Iweb is not publishing

Hi, I created my secind webpage exactly as the first one and when I tru to publish it it give me an error. I use the same hosting company and everything looks the same. Nobody seems to know why it's not working. The only answer that I got was from the hosting provider that saud that it looks that I don;t have an index folder. Can anyone help me with this? (I do have a home page and again my first website works perfectly)

Are you publishing both sites to the same root folder?
Most tech support guys don't seem to understand how iWeb creates sites - a folder of files and an external index.html file.
Obviously, you can't have two index.html files in the same root folder so one of the domain names has to be directed to the index.html inside the folder.
Its far easier to get an account that allows for a root folder for each site - each with their own IP address...

  • In iweb changes not publishing

Since changing from mobileme server to ftp server, changes to website made in iweb do not publish?

If you are uploading your website files using the iWeb FTP, any old, existing files should get overwritten automatically. Try switching to another browser like Google Chrome or Firefox to view your site.
To find the file manager you need to login to your hosting account.
You can use the freeware Cyberduck to upload files and manage files on the server but it doesn't allow you to view the files on your Mac in the same window as the ones on the server...

  • Iweb will not publish...

iweb will not publish. i keep getting error message saying I need to sign in but i'm ALREADY signed in. this mobilme stuff is a mess and i am not happy about this...

  • My iweb would not publish. I made a desktop folder. How do I publish the folder to iweb on mobleme?

My iweb would not publish, I made a desktop folder for my iweb pages. Now how do I publish that to mobile me?

When you have iWeb open, in the navigation column at left, click first on the NAME of your site that you wish to publish -- when you do this, you should have the Site Publishing Settings show up in the main window at right.
Next, from the popup choices next to "Publish to:" select MobileMe.
If this is the first time you are doing this, you will need to type in your MobileMe account (name or email address), and make sure the proper email contact address is input, too.
If your site will be public, you'll all set; if you need to apply privacy settings, you do so here, too.
Now, click on the "Publish Site" button/icon at bottom in the toolbar, or select the same command from the menu bar in iWeb, under File. For the first time, you should choose "Publish Entire Site" (and be patient, it will take a while). Later, when you make changes, use the "Publish Site Changes" (much faster).
When your site is published, iWeb will present you with a sheet window with options to immediate View your site online in your browser, announce it to others (via Mail), or just hit "OK."
    Gooooooooo iWeb!

  • IWeb '09 not publishing accurately

This is driving me crazy: Simple elements like words that I am formatting in iWeb with color, font, size, shadow, hyperlink definition, etc., while looking and acting perfect in iWeb, do not make the translation to the published version (publishing to a local folder). These same elements (words) either disappear, change color, change font, revert to pre-saved (or other erroneous) text, color, size, font in the published version. I've tried redoing the site from scratch (one page at a time), quitting iWeb then re-launching, re-starting my computer, removing possible offending elements, but to no avail. Any ideas? Is this a known flaw in iWeb? Helllllllllp........

Try the troubleshooting steps under "Fix iWeb" here.....
    http://www.iwebformusicians.com/WebMusic/iWebTips.html
The restart dumps out all the redundant files.
Three is a bug that has really bugged me which screws up changes in hyperlinks sometimes.
To get out of this one I have to delete the item(s), save, quit iWeb, restart my Mac, relaunch and then add it again.
Painful and slow but it works.
Maybe one day the iWeb developers will try to fix this one!
Apparently they don't seem to care that their incompetence is wasting a lot of my time. Either that or they don't actually use iWeb which is probably more likely as is evident from their many serious blunders.

  • Iweb site not publishing

I modified my web site and I am trying to publish it but it will not publish any change. I am not using mobile me but ftp publishing

Publish your site to a local folder and launch this in the browser by double clicking the index.html file to see if the changes are present in this version. If they are then your problem is with FTP.
Always empty your browser cache after updating and before visiting your published site.

  • Iweb was not publishing changes to my personal domain name, AND now it won't let me publish at all!

Hi, i am new to the apple community so bare with me whilst i struggle to explain...
I recently purchased a hosting site through netregistry.net.  www.toyboxtherapies.com.au I spoke to them to allow the changes to the CNAME through their site. They did this for me. Once they did this my original 3 page site that I had published to mobileme came up.
When i added changes to the site, none of them were published even though iweb said they had been. I gave the site 48 hours (well, i gave them a week) to update the changes.
I went to double check today and now iweb wont let me publish to my domain name at all, it just lists File>Set up personal domain on mobile me.
When I log into mobile me my domain name is there. I have tried removing t and setting it up again, but nothing is happening with iweeb. Still the same problem.
Please help! I am trying to get this business off the ground and its all very frustrating!

This is what I see in a Lookup :
    ; <<>> DiG 9.6-ESV-R4-P3 <<>> www.toyboxtherapies.com.au cname +multiline +nocomments +nocmd +noquestion +nostats +search
    ;; global options: +cmd
    www.toyboxtherapies.com.au. 3600 IN CNAME web.me.com.
It means that the CNAME record points to MobileMe.
So go where you manage your domain and delete the CNAME record and change the  A-record(s) to point to your new webhost.
It takes some time for the changes to propagate thru the internet. A minimum of 20 minutes.
Note that when you publish to MobileMe, iWeb recieves the domainname information from the MobileMe server. Only when you publish elsewhere you have to enter the domainname. But if you do not change the settings where you host your domainname, it still directs to MMe. But that's beyond iWeb.

  • Podcasting on an iWeb site not published to .mac

Hi, I have created a website with iWeb which is hosted externally to .Mac. Everything works fine except I created a podcast (m4a file) which I'd like to include on my site. Can anyone let me know the steps I need to take to get this to be available to people using any PC when they visit my website? Do I need to convert it to another file type, embed a plug-in or whatever? Please explain in idiot proof terms as I'm a novice at this! Many thanks.

.m4a is a pretty standard file format. Sometimes PC users have better luck when they change the extension of the file to .mp4. But I'm not recommending this approach.
Here's where I am going with this... If you publish any kind of media file with iWeb -- video or audio -- iWeb will by default use (or expect to use) QuickTime to play them. This is true whether the site is being viewed on a PC or a Mac. The QuickTime coding is right there in the iWeb generated HTML files. Therefore, as long as your PC viewers have QuickTime installed (the latest version of QuickTime7 preferably), they will have no problem with the .m4a extension files.

  • IWeb will not publish to Mobile Me

I made several changes to our iWeb site last night and have published to the default Mobile Me location. While everything seems to publish correctly it obviously isn't happening.
All the changed page icons in iWeb remain red instead of turning to the published blue.
The old site is there but several pages/links are missing and the correct password for the photo galleries does not work.
Ideas on how to resolve this issue?
I am currently republishing to see is that resolves the issue. This is the 3rd re-publish.

I designed the page in the USA but am currently updating it in France (Bordeaux). I was also not able to use Safari and had to change to firefox.
What else can I do to publish my webpage?

  • IWEB updates not publishing

I recently procured a domain name with the intention of creating an IWEB site using mobileme as a host. With a domain name registered with GoDaddy, I published the site and after some phone conversation with GoDaddy was able to reach the site. In turn, the site URL showed as the following http://www.xxxxxxx.com/OurLifeIn...%21/Welcome.html although I had already made changes. When using "visit" in IWeb the URL is http://www.xxxxxxx.com/WesJansAdventures/index.html and does not show. The latter is correct. How do I correct?
    Wes

Please provide your real url so people can see for themselves what is happening.
As a general rule you should not name your top page in iWeb "index" as this may conflict with index.html files automatically created by iWeb and cause problems. Use Welcome or Home or whatever.

  • Iweb Movie not publishing

I have been posting blogs and photo albums etc. to iweb without any problems. As soon as I try to post a movie I get "Publish failed due to a network error. Check your Internet connection and try again."
My movie is only 2mb. I have posted to idisk and it seems to be there. I have deleted any copyrighted music... I have used Quicktime to reduce file...I have tried everything I can think of...
My page shows up with the Quicktime symbol but nothing will play. I have the most recent iweb. I use Firefox not safari as my browser (in case that makes a difference)...
Please help this has been a thorn in my side for months!
    Thank you!

Did I ask what your connection to the internet is? You're uploading more than 2.8 megs just updating all your info so I'd imagine that should be fine. Does the file name have any special characters (anything other than letters numbers and one period?). The name shouldn't factor into it since a smaller .mov published, but again, this is a strange one so nothing can be ignored
When you published previously accidentally to the blog page. If you put the SAME video that went properly on the blog page onto a movie page will THAT publish?
If so, then it's starting to look more and more like something just doesn't like the fact that your movie is over 2 megs (since smaller movies WILL publish).

  • IWeb will not publish after 1.0.1 update

Just chiming in that I am having the same problem. I add a page to my site and it logs in to .Mac but crashes during the upload with the message "Publish Error: An unknown error occurred." And I just spent 30 minutes talking to the applecare people and they had no idea what to do. So, as many of us here have done, they suggested I back up my pages from where they were saved to my hard drive and then re-install the original iWeb off the disc over the old version.
(For this advice I bought AppleCare? LOL!)
I'll give it a try, but will have to live without the update for now, and hopefully I won't lose the pages I've already worked so hard to build. I will also send feedback to Apple. Hopefully they will come up with a fix for the problem once they realize so many of us are having problems.
    Powerbook G4   Mac OS X (10.4.5)

    Hello,
    I'm having big issues too!
I can't publish my site anymore. It was fine, then I made the usual updates to my site (new pics, etc u name it).
Tried to publish it, it took ages, then at some point I got "Error while publishing: an error occurs while publishing the file "pagetop10.png".
    http://freak6767.free.fr/Temp/iWeb%20error%20ju.png
I'm publishing to my .mac account straight from iWeb.
I do use a symbolic link of the "domain" file on both of my G5 and PowerBook, so I can run the original "Domain" file off my iPod.
But it's not the cause here, cause even running off the domain file in the iWeb folder didn't solve the problem.
The G5 is still on 10.4.3 and iWeb 1.0, while the powerbook is on 10.4.5 and iWeb 1.0.1, so, again, I don't think it matters as I still can't get the site to be published without getting an error. (it's a different *.png that can't be loaded everytime)
I've tried erasing my whole site on my iDisk, and republish all (hold option key in File>>Publish), no luck...
    I just don't get it!
    Help! lol

  • Iweb revisions not publishing - site looking crazy.  why? what to do?

    Hey there
I'm trying to publish my site (www.whereidstay.com) - and it keeps publishing a crazy version for about 3 of 7 of the pages, with enornous and misplaced text, etc.   I've tested the connection to the ftp server, and that seems to be working fine.  I'm not a pro at this stuff, so I'm stumped!
Any ideas?  I'm hoping to send out a blast email today since our business will be featured on HGTV's House Hunters Intermational tonight, but i don't want to if the site looks crazy!
    With thanks in advance
    Ashley

First clear your browser's cache (Command+Option+E for Safari) and reload the site.  Check the pages to see if they appear corrent now.  I loaded your site and it appears OK but I don't know if any text is missing.  What's there looks OK.
If there's missing text can you include a screenshot of the page in iWeb for comparison?

  • IWeb 09 not publishing new album to folder.

As of earlier today, I had 5 albums on my album photos page. I tried adding a new one today. I saved, published to folder, and then uploaded it to my website via Cyberduck. I went online to see if it was up or not and apparently it didn't upload. I looked into the published folder and it isn't there either. iWeb is acting as if it did publish the new album. It shows the album on the photos page, but not in the published folder.
I import my photos from Aperture 3.
    Any ideas?

Did you try clearing the MMe login cache by logging in with a bogus user name and password? This this:
1 - go to the System/MobileMe preference pane and log out of MMe.
2 - login with a bogus username and password, like "test" and "test". This clears the caches.
3 - login with your correct username and password.
4 - launch iWeb and try again.
When you say nothing happens does iWeb go thru the motions? You did check the site online to confirm, right?
