IWeb Movie Page Crashes- Help

Hey All,
I receently added a 2nd movie to the "movie" page of my iWeb. Now when I go into iWeb and selct that movie page, iWeb completey shuts down and crashes and it prompts me to send a report to Apple.
Can anyone tell me what's wrong or an altertnate way to delete the page rather than through selecting it and then selecting edit- delete (I can't even get in to do it that way).
Please help as this has completely made this page uneditable.
Thanks

Verbal...
something about the movie you've just added is causing the program to crash.
follow this path...
hard disk/users/username/library/application support/iWeb/Domain
This is the file that all of your iWeb data is actually stored in (and the file you want to back up if you ever need to recover from a crash)
Open this file by holding down the control key and clicking on it once. You'll see a window pop up, select "show package contents"
A new folder window will appear with all of your DOMAIN file contents in it. Go find the name of the movie you've just added and drag it to the desktop.
While you're inside the domain file, find a file that says "assets.yourusername.plist" and throw it away. This file sometimes causes crashes and publishing problems if it get's corrupted, iWeb will rewrite a new one the next time you open the program.
Close the domain file and reopen iWeb. You should be good to go.

  • IWeb movie pages, when published -- no movies

my iWeb movie pages, when published, came up lame, no movies, only areas where the movies should have been, all with faint Q's with question marks inside them
LONG STORY SHORT, MAKE SURE YOUR MOVIES (as well as being located in your MAC HD and its proper MOVIE sidebar, that you CUT AND PASTE all your MEDIA YOU'RE USING IN YOUR iWeb SITE,
CUT AND PASTE PHOTOS, MOVIES in dupe form right into your desktop where you've published your iWEB site folder.......that way, any browser, a .mac or outside web host, can locate your media better so that you don't get GHOST MEDIA PUBLISHING LIKE I DID...hopefully this will help both of us
ALSO, in any iWeb website (named SITE in your desktop, or iDisc, or whatever or wherever you publish it, or even if you can find where on earth on your HD it is published, remember, if you have any MEDIA at all, NOTE IN MY CASE MEDIA MEANS MOVIES (not photos, so I'm not speaking to the photo blogs people, only iWeb MOVIE folks) anyway, all the compressed poetry video clips are right there, in a separate folder called MEDIA, that is every iWeb site, when published to .mac or a folder, which contains movies in .mp4 format or .mov format, all these will appear right in your site's MEDIA FOLDER....
this is important as a concept....
also, if you're using an outside web host like me (so that all my movies will LOAD QUICKLY), don't forget when FTP'ing (file transfer protocol'ing) your iWeb changes to your web host from your original MAC HD folder....remember to also send to the FTP/outside web host your MEDIA folder inside your SITE
(which i only realized a couple hours ago, and which totally was a revelation, so i'm passing it along to you guys)....
if you'd like to know exactly what i do here in nyc, i video the poetry scene, now for 20 years, and create educational poetry DVDs.... and my website is today's equivalant of operating a virtual business.....
....oh-oh, since I video poetry in NYC and go direct into a standalone DVD recorder to make single tracks of each poem...and then through Popcorn's mp4 program, I can make a movie file
then..through QuickTime Pro's streaming compression system, reduce that file size to under 5 MBs,
well, after lots of headaches, i am able to have 200 streaming video clips on an iWeb site, which apple itself said was impossible, that iWeb was only geared for less ambitious projects
okay, so that is cool..until yesterday, when i began the whole process again with completely new poetry video clips....
first, the iWeb pages were designed correctly...that took time....then i published the new pages to .mac, and only some of the movies showed up on the published pages, some had a big bright Q (which means the browser identifies the movie and will within 20 seconds load that movie), but what wracked my brain all day and night yesterday, why were there areas where the browser only showed the faint Q/Question mark inside (meaning the browser cannot find the movie)
    so what the.....!
also i'm going from an iWed Folder to an FTP so I can use an outside web host and bypass THE MUCH SLOWER .mac browser (too slow when using movie clips for visitor to your site having to wait valuable seconds for **** movie to appear...with outside web host process almost immediate)
    .....any similar experiences?

I am having the same problem.
Now I am using iWeb 2.03. So when I uploaded the site to my server I see the Media folder you were talking about, and the videos are there. But when I go to the website I still get the faint Q with the question mark.
    Here is my site. http://mnorland.dadeschools.net
The videos are supposed to be in the Athletics page, then go to football highlights.
    Any help would be appreciated.

  • Compressing for iweb movie page

My 5 min. QT movie is too big to put on the movie page template in my iweb page. Any idea what settings I should use in Compressor to fit iweb's recommendation of a QT file not being over 10MB? The original file is about 1G and when I drag it into my movie folder and from there to the iweb movie page template is converts it to 1024MB...still too big. Can I use a Compressor setting to get it under 10MB and still have reasonable quality?
    Thanks,
    Nina

For my iWeb site, I normally use the iPhone preset in Compressor. On occasion I'll use settings similar to what Vimeo recommends for their site.

  • IWeb movie page causes Safari crash - Why?

I'm trying to post a very simple movie page using a .mov generated by quicktime. iWeb uploads the page -it's there; I've checked - but Safari won't display the movie. If I try reloading the page Safari crashes. The movie is about 20MB.
I'm using iWeb 2.0.2 and Safari 3.0.3. What am I doing wrong?

You could try downloading the movie in another browser such as Firefox to see if the problem is with the movie or Safari. Get it here....
    http://en.www.mozilla.com/en/firefox/
If it crashes Firefox then you'll have to look at the movie file.
If it doesn't you can try resetting or reinstalling Safari.

  • Quiktime Movie pages crash server

Anyone else seen problems on a server with movie pages created with iWeb and viewed with a Windows XP system?
On our old workhorse Appleshare IP server 6.3 any pages with Quicktime movies crash the server when viewed from an XP system. On a Mac they work fine. Unfortunately there is no errors in the server log once you get the server restarted.
The XP systems can view the other pages just fine but when they make a request for a movie page IE in XP freeezes and the server chokes and dies.

Well we are just going to give up and us our Xserve to host the internal site instead. We did more testing and out of 5 XP systems we have tested, 2 cause the server to crash. They all appear to have the same IE and QT versions. (IE 6.02 and QT 7.0.3)
We just don't have the time to keep trouble shooting this. It is not a mission critical thing and it will be less hassle to move the site. It is just to bad that a browser can crash the whole server, but it is old server software and probably well past its prime. Later I might test to see if it something with the iWeb generated html or just Quicktime 7 plug-in html in general.
    Thanks

  • Action Cam Movie Creator Crashing HELP!

I am running on Windows 8.1 and every time I go to load a clip into Action Cam Movie Creator it gives me an error saying the program has stopped working and shuts it down. Please help, NO videos can be edited...

    Hi blimfitpro,
    Welcome to the Sony Community!
If the Action Cam Movie Creator is now working properly, we suggest closing the program and restarting your computer. And if this does not resolve the issue, uninstall the program, restart your PC and reinstall ACMC again.
If my post answers your question, please mark it as "Accept as Solution". Thanks_Mitch

  • Can't control the icon iweb generates on iweb gallery album and movie page

Okay - here's the problem. I make a great imovie - share it to the .mac web gallery and imovie sets the icon and I don't seem to have any control over the image it displays. It seems to take part of a screen shot of the first few seconds of the movie but I want to change what is displayed and can't figure out how to determine what image is used for the icon of the movie on the iweb gallery page. I have several movies on the page and want to have a logo displayed - not part of the logo. You can see my frustration at calldrew.com and click on the link for iweb pictures and movies. Thanks so much for any help!

Now I haven't actually tried it but I'm guessin you want to modify the 'poster.jpg' file located in your idisk/Web/Sites/_gallery/xxxxx

  • IWeb application keeps crashing during my Mobileme publish....PLEASE HELP!!

    Hey everyone,
I am in some serious need of some help. If anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated. I have been using iWeb for about 5 months now and have never had any problems uploading to Mobileme. Just recently, after creating an elaborate website for my Miami HEAT clientele, iWeb has been crashing during my publish to Mobileme through the iWeb application. Through reading some different discussions, I have figured out that my domain file under the Application Support folder is corrupted. I know this because when I drag that domain (with all my website content) to the desktop and re-start iWeb, a new domain is created and successfully publishes. I am now in need of figuring out how to copy all my website content from my old corrupted domain to this new freshly made one....the bottom line; I would like to avoid having to re-create my entire website from scratch on this new domain...Roddy mentioned being able to copy and paste, but after exploring some I have not been able to figure out how to do this.
I also tried to upload to a folder and then dragging all the files to Cyberduck, but it takes ALL DAY to do and never completes uploading...
I don't want to pay $50 for the 30 day Applecare for phone tech support to only hear that I will inevitably have to re-create my entire site...
Can anyone help? I have clientele that have been hassling me to get their pictures online...please help.

The posters here are right. Cutting and pasting may take a bit of time if you have a lot of pages (as I did a year ago) but it's better than rewriting code or retyping pages. As of '08 Apple didn't have any server backup capability of published iweb sites, so it is up to the user to do it.
I have four sequential backups of my Domain file. I backup to 2 locations each day, that way if a batch goes bad, I only lose a day's work at most; in addition, the chances of 2 backups and the original going bad at one time are remote.
Just last week my Domain file became corrupted. Just wouldn't publish and received an error message. In 10 seconds I clicked on a recent backup and it worked fine. Go figure?! So I dragged the main bad Domain file to the trash, dragged the working copy from the external hard drive to the Library, and voila...back in business.
The message is backup, backup, backup, especially when your business web site is at stake.

  • Pages crashes on start-up every time - please help!

About an hour ago Pages crashed (spinning beach ball) while I was working on a document. I had to force-quit. When I tried to re-open, the splash screen didn't appear and it became unresponsive. I had to force-quit again.
These are the troubleshooting steps I've followed:
    1. Restart
    2. Delete Pages preference files
    3. Repair permissions and clean system, local and user font caches
    4. Check for corrupted fonts (I use FontExplorer X Pro, a professional font management program, for these last two steps)
    5. Completely delete iWork (using AppDelete) from my computer, and reinstall from disk
After all of those steps, Pages still hangs at start-up. I'm out of ideas.
Keynote and Numbers work perfectly, as do other word processing apps like TextEdit and MS Word.
    Can you help?

I restarted in Safe Boot mode and opened Pages. It seemed to work fine. After restarting to my user account, Pages opened without a problem. I guess some caches that were corrupted got recreated.

  • Export to Quicktime movie continued crashes. HELP

I have sequence, it renders no problem. Whenever I go to export to Quicktime movie it crashes. I have gone and deleted all files associated with it and redone the sequence from scratch, and I keep getting the same results. Crash while exporting. I am working in DV, so all I do at export is export to Quicktime movie, which means it should be exporting as a DV movie. I am not sure what is wrong please help.
As always thanks in advance for reading and replying to my Post,
    Sebastian

I did try burning the 18.05GB file on i-DVD but even with the auto compression of i-DVD it only managed to compress it down to 5.4GB - too large for my 4.7GB DVD.
The only reason I need to burn it so my friend can author it is that he's a little too fussy and wants to author it on Adobe Encore.
I managed to get a firewire drive - but the blooming PC didnt accept it as it was Mac formated!
I just exported the original file as a QT movie, reducing sound quality, frame rate etc but it still comes out at 17.5GB - still to large for i-DVD (and thats with i-DVD's compression, which comes in at approx 5GB!)
I really really blame myself for this as I never really looked into anything more than the creative aspect of FCP. But I've started now.

  • Rented movies cause itunes to crash - help please

When I try to play a rented movie, itunes crashes and I get the error message 'iTunes has stopped working'. According to the log, the error is caused by QuickTimeH264.qtx
Using the latest versions of iTunes and Quicktime. I've tried deleting the SC Info folder as suggested on another post, but no luck.
This happened a few weeks ago and after trying various things it seemed to fix itself and the movie played fine. Since then I've watched two movies with no issues. Then tonight, back to the same problem.
It's particularly frustrating as the 48 countdown has started even though the movie crashed right away.

On sugestion from Apple, I've uninstalled quicktime and reinstalled from a new download and the problem has gone.

  • My cursor isn't working on Firefox so I can't scroll down - I must manually hold vertical bar to move page - I've already tried troubleshooting - helped temporarily, but still problem now - cursor otherwise works on other servers

My cursor isn't working on Firefox, so I can't scroll down - I must manually hold the vertical bar to move page.

I have had this nagging problem several times. Each time more frustrating than the last.
'''PDF''''s. If you have a .pdf page open in Firefox (as often happens when looking at brochures and whatnot from websites) the mousepad side scroll function will not work. Plugging in an external usb device works just fine, making the situation that much more aggravating.
Simply close any windows or tabs from Firefox that are displaying .pdf's, and the blood pressure "should" return to normal values. If your blood pressure doesn't return to a satisfactory value, see your family doctor. He'll probably ensure your continued trust in Firefox is still better than any experience with explor.er.

  • IWeb 09, Pages 09, and Keynote 09 can't load iPhoto images in media browser

Ever since yesterday, my iWeb 09, Pages 09, and Keynote 09 have been experiencing problems loading iPhoto 09 images in the media browser. I have no problems loading my audio files, movie files, and widgets, but when it comes to iPhoto picture files, the system just hangs. Luckily, it doesn't crash; it just says "Loading iPhoto images" forever.
I'm guessing that the problem is with iPhoto 09, because the media browser has no problems loading my Aperture picture files.
Does anyone have any ideas how I can get iWeb, Pages, and Keynote to load my iPhoto pics in the media browser?
    Thanks!

    1. Quit iPhoto.
    2. Go to your Pictures Folder (or where ever you have your Library) and find the iPhoto Library there (Your Donor Library).
    3. Right Click on it, and from the resulting menu select ‘Show Package Contents’. A Finder window will open and the Library will be exposed.
    4. Find the following files
    AlbumData.xml
    AlbumData2.xml
and move them to the desktop.
    5. Close up the Library and restart iPhoto. This will force iPhoto to rebuild those files which are key to sharing.
Then restart the other apps and see does that help.
By the way: where is your Library? On the Start Up Disk? On an external?
    Regards
    TD
