Iweb not updating

I made a web page on iWeb and all was fine. I then re named the page and now every time I try to update the page I get an error message stating that I have a bad network connection, when I know it is fine. Sometimes I get the error message stating that there was a problem finding my iDisk quota. Again I know ther is plenty of room on my disk.
Thanks for any help.

Thousands of people are having the same problem. My topic was deleted by Apple, I'm sure yours will be too. They say they're working on it.
People have posted some ways around the problems - but honestly - should we need "ways around"?

  • IWeb not updating site changes, even overnight!

    Hi iWeb-experts,
Having problems with iWeb and have waded through the site and other forums and yet to find a solution.
Site is marccheckley.com. I successfully moved the site before MobileMe closed shop and made updates to the site a few months back.
Now I'm trying to upload further changes but iWeb has stopped functioning. I get no status that the site is being changed, as it was previously. And I know this has not happened as I have it linked to my Facebook and no "updated website" has popped up on my Wall.
I even left it overnight to update website changes and still nothing. Even clearing brower's cache etc. I tested the FTP connection all good and nothing been changed since my last updates a while back.
All 'pages' of site remain red, not updated in iWeb.
Really not sure what's happened. Nothing but probs since the closure of MobileMe, my podcast is still on hiatus due to linking problems, now website issues with iWeb.
Anyone have an idea and fix?
    Always appreciated.

If you are using the iWeb FTP to upload make sure the box next to "Update my Facebook profile when I publish this site" is unchecked. Checking this box prevents the FTP from working.
Also make sure you have no bad file names with spaces or special characters - particularly image files. This will halt the upload process.

  • IWeb not updating web site.

iWeb started out working okay. I kept a blog and updated it. Then I went on a trip. Even though I had wireless internet the whole time, updating kept failing. No error message, but the update clock would stop after being about one-quarter filled. When I came home, there was no difference.
Although this started months ago (before the whole .Mac to MobileMe changeover), I do believe my recent inability to update my web site is related to it. The reason is that although I can access the last updated version of my web site at "web.me.com/myaccountname", when I go to my current iDisk and open the "sites" folder, it's empty!
Is it possible that my account has not yet been changed over to MobileMe yet? I have already installed all OS updates, including the MobileMe update. My account logs in fine.
    Any ideas?????

Hey maybe you need to replace only the page that was updated, do not change all the published site, try I just did it and it work I have change a page and a file to be downloaded from the web site, now I can see the changes live on the web. this is what I wrote to others.
Hey I have found not a solution but a way to publish without iWeb, Just did it and I have seen the changes on the web site. If you guys want to try:
I have published my updated web site to a folder on my desktop. then open iDisk from the web (where my web sites files are stored for everyone else to see) then open both windows side by side and only replace the files of the updated pages from the desktop folder to the iDisk folder, there is always a file and a folder with the same name. I just replace them, I then checked on the web and Woalah! changes were made. Well... it did work for now without iWeb, not sure if is the right thing to do but if you are brave enough to follow this go ahead and go to bed as I will until the bug is fixed (hopefully tomorrow) then we can go back to normal. Hope is clear and it help! Rog

  • Iweb not updating pdf links

I am using iWeb 3.0.2 and have made a site with many pages and links. Many of the links are to pdf pages. I have recently changed many of the pdf files - but kept the names the same. After publishing the updated site the pdf links still open the old versions of the pdf files. Other links just don't work at all - as if they are not links.
I have tested the site in Safari - after emptying the cache and Firefox.
Any ideas? Help is needed soon. This site is for my department and it is supposed to go on line before the holidays.
The site can be looked at here: http://web.me.com/wijtman/VAS/Home.html

How did you add the links to the pdf files to the page? Did you use the Inspector/Link/Hyperlink pane and use the link to file option? If so I've found that that often does not update as you're experiencing.
I suggest you do the following:
1 - Create a folder titled pdfs and put it in your iDisk/Web/Sites folder.
2 - place your pdf files in that folder.
3 - link to the files as An External Page
    with the following URL:
    http://web.me.com/wijtman/pdfs/file_name.pdf
Now when you want to make a change to a pdf file just upload the new file to the pdfs folder on your iDisk replacing the old file. There is no change required to the web page using iWeb.

  • IWeb not updating published status within application

I'm having a strange iWeb problem that just started up within the last day or so. When I publish any of the sites within my domain (I have seven separate "sites" that are all part of the same domain file) the updates get published to my site, but the icons in iWeb do not change color back to blue. This happens whether I choose to publish changes or publish all.
Another symptom of this problem is that my published site (http://www.adamreisinger.com) does not reflect the changes online until about five minutes after iWeb gives me the dialog box that my site has been successfully updated.
The only thing I've changed on my system recently is applying the last round of software updates, including the iLife update. I've tried trashing the application preferences and the iWeb cache and re-publishing, as well as logging out and logging back into MobileMe within System Preferences.
Any help in this matter would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the suggestion. I tried the steps you outlined, and unfortunately the problem persists. Also, because the files were deleted from the Web folder the iDisk, iWeb is now under the impression that EVERY page has been modified, which has actually increased my publishing time.
Some other troubleshooting steps I've taken to try and narrow down this problem:
    - I've tried publishing the domain from a newly created user account on the same computer (MBP running 10.6.2 and all latest updates applied)
    - I've tried copying the domain file to a different computer (one that has not had the latest iLife support update applied) and publishing from there
    - I've tried publishing to a different MobileMe account (a test account set up by Apple)
    - I deleted an entire site from the source list in iWeb (one that, fortunately, was not needed)
After all these steps -- tried individually -- the issue persists.

  • IWeb not updating to MobileMe

hello everyone. I have never posted to this forum before and I am relatively new to macs, so please go easy on me if I come off sounding like an idiot.
I have a webpage that I had previously published through my .mac account. After the update from .mac to MobileMe, my computer can't seem to publish my page. When I click the menu items in iWeb, there are still options that say "publish to .mac" and "publish all to .mac" and NOT "publish to MobileMe." I have checked for new updates to the iWeb software, but the software updater says everything is up to date.
Is there something I need to change within iWeb to make it communicate with MobileMe or is this a central Apple issue? I should mention that I have been able to log into MobileMe and my addresses, calendar, etc. has updated to MobileMe just fine.
I appreciate any and all suggestions. Thanks in advance for your help!!

These issues are happening for everyone it seems. The whole reason I subscribed to the .Mac (MobileMe) service was to be able to use iWeb and publish my own personal site. I'm not a big fan of the Web 2.0 (Facebook, MySpace, etc.), so using this service was a no brainer for me to keep my family and friends updated in the lives of my boys and I without all the work and drama of the other sites.
Anyhow, I know that although my pages are actually publishing, it is quite annoying to be getting the error messages. It's just a constant reminder that Apple still doesn't have things working the way that they should.
I'm sure they will have a fix soon as I'm sure that there are quite a HUGE number of customers out there who are actively seeking out other alternatives.
This situation is annoying, disappointing, and very unprofessional on Apple's part and I'm just a Ms. Everyday Person. I can only imagine these emotions are intensified for those of you who do rely on these services for professional purposes.

  • IWeb not updating photos

When I update photos on iWeb (I have a Photos page with 9 albums), sometimes the published website "ignores" the updates.  Although I save and update a new photo, it just doesn't appear on the website.  This doesn't happen every time, or with every album.  And sometimes even if I rearrange the albums, to try to give iWeb an extra "push", it doesn't see that change either.  Forced updating of the entire website doesn't fix the problem.  Any ideas?  Updates work fine on other pages, and on some photo albums.  I'm running iWeb 3.0.4 on Lion, and the website is not hosted on mobileme.  The url is http://www.hsvbrushstrokes.com/HSVBS/Home.html

First you need to make sure you are emptying the browser cache before visiting the published site.
To make sure that iWeb is actually adding the images, publish you site to a local folder...
    http://www.iwebformusicians.com/iWebMusicWebsite/MusicWebsiteBuilding.html
... and launch it in the browser by double clicking the index.html file. Are the photos present in this version of your site?

  • IWeb not updating blog site

I am trying to update my blog but even tho iWeb on my computer shows the change, the archive on the web site also shows the change, the home page does not. Does anyone have any ideas for why this doesn't work? My blog page is:
    http://web.mac.com/glennsan/iWeb/San%20Diego%20Petersons/Blog/Blog.html
if you want to take a look at it and see exactly what I am talking about.
    Thank you.

    Hi,
I see it all fine. You must have fixed it or....
Maybe what you had was a cache problem. Since your pages weren't cached in my browser I saw it fine. But the old pages were most likely cached in your browser. After you update....clear the cache in Safari. Another method is to add a question mark at the end of the url address. That forces it to clear. Also over time it will natually update......so after awhile you will see the changes w/o clearing the cache.

  • Iweb not updating changes since moved to godaddy

Today I switched from mobileme to godaddy and everything worked fine. Then I cancelled the mobileme account. Now when I make changes in iweb and save to a folder, the changes are not being saved in the folder. (I'm trying to change my contact info & delete my email address). The edited page appears changed in iweb, but when I look in the folder it created, the email address is still there. This is the process I'm using:
    1. Make changes in iweb
    2. Save changes
    3. publish to folder in iweb (on desktop)
    4. Using Fetch to upload to godaddy server.
I get no error messages with iweb, Fetch or Godaddy. (In iweb site inspector, I changed site name to http://www.babysmithsite.com
    url contact page: http://www.babysmithsite.com/Contact.html
    Any ideas?

Sorry I wasnt clear about this. What I was trying to accomplish was to develop a site that only family members could access (with user name and password) and that the bots couldnt sniff my email address.
After everything was working on godaddy, I decided to change the email address on the site from my PERSONAL email account to a new one I got from godaddy.([email protected])
    1. Deleted the old email address from iweb. Added the new one ([email protected])
    2. Made new folder (site2) and uploaded that via Fetch.
That's when the problems started. The new email address didnt appear on the site. After 4-5 hours, I decided to delete all email addresses from site for security reasons (bots). Finally at 11 pm last nite, I called godaddy and the new page (suddenly) reads correctly with just a phone number and not any email addresses. So now the bots cant sniff my site, but it's still not private. Godaddy says I cant do that with them. Aargh! Mobile me was so much easier but it's 3X more expensive and I only need it for this little family website. Seems like switching wasnt such a good idea. Thanks to everyone for all the help.

  • IWeb not allowing me up update my site

i've just updated my site on iWeb.  when i click "publish site" it asks me to login to mobileme but i'm already logged in and my account has been transferred to icloud.
the publishing page shows that my idisk is full but my mobile me shows that i have more than 21 gb availabe.
is this a mobile me vs. icloud issue and iweb hasn't been updated?
    i'm on iweb 3.0.4
    on 10.7.2
    thanks for any help

If you're finding issues with iWeb (not related to publishning to MobileMe) try the following:
delete the iWeb preference files, com.apple.iWeb.plist and com.apple.iWeb.plist.lockfile, that resides in your Home() /Library/Preferences folder.
go to your Home()/Library/Caches/com.apple.iWeb folder and delete its contents.
    launch iWeb and try again.

  • Iweb SEO tool not updating website

I've figured out how to use Rages iweb seo tool however, it's not showing up on the web. Why not? It still shows the old "welcome" as my page title or "about us" as my page title. I can see the information I put into the tool and I've clicked "apply." When I click "apply" it says "your changes have been applied", but it's not updating! So, I tried publishing WITHIN the SEO tool and then I did see the changes (for the title tag) but my navigation bar was removed and I could only get to the home page. It looks like the url was different as well.
    Please help!

iWeb SEO tool is a very useful application but I wouldn't recommend using for FTP. After republishing your site with any changes, reapply the tags with SEO tool and then upload your files with an FTP application.
If you don't have one, the freeware Cyberduck is good.....
    http://cyberduck.ch/
The reason that your website navigation is not showing is probably because the feed.xml file is missing. If you are using the iWeb default navigation you should consider getting rid of it and building a custom one in a text box as this is a lot better from the SEO point of view.

  • IWeb SEO not updating navigation bar

    Hi All,
I have been working on my first website via iWeb (3.0.4 v601) and have been able to work through most of the issues encountered. The main one was the site name repeated in the address, so I researched the iWeb SEO that fixed that. i.e.
    www.thealleybarn.com/welcome.html was showing as www.thealleybarn.com/The_Alley_Barn/Welcome.html
Today I made some updates to my site, including removing  a couple of blank pages and renaming another one. When publishing the site via iWeb SEO it is not updating the navigation bar. I have cleared my cache and double checked it on my phone (which had not viewed the site before) but it did not fix the issue.
    My website is: www.thealleybarn.com
The menu should read: Welcome / The House / Beaches / Renovation / Contact
However currently it reads: Welcome / The House / Beaches / Renovation / Things to do (blank page I deleted) / Location (I had renamed this to "contact")
When not uploading it via the iWeb SEO (using the iweb ftp option) it actually looks ok, but then it has the name duplication issue, i.e. http://www.thealleybarn.com/The_Alley_Barn/Welcome.html
This suggest that the files have been uploaded correctly, but its just not showing the right navigation bar when doing it via iWeb SEO. The other pages I updated are working ok, its just the menu that is the old one and not new one.
    Any help is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

Well yes, if you start using the iWeb ftp to upload your site after having used iWebSEO, then you will get your site name back again, because the iWeb ftp overrides what you have done with using iWebSEO - so once you use it you have to continue or iWeb itself will override.
You do state that you are using iWeb 08 however and iWeb 08 does not have the ftp included - this only applies to iWeb 09.
What you can try however is not uploading your site using iWebSEO.  Rather, publish your site from iWeb to a local folder and then open your site with iWebSEO and then add what you want to but then when you are ready to upload, use something like Cyberduck instead - this is a dedicated ftp client - there is this or Yummy ftp.  Don't use iWebSEO to upload and see if using Cyberduck instead makes a difference.  Again, to get rid of the site name problem, just upload the contents of your site folder and NOT the whole site folder itself.

  • Blog Comments not updating in iWeb '09

I have a photo blog site that allows comments to be made. The web site itself is working as it should. But when checking for comments using iWeb they will not update to reflect what comments have been made. There will be the blue indicator next to the post but when selected, the comments are not shown in the iWeb window. This is making monitoring comments a real hassle. Any ideas?

I don't think this is an iweb 3 exclusive problem. I'm using iweb 1.1.2 and have similar issues with communication between the users computer and Apple. Mine are with updating pages with changes on them. Pages never turn blue showing the update complete, but instead stay red after uploading the whole site. So every time the program thinks it has to update every page on the site which takes forever. It started up around February 09. Apple told me this was a problem on their end communicating back to your computer letting it know the update has been made. Your problem sounds like it might also be coming from Apple. It's been 2 months now and still no fix. I'm betting that Apple supporting .mac and mobileme at the same time has something to do with the problem. The mobileme people will probably get a fix when they officially dump .mac in July because you're the new program on the block where I don't know what will happen to us old .mac people. Maybe a free update to version 1.1.2 that will make it compatible with mobileme instead of .mac?
    Na, probably not.

  • Iweb would not update the title

My iweb would not update the title of one of my website pages. All other updates went through but this one. I even deleted the page and did it again and it refuses to appear right after published. It also shows an error 404 in the page when published. Can anyone help? Thanks

Try clearing your browser's cache (Command+Option+E for Safari) and relaoding that one page.

  • IWeb is not updating my website.

After i publish my updates for my website to a folder (by clicking <File> <Publish to a folder>) iWeb is still showing the updated page icons in red and my website is not updating. However, I am getting a message after taking those steps that says "Your site has been published to the folder you selected" and it gives me the options to click <Visit Site Now> or <OK>. When I click <Visit Site Now> it shows the updates in the page that comes up, but when I access the page directly through Safari it shows the website without the updates. Also, when I reopen iWeb the changes that I made are still there and the updated page icons are still in red. Does anyone have any idea of how to fix this or what I am doing wrong? Thanks in advance for your help/replies.

The site has published correctly in the past.
Nothing has been moved or changed in iWeb folder.
All content files are in correct folder / not missing.
I do not have an external drive.
I do not have a .Mac account. It is being published to my own domain.
Thanks for your thoughts David. Much appreciated!
