IWeb Navbar widget

Hi All
My nav bar works fine on my mac but when previewed with IE i get a warnings about running scripts and blocked content, even if i allow blocked content i end up with no navigation menu. Is there a iweb fix or is it just microsoft again?

This is primarily to do with Internet Explorer.
Your solution is to hide the page template navigation bars and build your own text based nav bar and this will not happen. Open the Inspector in iWeb and go to Page and then click on hide nav bar and show page in nav bar and then go about creating your own nav bar using text boxes or shapes etc. Once finished - don't forget to hyperlink to your pages too, you can place it anywhere on your page, top, bottom, sides etc.

  • IWeb RSS Widget Clone for non RSS?

I love the iWeb RSS Widget for displaying information. Does anyone know how to clone it so that you can use it with your own content that is not an RSS feed. I would love to repurpose it for use to display paragraphs of info on my site, without having to have it say loading and load the fake rss feed.
    Thanks!

I think it's impossible. But you can display your own content in an RSS feed, it's easy to create your own RSS feed with a text editor : http://www.make-rss-feeds.com/making-an-rss-feed.htm .
And if you find it too complicated, you can use a software like [Feeder|http://reinventedsoftware.com/feeder>.

  • Dreamweaver Navbar Widget??

Will DW ever be putting in a CSS navbar widget or JS navbar. It seems so ridiculous that there is all this stuff and no way other than to use an unordered list and reformat the thing such a waste of time. Muse has one and it's great!

I can't speak for the DW engineers because I don't know.  In the meantime..

  • Why can't I get my iWeb '09 widgets to publish?

Why can't I get my iWeb '09 widgets to publish? None of them appear on my published site, just when it's unpublished.
I'm using an FTP server, and my domain name is parked on GoDaddy.com.
    Any ideas?
    Thank you.

What's the URL of your site so we can examine it first hand? While viewing the site in Safari type CommandOptionA to bring up the Activity window for the site. It will list all of the files for the site and those that are missing will be marked "not found".
If there are any missing then your ftp client is not uploading all of the files. Are you using iWeb's built in ftp client? If so try publishing to a folder on the hard drive where you can first test the site with your browser before uploading to the server. Then use a 3rd party ftp client like the free Cyberduck to upload your files.

  • IWeb -MobileMe widget flash alternative?

I use an iMac and use iWeb to create and manage my website - it is great.  I use the MobileMe widget to have photos scrolling on my page automatically - very nice... unfortunately if a visitor views my website with an iPhone or an iPad ("the ultimate browsing machine") they cannot see this because their Apple device does not support Flash (yes I read:  http://www.apple.com/hotnews/thoughts-on-flash).  So where is the support for the heralded HTML5 in this MobileMe widget?  What is the alternative to accomplish the rolling photos so that iPhone and iPad viewers can see the content?   www.chriskopf.com.   Thanks, Chris.

  • IWeb Web Widget Power

Alright so I searched and didn't really find a direct answer to my question so I figured I would add it myself as my first post.
I am creating my first webpage with iWeb and want to place a web widget like the ones I make out of safari. For example I have a widget in my dashboard that shows my Halo 3 profile stats. Is there any way to get that widget into my iWeb page?

It can be done, but you have to know how to get the data from dashboard's web clips.
It's not very straight forward, some dashboard widgets (not all) can be modified to use in a web page, have a look - the bottom three are from my web clips:

  • IWeb '09 Widgets Not Responding?

So I just recently upgraded to iLife '09 and every thing's working great except for the widgets in iWeb. I was trying to use the HTML snippet, and instead of the little box that pops up to put the actual code in, I had an empty box on the screen that didn't do anything no matter how many times I clicked on it.
I searched around and wasn't able to find anything related. Any ideas?

The solution to the problem was that iWeb had to be installed in the actual applications folder and not in a sub folder labeled iLife '09.
    Thanks anyway!!

  • IWeb 08 Navbar

    Hiya
I have a website built using iweb 08 and a forum using the phpBB3 software. I am trying to create a bespoke look for my phpBB forum and wanted to put the iWeb navbar at the top of the page. I have exported the first page as a html file but wanted to know if anyone can help me identify which part of the code I need to copy across to the phpBB files.
    Thanks
    M

    M:
The navbar is java based and the code is located in the Site/Scripts/Widgets/Navbar folder in a file named, surprisingly enough, navbar.js. How you would apply or place that is beyond me. But Cyclosaurus, who's the most knowledgeable java script person here, may be able to describe how to apply that.
A low tech method would be to build a text based navbar like in this demo page.

  • Twitter Widget for iWeb not working

Sorry if this answer has already been asked. I am creating a website using iWeb. I wanted to add my twitter account to it so I went to Twitter and went through their widget maker, customized it, copied the html code, pasted in the iWeb html widget box, and it worked great. Now, all of the sudden none of my twitter account widgets are working in iWeb. Anyone else having this problem?
    Thanks,
    J

    Yes, I said that :
Sometimes you have to imagine that you see it in iWeb.
Here's how it looks in iWeb :
And here's how it looks in the published page.

As I said. you have to imagine that you see it.

  • My iweb widgets come up as blank boxes. How can i fix this?

Every time I insert a iWeb 09 widget on to a page, they come up as blank boxes with nothing to click or drag. Can somebody tell me a way to fix this?

I'm having the same problem as Dr. Macbook, and also it is with any and all widgets, not just HTML snippets.  The black translucent code entry box just does not appear, and the widget box is completely blank and transparent. Also, my navigation bar has been replaced by a bullet point in iWeb.  However, when I publish my site, it works just fine -- the widgets have their content and are interactive, and the navigation bar is like it should be.
I have spent all day trying to look for a solution to this problem.  Old Toad, stating the obvious doesn't help.  We know how it is supposed to work, and it's not working.  I have 10.6.8, iWeb 3.0.3, and just downloaded an iWeb update tonight.  Still not working.  I have tried repairing disk permissions and rebooting several times.  I tried removing the following files in various subsets and permutations as suggested by iwebfaq.org and http://www.iwebformusicians.com/WebMusic/iWebTips.html
    /Users/shortname/Library/Caches/com.apple.iWeb/
    /Users/shortname/Library/Caches/iWeb/
    /Users/shortname/Library/Preferences/com.apple.iweb.plist
    /Users/shortname/Library/Preferences/ByHost/com.apple.iWeb.147DCDEF-FC05-5F87-B9 A7-748EE9E6B639.plist
    /Library/Receipts/iWeb--.pkg
I even deleted all those files, in addition to /Users/shortname/Library/Application Support/iWeb/domain.sites2, and then reinstalled iWeb from the DVD, without uninstalling first. This approach did not work.
I tried backing up and deleting my domain.sites2 file from its "native location" and creating a new website -- still, the navigation bar is replaced by a bullet point, and widgets are blank with no black code box available.
I tried logging in as another user and under the other account, iWeb functioned properly.  It even worked when I placed my domain.sites2 file in its "native location" in this other account (had to first change the permissions on the backup file before dropping it in here). However, it failed to publish from the other account -- the Test Connection seemed to succeed, but actually publishing the content failed because of an FTP error.
I tried logging in as myself again and followed this tip from iwebfaq section 2.5 in the troubleshooting page. I downloaded a "fresh working" domain.sites2 file and opened it from the downloads folder using "open with" and it rendered properly with a normal navigation bar and functioning widgets.  But then I tried to put it in its native location where iWeb saves files, /Users/shortname/Library/Application Support/iWeb/ and then opened iWeb, and it had the same old problems.
As the situation stands now, I can open my domain.sites2 "iWeb project file" in another user account, or from another folder in my own account, and it will render just fine. If I open it from another folder in my own account, it seems to be able to communicate with the FTP server and publish just fine, too! If I put my own website, or another downloaded domain.sites2 file, or create a new one in iWeb's native location, it has these problems.
How do we clean up this mess?  It seems to be missing some resource when I launch iWeb in the normal way, but works fine if I choose a domain.sites2 file in Finder and "open with" iWeb that way.  In fact, I just discovered that it can be in its native location and still work normally if I use the "open with" method.  Here is a very small demonstration of the problem.
The problematic iWeb (opened the default way by clicking the Application icon which opens the domain.sites2 project from its native location)
A normally functioning iWeb (picked domain.sites2 in Finder from any location and opened in iWeb, or opened in its native location in another user account)

  • IWeb & Link Color

My default link color appears as red. This applies to any "page links" that show at the top of the page, as well as internal links like links that I put in my blog entries.
Is there a way to change the default link color? It seems like it is a very basic necessity to a website to have link colors that actually correspond to the website.
    Thanks!

So there is a way to access the source code of what I build in iWeb? Not that it is fun to have to change things manually, but if that is a solution then I'll take it.
iweb navbar css is rendered by javascript widget and the code is in the page source.
you can change it if you like, but it isn't practical because you have to post edit every time you publish your site.
I did run a forum search before posting this, but oddly enough what I found I could only view the original post and no replies - so it didn't do me too much good.
the link in my previous post was to lay out all the possible method, you pick your poison and acquire the needed knowledge, except for method #4.
Sad that Apple would leave out something as basic as changing some generic website preferences like link color. That makes me a bit wary about actually using iWeb for large-scale projects :-\
    give them feedback: http://www.apple.com/feedback/iweb.html
that said, navbar is the simplest of iweb widgets; just about everything in it can be changed with ajax and javascript, see this thread:

  • IWeb template copyright

So I am making a widget that is really more a of module or addition (Ie it requires several pages in its own right) that customers will be able to buy. As it is now, I have that widget embedded in an iWeb template, and this is how I would like to sell it. The majority of users will just take the widget's html/javascript code and put it into their own pages so no copyright issues there, but some of the less adept may just want to upload my widget, pages and all, and use them in their entirety.
    What do you think?
I went through all of the pages that I would like to pass on - I have trimmed out a lot of the apple javascript as it really is not cross-browser capable and is fairly bloated. The code of the pages I would like to pass on mention nothing of copyright except for navbar.js which says:
    "// iWeb - navbar.js // Copyright (c) 2007 Apple Inc. All rights reserved."
A few of the other ones just say:
    "// Created by iWeb 2.0.4 local-build-20100911"
So maybe I can't use navbar.js, but I am fine with the other ones? What does all rights reserved mean here? Really appreciate the help. Not a lawyer and have no desire to be accosted by one. Thanks again. The answer may be in the license agreement, but I really don;t feel qualified to interpret that.

  • Inner-HTML or Picture-in-Picture on iWeb, anyone?

Hi; dunno if you've use inner HTML code before (see code for this: <iframe src ="http://servalonline.com/Serval_Online/Video.html" width="100%" height="400"></iframe>) but basically is there anyway I can only select the lower half of the page I am trying to reference? The code above basically gives me half of the Video page from top to midway, but if I want only from midway to bottom, how do I do this? As in, I don't want to be able to scroll at all on the PIP (Picture in Picture) page. I want a fixed portion, as you see on a TV.
For more clarity, go to this page (My site's home page: http://servalonline.com/Serval_Online/Home.html)and see that the video of the day part of the page, on the home page, has the headers but I don't want the headers, as they are duplicates and already appear above, on the top of the main page; nor do I wanna be be able to scroll up or down. I want just a fixed insert. Any ideas?

first off, this posting system is wonky! I had to do do it three times!

yes, I started all and it's called webclip (as in dashboard), I can clip any part of a web page and display it; here your upper right video:
    http://temp.cyclosaurus.com/sharedYoutube/WebClip.html
it seems to me that you like to display the same video in multiple pages without duplicating the work.
if that's the case, then here is easier way:
    1) make a page with nothing but your video:
    http://temp.cyclosaurus.com/sharedYoutube/dailyVideo.html
    2) then display it in other pages using html snippet:
    http://temp.cyclosaurus.com/sharedYoutube/Home.html
    http://temp.cyclosaurus.com/sharedYoutube/Video.html
btw, this is the same concept as my navbar widget (build once and share all):
    http://www.cyclosaurus.com/Home/CyclosaurusBlog/Entries/2009/9/10iWeb_NavBarWidget.html
code is linked to all my sample.
