IWeb- links in snippets sometimes open within the snippet itself

I have many links in snippets that are supposed to open within the same window. I find sometimes if the the page is not fully loaded and users click on these links, they are then opened within the snippet and not the main window. I end up with a site within the snippet. It's horrible. Is there a way to define links using html or java in order to specify the change to occur in the main or parent window?

Your url would be helpful so that we can see what is happening, because I do not really understand what you mean.
If you place links in an html snippet, then you need to create the links using html in the first place?
The only way that a link would open like this is perhaps if you used iframe code instead of the ordinary link code?

PDF cannot open within the Safari.

Hi Experts,
Whenever I click on PDF file within a Safari - I have always had it open within the Safari Browser.
It does not open anylonger within the safari. Please let me know if there is some settings I need to enable to restore PDF open within the browser.

Open the Finder. From the Finder menu bar click Go > Go to Folder
Type of copy / paste: /Library/Internet Plug-Ins
Click Go the move the Adobe PDF browser (or just PDF browser) plugin to the Trash.
Quit and relaunch Safari to test.

Oracle Reports: Opening within the same browser all the time

Hi there,
I am running Oracle Report 10g using Oracle AS 10.3.
The report output is PDF to a browser.
Each time I run the report, it opens within the same browser.
Is there an option to open the report in a new browser all the time.

I guess you run the report from a form using WEB.SHOW_DOCUMENT? If so, use '_blank' as second parameter, this will open the given url in a new window.
btw.. if you use forms to start a report you may consider to use RUN_REPORT_OBJECT to start the report instead of using the url-syntax.

Currently logged in from within the app itself

I need to find out who or how many users are currently logged into my app from within the app itself and display it within a report for the app administrators. Any thoughts or ideas.

FireFox 3.6 and Adobe Reader X. Reader X PDFs opened within the browser contain links, which do not work. Anyone got clues on why the links fail and how to fix?

When we rolled out ReaderX and AcrobatX we uncheck the Diaply PDF in Browser window. OK with IE, but ignored in FireFox (3.6.16). We can live with that except the PDFs have links to other URLs and clicking on them is ignored. Same PDF opened outside the browser the links work fine. FireFox with Reader 9.4.0 no problem. Reader X with IE no problem. I can fix the Display in Browser with a change to firefox.js, but have not figured out how to fix the links when the PDF is displayed within the browser.

1. Are you seeing this problem with all kinds of PDF's or some specific kinds like secure PDF's (with doc open password or printing restrcitions), reader extended PDF's or PDF forms.
This problem is with all kind's of PDF's.
2. Are you opening a locally saved PDF by doing a drag drop in the browser or right click and open with IE/FF or directly opening a PDF hosted on the internet?
It doesn't matter. However I do it, I see this problem in Firefox, IE & Google Chrome.
3. Can you also check the version of the Reader X browser plugin? you could find it at C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Acrobat\ActiveX\AcroPDF.dll. Right click -> Properties -> Details
If version is 9.0.x then you could try a clean install of Reader X.
I have checked it. It's the latest plug-in (though at the moment, I have gone back to Adobe Reader 9.4.1, as I've mentioned before, because I need the reader to be working fine for my work and daily life. I am just waiting for a fix before I try Adobe Reader X again.
As I've mentioned before, I am seeing this issue ONLY on my Windows 7 Ultimate (Laptop). In the desktop's at work, with Windows XP / Vista, I don't see it. Adobe Reader is working fine, browser integration is fine, the floating tool bar works fine, the right click menu pop' up where the right click is done...I can also save PDF' from the main toolbar at the top and so on...
I really have run out of ideas.... and I am very surprised that no expert support personnel (if at all there is one) have dropped by or said anything or mentioned anything about this.

Link needs to be open in the same window

i have one requirement,on dashboard page I have dragged three reports on dashboard page next i am selected this option "Link-with in the Dashboard" for three reports .i saved the dashboard page,on dashboard page i am getting three reports as three links(report1,report2,report3). when i click on report1 link i need to open the report in the same page and same window and below that report1 i need to show remaining two links report2,report3 links.coluld you please provide me solution for this.it is an urgent requirement for me.

To the current dashboard create 3 different pages like with content as below
Page1:
Report1 with Display Results->Embedded in Section
Report2-> Link - Within the Dashboard
Report3-> Link - Within the Dashboard
Page2:
Report1-> Link - Within the Dashboard
Report2 with Display Results->Embedded in Section
Report3-> Link - Within the Dashboard
Page3:
Report1-> Link - Within the Dashboard
Report2-> Link - Within the Dashboard
Report1 with Display Results->Embedded in Section
Once you done with this hide these 3 pages using Dashboard page properties.
Come to your actual page where you want to show these 3 reports as links
Use 'Link or Image' and call each page, thats it.

When clicking CTRL+Link my new tab opens in the background window, instead of the foreground window I'm using. Is there a way to make this work the way it used to, where the new tab always opens in whatever window I was currently using?

I use a web based software for work. I go to a web page listing all employees as links (Window A). When I click an employee link a new window opens (Window B). Window B contains links, i.e. Add Client, Change Address, Change Phone Number, Change Name, Upload Photo, etc... When I hold CTRL and left click the links in Window B, the new tab opens in Window A. I don't understand why this has changed, as I've been using this method to open new tabs in my current window in both of the previous versions of Firefox.

That didn't work, but thank you very much for the offer of help. I had already tried that option.
To give you an example of what I'm speaking, I found this page that recreates the scenario.

How do I make Firefox 4 the default browser? Whenever I open a link from email, it opens in the older version of Firefox.

Photoshop, I am in a class, I need to reset to default setings, to enable mini bridge to open within the program. I have followed the instructions and i reset to default settings. The program opened and no mini bridge tab appearred as instructed.

Photoshop cc2014, windows 7, instructions to open mini bridge tab are; open photoshop program, as it opens press cntrl, alt and shift to open prompt for default settings. When prompt opens, press yes and then the program continues to open and the tab for the mini bridge should open at the bottom left corner of the application page. I have done this numerous times and no tab appears, I even uninstalled photoshop and re installed and it still did not work. ( not sure what platform you mean, I am a novice, to say the least.

Change display language of smartform from within the smartform itself

We can't change calling code (because it's standard).
Is it possible to change the displaying language of a smartform from within the smartform. Say, "Initialization" section?

1.    Define a variable and allocate language u want to langu fields.
DATA lV_CT_PARA TYPE SSFCTRLOP.
Here LV_lang contain the language u want to assign.
LV_CT_PARA-LANGU = LV_LANG.

Files sometimes downloading instead of opening within the browser

I know this has been discussed before but I was unable to find an answer. When I try to open a video file while surfing sometimes it opens and plays in quicktime and at other times it starts to download. How do you set it up to play all of the time instead of downloading? My experience has been with videos and not text files as in previous posts.

It often depends on the website serving the videos. If they specify the wrong MIME type for the file then Safari will treat it as a regular binary file and download it.
Can you give examples of sites where you see the differing behaviour?

Linking to a specific page within the same PDF

Hello There!
I have one PDF document that is organized like this:
Page 1-10 Main Information
Page 11-12 Appendix 1
Page 13-15 Appendix 2
I need direct links to Appendix 1 and Appendix 2 from a HTML page. For example, when the user clicks (within my HTML page) on Appendix 1, the PDF opens and automatically goes to Page 11.
I know in HTML I would use an anchor tag but that does not seem to be an option here.
Any advice on this?

Thunderbird email links will no longer open on the Firefox browser. (I have to use another browser to open email links.)

Since a recent update (either for Firefox or Thunderbird, don't remember which), links in my Thunderbird emails will not open in Firefox. I can't even open the Thunderbird "help" link. In desperation, I installed Opera, and the email links work perfectly well. There seems to be some sort of disconnect between Thunderbird and Firefox.

I fixed this myself. You have to ensure that Firefox is the default browser. In the Firefox menu (maybe under Edit if you are running Linux) go to Preferences. Click "Advanced" then in the "General" tab click the button toward the bottom that says "Check now" and Firefox will automatically check if it is the default browser and, if it is not, ask you if you want to make it default. Answer "yes" to this question.

When I open a link a new window opens with the toolbar and sidebar missing, on my previous machine the link simply opened in a new tab (not window).

When I open a link in Firefox instead of opening a new tab it opens in a new window with all of the toolbars missing including the sidebar, right clicking anywhere gives me no options to restore the toolbars. My old machine simply opened the same link that I am trying in a new tab with all my toolbars available.

Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode|Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).

Using iWeb, links to external sites revert to the apple site.

I have been wrestling with this for 2 weeks. Even the apple help desk can not sort this out and I have tried all suggestions from the apple support communities so far. When I try to link my web site to LinkedIn, it reverts to apple.live web site. I am going out of my mind trying to fix this. Does anyone have the solution??

Delete the link and try the following:

delete the iWeb preference files, com.apple.iWeb.plist and com.apple.iWeb.plist.lockfile, that resides in your Home() /Library/Preferences folder.
go to your Home()/Library/Caches/com.apple.iWeb folder and delete its contents.
Click to view full size
launch iWeb and try again.
NOTE: In Lion and Mountain Lion the Home()/Library folder is now invisible. To make it permanently visible enter the following in the Terminal application window: chflags nohidden ~/Library and hit the Enter button - 10.7: Un-hide the User Library folder.
