IWEB publishing error on Snow Leopard

Help please. I've been using iWeb for years now - very successfully. Since installing Snow leopard though, I cannot publish web pages with photo's on them - ANY PHOTO. Photo gallery collections etc loads perfectly. The iWEB application just quit on me.

I've tried all articles so far on apple support site. Tried on new OS user and publishing to folder and publishing a test page. I still get an error. Publishing to folder works fine, its just when I publish to MobileMe. Also tried different network and restarting computer etc.
    Help me. Thanks.

If you are logged in OK maybe you should look at your Keychain.
    Finer/Go/Utilities/Keychain Access.app.
Try "Keychain First Aid" from the "Keychain Access" drop down menu.

  • Lost pictures in iWeb after migration to Snow Leopard

    Dear Forum,
I recently upgraded my MacBook by inserting 4 GB RAM, a 500 Gb harddisc and a brand new snow leopard. Before I did this, I made a full time machine backup, so I would be able to get back to my initial state asap. This proved to have worked for everything, except for iWeb as I discovered yesterday evening:
All my sites and pages are still there, and even the pages with published videos are still intact, but none of the pictures (and this is infact the main content of my web page) do show...
All pictures are still in my iPhoto library so i did not expect this. Also all pages are now labeled as 'changed' so my next publishing routine would take forever (given the fact that I get all my pictures back) because I publish our Kindergarten pictures since 2005 through this site.
Any suggestions? Where does iWeb store the information about where to find those pictures?
Any help would be highly appreciated!
    Thanks in advance!
    Petra

    Dear Old Toad,
I tried the first part of your suggestions, but no luck there. But doing so I suddenly thought of the fact that the situation has one other quite important issue I did not think of before:
My iPhote library and all the pictures used to be on a volume that was once the internal hard drive of my iMac that died two years ago. Since than I used this hard drive as an external drive for my MaBook (keeping the original user/pictures/ structure it always had.
After upgrading my MacBook I finally had enough room to store all material on the internal hard drive.
So I copied the content of my external Picture folder to the Picture folder of my hard drive. I use the same user name and after disconnecting the external drive I renamed the internal hard drive to the same name as the external and before the iMac used to have (iMac HD). After launching iPhoto all pictures where there and could be found in the finder by iPhoto so everything was fine so far. The same thing worked for iTunes. Only iWeb proves to have a problem. Do you still think the last part of your suggestions could work?
I tried reconnecting the original external disc, and if I do that, all pictures are visible as they used to be. The iPhoto library available in the media area is still the one from the internal hard drive though.
So, now you have the whole picture... any suggestions? Would there be a way to kind of import all pictures from the external drive into the iWeb file? I do not understand why some pictures (for the events and the blog pages with a video file on it) are stored within the package and others (all the picture pages) are not...
Thanks for any kind of advice!

  • Lost Links to MobileMe Gallery on iWeb after updating to Snow Leopard

I recently updated my OS to Snow Leopard. I appear to have lost all of my past iWeb links to my MobileMe Galleries. It is so frustrating. This is a lot of work from the past. All of the pictures still appear on Mobile Me Gallery but the iWeb site does not recognize them. The place where the pictures used to be now has a white box with text "Upload album or movie to MobileMe and then select it from this widget's menu." Why! When I try to use the MobileMe Gallery widget like I did in the past, it sees none of my galleries! Does anyone have any idea what is wrong? Thanks.
Here is what the page looks like now. You can see where the galleries used to be. --> http://web.mac.com/georgeparsons/TatnallRunPics/Home.html

Hi I just made one of my few visits to these forums because I had a problem kinda similar to yours. It was sending me nuts. Main indication of the problem was that when I went to add an album widgit it didn't show any of the albums I have in iphoto and no other fiddling back and forth republishing and the like fixed it. This was after working properly earlier in the day. I have just started to build a new website with iweb.
I then updated to the latest version of iweb, that is 3.0.1, and yes you guessed it, now its working fine. So just in case i thought i would mention what worked for me tho i see others with different fixes to the same problem. So this worked on my 2.4 MBP running 10.5.6 and iweb 3.0.1.
    Good luck

  • Quicktime plugin disconnect error in Snow Leopard

I have a bit of a problem with Quicktime X in snow leopard. We use a Codian bridge quicktime stream for classes at our college and Snow Leopard has stumped me.
A problem we run into on occation is the -3184: Disconnected error when some clients are behind firewalls due to UDP streaming. Now normally this is a quick fix as you just go under your quicktime preferences and set your transport protocol to HTTP.
Unfortunately with quicktime X apple has seen fit to completely remove any preference adjustments. Now I know you can install quicktime 7 from the disk, but this does not give the preferences back. Does anyone know how to force quicktime 7 to be used for streaming media in firefox instead of QTX? Or how to get preferences back? Or heck even to completely cripple X and just use 7?
I've got a lot of Mac using students that are stuck without classes right now.

Well. I guess I wasn't as helpful as I thought I could be.
Obviously the options are available to me because of the way I upgraded from Leopard (from Tiger, Panther and Jaguar) to Snow Leopard. Heck. I still have a working copy of QuickTime 6.5.2 on this Snow machine because it offers features not found in version 7.
My only suggestion to you would to be upgrading a machine that previously had Leopard (and QuickTime Player Pro) to Snow Leopard OS.
I don't really understand this issue and it may be more complex than I can figure out. All of the codecs (compressor/de-compressor) should be somewhere on your machine otherwise you couldn't view a file with these "legacy encoders". It's just that a QuickTime export doesn't give you the option to "use" (compress) them.
Is there a technical reason why you need Sorenson Video 3 encoder?
Here is another of my older Web pages that uses Sorenson Video 3 (in part):

    Does it work for you?

  • Iweb - Publish error - can't create the file "..."

    Hey guys,
I've seen this issue in a couple of discussions but nothing helps. When I try to publish my site I'm getting the following error note:
"Publish error. Can't create the file "...png". The disk may be damaged or full, or you may not have sufficient access privileges."
Same result whether I publish to an ftp or to a local folder.
My disk is far from full and the site is merely a few megas heavy.
The content is just text and a few photos.
I have OS version 10.6.8 and Iweb 3.0.4.
    No passwords involved.
I've tried all the tricks in the book:
Duplicating the page that won't publish.
Re-creating the page that won't publish.
    Deleting com.apple.iweb.plist from home/library/preferences
Moving my site domain to another location, creating a new site and then putting the old one back
    Deleting cache from libray/caches/com.apple.iweb
    I re-installed Ilife
    Reboots
    Banging head repeatedly again wall
Any idea what could be causing this and how to fix it?
    Pleymo

    Try the following:
delete the iWeb preference file, com.apple.iWeb.plist, that resides in your Home() /Library/Preferences folder.
go to your Home()/Library/Caches/com.apple.iWeb folder and delete its contents.
    launch iWeb and try again.
If that doesn't help continue with:
move the domain file from your Home/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder to the Desktop.
launch iWeb, create a new test site, save the new domain file and close iWeb.
go to the your Home/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder and delete the new domain file.
move your original domain file from the Desktop to the iWeb folder.
    launch iWeb and try again.

  • Disk format error running Snow Leopard

    Hi all,
simply trying to erase/reformat a LaCie 350 GB external hard drive.    I keep getting the error that the disk won't unmount. How can I get around this and does this mean I shouldn't rely on this EHD. I'm reformatting it to load up some video clips for a client.....
Thanks for any kind assistance!  This MacPro is 2008, running Snow Leopard and FC 7.  10GB Ram, 3-1T drives internal.

You might do a Safe Boot too if the restart isn't enough, or if you installed software or if TimeMachine is trying to back it up (I know it tries with most drives unless  you tell it not to, rather than ASK if  user wants to!).

Can't create the file,,,,The disk may be damaged or full, or you may not have sufficient access privileges?

What version of iWeb are you using?  How much free space do you have you on your boot drive?
Try the following general troubleshooting fix:
1 - delete the iWeb preference file, com.apple.iWeb.plist, that resides in your
         User/Home/Library/ Preferences folder.
2 - delete iWeb's cache file, Cache.db, that is located in your
User/Home/Library/Caches/com.apple.iWeb folder (Snow Leopard and Earlier).
3 - launch iWeb and try again.
NOTE: In Lion and Mountain Lion the Home/Library folder is now invisible. To make it permanently visible enter the following in the Terminal application window: chflags nohidden ~/Library and press the Return key - 10.7: Un-hide the User Library folder.

  • Quicken 2006 error after Snow Leopard upgrade

After I upgraded to Snow Leopard, when downloading transactions into my Quicken 2006 I get an OL-249 error. I researched it and it pointed me toward installing Rosetta. I did that, rebooted, and still get the exact same error.
Has anyone else had this problem? Any fixes?
How can I verify that Rosetta installed correctly?

  • Automator errors under Snow Leopard

    Hi everyone,
Since upgrading my MacBook to Snow Leopard (I have the latest 10.6.3 update), Automator behaves very erratically. The window ‘AppleScript Error; The result of a numeric operation was too large. (-2702)’ pops up frequently at various stages of opening, using, or modifying my workflows previously created under Leopard.
I still get this erratic behavior even if I try to remake my workflows from scratch in Snow Leopard. Even stranger is that I can get a workflow to behave fine for a little while, and then it starts getting crazy again. Some Automator actions (Rename Finder item, Get Specified URLs, Run Applescript) seem to be especially prone to triggering the error.
This problem is general and very annoying, and I was thus surprised to find very few threads about this issue when I searched the Apple forums (assuming I searched correctly) or using Google.
Because of this issue, I have refrained from upgrading my Mac Pro to Snow Leopard, while waiting for future updates to hopefully fix the problem (which hasn’t happened so far).
Did anyone else encounter this problem, and if so, how do you solve it?
Any hint would be much appreciated.

I was loosing hope for a solution. But running Automator in 32-bit mode does work! Thank you Lupus42.
Now I can dare to install Snow Leopard on my Mac Pro. But because of this Automator error story, I’m still anxious about making the transition. So I’ll seek the safest way to try Snow Leopard. I know I can reinstall Leopard if Snow Leopard still causes me trouble, but I’d prefer not to mess with my current system at all. I’ve heard you can upgrade a disk image of your system instead, or create a new partition on your disk. I don’t know if these options are actually feasible and better, but I’d to explore these alternatives before altering my current system. Maybe I’ll start a new thread about this if needed.
Thanks everyone for sharing your similar problems (and showing me I wasn’t crazy) and your solution to the problem.

  • "Disk is too slow or System Overload. (-10010)" errors with Snow Leopard

Since upgrading to Snow Leopard, I have been getting these error messages while using Logic Express and GarageBand. At first it seemed like a problem with the latest update to Logic Express 9, but then it started happening with GarageBand. I have been on the Logic discussion forums, but this really seems like a Snow Leopard problem. Anyone else out there having similar problems and know of any fixes?
    Thanks.

It's a new IMac purchased in July with a 345 gig drive, with 278 gig available. I'm recording to the internal drive.
It has a 2.8 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor and I had extra memory installed when I bought the machine, so it has 4GB. I don't know how many partitions on the hard drive.

  • IWeb publishing error

When I try to publish updates to my webpages I get the message - "There was an error updating .Mac." I have tried deleting the preferences file and rebooting.

Your Public Profile indicates you are using Mac OS X (10.4.6) — upgrade to 10.4.11 via Software Update and then in iWeb do a Publish All from the File menu.

  • Automator error and Snow Leopard

In Snow Leopard's Automator, I'm getting an error that says my Automator actions are not Universal, which is incorrect, since they are certainly Universal Binaries.
However, after doing some research, I've found other similar cases, and it seems that this error is misguiding, and that the Automator actions just have not been compiled to be 64-bit yet. From my quick glance in Xcode, however, if I want to make a 32/64-bit UB Action, it is only compatible with Mac OS 10.5 and above. Am I wrong in my assumption? Might it be possible to build appropriate versions of the Automator actions that will work with Mac OS 10.4 through 10.6?

My concern is how feasible is it to get a 32+64-bit and PPC/Intel hybrid Automator Action that can run on Mac OS 10.4 - 10.6.
Apple has this to say about that...
    -=-=-=-
    Automator Actions as Universal Binaries
A universal binary is executable code that can run on either PowerPC-based or Intel-based Macintosh computers.
To move a PowerPC-only project to a universal-binary project may require work involving such programming details as endianness, alignment, and calling conventions. The amount of work generally depends on the level of the source code; lower-level source code (for example, the kernel) requires more work than higher-level code (for example, an application based on Carbon).
The need to make an Automator action a universal binary depends on the language used:
    ■ AppleScript actions are platform-independent and do not require any changes to run on Intel processors.
    ■ An action that contains Objective-C code, whether a Cocoa-only action or an action that contains a mix of Objective-C and AppleScript, must be built as a universal binary to run correctly on both Intel and PowerPC processors.
For information on making universal binaries, see 'Universal Binary Programming Guidelines, Second Edition'.
