IWeb published site different than designed

I scrolled through numerous pages and was surprised I did not see this problem already described.
I design a simple (though long) page using iWeb. Text and images only. The images are embedded, but non are overlapping. It looks great as I am working on it in the iWeb window. I publish it to a folder on my laptop then view either by using "visit published site" or going to the directory and firing up the index.html. There are lots of problems - images have been moved, fonts are wrong (there looks to be a "format persistence" problem -- a type or size will continue for a few extra words. I edit, making sure the fonts are the ones I want and re-publish with the same poor results. Not very WYSIWYG at all! I'd try to edit the html code, taking the iWeb written stuff as a pretty good start, but it is not very pretty html.
So, at this point iWeb is a completely useless program! As many others are using it without this problem, there must be some solution. Anyone had this issue and found a way to fix it?
thanks

What is the web address of the published site so we can see what you are referring to?
While waiting for that:
A common reason why formatting on a published page will not match what you see in iWeb is that objects (pictures, movies, text boxes, etc.) are overlapping. When the web browser goes to try and interpret that overlap the results can vary (this can effect the display of fonts as well).
Go to the page in question in iWeb and click on 1 object. Go to Edit > Select All.
You will see all the objects on the page with their boundaries activated. Move any items that are overlapping so they have their own space around them.

  • IE Scolling/Lag issues with IWeb Published Site

Has anyone had any issues with scrolling/lag with Internet Explorer on an iWeb published site? I have a site that runs great on Firefox and safari but terrible on Internet Explorer. I'm thinking it may be the template/design i used?
Anyone every seen this? Any suggestions?
    Thanks,
    JC

I've only ever used the Modern Frame, so I can't say if there would be a performance issue using a different template. I have about three pictures on each page.
I noticed on your site that you're using the "reflection" effect on some of your pictures. Just for the purpose of testing, perhaps you could try turning off that effect and then re-uploading your site to see if that is causing some of the problem? I believe the reflection is rendered using javascript code, which may be causing the poor performance in IE. If that does turn out to be the problem, you can decide whether it's worth it to keep the effect or not.
By the way, I don't get that same error message in IE when I open your Videos page. Maybe it's caused by a security setting in your IE being set at a more restrictive level?

  • Published page different than edited draft

OK, this one is very interesting! I've edited the page, it
looks great in draft form. I publish it and suddenly one of the
edited parts has a different type style and even an extra word that
does NOT exist in the edited draft!! How is this
    possible????

  • Published Page Looks different than designed in IWeb

It's the oddest thing... I designed the site, using a blank template and building it from scratch. Every page displays fine, except for this one. It looks perfect in IWeb, but when published, even to my desktop folder, certain parts of two text boxes are transparent, showing the background behind it.
Here is the link to the page so you can see what I'm talking about:
    http://www.terrybowdenfootballcamp.com/AboutTheCamps.html
Any ideas? Any help is GREATLY appreciated!
    Thanks
    Kim in FL

It appears that on the About the Camp page your text boxes don't have the fill enabled as they do in the other pages letting the page background show thru. Try clearing the text boxes and reapplying the fill. Or copy a text box from another page, replace the text with that of a problem box and see if that will fix it.
Another general fix would be to close iWeb, delete the iWeb preference file, com.apple.iWeb.plist, reboot the computer and try again.

  • Publish different than design

When I publish a page I have done in Adobe Muse, often some of the items are in a different spot (or not lined up properly) than what I have on the design page.
What is the reason for this?

  • Is iWeb 09 any different than iWeb 08?

And if so, what are the major differences?
I'm using Dreamweaver CS4, but a web designer tells me that iWeb is just as good and a lot quicker.

    From Apple's press release:
iWeb ’09 adds new iWeb Widgets, such as iSight® video and photos, a countdown timer, YouTube video and RSS feeds. New integrated FTP publishing allows you to publish your website to virtually any hosting service and updates to your site can now be automatically added to your Facebook profile.

  • Publishing pages different than ie

I'm using web page maker to publish my site and it works like a charm in ie explorer , but when i open it with firefox i can't never get the same look of my site.
It's like, the text is always in diferent spot than the picure i set.
Even with text only, the position is different in Firefox.
Does it have to do with the character set of web page maker?
As I said, it works perfectly with internet explorer.
I wouldn't like to change my web page program.
    Can anyone help me?
    Thanks in advance

Don't use (older) MS software to create web page.<br />
Those MS programs usually do not generate W3C compliant code that works in all browsers.

    Hi there,
To edit your site from one of your backed up versions, place the Domain file in User>Library>Application Support>iWeb & then launch iWeb. Update & publish.

  • Colors are previewing differently than design mode

Anyone run into this problem before.... I've got a picture that looks way darker/desaturated in design mode than it does in preview mode. It doesn't happen with all pics, but it's a little irritating.
See pics (the second one - Preview mode - is correct):

Yes same issue. On the left is design mode. On the right is the preview in the browser. The preview in the browser is correct. This site was built in the previous version of Muse.
Something needs to be done about this quickly or I see no point in using this software. It is visually inaccurate.

  • Delete old Iweb published site not saved

Hi Team, My compter crashed and I have a published website, but I dont have a backup of the files that created it. I have heard you cant download all of it and I have to start again. First, you could look at this page for help in retrieving stuff......
    http://iwebfaq.org/site/iWebBackupretrieve.html
If you rebuild the site with the same name and publish it to MobileMe, you will overwrite the original or you can go to Finder/Go/iDisk/My iDisk/Web/Sites and delete the website folder and the index.html file.

  • IWeb Publishes Site...

Then when visiting - the site is not updated to the version that was just "published." This is the first problem I have had with iWeb. I have published in the same manner time and time again without problem. What is going on?
    Specifically...
New blog entries are said to be published by iWeb - but the site does not have navigation for the new blogs. Very frustrating.

  • Format text (Preview is different than Design)

On my WIP site I cannot get the text in one box center aligned. It looks fine in Design but not in Preview or online. Have tried everything I can think of.
Please look at brownelllibrary.businesscatalyst.com on the page "About Us" under Limits and Loan periods and lt me know how to solve this problem.
    Thank you.

    Hi,
When you edit the text of the text box you can press 'Ctrl+A' on windows or 'Command+A' on MAC to select all the text. That way you can determine the empty spaces. I'm afraid that in Muse you can't get the spaces to display like the way it does in Word.
    Check this screen shot,
I have pointed out the spaces in the text editor.
