IWeb not working..

Hey All..
Had my first dable with iWeb tonight and made a 5 page website with content from my recent Wedding. However, after clicking on publish and getting a message saying it was done, when I click visit and it takes me to my site, I am getting an error page that says:
we can't find the iWeb page you've requested. It's possible that:
· The address was entered incorrectly. Check your spelling and try again.
· The .Mac member of this name has either created a page and removed it or has never published an iWeb site.
· There is no .Mac member of this name. If you'd like this member name for yourself, sign up for a .Mac account right now and have your own iWeb site in minutes.
Is anyone else experiencing such problems? Is it perhaps down to the MobileMe .Mac switch?
Would be grateful of any assitance. Thanks.
~Ricky

Have you tried the menu option in the File menu: Visit Published Site?
Or try typing in the URL to your site: http://web.mac.com/your account name/
You can also use http://web.me.com/your account name/
Do you have any non standard characters in your site's name, i.e anything other than a-z, 1-0, _, etc.
Renaming a website or webpage
You can rename a site or page at any time by double-clicking its name in the site organizer and typing the new name.
The page name appears at the top of the visitor's browser.
The site name is included in the website's address (URL):
http://web.mac.com/[YourMemberName]/
Renamed pages and sites (as well as the site's URL) change online the next time you publish.
IMPORTANT: If you rename a site, previously created links to your site won't work; be sure to notify your visitors, especially your blog or podcast subscribers.
iWeb now converts spaces in site names to "_". Also avoid non-Roman characters; many get converted to numbers when you publish.
Other characters aren't recommended for use in website names, including: forward and backward slashes (/ \), brackets ([ ]), tilde (~), exclamation point !, question mark (?), "at" sign (@), number sign (#), dollar sign ($), ampersand (&), asterisk (*), colon (:), equal sign (=), comma (,), and double quotation marks ("). Using these characters may result in names with strange numbers in them.

  • Flash xml slideshow in iWeb not working

    Hallo
I am really struggling to get a Flash xml slideshow to work.  I have used Flash Slideshow Maker app, which creates a slide.xml, .swf and .html file and everything is published in one folder "slideshow" on a local disk.
I am using the following code and it works perfectly when viewed in iWeb:
    <OBJECT classid="clsid:D27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000" codebase="http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=6,0, 40,0"
    WIDTH="920" HEIGHT="400" id="Phambili">
    <PARAM NAME=movie VALUE="/Users/elsjevanzyl/Documents/Websites/Published Websites/Phambili/Slideshow/Phambili.swf?xml_path=slides.xml">

    PLUGINSPAGE="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer" base=".">

    </OBJECT>
But as soon as I publish it to FTP with following code, it displays the slideshow but NOT the photos or thumbs:
    <OBJECT classid="clsid:D27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000" codebase="http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=6,0, 40,0"

I have also tried iFrame code, but this is not working at all.
Can anybody tell me what I am doing wrong when publishing the above code to FTP?

  • Movies in iWeb not working

Exported iMovie to the desktop using "Share to Web" selection. Then ran it through Lillipot to set the "Fast Start" option. Dragged the movie into a new iWeb page & posted. But, alas it does not play until the entire movie is downloaded (Fast Start" not working). The same movie is on my old Homepage on .Mac & works as expected. Any ideas?
    Homepage link is:
    http://homepage.mac.com/lstacy2/iMovieTheater20.html
    iWeb link is:
    http://web.mac.com/lstacy2/iWeb/FamilySite/fishingmovie1.html

Over on the top right side of this page there's an area where you can search the discussions. Type "Auto Play Movies" in the search area and it will post results of any discussion with those words included. Narrow your search to just the iWeb forum and you'll surely find your answer.
Hover over the "Auto-Play" link I provided in my first post. It will send you to a page just the same as if you typed "auto Play Movies" in the search located on the right side of this page, restricted to the iWeb forum.
Go a step further and try it on Google

  • Site created in iWeb not working on iPad.

I created kind of a test site in iWeb, and then "hosted" it on the web via Opera Unite. The site I created displays correctly over the net on the dektop versions of Opera, Firefox, and Safari, but on my iPad, both Safari and Atomic Web have issues. Neither will render any of the iWeb embedded google maps, and the photos displayed on the bottom of my page in the photo viewer refuse to even show up. The made on mac apple logo is also improperly placed on top of something else on my page. What could be causing this?  I am using iWeb 3.0.4, and my iPad has iOS 5.1
If my computer is on, which wont be often overall, the site in question can be viewed here.
    http://admin.home.nnickn.operaunite.com/webserver/content/ORD/Photos.html
    Thanks for the help!

I tired to load the page several more times, but it usually doesn't work. Here is what happened.
A few times everything displayed properly.
Sometimes the maps alone didn't display.
Sometimes the maps would display but not the bottom pictures.
Sometimes the pictures next to the maps wouldn't display, but everything else was fine.
It seems like it randomly does or doesn't load items. I still don't understand why, as the desktop browsers I loaded my page on never had a problem displaying any of the content. Any ideas?

  • The new Photos software and iWeb not working

Just downloaded the new Photos software.  Now photos do not appear on the iWeb photos tab to drag into web page.  Is there a way to remedy that?

It's not gone - just a version too old to run on 10.10.3.  However, read the following:

Go to the App Store and check out the Purchases List. If iPhoto is there then it will be v9.6.1
If it is there, then drag your existing iPhoto app (not the library, just the app) to the trash
Install the App from the App Store.
Sometimes iPhoto is not visible on the Purchases List. it may be hidden. See this article for details on how to unhide it.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4928
One question often asked: Will I lose my Photos if I reinstall?
iPhoto the application and the iPhoto Library are two different parts of the iPhoto programme. So, reinstalling the app should not affect the Library. BUT you should always have a back up before doing this kind of work. Always.
The above should allow you to get iPhoto 9.6.1 which will run under 10.10.3.

  • Registered iLife, but iWeb not working

I purchased iLife '06, and finally installed it on my MacBook Pro, which also had iWeb on it. When I open iWeb, everything is greyed out. I can't use it. Any ideas?
Even if I didn't install iLife, I'm not sure why my laptop came with iWeb if I couldn't use it.
    Thanks

    Hi ewag,
So... you basically have iWeb and iLife '06 installed but you also bought iLife '06...
The installed iWeb isn't meant to be unusable it's meant to work but apparently a lot of people experience the same bug as you.
I usually recommend people to do the following:
Go to iPhoto, select some photos, go to Share and "Send to iWeb" (try both Blog and Photopages)
Many people report that going through this procedure 3-4 times awakens their iWeb...
I hope you have iPhoto installed and a few pictures in it...
    Regards,

  • IMovie, Garageband, iWeb not working?

Hey everyone, I recently got my macbook back from repairs (RSD). Everything hardware wise could'nt be better. However recently when tring to use iMovie, it loads the file I plan on working on then doesn't do anything. Just quits. No "quit unexpectly" pop-up either. I tried other iLife apps and Garageband did the same exact thing. In iWeb, it starts up but it won't let you do anything (creating a new page, etc.) Iphoto and iCal seem to work just fine. Any suggestions, or do I have to do a restore and repair?? Thanks everyone.

  • Iweb not working - please help

    Hi,
Just wondering why my Iweb isn't working....
My MacBookPro came with Iweb already installed and worked fine for a few months...however I haven't used it for about one year. Today when I tried to use, everything is greyed out (e.g. new site, new page, etc)
Can anyone please let me know why? I tried to do a software update but it simply takes me to the page - purchase iLife08 -
Does it mean the only way to use Iweb now is to pruchase iLife08? I don't need anything else, and my iPhoto runs fine...
Can i still use my iWeb without buying iLife08?
    Thnks

The following trick has worked for some:
Quit iWeb. Start iPhoto. Select a couple of photos, click on the iWeb icon at lower right and choose +Photo Page+. iWeb will open up and invite you to choose a template for your new Photos page. Choose any template so that the page is created and then delete that newly created page.
...Now perhaps things are no longer greyed out in iWeb.
If that doesn't do it, you can let Apple know that you need help using .Mac via the form half-way down the page linked to by this icon:
...Their support experts will make every effort to reply within 48 hours.

  • Domain name and iweb not working 100%

I’m a real novice.I made a site using iweb 09.with a domain name bought from fasthosts.co.uk.I pointed fasthosts at webme.com,but I can only see my site if I type nigeljames.net if I type http://www.nigeljames.net I get nothing, probably something simple but a fundamental flaw for me

If you have used CNAME forwarding, then you need to go to the DNS settings at fasthosts and point your domain name to @, CNAME forwarded to web.me.com and then www CNAME forwarded to web.me.com and this will then work.
Normally, you would have to cancel the A settings and then set up two CNAMES, one being your domain name represented by the @ and www, which is your sub domain. Set both up and then forward them to web.me.com, your host being MobileMe.

  • Twitter Widget for iWeb not working

Sorry if this answer has already been asked. I am creating a website using iWeb. I wanted to add my twitter account to it so I went to Twitter and went through their widget maker, customized it, copied the html code, pasted in the iWeb html widget box, and it worked great. Now, all of the sudden none of my twitter account widgets are working in iWeb. Anyone else having this problem?
    Thanks,
    J

    Yes, I said that :
Sometimes you have to imagine that you see it in iWeb.
Here's how it looks in iWeb :
And here's how it looks in the published page.

As I said. you have to imagine that you see it.

  • Publish on IWeb not working

    Hi,
I tried to edit my website last night. I deleted and added some pictures then clicked on publish. Now it's been over 12 hours. The publish is grayed out. The folder is still red and when I tried to close IWeb it says it's in the process of publishing. I've checked my website and none of my changes are there. How do i fix this? What is the issue?
    HELP!!

    Try the following:
1 - delete the iWeb preference file, com.apple.iWeb.plist, that resides in your
         User/Home/Library/ Preferences folder.
2 - delete iWeb's cache file, Cache.db, that is located in your
User/Home/Library/Caches/com.apple.iWeb folder (Snow Leopard and Earlier).
3 - launch iWeb and try again.
NOTE:  In Lion and Mountain Lion the Library folder is now invisible. To make it permanently visible enter the following in the Terminal application window: chflags nohidden ~/Library and hit the Enter button - 10.7: Un-hide the User Library folder.
If that doesn't help continue with:
move the domain file from your Home/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder to the Desktop.
launch iWeb, create a new test site, save the new domain file and close iWeb.
go to the your Home/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder and delete the new domain file.
move your original domain file from the Desktop to the iWeb folder.
    launch iWeb and try again.

  • Website built with iWeb not working properly on PC

How can I ensure that everything that I build in Iweb will open correctly if someone goes to my website on a PC? In particular, people have had problems listening to music that I have put on my site. I tried embedding a music player, and I have also tried using hyper links to my songs - but this continues to pose problems fir PC users.

  • Comments Not Working on Website - published to non-.mac server

Hi there. I've read on a few non-apple sites of users having trouble with Comments and some other functions of their websites, built in iWeb, not working when they publish to a non-.mac server. I've built my website in iWeb, published via CyberDuck to a BlueHost server -- but now users can not post comments on my blog.
Has anyone found a way to fix this issue??
It seems incredibly pointless to even now have my own domain. I'm super close to giving up on iWeb all together because of this ridiculous issue.
    Thanks in advance.
    www.kellerowski.com

Unfortunately, blog comments are a MobileMe only feature along with the hit counter etc.
You have to publish to MobileMe if you want these features.
There are workarounds however. If you want to continue to use an iWeb blog, then you can use a third party comments feature. Take a look here http://www.intensedebate.com. It is free to set up on the site and all you then do is copy and paste the code into an html snippet on the page you want comments to appear in whatever format you want them.
Your other option is to ditch iWeb and if it is just a blog you want, use something like http://www.wordpress.com. This is free and you don't need a domain name and the blog is published on WordPress servers.
Your other option for a blog is http://www.posterous.com.
The iWeb blog system is not that good, so you might look into changing if a blog is what you want rather than a website.
