IWeb Publishing issues MobileMe/iCloud/GoDaddy Updates

Hello -
I am hoping someone can provide me some insight.
I previously created a website via iWeb and had it hosted via my MobileMe account.  With the new IOS and iCloud updates (and being that I can no longer host through MobileMe), I have transfered hosting over to GoDaddy.  I logged into MobileMe and deleted the domain, and have ensured everything is correct on the GoDaddy side of things (DNS nameservers, deletion of the old site/file folders, etc.).
Here is the current issue:
I am receiving this message when attempting to pull up the site:  "To view this page, you must log in to area “me.com” on melissafoerster.com:80."
I am confused and am not sure what else I need to do to publish my revised site.  Thank you for your help.

Thank you for your support.
I have disabled the personal domain via MobileMe.
I have deleted the CNAME record via the domain provider.
And am currently waiting for the changes.
I know that this is not an iWeb issue or an iCloud issue.  I will say though that because my MobileMe account expires in June and because the MobileMe settings have changed with the iCloud addition, I will no longer be able to publish there as of June and currently cannot make changes.  Just being proactive and making updates to my site now, makes me have to publish to a different provider.
Thank you for your help.

  • Problems with iWeb publishing to MobileMe

    Hi,
Did you have some problems since about four days on publishing with iWeb to MobileMe? In my case, when I publish my site - and I made just little changes - iWeb publish ALL the pages.
I early had this same problem, this spring, and it was a MobileMe problem; Apple just made a little update to the server and it was ok.
    I'm using iWeb'09
    Thanks

With a lot of media content have you considered other ways of adding movies or audio tracks that only require you uploading those file manually once and then linking to them. For movies this demo page has one possible method: Opening Item in a New, Precisely Sized Window. This demo page has 7 movies added that way. They don't load until the play button is selected. PhotoPresenter Animated Slideshow Themes
For audio you can use flash players or a flash jutebox. Roddy's site, iWeb for Musicians, has examples and how-to's for both. See the following pages: Music Players and the following 3 pages after it. See the Next Page button at the bottom.
I've got a couple of flash players on my demo page: Music Players.
There are many alternatives to having to load all the media each time you republish.

  • IWeb publishing without MobileMe

    Hello,
I am a beginner at making my own website.  I don't have a MobileMe account and understand it's too late to get one.  iCloud says it does not offer iWeb publishing.  I have a template that I've put a few hours into on iWeb that I would like to use, although I could start over if I had to.  Just did general searches for best rated web hosting services and read about iPage and FatCow, for example.  Should I use one of these third party sites, or is there a way to keep it within the Mac family so to speak?  I need to be able to post large files like music, photos, possibly movies, and I need to be able to password protect them so only certain people can access it, and therefore avoid copyright infringement of songs, for example.
    Thank you,
    Eileen

HostExcellence.com offers a package with one free domain name for $3.95/mo. with a 2 year committment.  You can choose any domain name you'ld like as long as it's not already taken. Buying all the variations is a bit much uhnless your website might be your only means of income.  HE also has a extended package for $7.95/mo with 3 free domain names.  You have lots of choices out there.

  • Iweb publishing to mobileme

When I create a website in iweb '09 (3.0.1) and publish to mobileme, is there a way to have the website be hppt://mywebsitename.com or does it need to be http://web.me.com/mymobilemeaccountname/iweb/mywebsitename??

    Buy a domainname.
To use a domainname, follow the instructions in your MobileMe account where you setup Personal Domain:
    https://secure.me.com/account/
Where you'll find a link to [iWeb: Using your own domain name |http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1107]
Or read it in the [MobileMe help|http://help.apple.com/mac/1/help> : Account > Setting up a Personal Domain
There's [a forum dedicated to MobileMe, Personal Domain and iWeb|http://discussions.apple.com/forum.jspa?forumID=1163]. Though it works with other applications as well.

  • Is there a movie size limit for iWeb published in MobileMe?

I'm having trouble creating a movie page in iWeb. There's an error when I try to publish it to MobileMe.
Is there a movie size limit? The video is 20 MB.

I don't know what the limit is but iWeb often indicates 10MB or less is preferred. There are alternatives to adding larger movies to a web page that don't require the movie to load until the play button is selected. See this demo page for one method: Opening Item in a New, Precisely Sized Window. A demo page with 7 movie files using this method can see here: PhotoPresenter Animated Slideshow Themes.
This second page has the other method. It is a little more involved but works nicely. Again, the move doesn't have to load until the play button is selected. It's the movie here: QT Movies via Export for Web in QT Player.

  • TS2167 iWeb: publish by ftp to GoDaddy webhosting service - get "publish error" at end of ftp session - always 1-2 files not successfully transferred - Why?

Why do I get message "Publish error There was an error communicating with the server.  Try again later, or check with your service provider" when i publish websites to webhosting service (GoDaddy.com) from iWeb 3.0.4  even though most webpages have been transferred and are marked blue?   There are always a few pages marked red after each ftp transfer?   It seems that the ftp session is terminated by web hosting service too fast for iWeb 3.0.4. to register that files have been transferred successfully.  When I check pages marked red in iWeb with browser, they are often available and functioning.     I have to add many extra webpages (which I do not want) to get iWeb to register all my pages as transferred (marked blue).  If I do not do this, all pages on website are marked "red" after I close iWeb and restart it.   This means that everytime i make one little change to one page on a website of 8-10 Gigabytes,  I often have to republish the entire site!
I think (without understanding enough/anything about ftp protocolls and termination negotiations) that iWeb is not getting enough time at end of each ftp session to register that all the pages have in fact been transferred successfully.   Could this be the explanation?  If so, how do I "slow down" the termination of ftp session by my web hosting service GoDaddy so that iWeb 3.0.4 can see that all files have been successfully transferred and therefore should be marked blue?

You're rather prone to problems, aren't you. It's not the first time.

Which is the culprit site :
         http://www.melissaveres.com
         http://www.mveres-engraver.com
And since you do not use iWeb's ftp, but publish to a folder, iWeb's job is done.
You are now 100 percent responsible for your actions.
Upload the files properly. And if you're not blind visually challenged, you can see for yourself where the files are on the server. No need for GoDaddy eyes.
And why not use iWeb's FTP. Then at least you eliminate the human error.
And no, GoDaddy won't have to help you with iWeb, because there's nothing to fix.
And practice FTP first on your computer :

  • IWeb Publishing Issues

Don't get me wrong fellow Apple gurus....but why am I always having issues utililizing Apple goods. It would be a PERFECT WORLD if the whole world was all about the fruit......BUT THEY'RE NOT. The iWeb 3.0.3 update DID fix alot of previous issues but now there are different issues. It's fantastic that it's easy to use, GUI friendly and almost makes it easy to look like a professional when your a novice, BUT and I mean a BIG BUT.... if the rest of the world cannot interpret this design with ease, pro yet not look?.....then Apple, but most of all OURSELVES, look like a chumps. Your Site may look AWESOME on some browsers, yet why does it NOT look so savy on the most common such as Explorer or the Mac friendly browsers like Firefox???? I'm sure a lot more peeps are having issues and I would love to hear your SOLUTIONS and hopefully they can solve mine.  The past few versions of the iWeb Software, I've been experiencing double image on my png files. I've also noticed that attributes I give my to my png files through iWeb such as a simple drop shadow, will display the drop shadow on the dimensions of the file itself. I hope I explained my dilemma depictively. If you have answers to my probs, please share as well as your own. I would almost worship you like a god! I'm NOT jumping ship on the Apple boat, but sometimes it can be quite frustrasting. You may get comfortability and ease with the "fruit" but sometimes on the tail end it comes with a cost.
    PLEASE HELP!!!!!

Apart from using Preview there are a few apps around that will add interesting effects to images prior to adding them to a web page...

  • IWeb publishes updates but does not upload in the FTP

    HELP!
I have a 'tried-tested-true' website that's been on the internet for 10 years. It's been updated over the years but needed much more as of today.
The updates perfectly publish within iWeb [3.0.4]. The FTP uploads the site, but when I check it on the internet [Safari 6.2.3], the former version appears.
I proceeded to troubleshoot by renaming the website and re-mounting the pages. Also, renaming the pages, but after several attempts of uploading each newer version, all efforts were to no avail. It has taken me a full day without results. That is, the original website remains on the internet, which is very outdated.
I have run out of troubleshooting ideas. All of my other websites have not had this problem. There was an issue this week with the ISP Domain Host services not connecting my site. I contacted them, but have had no response. However, I thought I would try connecting again today in case they sorted out their connectivity issues. I am able to connect to their server. I have good reason to believe the FTP is uploading the updated directory files, but for some reason when it comes to viewing the site on the internet, au contraire.
Not sure if this is an iWeb problem or my ISP domain hosting services having issues with connectivity. Whatever, it is very perplexing to me as to what to do next after the extensive amount of time I have taken troubleshooting.
I repeat myself when I say, 'HELP!'

Okay, I understand what you are referencing. I am publishing my websites to the path of 'Users'-Documents-Website Documents.
Below is a screen shot of the folder my Websites are located. Is this what you are referencing? It is Site 2 that is having issues with uploading to the domain host server of my ISP. All the other sites have been uploaded successively.
I use FileZilla as my FTP server and it has been excellent. I have tried CyberDuck, et al. FZ works perfectly well indicating all that one needs to know while uploading. If my other websites were causing the same issues, then it would mean FTP issues.
However, I believe I am on the same track you are referencing with regards to my published website is in the appropriate location on my HD. I stand to be corrected.
I believe by my contacting the Forum and reading your information that I am following protocol as I have always done with my 4 websites that upload properly. As I continue the discussion, it is becoming evident the issue is with the Domain Host server, which is not a problem to post on this Forum.
However, I posted my issue just in case it was an iWeb issue or my not following protocol correctly to publish a website. From what I am gleaning with your information, I am following protocol. Repeating myself when I say it appears to be the aforementioned server. I have contacted them again about their Domain Host server but no response as yet.
If what I am presenting to you is the correct protocol I have in place at my end, I thank you for taking the time to assist me. By doing so, I believe I will be able to determine it is not an iWeb publishing issue [mostly because all my websites are not experiencing this problem], nor is it the FTP server,FileZilla, but the Domain Host Server.
As mentioned above, here is the folder where my websites are located.
    I so appreciate your assistance.

  • Trying to publish a new iWeb site to mobileme

My son is part of a family account I have and he is experimenting with creating a blog using iweb
Is publisihing on Mobileme still supported?
We are trying to publish but it's selling us to sign in (and we are signed in) and can't progress further
I know that no future for IWeb publishing to MobileMe has been announced but is creating a new blog for an existing member of a family pack still supported?
    Thanks in advance
    James

Yes, if you already have a MobileMe account, then you can publish until June next year.
The Family Pack has different log in accounts, so just log out and then log in again.

  • Publishing to MobileMe Error

I spent 4 hours with 5 different Apple support techs trying to figure out why my site wasn't publishing to my personal domain. I got a lot of different answers, most assuming that my CNAME set up with my domain name's registrar was improperly configured. I was able to view my site at www.web.me.com/myname/mydomain.org/Home.html but NOT at www.mydomain.org. So my site was publishing and viewable but I needed it under mydomain.org, the solution was so simple I don't know how 3 MobileMe techs and one iWeb tech failed to figure it out (MobileMe support agent Bonifacio L. had the answer 5 minutes into our chat)
When you have iWeb open, the bar on the left lists all the sites you've created. The one I was publishing was the last on the list by default (most recently created). I hadn't published any of the other sites, they were all for practice. The solution was to move the site I wanted published to the top of the list and republish it. This instantly fixed my problem and my site is now at mydomain.org.
I just wanted to post this so because I can't imagine I'm the only one to ever have this problem. The fact that it took 5 techs to solve the problem is ridiculous and if I can save somebody else the hassle than maybe it was worth it. I also sent a detailed email to Apple asking them to make sure their techs know this fix.
    Good Luck!

Is this a universal problem at this time?
Welcome to the discussions. Looking at this forum's main list, it appears not. And MobileMe's +"System Status"+ at the upper right HERE currently indicates +"All MobileMe services are online."+

  • IWeb publishing errors

My computer crashed and I ended up installing everything again. However, when I try to update my site using iWeb, I get the following error:
An error occurred while publishing file “/private/var/folders/g3/g3WR5nm6GXmMVozexXw6oU+TI/TemporaryItems/com.apple.iWeb2243_TEMP_270725365_2/sites/Site/theology_spong_files/shapeimage7.png”. Try publishing again later.
I tried deleting iWeb and reinstalling. I also erased my idisk and even dumped my "domain" and wrote a completely new one page test site to no avail.
    Any suggestions please?

  • Iweb connect ti mobileme

iweb cannot connect to mobileme server to publish my new page on my website. it said try again later. its has been two days. no luck.

Welcome to the discussions. Try this: Quit iWeb. Then  menu > System Preferences... > MobileMe icon > Account tab > click on Sign Out... Then enter a garbage name and password and try to sign in. This apparently clears the MobileMe preferences. Then enter your real username and password. Once signed in, quit System Preferences, open iWeb and try to publish.
Or, if still no luck and this Apple doc doesn't help:

  • How long should it take to publish to mobileme?

I just built a (very small, very under-construction) website, which I am trying to publish to my mobileme account. I have plenty of available iDisk storage, and a brand new computer with 4GB of RAM. I hit "publish" on iWeb, and it's been over an hour. I have no way of knowing how much longer it's going to take to publish, because the only thing that the program is telling me is "Publishing." How long does it usually take to publish a site on MobileMe???

Welcome to the discussions. To publish a "very small" site via a typical ADSL connection should take only seconds. If this Apple doc doesn't help:

  • IWeb Update - Publishing to MobileMe Problem

After running the 3.0.2 update I tested the app and all was well - or so I thought!
I don't use MobileMe much and decided to test the claim that it "resolves some issues related to publishing sites to MobileMe". Well, of course, publishing to MobileMe wouldn't work.
I resolved this by quitting, deleting the plist - Home Folder/Library/Preferences/com.apple.iWeb.plist. - relaunching and resetting the preferences. I also logged out and back in to MobileMe for good measure.
I never had any problem with uploading to MobileMe before this update. I wasn't even going to bother installing it because I never use the blog or podcast. I only installed it because I saw that another user had problems with iWeb not launching properly after running the update and thought I would see if I could replicate it.
Maybe one day we will get an iWeb update that actually works as advertised and contains something useful?

After I went through the steps mentioned above the published site had a few items missing in the header.
I published to a local folder to test it and this was OK. Then I re uploaded to MobileMe and this version worked.
I only use MobileMe for test sites so this glitch is not a disaster to me.
It would be worth while creating a small test site to troubleshoot this issue rather than using your main site.
I don't use the blog or podcast so I have no idea if there are any problems in that area.

Apple didn't include web storage on iCloud. There are other web hostings (Blogspot, GoDaddy, etc.)
