IWeb mobile site won't work

I published an iWeb website and when I try to visit it on my iPhone, the phone automatically redirects the URL to "m.websitename.com" (even if I delete the m.) and then shows a message of "We are sorry, there is no such site.". I haven't found anything on iWeb about mobile sites, so I'm not sure why the mobile device won't just visit the normal site.

Contact your host's tech support and ask them if they have a redirect on the server.
Now that having a mobile version of your site is essential if you are in business, its usually set up as a sub domain with the prefix "m." or "mobile."
Most hosting services allow us to decide which method, if any, to use to direct mobile visitors to the appropriate version of the site. Some have obviously decided to do it for us using either .htaccess or a server side script!
Maybe you should leave it in place and take this as a strong hint to create a mobile compatible version of your site. It is possible to do this using iWeb if you think about it.

My chosen site won't work with fp11. I need to revert to a fp10. I doubt I can copy and navigate lines of text and symbols to remove something completely and try to see what choice to use to replace it, and ever suceeed.

  • IWeb, mobile sites, redirection...

I'm working on this website http://www.davidpaulcarr.com using iWeb.
I have also been playing with making a separate site for mobile devices which can be seen here http://davidpaulcarr.wayma.com .
The idea, ultimately, is to add .3gp "light" versions of the flash content that is on the main website to a mobile one so that visitors using devices unable to use flash can access at least some of the main content (I hope that's clear!).
There are various things I would like to do -
    1) Redirect visitors using mobile devices to a separate site adapted to their needs.
    2) Not use wayma.com (or a similar service) to make this mobile website - the functions are very limited, the default font is ugly and I can't get it to echo the design of the main website. Ideally, I would build the mobile site myself, using iWeb again.
    My questions -
    1) How to redirect visitors using mobile devices ? (I posted recently on a similar topic, followed up the leads but didn't get anything that worked).
    2) Is it possible to make a mobile site myself in iWeb and host it on my server? I suppose there are optimal page and font sizes, for a start...
Any advice will be gratefully received. Please bear in mind that I have limited html skills, slowly learning what I need as I go along...

    Thanks for your reply!
I was familiar with that thread and had added the Chris Bailey (modified) code to the appropriate page.
I then - on the basis that my iPod touch would be recognized the same way as an iPhone (which I don't posess) - accessed the page but was not redirected, so I assumed the code wasn't working.
Perhaps accessing from an iPod Touch isn't the same as accessing from an iPhone, I don't know...
Anyway, I think I'm looking for a more global redirection solution that would work for smartphones, Blackberrys, anything with a big enough screen to usefully view my content...
Any ideas about page size and fonts ? (and more generally whether I can use iWeb to cobble together a mobile website)...

  • Entire site won't work on home network...?

    Searched.
My website www.renuauto.com won't work at all on my home network. I tried multiple computers and none of them will load the page.
Switch to a neighbors network on the same computer, and it loads right up.
    Strange?

Not sure what you mean by not working for 97% of the world.
I can see it with IE6 / FF on windows xp - but it is very
    wide and the
image is off to the right.
    <!--DWLayoutTable-->
    <tr bgcolor="#FFFFFF">
    <td width="945" height="503" align="center"
    valign="middle"><div
    ....................^^^
and its because of that width - try it set to 800px.
But its's difficult looking at the code as you are using
    frames !!! ??
    . Not recommended around here.
As you say looks like you patched code from many sources and
    you have
inline CSS in more than one frame so again difficult to
    decipher - and
it will be difficult to maintain.
The experts here may well say through away frames and use
    css, but
they may be a leap too far - so why not use tables as an
    interim step.
move all the css to external style sheets
as it is a commercial site - surely it would be much better
    to host it
on a server with it's domain name rather than redirecting,
    this would
    make things much easier.
There is very little text for the search engines to use.
    Would it not
be a good idea for some copy stating what the business is
    about, where
you are etc etc - rather than just have a
oh and although the sound has gone on Firefox, it is still
    there with
    IE6.
    Hope some of that helps

  • Site won't work in FireFox

    Hi Everyone,
I normally wouldn't ask something like this, but I've tried so many things and can't figure it out.
A friend sent me her website because it won't work in FireFox, but does in every other browser.
    Here is the site:
    www.milanmoffatt.com/dinnerwithstrangers
I've looked pretty intensely at it, but I'm not a coding Guru.  I can't see anything that would make it work in Chrome, Safari, Opera, IE but not FireFox.
It looks like FF just won't recognize the style sheet, but it's being called correctly as far as I know.
    Thanks

There are some errors in the html shown in the validator here: http://validator.w3.org/
If it's still not working after repairing them, we can take a closer look.

  • Help! Some sections of my Muse Site won't work after upload

It's really frustrating and I don't know why it doesn't work I have checked everything and anything, all links!
The website works perfectly fine on my computer, but as soon as I upload the site, some section won't work.
'Home' and 'Das Grill-Center' work just finde, but 'Speisekarte', 'Kontakt' and 'Impressum' don't work. When I click on the link it always says:
    "Not Found
The requested URL /index.php was not found on this server."
    the sites name:
    www.grill-center-bruehl.de
I have noticed that if I search online for the direct link http://www.grill-center-bruehl.de/dasgrillcenter.html it comes up (that is the part that works). The direct link http://www.grill-center-bruehl.de/speisekarte.html doesn't work. but the html site is definately uploaded
I am so helpful for any help!
    Chris

It looks like you were able to figure this out.
    Thanks,

  • Muse mobile site won't pinch or zoom on iPhone?

I cannot manage to get the iphone muse site I have created to zoom in, it will scroll down and up, but say I want to zoom in to read something up close it won't work.
If anyone can advise on this that would be great. The normal site on the web works fine but table and phone won't.

    @Zak Williamson
I found out what was causing the problem. I disabled the Parallax scrolling effects and the pinch and zoom started working.

  • Changed the name of "home" now site won't work

hi. I changed my home page. What i did was make a duplicate, then deleted the original home folder, then renamed the duplicate to 'home'. (it won't allow me to use a cap "H" though)
I had the site masked and forwarded via Godaddy, and now my domain will not work. If i publish and visit, the site is fine, here it is http://web.me.com/coutroulis/Nikos_site/home.html
and the linked domain, is www.coutroulis.com
    (which doesn't work)
    any help would be great
    thanks

never mind, seems to have magically fixed itself

  • Iweb photo page won't work in IE6?

When my site is published to a folder, photo page and album page work brilliantly in Safari on a Mac but will not display in IE6 on a PC. Any idea why or how to cure this? The latest version of java script is loaded on the pc's. Any idea why or how to cure this?

    Jeff:
You need to find the icons for Firefox and Safari on the internet and download them. Try at the sites I list below. Then use the following URLs in a text link (I also linked the Safari and FF icons).
    For FireFox 3 : http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all.html
    For FireFox 2: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html
    For Safari: http://www.apple.com/safari/

Blogger has supported mobile version webview. When using Firefox android browsing blogger, the images are not resize to smaller ones.
    As image below:

Firefox for android, the image won't resize to smaller one, but other browsers do.

This is likely a problem with the data blogger sends to Firefox. You can log a bug report at https://webcompat.com/ and technical people will do some diagnosis of the issue.

  • IWeb '08 Site won't display right on PPC machine

    Hey all,
I'm having a very strange problem with my new website. After I published the site with my MacBook everything looked great in my browser (Safari and Firefox). However later todat I visited my site from my desktop Power Mac G5... The site would not load correctly. Just to check, I visited the site from my Father's Mac Pro... The site loaded beautifully. I then tried the site on my Mother's old 12'' PowerBook G4... No dice.
What could be causing the problems with PowerPC machines?
    The site is www.reydigital.com
Check it out and let me know if it's working on your machines.
    Cheers- George

George ~ It works on a MacBook Pro Core Duo, but all the Flash animations make the CPU work at 90%. My guess is that there is simply too much processing for a PowerPC Mac. Click on the thumbnail below to see the CPU history from Activity Monitor:

  • Qt on different sites won't work

I have down loaded the new qt player with itunes,(had old version of qt). I try to go the this site, http://harrypotter.warnerbros.com/main/homepage/home.html
or any of the warner bros. sites, and I get a question mark over the Q. I have looked up other answers on here. is the problem with my computer or what?

On the Mac platform the issue is sometimes caused by a QuickTime plug-in. QT 7 now installs two.
They are installed (again, I'm using a Mac) in the root directory in a folder called Internet Plug-Ins. The same is probably true on a PC (mine is currently not working so I can't tell you the exact location).
The offending plug-in is named QuickTime Plugin.webplugin. If you can move it to a different location (Desktop) and relaunch the browser the page may work without the question mark.
Do a search and move the file. Don't delete it and note its location so you can put it back if needed.

It says that it will be back soon and I should check later however I have no access to my music and I would like to get my premium membership back, if anyone could help me with this issue it would be greatly appreciated. Much thanks.

You cannot restore an iPhone that is not on the latest version if iOS. If you try it will first update to the latest version.
