  • IWeb 09 and Mountain Lion compatibility

    Hi all,
has anyone already tried to run iWeb 09 with Mountain Lion? Perfect compatibility?
    Thanks.
    Antonio

I haven't done too, much yet just finished my installation. But, it seems to be working as it did in Lion.

  • Iweb 08 and Mountain Lion. . .am I screwed?

Hi.  Recently got a mid-2011 Imac with ML installed at the time of purchase (not my choice).
I've read you can still get Iweb to work on this OS even though it's not "officially supported" or some such.
I was hoping I could port my site created on the old computer to the new one. I found the "sites2.domain" or whatever the weird filename is for the iweb site, created an identically named folder on the new computer in what seemed to be the right place, and dropped it there.  Don't know how to actually make Iweb use that, though. when I opened Iweb it acted like it was going to start a site from scratch. I thought maybe saving would create a directory where I could place the old site file, so I tried to save, and it crashed.
So is this no good? Am I doing something wrong or do I need a newer version of ilife ('11?)?

If you stick with iWeb 2 (08) you are screwed as it is not compatible with Mt. Lion.  Get a copy of iWeb 3 (09 or 11) and you'll be able to use it to manage you websites.
NOTE:  if you think you might want to use iDVD at some time in the future get a copy of iLife 09 as that will get you both iWeb 3 and iDVD with all themes.  iLIfe 11 doesn't not install all iDVD themes.
Once you get  iWeb 3 installed read the following:
In Lion and Mountain Lion the Home/Library folder is now invisible. To make it permanently visible enter the following in the Terminal application window: chflags nohidden ~/Library and hit the Enter button - 10.7: Un-hide the User Library folder.
To open your domain file in Lion or Mountain Lion or to switch between multiple domain files Cyclosaurus has provided us with the following script that you can make into an Applescript application with Script Editor. Open Script Editor, copy and paste the script below into Script Editor's window and save as an application.
do shell script "/usr/bin/defaults write com.apple.iWeb iWebDefaultsDocumentPath -boolean no"delay 1
    tell application "iWeb" to activate
You can download an already compiled version with this link: iWeb Switch Domain.
Just launch the application, find and select the domain file in your Home/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder that you want to open and it will open with iWeb. It modifies the iWeb preference file each time it's launched so one can switch between domain files.
WARNING: iWeb Switch Domain will overwrite an existing Domain.sites2 file if you select to create a new domain in the same folder.  So rename your domain files once they've been created to something other than the default name.

  • IWeb and OSX Mountain Lion

Apple just announced a new version of OSX for the summer, called Mountain Lion. Will iWeb work with ML? Probably no one outside of Apple knows, but it's something to watch out for if, like me, you continue using iWeb.

Good question. The developer preview was released TODAY . Seeing as iLife 11 is compatible with Lion, I would expect so. Of course, you would need to have the option to allow ALL programs (and not just those with the Apple signed code)
iWeb is dying though. It's rather sad.

  • Iphoto, imovie, iweb missing after mountain lion upgrade...

I have a mid 2010 iMac that I have kept up to date and recently upgraded to Mountian Lion.  Everything has been fine except that I noticed that iLife was missing right after the update...  And I didn't purchase it in the app store because it came with my iMac.  In fact, the iMac came with Snow Leopard on it I think. But I haven't the slightest idea where that disk is because we lost a few things that I haven't located yet in our move last year.  I have another copy of Snow Leopard that I goes to my 2009 MacBook that I already had.  It seems quite frustrating that the programs just disappeared and they've never done that before on any other upgrade!  I have no need to purchase and upgrade to iLife 11 as I only use iPhoto and iMovie for iPhone photos/video because I have everything else in LightRoom already.  But I would like iPhoto/iMovie back!  How do I go about doing this?  Can i use my backup to get it back somehow?  Just confused on how to tget it back and my searches yielded very little...  Thanks!

sorry...  i meant '09 version...  I just knew it wasn't '11 (assumed '09) because I haven't upgraded to the '11 versions.  I said iLife because I lost all 3-iphoto, iweb and imovie.  Well, I see that iweb isn't a part of '11 and is going away and i am just now seeing that.  And noticing that I lost GarageBand in addition (i just don't use it to notice it was also missing after the upgrade).
And again, they all came installed on my computer, not from me purchasing it via app store.  Technically I guess it wasn't a part of the OS, I just meant that it came with the imac and was part of my imac purchase.  I only remember having an install disk (not a seperate ilife disk) that came with my imac but i am unable to find any of it because of a move (and haven't located the disks that came with the 2010 iMac).  Again, I have the snow leopard os upgrade disk that I purchased (prior to buying my imac in 2010) that I bought to upgrade my 2009 MacBook Pro.  But again, it isn't the SL install disk that came with the 2010 iMac (which is the computer we are discussing here)  However, my 2009 MacBookPro was upgraded to ML right after I upgraded the iMac on the same exact dayand I DID NOT lose iphoto, iweb, imovie and garageband on that MacBook Pro.  And it was the 09' also because I had not upgraded either computer to '11 version.  So, the programs went missing on the imac upgrade only, and not the macbook-so there has to be a reason why...  I did not mean that iLife came with an OS Upgrade -only that it came with all purchased apple computers. sorry!
Sberman-I will try to load the iphoto link that you gave above and see if it restores the iphoto and my catalog, etc. Someone I know suggested that it's all still there - but i am just missing the iphoto programs (and other programs) for some reason and all should be restored once it's reloaded.

  • How to make iweb work on mountain lion

I can't get iweb to upload my sites to webhotel (ftp-server)
    What can i do?

One problem at a time, please.
And do not compound them, mix them and then cry for help.
None of your problems have any relation. And neither has your assumption.
When iWeb tests the connection, it tries to write a file on the server.
When the test succeeds, iWeb is happy. That does not mean it is the right location to publish your website. It only test if it can write.
If iWeb cannot write, then it certainly isn't the right location.
Usually the pathname is the cause of the failure.
    So check the pathname field.

  • Use iWeb in Mountain Lion

    Hi Guys
I wanted to great a hompage with iWeb during my exchange year.

so do anyone knows if ther is a way to use iWeb?
    would be great!

iWeb has two other publishing options...

  • IWeb 3.0.4 Site Doesn't Work in Mountain Lion

I am running iWeb 3.0.4 on OS X 10.8 (Mountain Lion). When I open iWeb and select a site (which uses the black theme), all I see is a blank gray box where the page used to appear. The YouTube videos I put on the page are there, but none of the text and background shows. I went to the Theme menu to try and re-apply the theme, but it is grayed out in the list and nothing changes in the box when I select a different theme.
Is this a permissions issue or something else happening? I have looked for a com.apple.iweb.plist file in my Library > Application Support folder but nothing is there. I really need to access this site to make updates and/or to port it to another software package that is supported.
Any idease are welcome. Thank you for your help.

You were looking the wrong library. The library you want is invisible in Lion and Mt Lion.  However the following will let you make it visible again:
In Lion the Library folder is now invisible. To make it permanently visible enter the following in the Terminal application window: chflags nohidden ~/Library and hit the Enter button - 10.7: Un-hide the User Library folder.

I installed Mountain Lion on a free partition of my iMacs (8.1) harddrive, then migrated all the data from my timemachine-backup I saved with Lion on the same machine. • Currently running Snow Leopard with iWeb will Mountain Lion support it?

Currently running Snow Leopard but wish to upgrade to Mountain Lian to support new iphone etc. Only problem being that I've just set up a small online page using iweb through an ftp server. will Mountain Lion support any changes that I make to my pages and can it then publish trhough the outside server?

iWeb is supported in Mountain Lion. That said you need not upgrade to ML to support new iPhone 5. What OS are you using? All you need is iTunes 11.

The other thing they don't tell you is that Mountain Lion disables OfficeMac, and I am considering uninstalling it for that reason - do I get my money back?!

You stated; "Mountain Lion disables OfficeMac"
    That is not true.
Mountain Lion does not have Rosetta so it is not capable of executing PowerPC code. If you have MS Office 2004 that is coded in PowerPC code and will not run in Mountain Lion. What you need to do is upgrade to an Intel version of Office.

  • IWeb and Mountain Lion

    Hello folks,
Through this community,  I learned  I can't download iWeb to install in Mountain Lion, I need to use an iLife DVD.
OK, I have a MacBook running Snow Leopard and also the DVD that came with it where is iWeb, I believe into iLife. Using exactly my MacBook drive as a remote disc for my new 21.5" iMac, I tried to install, but always get a message saying software in the disc or is already installed in the iMac or it isn't compatible and doesn't allow me  to proceed.
    Does anybody can help?
    Thanks in advance  Paulo

    Hello OT, Wyodor and ErikDM
First of all thank you all for the suggestions.
I am not sure I understood correctly what you folks suggested, so I'd appreciate some additional guidance.
In my MacBook Applications folder I do have the application iWeb.app, as well as, I also have iDVD.app.
OT suggest alternatively that I should copy this or these applications to a folder I'd create into the Applications folder, copy this folder to my new ML iMac  and click on the applications to install or run those; or just copy the iWeb.app to the new iMac.  Did I get it correctly?
I already made Library visible in Mountain Lion  and in the MacBook my Domain.sites2 is easyly accessible at Home/Library/Application Support.
Did I get OT right understanding I need to copy the iWeb folder from the MacBook and paste in the Application Support in the iMac?
I believe Wyodor Says that to move (or copy?) my Domain.sites2 from MacBook to the new iMac I need to use iWebSites. Am I right?
Finally, ErikDM advises on how to do after moving the domain (I believe with the help of iWebSites) and I am also understanding the double click is to be made over Domain.sites2, Right?.
I have one final doubt. Even if I understood correctly your suggestions, I haven't installed iWeb in the new ML machine. With the suggested procedures, will the iMac do that automatically?
Again, thanks a lot for the suggestions and forgive for annoying once more with these clarifications request
    Regards   Paulo
