Iweb middle-level developing problems

Hi to everybody, i'm a new happy mac user! This machine is great =D
Sadly some troubles i'm having with iweb are cooling down my enthusiasm for ilife, but I'm dreaming of a solution!
I basicly have 3 needs that are, probably, common for all the users willing to get a complete website using iweb (that perhaps should be meant for that :D)
1) how to make a website multilanguage? maybe inserting html or any solution! It's impossible to think that you can't °_°!
2) how to customize a template? Mac templates are great, really, but even if i'm a lazy html programmer :P i'm skillfull with graphic tools and i will enjoy to replace the background and the header images and customizing the various graphical elements!
3)My header has some text, iweb reset it for every new page.. it whould be great to set a default, how to?
4) My header text is rasterized to an image, since I need the same header for all pages, will iweb rasterize it just once or it'll save a new jpg for every page slowing down the navigation???
Thank you very much if you're reading here and helping me!

Welcome to the Apple Discussions.
2) how to customize a template?
Unless you want to delve down into the application and edit themes there's no easy way to modify the themes. You can, however, start with blank page of some of the themes and modify them. But some, like Layered Paper or Darkroom use files with specfic dimensions that make it nearly impossible to modify the width or remove them from the page. Those themes that use a single file for the background (Formal) or a basic color (White, Black) are able to be customized as much as you want. The navbar font and color will remain the same unless you opt to create your own text based navbar.
3)My header has some text, iweb reset it for every new page... it whould be great to set a default, how to?
You can't. What you can do is create a new site and in that site create custom pages of each layout type for the theme you'll be using. Then when you need a new Welcome page duplicate the welcome page in the "Template" site and drag it up into your working site. Also send a feature request to Apple via http://www.apple.com/feedback/iweb.html.
4) My header text is rasterized to an image, since I need the same header for all pages, will iweb rasterize it just once or it'll save a new jpg for every page slowing down the navigation??
A new file will be added to each page. Each page is independent of the other as far as files that make up the page. Again, send a feature request.
Have you looked into site optimizers for making your site load faster? I use Web Site Maestro.
Also don't use MobileMe as your hosting server if you want to have a faster loading site. MMe is geared for social networking and has a lot of server overhead to handle the social networking aspects. User a commercial hosting server. It will be faster, more reliable and have actual ear-to-ear customer support.
Roddy's site, iWeb for Musicians, has lots of tips and tricks on making sites faster loading and more compatible with Internet Explorer. Look at the following pages on his site: SEO and iWeb. Lots of good information to take in there.

  • How Open source Flex looks to a mid level developer

Here is my response to a post Matt made on a blog:
    THe whole post:
    http://blog.simb.net/2009/01/19/take-flex-back-for-the-community/
    @Matt
1st off thanks, now my input:
The crux of your criticism seems to be that the process that we use for decision-making is closed its certainly not how we feel
Unfortuntly, this seems like a case of bad commuication by Adobe and the Flex team. If notable community experts get the impression of closed doors, then *certainly* the rest of us get this impression as well.
but there has been very little participation from the community so far
Im a solid dev, and not an expert but I can contribute in things such as testing and low level optimization; But, the Adobe open source site is a galactic disaster and discourages me from getting invloved. It has so many webpages that just go around in circles - filled with text that is verbose, this frustrates me to a great deal. As opposed to somehting straight foreward like:
    http://framework.zend.com/download/latest
    or
    http://code.google.com/p/papervision3d/
Everything is here and easily notable. I avoid the seamingly endless pages and confusion. If I want to get to the Flex dev mailing list I have to register, then choose the lists, add the lists to my account. go though my account prefs read some directions.. then set up some other preferences..jeeeezzzz. If I want to submit a feature request I am directed to create another login for some Bug and Issue management? HUH? I thought I was submitting a featue request.
Right on papervisions google HOME page I see Getting started > Papervision3D Mailing List.
Next when I finially do get to Flex SVN, this trunk. is nothing like I have seen.what IS all this stuff and where do I go to learn about it? There are countless subfolders filled with things I vaguely understand and if I want to learn what it is. where do I go? Is there even a src folder?
    Here is a classic example.
    Flex trunk Read Me:
    http://opensource.adobe.com/svn/opensource/flex/sdk/trunk/README.txt
    vs.
    Zend Trunk Read me:
    http://framework.zend.com/svn/framework/standard/trunk/README.txt
*What* is the Flex team thinking with this?
I just spent 5 minutes or so twirling through all these SVN directories and Adobes website and I am clueless. I feel like the project is unessarily complex and disorganized - even if it isnt. This just convinced me to delete my Flex sdk bookmark on my SVN client.
Adobe just lost one potential contributor to Flex SDK.
We have another idea that were bouncing around that I hope to share in a week or two but wont get into now.
Saying stuff like this is what gives people the impression of closed. Why not post these ideas the Flex team has? Even if it is stupid or incomplete
    Thats the whole point.

Wow, thanks for your response. This is great.<br /><br />I now understand that I had a combination of prejudice and ignorance  <br />when regarding Adobe Open Source. Perhaps my ignorance on these  <br />particulars is something that other devs encounter ( that whole  <br />perception thing ).   I have chatted with people who consider the Flex  <br />SDK and Flex Builder... not the same... but fused together so much  <br />that it'd be just crazy to try and use one with out the other   When I  <br />mention using Flex without Flex Builder.... people get that glazed  <br />over look in their eyes....( FYI I'm a FDT man, but am keeping a close  <br />eye on the new Flex Builder )<br /><br />I'll use Zend as an example ( it's the best that I can come up with )  <br />but I feel like there is a difference between the open source  <br />framework and Zend Studio ( commercial software ). Anyway, I'm really  <br />excited about how you've responded to all this.  I have more ideas,  <br />but Ill sit on them and think it through and get ready for next weeks  <br />meeting.<br /><br />Thanks,<br /><br />Alan<br /><br /><br />On Jan 23, 2009, at 1:31 AM, Matt Chotin wrote:<br /><br />> A new message was posted by Matt Chotin in<br />><br />> General Discussion --<br />>  How Open source Flex looks to a mid level developer<br />><br />> I've delayed responding to this because frankly I'm not sure what to  <br />> say for much of it.  The first thing I have to point out is that  <br />> many of the things you mention are related to Flex Builder and not  <br />> the Flex SDK, which is the part that is open source. • Row level security problem.

Hy all, I'm new to Oracle and though i've google it a lot I didn't manage to find a solution to this problem:
I'm using sql developer and Oracle 10g.
I have this two tables :
    CREATE TABLE HR_employees
(codHR NUMBER(3) CONSTRAINT pk_hr PRIMARY KEY,
    coddep NUMBER(4) not null,
    DB_user VARCHAR2(10),
    and
    CREATE TABLE Candid
(codcan NUMBER(2) CONSTRAINT PK_candidat PRIMARY KEY,
    codHr NUMBER(3) NOT NULL,
    CONSTRAINT FK_CODHR FOREIGN KEY (codHR) REFERENCES HR_employees (codHR) );
I tried to implement row level security on them by using two views:
CREATE OR REPLACE VIEW employees_v AS
    SELECT * FROM hr_employees
    WHERE DB_user = user
    UNION
    SELECT * FROM hr_employees
    WHERE codhr=(SELECT codhr FROM hr_employees WHERE db_user=user );
    AND coddep IN (4000,5000);
CREATE OR REPLACE VIEW candid_v AS
    SELECT cand.*
FROM candid cand , hr_employees hr
    WHERE cand.codhr= hr.codhr
    AND hr.db_user=user
    UNION
SELECT cand.* FROM candid cand, hr_employees hr
    WHERE hr.coddep=(SELECT H.coddep FROM hr_employees H
    WHERE H.db_user=user
    AND H.coddep IN (4000,5000) );
What I want to do is to disconnect and connect with another user from SQL Developer and see different fields based on the user and the department, Sql developer doesn't seem to recognize the user connected to the database..everytime I receive a no row selected statement, only when I connect with SYS and put the actual username WHERE H.db_user='SYS' they seem to work. I have created the tables with SYS and granted Select on the views to the users, the users don't have privilegies on the actual tables.
Sorry for the bad english,it's a foreign language to me ,
I hope you can help me

    Hi,
Damorgan is right: "Row level security has nothing to do with views" in the sense that the two are independent. You can have row-level security with or without views, and you can have views with or without row-level security. dbms_rls is a very useful and powerful way to implement row-level security, and you should check it out, but it's not necessarily the answer to all row-level security problems.
I'm not sure I understand your problem beyond the need to restrict user A's access to two tables.
If which rows user A is allowed to see depends on the results of queries from those same tables, including rows that user A is not allowed to see (that is, you need to do sub-queries with some other user's (let's call this user B's) privileges), then you can do those sub-queries in stored procedures.
Stored procuderes can run with the privileges of the procedure owner, regardless of who is calling them. Using a function called user_codhr owned by user B, you could define a view like this:
CREATE OR REPLACE VIEW employees_v AS
    SELECT * FROM hr_employees
    WHERE DB_user = user
    OR    (   codhr = user_codhr
          AND coddep IN (4000,5000)
);If the results of the function will be the same throughout the session, you can call it once, at the beginning of your session, and save the results in a SYS_CONTEXT varaible or a global temporary table.
If you need more help, post a more detailed example of the problem, such as "With this data in the table, B should see all rows but A should see only ...".

  • I have been exporting lightroom webgaleries to my iweb site without any problem.  Suddenly I get the error message "finder can't complete the operation because some data can't be read or written" - error code -36 - thoughts?

i have been exporting lightroom web galleries to my iweb site without any problem.  Suddenly I get the error message "finder can't complete the operation because some data can't be read or written" - error code -36 - and the move to the sites folder on my idisk fails..... thoughts?

Try this community: MobileMe on my Mac: MobileMe: Apple Support Communities.
And you can continue to use iWeb for some time to come. The following will explain:
It's now confirmed that iWeb and iDVD have been discontinued by Apple. This is evidenced by the fact that new Macs are shipping with iLife 11 installed but without iWeb and iDVD.
On June 30, 2012 MobileMe will be shutdown. HOWEVER, iWeb will still continue to work but without the following:
Features No Longer Available Once MobileMe is Discontinued:
    ◼ Password protection
    ◼ Blog and photo comments
    ◼ Blog search
    ◼ Hit counter
    ◼ MobileMe Gallery
All of these features can be replaced with 3rd party options.
I found that if I published my site to a folder on my hard drive and then uploaded with a 3rd party FTP client subscriptions to slideshows and the RSS feed were broken.  If I published directly from iWeb to the FPT server those two features continued to work correctly.
There's another problem and that's with iWeb's popup slideshows.  Once the MMe servers are no longer online the popup slideshow buttons will not display their images.
However, Roddy McKay and I have figured out a way to modify existing sites with those slideshows and iWeb itself so that those images will display as expected once MobileMe servers are gone.  How to is described in this tutorial: #26 - How to Modify iWeb So Popup Slideshows Will Work After MobileMe is Discontinued.
In addition the iLife suite of applications offered on disc is now a discontinued product and the remaining supported iApps will only be available thru the App Store from now on.
HOWEVER, the iLife 11 boxed version that is still currently available at the online Apple Store (Store button at the top of the page) and those copies still on the shelves of retailers will include iWeb and iDVD.

  • Re: Development problems

I've seen this sort of behaviour on two occasions.
The first is when the partition being started does not have enough memory
and rather than complain as you would normally expect simply grinds to a
halt. Its worth checking the ftexec and node manager log files to see if
    this is the case.
The second is when an ftexec process is being started for the first time
and the node upon which it is starting is very busy. Every now and then
the partition workshop will sit there with the ftexec pending with no
discernable activity going on. In this case I would normally expect an
exception after about 10-15 minutes. If I then attempt to re-run the
    application everything is normally fine.
We are currently running Forte 3.0.G.2 and we use sequent symmetry boxes
    for our server.
One other thing worth checking is whether it is the machine causing the
problem, or, the workspace you are running from. We have had some
interesting problems with a single workspace in a repository getting
completely confused, which, when integrated wipes out all the other
workspaces in the repository as they are updated.
    Good luck.

We recently started having problems running one of our applications fromthe
partition workshop in development, but it ONLY seems to be on one persons
machine. When running the application from this particular machine, it
appears to start running, but then just sort of goes off into lala land &
never dies or raises an exception or any sort of error. If we bring upthe
NT task manager, the ftexec seems to be getting cpu time for awhile, but
then it just stops getting cycles??
I had him create a new workspace(I was able to run the application on my
machine from his old workspace) which didn't matter. Other developers can
run the same application from their machines too?? We have NT 4.0 clients
running Forte 3.0.J.1 & a the rpserver is running on Digital Unix 4.0.D.Any

    Douglas,
    I concur with Len. Try trc:os:1:1 and 5:5. I suspect that it's a
memory problem, especially if the same workspace works on other
    machines.

  • IWeb 08 Podcast/RSS problems

Yup, iWeb has shot my podcast...
I will post discoveries here as I learn them. Will be grateful for any help, of course!!!
Still coming to grips with new file names/locations. First thing is iWeb seems to be dealing with spaces differently now. Previously it did the old %20 thing in my podcast - Popology Podcast read Popology%20Podcast. Now, it's replaced that with an underscore - Popology_Podcast. However, it doesn't seem to have occured to the code monkeys to tell whatever generates the rss.xml file that! A manual edit of the rss.xml file doesn't help either.
I'm using feedburner, so I've changed it there, and it's starting to kick into gear, though it isn't seeing the podcast images...
More to come as I discover it.
Again - please - any advice most appreciated - and if I've gotten anything wrong so far, please put me straight! I'm just a Joe-Bloggs, not a super-web-guy...

My podcast's address, as seen in iTunes music store is:
    http://rss.mac.com/popology/iWeb/Popology/Popology%20Podcast/rss.xml
But according to iWeb's new way of dealing with spaces, this should now have an underscore instead of a %20.
    http://rss.mac.com/popology/iWeb/Popology/Popology_Podcast/rss.xml
I've tried avoiding the problem by entering my feedburner address into the rss.xml file...
    <itunes:new-feed-url>http://feeds.feedburner.com/popology</itunes:new-feed-url>
But that didn't work. I've pinged my podcast, and when I search for it in the music store, delete and resubscribe, it still doesn't pick up that it should go to the feedburner feed.
QUESTION: Am I editing the wrong file - rss.xml - in my podcast directory? This seems to be a new location - till I upgraded, the RSS files were in a seperate folder (up a few levels on my idisk) altogether, but there's nothing there now...?
I'm considering trying to remove the space in the original iWeb design on my comp and reuploading... 128k upstream... hmm - that will take a while...

Reinstall iWeb from the source you got it from originallhy.  Or, if you're running iWeb 3 download and apply or reapply the iWeb 3.0.4 updater. It included that plugin.

    Hi,
I downloaded and installed the developer suite 10.1.2. When I launched Forms builder I received the message, 'Oracle Forms Designer has encountered a problem and needs to close. • Gary level gradient problems !!!

    Hi,guys!
I have a problems with gary level gradient effect! Like the image below. It have stripes. Not smooth transition. And is it a technical problems? Can't be solved? If it can't be solved,is any ways to change it better, like encoder format, some parameters. If it is my false and it can be solved, what should I do?
    Hope someone help me,THKS!!!

If you are going to have very slight color differences in a gradient then your best option is to tint the dark toward something like blue and the brighter toward orange just slightly so that the bands break up between the r g and b channels. Then you add some noise. It doesn't matter what kind of display you have if you compress your video for delivery using an mpeg format like h.264 because that is an 8 bit codec so color artifacts will show up. Noise is your friend and unequal rgb values for each channel are also your friend so you can break up the differences between the channels in more steps. The biggest problem with digital displays is that all color values are quantified so you have to learn to work with your design to minimize problems.
I hope you understand what I am saying. A gradient with RGB values of 2, 4, and 9 at one end blending to 22, 35 and 19 at the other end are going to have a lot more bands in the image than a gradient that moves all values up 10 or 15 points equally because the banding in red is going to be in a different position than the banding in blue and so on. This helps hide the banding and also improves the chances that compressing to mp4 for delivery will build up fewer blocky color artifacts.
Another trick is to use a feathered mask on a solid color as an overlay on an image that has a texture. Something simple like rice paper or even a fractal with a blended (multiply blend mode) dark overlay with a feathered mask will work much better than a simple gradient background.

  • Aggregation level activation problem

    Hello experts.
I have a problem with activation of aggregation level with abap program. When I debug the program i saw error like 'BWTK907074 BEX report is unavailable.' . Its a request code. Now i dont know how to pass this step and activate aggregation level.

About a month ago, for no apparent reason, most the comments on my blog page disappeared. Called Apple, very sympathetic, couple of emails saying they were working on the problem and for the last 3 weeks, nothing. I know the migration from .mac to mobileme caused a lot of issues, most of which are resolved. Right now, my website works perfectly on Safari, photo albums, music files all work great. However on Firefox v3.01, the comments on my blog page do not appear, plus it takes a good minute before the page loads and then I get that type error message. I can access the comments when I log in to the site, but to a visitor there is nothing there. I have noticed a lot of the posts say "publish all to .mac, but I am very hesitant to do this. When I had my original problem, the tech from Apple said try the publish all and I did and the one day of comments that still showed, disappeared. Any ideas?

  • Middle mouse button problem after arch update

    Dear Arch Users,
I have a very strange problem in xfce4 with middle mouse button after arch linux update. It is especially annoying in firefox. Earlier, the middle button just opened a new tab (in firefox) now it also tryies to go back everywhere it can... So, when I am on a some site, I try to open some link by middle button click, it is opened in a new tab - OK, but the firefox goes also to the previos site on a current tab - it is terrible...
    I am using xfce 4.8.0 and xorg 1.9.5 (RC1).
    Cheers,
    alamakot

Thanks for the reply. It was by default set to true, but I have tried with false and the situation is the same... So, another hints please;-)
    Cheers,
    alamakot.

  • Same condition type on header and item level = printing problem

    Hi
I have a customer using some condition types on both item level and header level in quotations, orders, invoices ...
In the pricing procedures it is customized (V_T683S-DRUKZ) that the conditions must be printed on header level (that is at the bottom of the documents).
My job is to make the Smartform to print the documents, and I want it of course to be as close to SAP standard as possible.
SAP standard will print these conditions on header level even if the conditions are at item level, but my customer wants the conditions created on header level to be printed on header level and conditions created on item level to be printed on item level.
I'm no pricing expert, so my question is:
Will it be fair if I tell the customer that using the same condition types on header and item level is bad practices - or at least bad karma?
    Best regards
    Thomas Madsen Nielsen

    Hi Shiva Ram and Madhu
I have no problem understanding header vs. item conditions, so I really don't see anything in oss note 876617, that is relevant in this case.
Madhu - I do not agree that everything is fine. My issue is that I want to stick as closely to SAP standard customizing as possible. In SAP standard customizing of a condition type you can use the flag V_T683S-DRUKZ to determine if the condition should be printed on header OR item level - you can not choose both header AND item level.
I have a SAP standard smartform using two functions modules for reading header and item conditions. RV_PRICE_PRINT_ITEM and RV_PRICE_PRINT_HEAD. These function modules are based on the DRUKZ customizing flag and a condition marked for printing on header level will be supplied by RV_PRICE_PRINT_HEAD even when the condition is on item level.
My point is: SAP standard customizing does not support printing of same condition on both header and item level. I can of course write tons of code to work around this problem, but that would be bad practices

  • Iweb, personal domain, CNAME problems

    Hi,
We have the following problem, no assistance being provided from .dotmac (2 days, 3 days - 2 requests).
    Symptoms:
    we have followed apple's instructions:
    1) Ensuring that we have a proper domain name (www.xxx.com.au)
    2) Ensuring that we have created a CNAME alias (www.xxx.com.au -> web.mac.com)
    3) Associating the name www.xxx.com.au as our personal domain
    4) Allowed more than 48 hrs
    5) Publishing to the website which works okay (ww.xxx.com.au via the latest release of iWeb which supports personal domains). (Iweb shows [email protected] www.xxx.com.au at the bottom of the window). Files are in subdirectory idisk web/Sites/XXX.
All that has happened so far is that when you type in www.xxx.com.au in a browser window, you see a redirection to web.mac.com and then to http://www.apple.com/dotmac.
More interesting is when you log into .mac ([email protected]) and check the account settings -> personal domain you see www.xxx.com.au listed and when you click on it you see a redirection to web.mac.com and then to http://www.apple.com/dotmac.
Further interesting effects occur when you log into .mac ([email protected]) and check My Pages, any of the pages (ie "About Us" redirects to http://www.xxx.com.au/XXX/About_Us.html and then to http://www.mac.com/account_error.html. (Apples "I'm sorry page").

  • IWeb & Rage SEO Tool Problem

I've created some nice sites with iWeb but Rage's SEO Tool is corrupting the test. Once SEO Tool republishes them I'm getting diamonds with ? marks instead of apostrophies and bullets. Also when I publish with SEO Tool when entering the path it says "directory already exists." So I can force the new files in with FTP Fetch but the fonts are still messed up.

This doesn't sound like a font problem, it sounds like something is being removed from your website that shouldn't be. Specifically the meta content type tag.
    What is your website URL?
Also the error you are getting fro the directory already exists means that you didn't enter your root directory path correctly. Email your web host and ask them what your root directory path is and enter what they give you.
