Iweb menu bar

i've created a pretty cool website using iweb. i've really customized it by using layers to cover the template and create my own look, however, i cannot figure out how to change the color or the font of the default fonts on the menu bar or how to place a layer behind the words to change the color of the page itself. can this be done or do i need to wait for an iweb upgrade?

you don't have to cover up the background
you can simply change it from the inspector, and objects from the templet you can just delete. if you want things to go behind one another
1. right click, or ctrl-left click
2. send to back, to front or whatever.
3. choose what you like

  • Iweb menu bar is grey

I have uninstalled iweb and reinstalled from original install DVD, but still the menu bar is grey and Iweb launches but that's it. Everything is grey, I cteannot open or start a new project.  I've looked at old posts but cannot delete any .Plist files nor any domains as such files do not exist anyway. Can any one help please?

    Try the following:
1 - delete the iWeb preference file, com.apple.iWeb.plist, that resides in your
         User/Home/Library/ Preferences folder.
2 - delete iWeb's cache file, Cache.db, that is located in your
User/Home/Library/Caches/com.apple.iWeb folder (Snow Leopard and Earlier).
3 - launch iWeb and try again.
NOTE:  In Lion and Mountain Lion the Library folder is now invisible. To make it permanently visible enter the following in the Terminal application window: chflags nohidden ~/Library and hit the Enter button - 10.7: Un-hide the User Library folder.
If that doesn't help continue with:
move the domain file from your Home/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder to the Desktop.
launch iWeb, create a new test site, save the new domain file and close iWeb.
go to the your Home/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder and delete the new domain file.
move your original domain file from the Desktop to the iWeb folder.
    launch iWeb and try again.

  • How can I create my own iWeb menu bar?

    Hi!
I would like to know how can I make a completely different menu than the ones iWeb has for my website?
Can you explain step by step?

  • Default menu bar - what can I do with this ver. of iWeb?

iWeb default setup ... them = 'white'
    Menu items\text:
My first page won't let me capitalize the title (home). I don't want to actually, but:
My other pages won't let me NOT capitalize the menu item titles.
So I'm stuck having an uncapped first menu item, then all the rest are capped.
Is there ANY way to now change the fonts\colors on these default menus?
If not, what would be the most practical way for me to create my own menu bar? Or can I easily replace the default menu bar with my own, after the fact, by just re-linking the pages?
    All ears,
    Ben

    Hello Ben,
Creating your own menu is really easy and oftentimes it works better that the original one.
First to remove the original menu go to the inspector on the page tab, and uncheck the display navigation menu item. Then on your page make a text box and type in the names that you want for your pages select each name (one at a time) and click on the link inspector tab (that is the second one from the right) click on activate link and choose one of my pages in the window, select the page and you are done.
    Hope this helps

  • The menu bar on my business home page is missing. It loads on Safari but not on Firefox. I used IWeb for the development of the site.

I've just updated my business website. It looks perfect on Safari - but the menu bar is missing from the first page on Firefox - so no one can enter the site. Does this mean it's being blocked as spam? How do I fix this? Help!!!

Reload web page(s) and bypass the cache to refresh possibly outdated or corrupted files.
*Hold down the Shift key and left-click the Reload button
    *Press "Ctrl + F5" or press "Ctrl + Shift + R" (Windows,Linux)
    *Press "Command + Shift + R" (Mac)
Clear the cache and the cookies from websites that cause problems.
    "Clear the Cache":
*Firefox > Preferences > Advanced > Network > Cached Web Content: "Clear Now"
"Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:
*Firefox > Preferences > Privacy > Cookies: "Show Cookies"

  • My hard drive crashed recently and i can no longer see my web site address in the iWeb side bar

I can n o longer see my web site address in the iweb side bar, how can I relocate it so i can edit my website

Let me start with the general advise...
When you have a problem with one particular site, a good "first thing to try" is clearing your Firefox cache and deleting your saved cookies for the site.
    (1) Bypass Firefox's Cache
Use Ctrl+Shift+r to reload the page fresh from the server.
Alternately, you also can clear Firefox's cache completely using:
orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Options > Advanced
On the Network mini-tab > Cached Web Content : "Clear Now"
If you have a large hard drive, this might take a few minutes.
    (2) Remove the site's cookies (save any pending work first). While viewing a page on the site, try either:
    * right-click and choose View Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
    * Alt+t (open the classic Tools menu) > Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
In the dialog that opens, you can remove the site's cookies individually.
Then try reloading the page. Does that help?

  • I am creating an I-Web webpage.  When I add pages, the only way to navigate throught the pages is with the menu bar on the left.  How do I navigate to each page on the actual website?

I am creating a website using i-web.  When I add pages, they appear at the top of the webpage, but I cannot navigate to each page in the navigation bar.  I can only navigate in the menu bar located on the left side of the program.
How do I navigate thru the website?

You don't unfortunately, iWeb though great does not allow that funtion.
If it is a deal breaker for you I would suggest SandVox or RapidWeaver.
    I personal like SandVox
How ever my website is WordPress, you have to understand a little code, but a lot more freedom

  • Menu bar not visible in IE

i published the website, i was able to view the menu-bar in all the explorers except Internet explorer. please give suggestions for rectifying the problem

The iWeb default navigation won't display on a PC running IE if java is disabled. This is why its better to hide the default navigation and build your own. See...

  • 2nd Menu Bar on my screen #2

I just upgraded to Maverick 10.9.2 from 10.9.1
in .1 I got a second main menu bar on my second screen, bit not in .2.
It was pretty handy as both screens are usually loaded.
Is  this something I can activate?

If you publish the site to a folder on your computer, does the navbar show up?
    What version of iWeb?
Did you add any pages to your site that might have gotten added to the navbar?  If it doesn't publish to a folder correctly, try going through your pages and removing some from the navbar; you might isolate the one that is causing problems.
    I see the black dot.

  • Created my own menu bar - but can't "BRING TO FRONT"

I am wanting to put a photo behind my "menu bar" that I created for my site - however, whenever I try to slide a photo behind it - the menu will not "bring to front" - all other text and images will - but for some reason at the top of the page is different? I feel like there's a lot of "auto formatting" going on in my site as well - anyway to turn that off?
    Thanks -

    It's all about z-index: http://www.w3.org/TR/CSS21/zindex.html
iWeb page has four layers: nav layer, header layer, body layer and footer layer.
Look at your age source and you'll find the following z-index:
    nav = 0
    header = 10
    body = 5
    footer = 15.
The scenario is that you created your "menu bar" in nav layer, then added a photo in either header or body layer and slide it into the nav layer, but the photo isn't really inside nav layer - it straddles between nav layer and the other layer.
When that happen you will not be able to bring your "menu bar" to front because the photo is always in front of nav layer.
You need to turn on view layout (Shift Command L) to see the layout and move the photo *completely inside nav layer*
or move your menu bar to body layer and add the photo to body layer, in short both the menu bar and the photo have to be in the same layer.

  • Can you lock the menu bar?

    Hi all,
I am using iWeb to create a website and so far am really pleased with what it can do.
However i would like to be able to lock the menu bar so that it always stays at the top of the screen and the rest of the page scrolls up underneath it, or alongside it if i put the menu bar on the left. The idea is that no matter where the reader is on the page they will always have access to the menu buttons. I remember doing this on another program back in the bad old windows days, i think it might have been locking panes or similar.
Can this be done in iWeb?
Thanks in advance for your help.
    Mike

Here's a locked menu in action.
    http://dl.dropbox.com/u/3563737/Lycos/Fixed.html
It's an Ad-Hoc solution, because I had the take the shaded bar at the top into account. Will fixed that later.
The bar at the top of this page and the other pages is a solution to have the bar stretch the width of the page when you resize the browser window.
It cannot be done in iWeb itself. You need a JavaScript.
So you get two solutions for the price of one.
    Here's the JavaScript :
Apparently Discussions does not accept all the JavaScript code.
So have a look at the source here :
    http://dl.dropbox.com/u/3563737/Lycos//Fixedfiles/widget1markup.html
Note that you can publish iWeb at DropBox.

  • Menu Bar moves after upload ?!@

ok i've no idea what on earth is going on here so i hope someone can explain.
Ive made my site in iweb.
ive created a menu bar at the top rather than use the one provided. it reads like the following
HOME - About us - Crew - Media - Links
ive uploaded my site via cyberduck. When i open the site to look at it in safari the word Links has moved down like a new paragraph below where it says Home.
However when i open the same page from my site in firefox, its totally fine and isnt all over the place,
    *** is going on?
Ive also asked a friend to open one of the pages and he too see's the problem on his pc using internet explorer and it does the exact same thing.

Did you use Web Safe Fonts for the navbar? Do you have Safari set to display a minimum sized font in it's Appearances preference pane that might be larger than the font you used in iWeb?

  • Menu bar crash

The menu bar on my mac mini running 10.8.1 is always showing the spinning beach ball. Happens after a couple hours or day. I have to reboot. Annoyingly, I can't use Spotlight as a result. I've tried removing everything, to no aval.

I see there are a lot of processes loading in the background. I'm curious which ones are responsible for the crashing. Thanks again for your help!!

  • Spry menu bar woes (add submenu levels and edit width)

So i need some spry menu bar help. Apparently as a graphic designer i'm also expected to webdesign, and while i can solve most problems with a good googling, i seem to be at  my wit's end fo this one.  So the site i'm doing has a header ith a horizontal spry pop-up menubar (in Dreamweaver CS4). But some problems arise:  when i manually add another submenu level, they don't show up in chrome or FF, they do werk perfectly in IE6. I just add the following code to the codepage:
    <li><a href="#" class="MenuBarItemSubmenu">audio equipment</a>             <ul>               <li><a href="#">Digital Matrix Systems</a></li>               <ul>               <li><a href="#">R2 Digital Audio Matrix</a></li>               </ul>               <li><a href="#">pre-amplifiers &amp; mixers</a></li>               <ul>               <li><a href="#">PMX124</a></li>               </ul>
the PMX never pops open in FF an chrome.. Should i be adding anything else to another part of the code?  i'd like my submenu text to have a slight indent? How ever, when i add the indent to ul.menubarhorizontal ul , it elongates the submeny boxes in IE6, while looking normal (width) in chrome and FF. WHat part of the CSS style should i change to just have the text scoot over a bit without it really affecting the box layout? ALso, if anyone could tell me how to add a wee bit of spacing above the text (and beneath), i'd be eternally gratefull.  Also, how do i change the with of the submenus? seing as my main buttons are images, but the names i ned to put in my submenus are turning out to be pretty long...
    HTML code for the menu:
