We purchased a domain name from GoDaddy and created a website on iWeb for try rhubarb.com. It is published, but it does not show up in a Google search. How do we get it to appear in a Google search?

Time Machine to recover iWeb publication

Hello there again
following help from Old Toad re revert to save question... I seem to have lost 2 previously successfully published sites that I created using iWeb 08.
My question is...
How do I get Time Machine to recognise and recover those sites. I have them in the back up (I presume, considering this is what Time Machine is very much for) but when I click on the (what i think is the correct) icon, it simply shows me a 'quick look' title page for that folder. I don't know how to get to the contents. Can anyone out there offer assisstance???
I have looked for a time machine discussion here on the forum, but to no avail and have looked at missing manuals, and am running out of browse-time. So, sorry if I am posting this in the wrong place. Please let me know if so and I will re-direct.

Cath ~ iWeb's key Domain file is what you need to recover. It's normally located in the +~/Library/Application Support/iWeb+ folder (although it can be moved). See this Apple doc: _Recovering items using Time Machine and Spotlight_. And there's a forum dedicated to Time Machine here.
By the way, rather than posting again, you can edit a post within 15 minutes of posting — as long as it has not yet been replied to. Just click on the pencil icon: in the reply you want to edit. Then make your changes and click on the Edit Message button to post those changes.

Problem with iWeb 09, after the publication in a local file.

*Subject: problem with iWeb 09, after the publication in a local file, i can't see my blog, nor my photos, but before that all was working fine.*
After the publication in the local file, I see all my pages, but there is a mistake on the page "Blog" where I just can see the top of my page, it's cut and I can't see it entirely, so I can't see the inputs while I should see 3 news or 3 inputs. And it's the same for the "Photos" page where the page is cut, I can't see the photos, and it's just written : "Put the slide show and subscribe".To finish, when I want to activate the comments, it doesn't work neither.
Please help me.

The comments feature is only available when you publish to the MobileMe server, so I don't think you can use it when you publish to a local file.

Publication Iweb avec Gandi simple hosting?

Je viens d'obtenir une instance et un nom de domaine sur Gandi.
Lorsque je rentre l'ensemble des informations dans Iweb, je bloque sur 'chemin direction'. J'ai essayé de rentrer les adresses lus dans les tutoriaux, mais rien ne marche.
J'ai bien remplacé mon nom de domaine par ce que je pensais être l'adresse de mon site mais apparement je dois faire une erreur. Si quelqu'un peux m'aider à remplir l'ensemble des champs utiles à la publication de mon site cela sera génial.

If your server is set up properly you should be able to leave the Directory/Path field blank like the first example on this page...

Publication of photos from iweb to mobile me produce an error

I am no longer able to publish photos from iweb to my mobile me site
The process starts well; but some minutes after, it stops at a file (not always the same) as if the time was up or the size too large (I have plenty of room in Mobile me).
It has worked some months ago for the first set of photos ...

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Try the following:
1 - go to the System/MobileMe preference pane and log out of MMe.
2 - login with a bogus username and password. This clears the caches.
3 - login with your correct username and password.
4 - launch iWeb and try again.
If that doesn't help continue:
1 - delete the iWeb preference file, com.apple.iWeb.plist, that resides in your User/Library/Preferences folder.
2 - go to your User/Library/Caches/com.apple.iWeb folder and delete the contents.
3 - reboot.
4 - launch iWeb and see if you can publish.
If that doesn't help:
5 - move the domain file from your User/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder to the Desktop.
6 - launch iWeb, create a new test site and save.
7 - go to the your User/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder and delete the new domain file.
8 - move your original domain file from the Desktop to the iWeb folder.
9 - launch iWeb and try again.

I'm new in this mac world, and i tried to build a personal site in iWeb, and there was no problem, "the site was published to my local folder". I can see the site when i click the index file in my site folder, but how can i publish him without a MobileMe account? Thank you all in advance for your help!

You need a web hosting service. Follow the directions provided by the host to upload.
If desired, put the files in the /Library/WebServer/Documents/ folder and start Web Sharing from the Sharing pane of System Preferences. Hosting them on your own computer requires that port 80 be open on your router(if any) and that the computer is on and awake all the time.

IWeb unexpectedly quits with publication

Every time I try to publish changes to my site iWeb unexpectedly quits and will only publish a few of the changes. I'm using Mountain Lion and using version 3.0.4 (601). I have already followed the steps from this discussion: https://discussions.apple.com/message/21160412#21160412 and it didnt seem to do anythign!

... and you are using V 3.0.4, it may be because you are uploading with the iWeb FTP.
The application will show an error or quit if there are any bad files names - ones with spaces and/or special characters in them. Usually the culprits are image file names.

Mark, it's EERIE that you should say this to me today because this is exactly what I have been thinking! I can put a song on a page with one eye shut now, and I can zip around those files pretty well (except for the recent fiasco where I didn't even look at the right folder). I also notice that the level of my writing is sounding more technical and familiar with digital world jargon. I remember how you told me I could do it, and you were right. You all were right and I feel more knowledgeable and at a point where I suspect that I can take steps on my own. HTML is a strange land, but just being able to edit that .js file and FIND it by navigating for it in Text Edit has made me feel much more competent.
Before iWeb I didn't realize what Text Edit was for. I used it to take quick fast short notes. I never understood that concept of "opening something up in so and so application." The first time I clicked OPEN in Text Edit, and I saw all those danged files staring at me with beady eyes, I wanted to throw a white hanky and run for the hills. Not any more!

IWeb version 3.0.4 & adsense

What is the correct code to replace the Google Adsense Widget which USED to work beautifully? I want to stay with the "live ad" sizes already on my webpage but these are now blank on publication.
I apologize if I am asking a stupid question, but I really can't figure this out. Can you give me step by step?

The code you pasted are two divs. Widget1 and widget2.
So you have two adsense pieces on your page.
The Google page shows a JavaScript.
Copy your own code there.
Paste each Javascript piece of code between each div

<div widget2>YOUR JAVASCRIPT</div>
A HTML snippet probably does not work because the javascript needs the content of the webpage.
So you have to add the code in the published page as described.
You asked this question before. Apparently nobody knows or cares about adsense.

Using acrobat pro 9 for create web publication

I have seen a few publication for that I would like to do but not sure how to. Here is a example for what I’d like to create: http://www.bluetoad.com/publication/?i=6845
I have acrobat pro 9 and in-design. Basically I have a 28 page publication that I know how to save as a pdf, would but like take it, after it is in acrobat, and save as a web publication. I have using iWeb for my web authoring program. Well if anyone would look that link about, I this I like to know to do. Not even sure in it can to done in iWeb. If not and there is another way that would be great as well.

You didn't forget to Advanced menu and set Reader Rights.Once you do that then, they can save and send back to you.

Help. My site published but is not saved in iWeb

I am completely flummoxed. I put together a one-page site yesterday and published it to Mobile Me fine. But when I went into iWeb today to make some changes the finished, published version of the site is not there. All I have is the original template from before I started work on it.
How come it hasn't saved into iWeb on publication?
And how do I get the finished version of the site back into iWeb so I can edit it?

First, download Find Any File and use it to search for "domain.sites" to see if there are more than one domain file.
If there is try the other to see if it contains your site. If there is no other domain file but the one in your Users/Home/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder, try the following:
delete the iWeb preference file, com.apple.iWeb.plist, that resides in your Home()/Library/Preferences folder.
go to your Home()/Library/Caches/com.apple.iWeb folder and delete its contents.
launch iWeb and try again.
If that doesn't help continue with:
move the domain file from your Home/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder to the Desktop.
launch iWeb, create a new test site, save the new domain file and close iWeb.
go to the your Home/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder and delete the new domain file.
move your original domain file from the Desktop to the iWeb folder.
launch iWeb and try again.

I tried to implement photo albums using iweb and got a publishing error.

I tried to implement photo albums using iweb and got a publishing error. All was fine with my site until I added the photo album page. The software doesnt say what the error is exactly, only that it is a publishing error to my ftp
Exact message "There was an error communicating with the FTP server. Try again later, or check with your service provider."
If I reduce the albums inside to 1 then it seems to work but that takes away from the usefullness of multiple albums.
my iWeb version is 3.0.4 (601)

Publish your site to a folder on your hard drive to see if the publication will proceed successfully and open the site locally with your browser to confirm all of the alums are there and work. If they do try the following:
delete the iWeb preference files, com.apple.iWeb.plist and com.apple.iWeb.plist.lockfile, that resides in your Home() /Library/Preferences folder.
go to your Home()/Library/Caches/com.apple.iWeb folder and delete its contents.

launch iWeb and try again.
If you're still not able to publish from iWeb to your server download and use the free Cyberduck to upload your website files to the server. Users have found that CD has been successful when iWeb had problems.

IWeb keeps quitting during publishing process

I've been using iWeb with my MobileMe account for over 6 months now, there are always some occasional publishing problems, especially since I travelled to Australia where the internet connection doesn't seem to be too fast. But now I've hit a dead end and nothing seems to help any more.
Every time I try to publish my blog it gets stuck on the creating page: "Archive" bar and then quits. This has been going on for days and I have no idea where to even start looking for possible problems with my Archive page... Publishing to a local folder doesn't seem to give any better results either. At first I thought it had something to do with enabling comments, but I've tried either way and the result is still the aggravating "iWeb quit unexpectedly" message.
I have another website built in iWeb that I've only recently started publishing through MobileMe. This one goes through all the 'creating page' process without problems, but it always seems to get stuck on the last 1-5% of publication process, no matter how long i leave the program running. The end result is a "publish error" message, but at least the updates are online...
I've updated iWeb and tried several other things. I really need to publish my blog updates! Please help!

I have tried several different things such as emptying the cache and deleting the iWeb preferences. I also created a new page and published it to a local folder, it worked perfectly well. Finally I tried publishing my blog to a different folder than I usually do. Same problem persisted: the application froze and quit while the process bar was on 'creating Archive page' (no error message displayed). When I opened the folder that had been created I discovered that Archive files had in fact been created and functioned properly. This means that the files that come next in the publishing process are the ones causing problems: Photos. In fact, I've tried to open the photo album page and every time I click on it the application just quits. Can't even delete the page to get rid of the problematic files...

Posting slideshow on iweb from iphoto

okay, i'm new to mac and website design. i would like to know how i can add a slideshow that i made in iphoto and place it on iweb?
i'm using the 60 day trial. is this feature not available to me? in iphoto >share > send to iweb> the options aren't highlighted.
i'm very lost and any help would be more than appreciated.

I am not using the 60-day trial and I don't have that option available either. My best guess would be that slideshows as such cannot be sent directly to iWeb. What can be sent to iWeb, is a photo album containing the images that you built the slideshow with in iPhoto, and they will then become a photo page in iWeb. Once you have a photo page in iWeb, and publish it, whoever visits that page can view the photos as a slideshow in his or her browser. You won't have music that way, though.
Alternatively, you could export your slideshow from iPhoto as a QuickTime movie, and put that on your website on a movie template. Be advised though that iPhoto tends to create large files this way, and they may be too large for publication on a web page. I just did a quick test and 17 photos exported at medium size generated an 18MB movie... I believe iWeb advises us to keep movies under 10MB. Maybe someone here knows of a trick to compress that more.

Movies on iWeb 09

I just finish creating my first iWeb 09 web and after getting through the learning curve, I found it to be a good & simple intro tool to creating websites.
But, I did run into two problems:
1) all hyperlink colors changed from page to page, even though I was consistent in assigning the colors with each page, and within each page.
2) one web page, started with a elagent blank page, has three simple movies/animation. They work fine in the iWeb 09 application, but when published to my local drive, I have a problem. Viewing the local publication on Safari, I see only one working movie. The other two have an icon indicating the file did not load. Yet, if I right click the icons I can download the file to by system.
Is there a limit of number of movies per page? what about podcasts?
suggestions? and No I have not published it to my GoDaddy account yet.
