IWeb posting to Amazon AWS?

My wife has a website she has created on iweb and was published to mobile me. I was going to move it over to Amazon AWS as a host and I am having trouble having iweb post to it via FTP. Has anyone else been successful using iweb on AWS via FTP? If so what was the trick?

Error when adding Amazon AWS account to CAL

Recently I've registered for CAL and would like to try SAP HANA Developer edition. I followed tutorial about how to deploy SAP HANA using CAL and Amazon AWS account. One of the steps was to add AWS account (using public and secret keys) to CAL account. When I'm trying to do it, I'm receiving following error "An error from Amazon Web Services occurred: AMAZON : null". My AWS account is valid, but this is a corporate account and I'm not the root user. Does anybody know how to solve this?

could you please make sure, if you prepared your AWS account, as described in the FAQ page:
(the IAM roles setup is mandatory for using CAL) and your credit card should be provided in AWS account.

Apple documentation says that all Photo Stream content is encrypted. Yet while using wireshark to fix my privatizing web proxy's Photo Stream connection, I observed that iPhoto's connection to Photo Stream via Amazon AWS is unencrypted over port 80. Here's the packet capture that shows the unencrypted header, request ID, access key, signature, and so forth:

The content is "application/octet-stream" and I was not able to identify as gzipped or any other content -- I presume that its encrypted, but I am unable to determine this. Does anyone know what this is? Anyone know which encryption protocol Apple uses for Photo Stream? Or why Photo Stream is communicating with Amazon AWS over port 80?

Not only Photo Stream but also the UBD process that handles iCloud Documents connects to Amazon and Microsoft servers via port 80. How do I check if info is handled encrypted or not?

Azure GreatPlains and Amazon AWS

We have a client with an inhouse server running MS GreatPlains which talks via a VPN to other database which they host on Amazon AWS EC2.
I'm wanting to find out if it is possible to move their MS Great Plains to Azure Dynamics GreatPlains and have a VPN between it and Amazon AWS, so that their GreatPlains can still talk to their AWS hosted server?

Ubd and Amazon AWS

I have Lion and Little Snitch installed.
After upgrade to Lion from Snow Leopard I revised all firewall rules and didn't get any requests from Little Snitch for standard system daemons until today.
While I was browsing web using Safari a Little Snitch window popped up and tell me that ubd (ubd is the ubiquity server process. It is primarily used for "Mobile Documents".) is trying to access us-nca-00001.s3-external-1.amazonaws.com host using https protocol.
I already have three rules for ubd in place in Little Snitch:
- allow TCP to port 443 for domain blob.core.windows.net
- allow any connection to domain apple.com
- allow any connection to domain icloud.com
Is it safe to allow ubd to access Amazon AWS cloud?

I've found the following:
UBD is the ubiquity server process. It is primarily used for "Mobile Documents". There are no configuration options to ubd, and users should not run ubd.

My little snitch is seeing requests from fdb2:e318:ed70:5efe:129a:ddff:fe65:b513 on ports 58867 and 58895. According to Apple's well know TCP and UDP ports support page, this is in the XSAN range. I have XSAN in my system preferences but it's not enabled. Could it be that UBD is being used for iCloud documents and those are running on XSAN? I'd love it if someone could explain this.

If have enabled my Mobile Documents folder on my mac to sync files between Macs using iCloud. What's weird is that dropping files into this folder cause Little Snitch to want to send ubd TCP traffice to Amazon over port 443 the SSL port to us-nca-00001.s3-external-1.amazonaws.com. I did a little tracing and found that us-nca-0001.... is owned by MarkMonitor which is a brand identiy web firm for large companies who want to protect their brand. I've denied traffic to this site as I'm not clear what it's for and the files sync between my Macs just fine. Here are some URLs about what I just mentioned in this bullet:

Berkeley DB Java Edition and Amazon AWS/EC2, EBS

In a previous OTN thread titled [BerkeleyDB and Amazon EC2/S3|http://forums.oracle.com/forums/thread.jspa?messageID=2627679&tstart=0] questions were raised about using Berkeley DB Java Edition on AWS/EC2. Specifically,
(1) Does JE work on AWS/EC2, and
(2) Can S3 be used as a persistent store for JE.
To follow up on this, recently I have done some work validating JE on AWS and am happy to report that it works fine (there should be no surprise there). I have run it under 32b and 64b Ubuntu distros with Java 6, but I have no reason to think that it doesn't work on other platforms.
On the second question, I did no work with S3 as a persistent store. Rather, I ran JE with both the Instance Local Storage and with an EBS volume as Environment storage. In the Instance Local Storage case, AWS/EC2 makes no guarantees of durability if the instance fails. In the EBS case, the durability guarantees are much stronger. Both of these storage mechanisms worked fine with JE.
I call attention to the performance that I observed with EBS on an m1.large instance type. Raw write/fsync operations were on the order of 1.99 msec which is quite fast. Yes, we currently plan to only offer replication for Java 1.5. Our motivations are split between the speed consideration and the codeline issues. We've seen better performance with 1.5. Also taking full advantage of the type safety and concurrent support in 1.5 can end up affecting implementation choices significantly, and can make 1.4 code and 1.5 code diverge a lot.
As for bug fixing on the 1.4 releases, we don't yet have an official plan. We care very much about supporting our open source users and have been able to provide backwards patches where critical in the past. However, the cost of backporting between 1.5 and 1.4 may be high for some bug fixes, and we'll probably have to decide case by case.

IWeb post to .mac error

I created a web page in iWeb. I get an error when I publish it. It originally worked, but when I updated the content, I got an error. "An error occurred while publishing file "/web/Sites/iWeb/..."
How do I get this web page to post to my .mac account?

Sorry I don't have any good advise other than to 'wait it out' if 'publish to a folder' work.
Got the same problem here, 1st noticed it yesterday. I suspect something to do with the server because I can iDisk & .Mac shows 'status operational'. Had the same problems several times before, & the publishing problem would mysteriously disappear.
It's frustrating but since it's a new year, I try to be calm & 'enjoy' the downtime...

I have had a blogger address for years and do not want to change address.
But now have a Mac and would like to design in Iweb, to be posted on blogger site.
Want comments available. Can no longer get MobileMe account.
Can I do this and how please?
IWeb is much easier to work with my photos, and I enjoy the freedom it allows.

I created a page, but when I go to publish, iWeb is greyed out and I cannot choose to publish there under applications. So I published to desktop, but when I go to try to visit, it says the address does not exist.
Safari can’t find the server.

Why is iWeb posting both my blog and the individual entries

My problem is the the items I want to delete have somehow been uploaded as individual pages AND as part of our blog "At Home in Milwaukee."
Example:
in iWeb I have
At Home in Milwaukee
Entries
Archive
On .Mac, after I publish I get
At Home in Milwaukee
Once an Eagle
Sandra’s Trudy Blu...
Sandra’s Trudy Blu...
The bottom three items are the last three entries in the blog.
Since these pages are all part of the blog; if I delete them in iWeb, they will be deleted from the blog. Every time I add a new entry to the blog, it uploads as part of the blog AND as a separate page. I have no idea why it is doing this or whether it is occuring in .Mac or iWeb. Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks, Sandra

That's odd, this question gets answered several times a day.
iWeb always creates this structure, that's how it has worked for over 3 years now. You seem to have chosen to make your sitename, blog, and pagename all identical to you personal domain name. I think that is not a great idea. At least your sitename and pagenames are still under your control. Change them to "jh" and "blog" or whatever you want to avoid some of the ugly duplication.
If you don't want to see your sitename in the browser address bar, you can manually remove that folder, but any RSS Subscribe links will not work then.
The url of your site that you give to people is of course just www.myname.com.

Streaming for Android devices using Amazon AWS and Adobe FMS 4.5

I have created a live stream using Amazon Web Services and Adobe Flash Media Server 4.5.
AWS provides me with both a .f4m and .m3u8 file, to use in <object><embed> and <video> tags, respectively.
The .f4m loads fine on my desktop browser, and the .m3u8 file loads fine on my iOS device. However, my Android devices will not load either file.
What code/solutions are there to get this to play on Android devices?

Few additional things which I just came across while setting up for live stream on my Android from AWS are as follows:
1. for the first time when I tried to run the live stream on my android app, it didnt run at all and I thought your concerns are valid for an instance :-) .
2. Later, I killed the application from task manager, restarted it cleanly and again provided the url and it streamed without issues.
Please also ensure that:
- You had put a crossdomain.xml file under <fmsinstalldirectory>/webroot folder.
- You have provided the correct stream name in the <media> tag in Manifest.xml file inside <fmsinstalldirectory>/livepkgr/events/_definst_/liveevent folder
(hopefully you have done it since you are already playing it on PC)
You may also like to cehck the apache logs inside <fmsinstalldirectory>/Apache2.2/logs/access_logs folder to find whether your Android device request is reaching to the server.
Hope these steps will help you in osloating the problem.

Getting good performance from Amazon AWS EBS disks

Hi, I am new here, so please let me know if I should be posting somewhere else.
We are using the Amazon cloud and striped EBS disks for Oracle DB 11g. We have done many tests trying to get good performance from the disks but it is still lacking. I am looking for some Oracle best practices for how to best set up the disks in Amazon. Or if any of you have suggestions of good parameters.

Oracle talked much about cloud and they did very little, Oracle cloud computing is amateur for performance testing.
Oracle deployed one EBS AMI (Oracle Enterprise Database) to APAC (Asia Pacific region), later on they withdrew that AMI, any one used that AMI to build an infrastructure they couldn't re launch that AMI.
By now Oracle has no one single EBS AMI in Asia Pacific region!
As you can see from this forum, it's not monitored by Oracle cloud people, many times we tried to contact them for urgent AMI we needed they simply don't reply back.
You could find much documents, presentations and nice animations talking about Oracle cloud but oracle has nothing to do on Amazon cloud so far, so try to find alternatives.

Does Amazon(AWS) support hosting OS X server ?

Our company is trying to support some mac clients internally and plan to set up Apple magic triangle and doesn't like to purchase additional hardware so we plan to use AWS and i have looked up for a while to find out whether Amazon hosts OS X servers but i didn't find any. Can anybody please point me in the right direction as to how .?

Of course. Moreover, all Macs that can run OS X Mavericks are able to run OS X Mavericks Server.
Open the Mac App Store and purchase OS X Server. When the download finishes, the OS X Server setup will appear, so follow its steps.
OS X Server is designed to work in small networks, so in this case, near any Mac works

ColdFusion 10 is not sold on AWS any more, but it is still supported. ColdFusion 11 will be available on AWS soon. We are working on it. We will announce it on Social Media. Stay updated.
