can do it in HTML5/JS then there's no reason to do it in Flash, less you want your site to take a search engine optimization hit and neglect mobile devices in the future.
It's sort of funny Adobe already mentioned discontinued support for Flash Player on mobile devices yet I still get updates for it on my android *Shrug*

  • Are eMac's being discontinued??

I have been thinking about buy an eMac, but they seem to be disappearing from the Mac catalogs and I cannot locate themon the Apple web site either.
Are the eMac's being discontinued? If so, what would be a good replacement for surfing the net and basic word apps?
    Please advise....
    Thanks,
    Dale

There have been several threads about this already, and they all carry the sad news that the emac has indeed been discontinued. The only mystery is why Apple has yet to make an official announcement.

  • Is the Photosmart Premium (309A) being discontinued?

This may be a dumb question, if so, my apologies.  I just purchased the Photosmart Premium last week, and all in all, I am pretty happy with it.  However, I was looking at some other printers on the HP site, and noticed that the Photosmart Premium is no longer listed as an available printer?  I had thought that this was a relatively new model, and was quite surprised not to see it listed anymore.  If it is discontinued, that is a concern to me, as I would not have purchased this model had I known it was on it's way "out" already.
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

There's no chance it can be discontinued at this point. Maybe the HP site is being updated, so it's temporarily missing. But no way in hell is this discontinued!

  • Is the iSight camera being discontinued? No longer for sale at Apple

    Hi,
I was just wondering why Apple has discontinued sales of the iSight camera. It is no longer being sold by apple per the phone sales department. Will they be offering anything to replace it?

    Hi leciaman,
Apple was forced to stop selling it in the EU due to its unacceptable levels (to the EU) of harmful chemicals. They have since stopped production. No-one knows if they plan to restart a less harmful version, of it they have have something else up their sleeve.
Please see other posts on here about alternative cameras.

  • Iweb is being crazy! moving pics, fonts,...

I am using i web to build a site offline currently so i dont have a link to give you but i will do my best to describe the issues.
    1. I added a text box and wrote a description of something. The text in iweb is a little off white. When i hit publish and go to visit my offline site, the text is black. How can i change that?
    2. Next to a section of text ( the color worked over here!) i added a picture just to the right of it. When i publish, the whole text box is filled with that picture and the picture is also to the right of it. Why is the image suddenly covering all of the text?!
    3. The image on the homepage was fine and working. The last time i hit publish, it defaulted to the original picture iweb supplies you with. Why is it substituting one picture with another?
I think this software would be great if it wasnt so buggy! please help!

I did something with my finger. And it wasn't that. Can you tell what it was?

    I don't know (3 times). I'm not clairvoyant.

  • Is the Canon CLI-8 ink being discontinued?

I was just at Office Depot attempting to buy several cartridges for my Pro9000 and was told Canon issued a buyback.  There were only a few individual colors left at my store.  Has anyone heard anything about this?

    Hi joyneel and ebiggs1,
While we aren't using the CLI-8 in any of our current models, that doesn;t mean that we are discontinuing their manufacture.  As long as people keep buying them, we'll keep making them until it gets to the point where the cost of making them exceeds their demand.  Considering that we sold a fair amount of printers that use that particular series, I don't see that happening any time soon.

  • Once again less service for more money ~ Personal Web Pages being discontinued!!!

Once again I would like to thank COMCAST for being cheap and money hungry. I use my personal web pages daily. This will create a lot of work and take a lot of time to move thing to another server that I will have to pay for on top of paying for internet service with COMCAST. Way to go. This will only cost me time and money once again. Stop being so cheap!!!! Bob

Yep. I'm extremely angry about this! I have been using the web space for years in order to upload helpful files to other people on Overclock.net such as screenshots, important setup files, important Windows files that someone might have lost, zip files containing a bunch of files that someone desperately needs, etc. etc. etc. That's years of uploading, and so it's years of files! Now that's being stripped away from me. Why? This is 2015, not 1985. It's not hard to provide storage space these days. Good lord. Comcast, are you really hurting for storage space on your servers? You have stolen our money for years, so the least you can do is let us keep our web spaces. I have created 7 different accounts on my Comcast account so that I could have 7 GB of storage space, which I have used quite well over the years. So now I have to sit here downloading ALL OF MY FREAKIN' FILES, and then I have to take them to some other location! Then, I have to go and update hundreds of links on Overclock.net and hundreds of screenshots in hundreds of posts that act as ARTICLES - not just posts. If I don't do that, then I'll have people asking me every single day why my links are broken and why my screenshots aren't showing up. Comcast, you sure know how DISSATISFY your customers I hate you now. I genuinely do. You have ruined my day, Comcast. I was actually having a good day for once, until you sent out the e-mail telling all of us about this.

  • Are the Touchsmart IQ 800 series being discontinued?

My daughter saw my touchSmart IQ 816 and liked it...........now when I look I do not find them ........have they had problems that caused HP to discontinue making this higher end version of the Touchsmart. I don't want to recommend something to her until I know what is happening with this series of computers.
If this is true, that might be the reason for some of my problems with such a new computer. I really need to find out something before time passes and my warranty expires.

I heard they were discontinuing the 25 inch large screens, but I don't know.
I had no problems all year with my IQ816 bought last January until October when the drive bricked up because I didn't know about the firmware bug.  Got that fixed and now I've got the wireless LAN not working and can't connect to the net.  Very upsetting.  And from what I understand, the LAN card is integrated in the motherboard.  Going to try a USB wireless and see if that works, hoping, cause replacing the entire motherboard doesn't sound like a happy or cheap option for me.
As a whole, I've loved my IQ816.  But I tweaked it like crazy when I got it so it would run smoothly all year.  That firmware bug is nasty, though, and without the firmware update, every one of the IQ's with that drive are ticking timebombs.  Like I'd recommend this pc, but only if you get the updates for it.
And I have no clue what's really wrong with the LAN card right now.  The only thing I did differently in the last two weeks was to get all the updates.  But it was still working okay when I did.  The LAN card just won't detect any wireless networks anymore out of nowhere.  It's probably a hardware problem.
The price of the IQ800's is dropping, if you want to get one, I'd wait a few more months and pick it up cheaper.  And then put the updates on it for the firmware.
