Iweb picture templet

About 5% of the people that try and view my web site can not view the pictures that are in picture templets. they can view the pictures that are on pages with single pictures.

Jack:
If you add a Statcounter counter to your site you can get quite a bit of information about those who are visiting, system, browser, page coming from and where located.
That might help you with the issue. There are other 3rd party counters that will do the same.

  • Images disappear or be replaced by default iWeb pictures

    Hi!
I'm new to this forum, and I've searched for someone who has the same problam as me, but I can't find any, so now I'm posting my problem to see if I'm the only one with this problem.
I've created a site in iWeb'09 on my new iMac with OS 10.5.7, but I have huge problems with photo albums. When I drag a event from the iPhoto tap, the problems begins. I've choosed a Photo album theme, and I've dragged two events from iPhoto to the layout. When I save the layout or upload the site, things goes crazy. Either one or both albums disappear OR pictures from the iWeb theme are replacing my own pictures. I've tried using the "publish site" button or the publish entire site from the pull down menu, but the result is the same.
Is there anyone who can help me?
    Thanks,
    Nick

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. There may be several things a fault. First launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys depressed and follow the instructions to rebuild the library. Select all options. Next delete the iWeb preference file, com.apple.iWeb.plist, that resides in your User/Library/Preferences folder, repair disk permissions and reboot. See if that will help the situation.

  • IWeb Picture hhelpp

I have Mac OS X 10.4 and iWeb v. 2.4 (because you need newer Mac software for 3.01). When dragging and dropping images into the pictures page grid the picture look great, but when i click on them, they do not show up and my mac freezes up. Likewise, when i attempt to publish the site to a folder, it freezes up when it gets to the pictures page on the publisher and then it gives me an unknown error. iWeb seems to be freezing up during other times as well for about 30 seconds then going back to normal. If anyone could help, I'd appreciate it.

Try deleting the iWeb preference file, com.apple.iWeb.plist, that resides in your User/Library/Preferences folder and rebooting. See if that makes any difference.
If not then create a new photo page in your site, add the photos again, delete the problem page and try again.

  • Size of photos on my website i'm making on iweb - pictures too big ?

    Hello
I've had a look on some other posts but i'm not sure. I am a bit clueless sorry. I hope you can help.
I am using iWeb to build my website, and I will be putting photos on my website, do I have to resize them? Or adjust them in some way?
Is there a maximum amount of photos i should put on each page?
    my pictures range from about
average 200 - 400KB each and a few of 590KB each. I think they are all jpeg
I want my site to be quick, I want to show my pics but don't want people to leave the site if its slow to load.
I will be using FTP to host it, not sure who the host is yet. Will that affect anything as i'm not using .mac ?
    Thanks for reading my post

No need to resize your pictures as iWeb will create thumbnails or resize accordingly for you, around 10-50 KB. Even the pictures in the slideshow will be resized automatically to around 100-150KB.
If you do not use .Mac as your hosting company you will need to use a two step process when publishing, first you publish to a folder then you need to FTP the files to your hosting company. With .Mac it's a one step process and only the changes get sent up where as publishing to a folder means re-publishing your entire site each time, very time consuming. One other nice feature with .Mac I found is the slideshows come out really cool with a nice black background and the pictures automatically change every few seconds. Also you have a film strip at the top to select an individual picture. With a 3rd party hosting company the user has to manually flip each picture, not much of a slideshow.
    Hope that helps

  • Iweb pictures faded

this problem just started happening in the last week or so for me.  i usually create an album in iphoto then use that to build the photo page in iweb.  everything looks fine until i hit save in iweb.  when i do that all my photos get lighter as if the brightness or exposure gets cranked up.  anyone know what's going on?  this is driving me crazy.
i have optimize images on import  in iweb unchecked.  i edit my jpgs in photoshop and use save for web.  i used to just do save as, but now tried the save for web to see if that helped and it didn't.
    here's what i mean.
    original: http://www.ryanmiles.us/misc/DSC_5440.1.jpg
after saving in iweb: http://www.ryanmiles.us/Ryan/Automotive_Albums/Pages/ERTC_7-2-11_files/Media/DSC _5440.1/DSC_5440.1.jpg

Did you ever find a solution to this problem?  I'm having the same issue.
    Thanks!

  • Why don'y my iweb pictures show up in google chrome?

THe picture files show up in safari and firefox, but not in chrome...why??

Local files do not work properly in Chrome - you need to publish to a server to test in this browser.
Otherwise you can set up your own server on your Mac for testing - System Preferences/Internet & Wireless/Sharing/Web Sharing

  • Iweb picture gallery commands

When a photo is clicked on to view in gallery , words "previous" and "next" appear below the enlarged photo in grey. Above are words "back to album" and "download". I dont like the grey color of the text, it disappears into my background--the value is too similar. Is there anyway to change the color of this text? or how about placing them elsewhere? Its impossible to hilight as it just turns red when you roll over it...... thanks

You can change photos page font style, font color and its hyperlink color (hover, visited, rtc) in your photos page CSS file. CSS file can be found in your photos_files folder.
Open it with a text editor and search for a { , a:visited { and a:hover { and change color in those blocks.
or how about placing them elsewhere?
Yes, but you need to understand how photos page javascript widgets work and then write your own javascript to move them.

  • IWeb and full resolution pictures for download

I finally got a good camera and wanted to share those glorious 12MP (3-4MByte) pictures via iWeb. I'd not paid much attention before now, but iWeb is fond of "optimizing" and reducing the size of pictures in order to save space and improve upload and download times. Even if you uncheck "optimize" in preferences, and select "download full resolution" in the photo inspector, I've found that some times you get the full multi-megabyte picture, then for reasons unknown to me, most other pictures have been reduced from 1/4 to 1/10 the original file size and the resolution has been reduced, say form 3000x4000 pixel to 768x1024 (seems arbitrary ...).
How to deal with this. Nothing direct that I can find: uncheck optimize works for a bit, them reverts; full size download refers to the size after such "optimizing." I think it's a bug, but maybe others think it's a feature.
My indirect work around: use your public folder on idisk in me.com. Create a folder structure to mirror your iWeb picture album structure to simplify life for your guest. Password protect it if you want some privacy.
Then go ahead and let iWeb optimize, and select the download size you want (maybe "medium" is fine for some users, for example).
But include on each picture or album page a hyperlink to your me.com public folder: the link will look something like https://public.me.com/<your me.com name here>. If you've specified a password, it will be requested when someone uses the link. I don't think there is any finer grain hyperlink available to your public folder - for example, to the sub folders you create to mirror your album structure.
The public idisk options are in preferences in idisk on iWeb.
If you only want to share a few pictures, it may be easier for the user to share individual file with a similar hyper link set up for each one using link outside the picture container object (can't be inside), or for each picture on the detail page (the comment, such as the image name, can be made a clickable element (hyper link). If you have tens or more pictures to share at once, this method is pretty inconvenient.
The sharing options for individual files are available when you select file via idisk in me.com
So, there it is. Hope this suggestion helps someone.

PS: Yes, I've offered feedback to Apple about this lack of flexibility in iWeb.

If you only want to share a few of the larger files zip them and put them in a folder titled Pictures in your iDisk/Web/Sites folder. Then create a thumbnail or text hyperlink to them at http://web.me.com/MMeAccount_Name/Pictures/FileName. That way they will immediately download when the link is selected.
A viewable version of the photo can be placed on the page and linked to the larger zipped version on your iDisk.

  • Picture alignment in the iweb page

hi guy, I have a issue with iweb picture and words.
If you are typing a article, there are always a situation you wanna insert a picture in between, but if I drag a photo from iphoto or Aperture, it always not align in the words. I mean the picture is actually above the word, you will need to type many 'enter's to create the space for the picture.
Is there a easy way to let the picture to insert into the page and cause the word to go around it? Or just simply space out for the picture that I insert?
    thanks.
    Jack

Jack ~ It's an old iWeb '06 tutorial, but take a look at the part beginning "We can wrap text around an object" here:

  • Can't control the icon iweb generates on iweb gallery album and movie page

Okay - here's the problem. I make a great imovie - share it to the .mac web gallery and imovie sets the icon and I don't seem to have any control over the image it displays. It seems to take part of a screen shot of the first few seconds of the movie but I want to change what is displayed and can't figure out how to determine what image is used for the icon of the movie on the iweb gallery page. I have several movies on the page and want to have a logo displayed - not part of the logo. You can see my frustration at calldrew.com and click on the link for iweb pictures and movies. Thanks so much for any help!

Now I haven't actually tried it but I'm guessin you want to modify the 'poster.jpg' file located in your idisk/Web/Sites/_gallery/xxxxx

  • How to send a photo to a forum full quality

    HI:
Pardon my lack of knowledge but I recently got back into photography and joined a few photo forums, I would like to post some pictures but I am told that I need a hosting service like pbase which has a fee.
I have a .Mac acount and use the iWeb and backup.
Does the .MAC have the ability to be a host for pictures.
I would like to show a picture within the forum reply and/or posting box. In other words what I am typing into right now.
The photo forums have the ability to show a photo with out having to click to a link.
An example of a WEB SITE would be:
    http://forums.dpreview.com/forums/forum.asp?forum=1030
The web name is digital photography review.
I asked how on the web site and they recommended pbase.com
I asked if they knew about Apple and could not get anybody to respond.
My last resort would be to set up a iWeb and direct them to it, two questions come to mind:
    (1) I remember reading that the iWeb pictures that are transfered from iPhoto lose quality . if true, would a transfer from PE 4 or nikon photo software be better quality or does everything get compressed.
    (2) can i direct them to a particular photo within the iWeb Folder ?
Sorry for the obvious lack of knowledge but I am still amazed what the digital cameras can do
    Greg
    thanks,

  • Can others upload to my site?

I have created an iWeb picture gallery with a bunch of pictures from an event. Many other people took pictures also. I would like for them to be able to upload their pictures to my site, rather than have them email them to me 2 or 3 at a time for me to post. Is this possible in iWeb 1.1.2?
    Thanks,
    Buck

    Buck:
Welcome to the Apple Discussions. No, that can't be done in iWeb 1. Actually you will need to upgrade to iLife 08 so you can use iPhoto 08 to create a web gallery which can be setup so viewers can upload to it either by email or via a browser. You can then add that iPhoto gallery to an iWeb page like shown here or embed the actual gallery in an iWeb page using the HTML Snippet as demonstrated here.
The bottom line is that only a web gallery created in iPhoto 08 can let viewers upload to it.

  • I add pictures to existing web page using iweb(3.0.1) and new pictures show in all browsers EXCEPT firefox. Previous patches seem only good for iweb 2.X

web page created with iweb (3.0.1). worked great in firefox, then I added additional photos to an existing web page. All other browsers see these new pictures EXCEPT firefox. There seems to have been a previous issue with new pages, but fix appears only fro iweb2.x
    == This happened ==
    Every time Firefox opened
== new photos added to existing page

Do you see any error messages about getElementsByClassName in the Tools > Error Console ?
That was the problem with content generated with an older version of iWeb.
Content that has been generated with such an older version needs to be regenerated with that never version and uploaded to the web server.
Never versions of iWeb should cause any problems.
    Can you post a link?
See https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=405903 - iWeb 2.x/iWeb 08 sites with photos or slideshows do not work in Gecko browsers (Bug 405903#c69)

  • Cannot import a word document with Pictures into iWEB

I have a small word document that has embedded pictures included in the document when i try to copy it to a page in iWEB i get the text but no pictures, i assume this is because it has no media placeholder included and iWEB doesn't recognize the pictures and create Media Holders, how do i get round this?, when i try to overlay a picture directly onto the web page I cannot configure the WRAP Text in the text inspect panel, so the text and the pictures format looks clumsey
    Anyone any ideas?
    Thx

OK, but were are they saved? I have looked in the folder were the document is saved and there is nothing .....
I tried to Copy and Paste an image into the text box and yes at first glance it appears to be "in the Box" but on my system it is actually overlaying the text box, ie I cannot control the picture location from within the text box.
If you understand what I am trying to say
