Iweb issues

I am having major issues with iweb. It won't update in the program, yet it seems to have updated on the actual site. There are also lines missing on my page.
iweb also keeps asking me to sign in, when I already am.
Does anyone know if this is being worked on, does this have to do with the update to mobileme?

There are also lines missing on my page.
What do you mean by missing lines on the page? Do you see something like this? If so see the fix discussed in this thread: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1605665&tstart=0. If you're having problems with Firefox 3 then this thread will help: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1600618&tstart=0.
iweb also keeps asking me to sign in, when I already am.
I've been experiencing that on and off today. Often I have to try two to three time in succession before it will go thru, but it always got thru.

The same issue appears when you try to view the website the site-name-on-iweb appears instead of the user being sent to ...

Any help would be sincerely appreciated.  Thanks

    Hi LPopoff,
Per my knowledge, there is no difference for Form library with the RSS Feed.
Please clear the cache in Internet Explorer(IE) and then check the results again.
It seems that IE has cached the feed data and display the result the same as the original one.
    Thanks,

  • IWeb issues with comments

I have read through many posts about this issue but have not been able to resolve my problem. I have been running my iweb site with a domain since the beginning of the year. I have had issues with the comments form not loading properly before but it has always fixed itself. The problem I am having currently has been going on for almost 10 days now.
I have reloaded my site many times. I have uploaded it without comments, and then with comments again. I have checked my DNS hosting and it is being routed to web.me, I have checked mobileme and my domain is web.me, I have checked iWeb and it has @me.com. Yet, when the comments form loads it goes to mac.com. I have tried this on my hubby computer and it seemed to load fine, yet on my computer and those of some of my friends, have said they are unable to load.
I am very frustrated and don't know where to head next. I am computer savvy but not enough to get into code and all that. Is anyone able to help me?

Same problem here. The form to add comments on an iWeb blog published on MobileMe is broken. It doesn't load all the objects correctly, and site visitors cannot comment. I wonder if it's some kind of server-side error. When using Safari's JavaScript debug console, I get this:

  • Major iWeb issues

I have a few issues maybe someone can help, I have created a website to be published to an FTP server. iWeb asked if it should replace the old website. First issue the upload took ages only to come up with the error cannot resume publishing, near the end of the upload. On the web it still showed the old website but only the home page. Then I downloaded Transmit, logged on the the ftp server, only to find the old website and the new iWeb site on there. I then proceeded to delete the whole lot, published the website to a local folder then uploaded the contents to the ftp server. This seemed to work, but the following happened, instead of the site being www.theafricahouse-zanzibar.com it is www.theafricahouse-zanzibar.com/www.africahouse-zanzibar.com/ . This is a problem, cause what I know of html is that the site is not in the home directory.... but there was no home directory for the previous web site.etc. and does iWeb not do this himself. This is issue No1 can some one help with this?
Issue No. 2, I've created a slideshow in iPhoto exported it to Quicktime converted it for web, sized it, then placed it on the website, in iWeb under the Quicktime I tab in inspector, I removed the movie controller, I ticked loop and autoplay, this does not appear to happen on the website. But it does work when I view the site in Safari from the local published folder on my HD. Can someone help?
Issue No. 3 The navbar does not work at all period not in iWeb also not on the web nor in the local folder... can someone help?
Issue No. 4 The lovely fonts that came with iWeb seem to go missing, and replaced on the web with some horrible font and the color changed, this is just ridiculous actually, in the local folder the font stays in some places and some not and color changes etc. Should iWeb not rasterize the font and convert it to smart objects or something, or embed it into the code and send it with the media files ? Can some one help?
Then issue No. 5 The logo's I've placed on the site have transparent backgrounds these are fine in iWeb but on the web, and after publishing then to a local folder and viewing with Safari the backgrounds appears black, which in this case looks horrid! Can some one help?
I seems like what you get in iWeb you don't get on the web?
Please help!!! I don't know much about web developement/html but I think there might be something wrong with the source codes, and that there is problems in the CSS, and that they don't load correctly there might be
spaces in the code, I don't have the time and patience to check, when Apple should know better. Also are the sites created in iWeb compatible with IE, Firefox, etc.
Because the following java scripting (quoted from the site iWeb coded) source code is not compatible with all browsers...
    <script type="text/javascript" src="Scripts/iWebSite.js"></script>
       <script type="text/javascript" src="Scripts/Widgets/SharedResources/WidgetCommon.js"></script>
       <script type="text/javascript" src="Scripts/Widgets/Navbar/navbar.js"></script>
       <script type="text/javascript" src="Welcome_files/Welcome.js"></script>

    Hi
This might be a conclusion to issue 3. Make sure that nothing is overlapping the nav bar as this then will hide it and you cannot see it. If you go to arrange/show layout you should be able to see what is overlapping what. The other thing you mentioned is items moving, this could also be an overlapping problem. You might have to set up wraparounds on some on your pics or text etc. With regards to fonts you must use web safe fonts. The fonts that you are using do not come with iweb they are supplied with your mac. If you want to use a certain font and it is not web safe you must convert it to a picture by adding a shadow then turn transparency down to zero. Web safe fonts are Arial, Georgia, Geneva etc if you type in web safe fonts on this forum you will find a list somewhere. Hope this gets you started.

  • The never-ending iWeb issues...

So I've officially had it up to the back teeth with iWeb screwing up my website....
I'm constantly getting the error message:
"iWeb couldn’t connect to MobileMe. Make sure your Internet connection works and try again"
I am connected, so I'm completely baffled and annoyed by this. I totally reloaded my site last weekend, it took ages as it's a podcast site with a fair amount of audio. I hoped by doing the "Publish All to MobileMe" that'd it'd refresh everything and I'd have no more hassles updating. Wrong.
I've followed the advice of this site:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=7751904#7751904
and opened an iDisk window in Finder first, that doesn't work.
I've reverted to uploaded the updated files to my iDisk via Transmit, but that's a serious pain in the butt and a time waster. iWeb is meant to do it automatically and "1-click", but iWeb and MobileMe seems to be just serious pieces of crap at the moment. Yay, they've given us three months free subscription, I don't care! I'd rather it just worked. Isn't that meant to be Apple's motto? It just works!
I'm already ticked that I have to convert my mp3's to VBR files to stop the OCD iWeb compulsively converting them to .mov's. It strikes me that Apple just seriously doesn't give a stuff at the moment.
So.... When will iWeb and MobileMe "Just Work" again? When will posting my podcasts be simple again?
Anyone else having repetitive issues with this that other 'fixes' don't resolve?

Try the fix reported in this article. Even though it's for an email problem it helped others in publishing:
    Source: http://www.macintouch.com/readerreports/mobileme/index.html#d30jul2008
    Page Title: MobileMe
    Date: Wednesday, July 30, 2008 9:06:25 AM

After waiting a day for the rolling restore to happen, I called AppleCare because Apple had sent an email saying my service was back, and it wasn't. I still could send and not receive using Mail.
Here is what fixed it. Go to MobileMe (terrible name) in System Preferences, log out. Then enter a garbage name and password and try to log in. This apparently clears the MobileMe preferences. Then enter your real UserName and PassWord. For me this was lights on.
I am left wondering how long ago I could have had email had I known this preference reset scheme.
Log into another account on your Mac, log into your MobileMe account via the System/MobileMe preference pane, open iWeb and create a small test site and try to publish it. Report back on the success or lack thereof.

  • Iweb issue - question marks ??

    Hello
I'm a new user to iweb and this is my first post.
Basically I have been getting used to the iweb app for a few days now and have started putting a basic website tigether as a kind of online cv for the work I do.
I currently have a small amount of web space (55meg) with my broadband account and have been using this to publish and test my web site.
I have been using Safari, Firefox and Internet Explorer 5.2 on my G5 to view the web site.
Generally everything looks fine, but the odd question mark symbol keeps popping up. Ironically the site seems to look best in IE, but question mark symbols show up in all three browsers.
I wondered if anyone may be able to help with this ?
    Many thanks in advance
    Dual 1.8 G5   Mac OS X (10.4.7)

Hi rdfmusic and welcome to the iWeb forum!
Your problem is a common one when publishing to a non .Mac server but is easily fixed. Tom Gewecke has created a page that addresses this with the solution:
    http://homepage.mac.com/thgewecke/iwebchars.html
Tom has also set up a page with links to a lot of tips on using iWeb:
    http://web.mac.com/thgewecke/iWeb/1/Tips.html
Others have also put lots of other iWeb tips in their web sites, you can search in this forum for those who have been most helpful and click on the link to their sites.

  • Iweb issues on Maverick

    My problems is as follows.
I uploaded Maverick last Thursday. I don't know why I did it but I did. I think it was a stupid move on my part.
The first problem I encountered was when I went to update my Iweb file, it displayed an older file.
I checked my archive files, and when I opened them, they were all identical.
However, when I view the file on the side bar, they would show the correct version.
Despite what I did, I could not get my current file to display the right information.
So, I began creating an new iweb page and filed it in it's own folder.
Now, when I went back and opened the older files, they would all display the newly created page.
Yesterday, when I opened the new file, it displays the older files with some missing images.
I simply want to access my files and continue using Iweb. HELP!

To open your domain file in Lion, Mountain Lion or Mavericks or to switch between multiple domain files Cyclosaurus has provided us with the following script that you can make into an Applescript application with Script Editor. Open Script Editor, copy and paste the script below into Script Editor's window and save as an application.
do shell script"/usr/bin/defaults write com.apple.iWeb iWebDefaultsDocumentPath -boolean no"
    delay 1
    tell application "iWeb" to activate
You can download an already compiled version with this link: iWeb Switch Domain.
Just launch the application, find and select the domain file in your Home/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder that you want to open and it will open with iWeb. It modifies the iWeb preference file each time it's launched so one can switch between domain files.
WARNING: iWeb Switch Domain will overwrite an existing Domain.sites2 file if you select to create a new domain in the same folder.  So rename your domain files once they've been created to something other than the default name.
NOTE: In Lion and Mountain Lion the Home/Library folder is now invisible. To make it permanently visible in Lion or Mt. Lion enter the following in the Terminal application window: chflags nohidden ~/Library and press the Return key - 10.7: Un-hide the User Library folder.
For Mavericks, 10.9 ,  go to your Home folder and use the View ➙ Show View Options menu to bring the this window:

  • Internet Browser iWeb issues

After creating and previewing my website with iWeb '08, it all works fine. After uploading it to the net, I noticed that whenever I navigate from page to page using Safari or Windows Explorer, each page goes to white and then reboots the entire page every single time you navigate from one to the other, but when viewing it in Firefox, it works exactly like it does in the iWeb preview, without the white flashes. Is there anything I can do to fix that?

    my url is http://web.me.com/toby92/Site/Tobysmainpage.html
I have no problem reaching it (though not much there).

  • 2 Iweb issues need solving please!

    1) when I publsih my website and visit it, why, in the webstie toolbar at the top, does it come up with my website name twice e.g www.ambphotographer.co.uk/www.ambphotographer.co.uk
    2) why does my website, when viewed, only fill up a small portion of the screen? is there a way to expand the site so that it can fill up the entire screen?
    thanks

The first part is your domainname.
The second part is your site name.
And the third part is a filename.
If you do not like your sitename, type other characters.
iWeb pages have a fixed width. And are centered in the browser window. You can make the page wider in the inspector.
It's not unique. Most webpage have a fixed width.
And note that not everybody has the same monitor size.
And to overcome the sitename in the URL, here's my default reply :
Often discussed and searched for : avoid iweb sitename
    Read this :
         The concept of iWeb Sites
A Site, which is just a folder, is a convenient way to organize your pages based on topic, subject or whatever you choose to keep relevant pages together. I’ve been doing that for the past 17 years, and I find it rather natural.
To avoid the Sitename in the URL, read my solution. It's very technical but in the end it saves time. And best of all, iWeb is not involved :
Avoiding the iWeb Sitename in the URL
An easier, time-wasting, solution is to publish to a folder on your desktop.
Open that Site folder and move the content of that folder to the root of the webserver with a FTP application.
(The root of a webserver is where the file or folder, shown immediately to the righthand side of the domainname, is stored.)
Everytime you make changes to a page, you have to repeat these steps.
But the result is what you want.
And here's a re-post with some additional info about using an index.php file to avoid overwriting the index.html file iWeb creates :
Avoiding the iWeb Sitename in the URL
Works on all servers. With or without a subdomain I may add. Like this one :
         http://wyodor.byethost8.com/htdocs/index.html
Not as easy as publishing to a folder, but in the end it saves time. Again.
See this post that explained the link above :
Re: iWeb keeps populating a site name at the end of my url.  Causing error.

  • Iweb issues - photos are put in a RANDOM ORDER when added to photo grid

My website created with i-WEB contains a lot of photos.
When I add them to a photo grid (on a page using the "Photos" template, by dragging and dropping from Finder) the order of the photos is randomized by i-web.
They are kind of in reverse order (highest file number first) but with a large number of files just randomly arranged in no particular order. The files have simple numerical names like "img_100, img_101, img_102" etc which are in numerical / date order in Finder, but when loaded into i-web are not in any order.
I can't see a feature / option anywhere in I-web to re-arrange images according to name. I can of course manually rearrange them which is fine for a dozen images, but not when I have 500.
I have tried adding a small number of images to see if it's a problem with overloading the software with too many, but the problem happens with 5 images as well as 500.
    (this is i-web '08)
    Matt

The photo app puts files in date/time order and ignores their names.
You can look for another app that may honor file names (sorry, I don't know any to recommend) or you can find a program that alters your file properties. If all the files have properties that read the same date and time, then it defaults to alphabetical order

  • IWeb Issue on iPad using Slideshow

I was at the Apple store on Sunday to "play" with an iPad and encountered a little "bug" that the Apple staff admitted was a problem. We were looking at a blog that I set up after a recent trip using one of the standard travel formats. I wanted to see how the photos looked on the iPad, and they were amazing. The resolution was beautiful, and the size was nice when looking at them individually. However, we could not view them using the Slideshow except in very small size no matter what we did. I think this is just a glitch, and I'm sure it will be fixed.
One thing I don't understand is why there doesn't appear to be an easy way to convey these types of problems to Apple online? The only way I can see to do it is if I actually owned an iPad, I could "speak to an expert." I suppose I could access an expert with another piece of hardware that I actually own and switch topics to an iPad, but that seems fairly indirect. Am I missing something?

No fix yet as such however,
One can fix this situation by duplicating the 'phoneshow.html' file in your photo album and calling it something like 'padshow.html' then resizing the width and height specifications of the slideshow in the new padshow.html file. All one needs to do then is add device detection such as:
    if(navigator.userAgent.match(/iPad/))
        location = 'padshow.html' + location.search;
in the head of the phoneshow.html file.
I found that using dimensions of width: 672px and
height: 756px worked best on the iPad in either portrait or landscape mode.

  • Counter (iWeb) issue

I have a domain name setup that 'points' to part of my .mac website (I have split my domain files so that I don't have to publish all my stuff all the time).
I have a counter on the front page of this part of the site and it does not display using the URL I have chosen. It will display if I go to the .mac address i.e. web.mac.com/....relevantaddress.......
Can I get around this - it's only a minor niggle but would still be interested if their is a fix?
    Thanks in advance

  • Photo file issues with iWeb and Aperture....also too much duplicating!!

A little background, before I get into my iWeb issue.....
Years ago I tried iPhoto, but I didn't like how it duplicated all my photo files and I wasn't very fond of the file structure it created. Years later (last month) I got Aperture. Aperture (still has a long way to go) also duplicates all your files and places them in their own file structure. If I can get along with Aperture (and if it will get along with my other programs), I won't mind putting all my files into the file structure it creates. But for now, I still have my original files in the original file structure I have had for many years as a back up.
On to my issue with iWeb and Aperture....
To add photos to iWeb, you can either go into the iWeb media center or you can drag and drop photos from other locations.
    1st: iWeb media center
To get my photos into the media center, I would have to load them into iPhoto (iP 6 does allow you to keep your original file structure, but it still creates .jpg files, which fills up your hard-drive. More duplicates I don't need or want). So that is out for me. iP6 will let you view and use your Raw files.
Another way is to drag and drop your file structure directly into the media center window. I don't think this duplicates any files (at least I haven't been able to find any), but it takes an awfully long time to thumbnail all your photos (several hours and still waiting for 22K + files). Also, it won't show any Raw files. Again, out for me.
Aperture won't let you drag and drop its library into the media center at all. So if I was to move all my files into the Aperture Library, I wouldn't be able to access them for iWeb at all.....Out for me.
    2nd: Drag and Drop
I was able to drag and drop Raw files directly into iWeb from C1 Pro, Adobe Bridge and Adobe Lightroom.
As I said before, I am trying to move over to Aperture. However, Aperture won't let me drag and drop photos. What is the deal here??? These are both Apple programs and they won't play nice with each other. Very annoying.
Anyway, I put a link below to my iWeb test webpage I made. All the photos were Raw files that I did a drag and drop from C1 Pro, Adobe Bridge and Lightroom. There were no problems with the publishing.
    http://web.mac.com/phil_navarro/iWeb/Site%202/Drag%20and%20Drop%20test.html
So, does anyone know if they can get photos from Aperture to work?? Thanks for any responses.
    Phil
    G5 Desktop   Mac OS X (10.4.4)

    Jedi,
    Perhaps you are right.
I am not a web developer and I will never be. I don't feel like spending countless hours learning how to use Dreamweaver or some other Pro web app. iWeb looked like a way to start making websites of my photos for my friends and family (much easier and better than Home Page on .Mac). All I was asking was for a way to drag and drop my photos (especially Raw files) with Aperture. Which I can do with Lightroom, Adobe Bridge and C1 Pro, and without using iPhoto.
I am not a Pro photographer either, but I purchased Aperture based on what was advertised on the Apple website. From that ad, Aperture fit my photo needs almost to a tee. I am looking to adjust Raw files, Crop, Archive and keep my use of Hard Disk space down to a minimum. I can use Photoshop for the other 5% of things I do. However, Aperture has some issues (if you own it, then you already know. If you don't, you can read the Aperture Forum) This is one of the reasons I never went to iPhoto for archiving. I didn't like the way it duplicated all my files, taking up more disk space and its file structure. So even though Aperture won't play nice with other programs, I was surprised that it wouldn't play nice with any Apple programs.
After reading your post and based on what you are saying, everyone either needs to have/learn/use Pro apps only or have/learn/use iApps only. Don't Cross the Streams!!
I guess that means Apple will need to fix DVD Studio Pro. It uses photos that are in your iPhoto library and music from iTunes (iApps in a Pro app??....for shame...."it was never intended"). Also, DVD SP won't read the Aperture library. Does that mean there are 3 platforms? Pro, iApp and Mediocre??
    Now I have 2 questions:
    1. Can someone please tell me which apps are Pro and iApp, or if there is Mediocre? I don't want to mix them up and "Cross the Streams".
    2. Again....is there anyway to use Aperture with iWeb?
    TIA,
    Narvon
