Iweb publishing/test connection problem

I haven't changed my settings in iweb (ILife 08) but recently when I test connection it says "connection to ftp._______ could not be established."  If I haven't changed anything, why all of us sudden does it not establish a connection?

iWeb 08 (iLife 08) has no FTP.
iWeb 09 has.
Check the settings, even if you haven't changed them. Then try again.

  • Iweb publishing and udate problems

I can't get my iweb sites to publish at .mac, and I can't get iweb to check for updates.
I can upload to my idisk, I can get other Apple updates, all other web connections are working fine. I can publish the web site to a folder, including one on my idisk. I did publish a test (garbage) iweb site about a month ago, when I first got this machine, and the only way I was able to get rid of it was deleting the files from the idisk. Which I only did after trying to publish the most recent updates.
The error mesages I get are:
"The update server could not be contacted. Check your Internet connection or try again later." (when I try and update iweb)
"There was an error determining the .Mac publish configuration values. Please try again in a few minutes." (when I try and publish) I have tried the button and both publish choices on the file menu.

Use the second option shown on this page to publish to a local folder...
    http://www.iwebformusicians.com/iWeb/Publish-Website.html
The double click the index.html file to launch your site in the browser.
Make any changes in iWeb and republish.
iWeb stores the website data in a Domain.sites2 file. See this page...

  • Test-Connection problem

Running in to strange issue with the Test-Connection cmdlet, both inside a script I am writing and when running it directly from a powershell session.  No matter what computer/site I try to test I get "test-connection : Not Found"(full error
text below) this occurs even when trying test-connection localhost. I am able to ping both localhost and remote computers without a problem.  it looks like someone had a similar problem a few years ago(http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/scriptcenter/en-US/dad5613a-aa6e-4f0d-b99d-82d6afda83d7/bizzare-testconnection-failure?forum=ITCG)
but it doesn't look like it was ever resolved and none of the suggestions in the thread worked for me.

Test-Connection is based on querying the Win32_PingStatus WMI class.  I suspect you might have a corrupted WMI repository.  There are instructions for rebuilding it on the knowledge base, I believe.  Should be easy to find with a web search.

  • FTP Publish- test connection verified but can't publish

I am tring to publish a project to my FTP server.  When I test the connection, I get a message that the connection is successful (see below). However, when try to publish it, it tells me it cannot establish a connection.  Any thoughts?

Any chance that you are using a Proxy server? I have quite a few problems with my Captivate at work since all our traffic goes through corporate proxy servers.
Another potential cause could be if you are on a corporate network but the ports that are used for FTP traffic are blocked by your firewall.
So far I haven't found any way of fixing these problems.

  • IWeb publish to web problem

I've been trying all day to update my iWeb page and I keep getting this warning:
"An error occurred while publishing file “/Web/.Temporary Web Resources/10C8AEC0-0014-4260-B2A0-A6E624726E0B”. Try publishing again later."
Anyone know what that means? Is it a .mac server issue or something in my computer or the software?
    thanks in advance!

If you're publishing to a MMe account I'm guessing it's a server side issue. There are just too many cases of similar problems with users doing nothing to instigate it which clear up by them selves a day or two later.
As a work around mount your iDisk, go to the iDisk/Web/Sites folder. Then publish your site to a folder on the hard drive and upload the site folder manually. I use Web Site Maestro to optimize my sites on MMe and publish to a folder and use WSM to optimize and upload. It's fast and reliable.

  • IWeb Test Connection Fail

Hi Folks, I am sure that their have been a million questions on this subject on the Test Connection failing when testing your connection to the host.
I am not sure if a solution has been found. I am having this problem and need a solution. I would like to publish through the iWeb FTP page as this is a very simple process. I tried to publish via Cyberduck and this worked ok. However the simplicity of the iWeb publisher is what intrest's me.
Does anybody know of a solution?
    Many thanks
    Paul

Yes, there are a million questions about this.
This is the usual answer :
When iWeb tests the connection, it tries to write a file on the server based on the server settings you provide.
When it can write, the test is ok.
It does not mean that it is the right location where you should publish your webpages. Only that the location is writable.
If the test fails, it's usually the pathname that is wrong or incomplete. See the FAQ where you host your website to learn what the correct pathname is.
If you already have a website, check the settings of that website and use those.

  • Problems with text in iWeb publishing much larger, or smaller than in iWeb (it is insane)!

More than a year ago I had a problem with my iWeb not publishing correctly: links to other websites would not open in a separate window as designed in iWeb. I got help from an AppleCare techie and after he did a lot of tests, he concluded I had a corrupted Domain file (which became apparent after I upgraded to OS Snow Leopard).  I don't remember if I discussed with this techie another problem I had been having for as long as I had used iWeb, and that was "exploding" text: certain words, often italicized, would be huge, after publishing, relative to the surrounding text.  Sometimes certain words, or sentences would be smaller than designed in iWeb.  Through trial and error I would sort of solve these problems by enlarging text boxes, or making the offending word or phrase one text point smaller.  Sometimes deleting the text box entirely, and starting over would work.  And then there are the weird things that happen when my wife opens my website in Internet Explorer: things that make no sense and seem to be totally out of my control.
So, I've spent a long time rebuilding my website in this supposedly uncorrupted Domain file, and today I finally finished and published to my hard drive, checked it out, and the "exploding" text is there with a vengeance.  So much so that I may just stick with my original ("corrupted") Domain file, the text problem on this new one seems even worse than the old one.  Anyone had this problem?  I meant to ask this question years ago, but got a bit lazy.
Another question is: I've heard Apple is going to discontinue iWeb.  Despite my problems with the program, I rely on it.  What are the options going to be for iWeb users?

Well you heard wrong didn't you!
Apple is discontinuing MobileMe, which is the hosting in favour of iCloud services which will not contain any hosting.
iWeb is an app and as far as we know you can still continue to use it - it will still work so carry on using it if you are happy with it.
If you want to look at other alternatives to iWeb, then others suggest RapidWeaver and Sandvox as being closer to iWeb - both are available via the Mac App store.
Also Freeway Express and Flux 3 are worth looking at - more design freedom and you are not restricted to templates as with RapidWeaver.

  • Test JDBC connection problem

    Hi all,
I got a very weird problem when I click Test Connection Button.
I installed xml publisher Enterprise 5.6.2 in the server, I attempt to configure Jdbc connection in this server. once I click the Test Connection Button after I input all information, all information will be cleaned in this server, i can not get any message if the connection works well. But if i use url like http://serverIP:15101/xmlpserver/ to login xml publisher on other machine, I will get successful or error message.
who has same experience in JDBC configuration?how to solve it ,thanks in advance.

Apologies ... not really sure what the issue is. I assume you are talking about setting up the JDBC connection for a data source?
In that case the entries would be something like:
    connection string: jdbc:oracle:thin:@host.company.com:1525:ora10g
    un: oe
    pw oe
    driver class: oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver

  • Test connection says offline when trying publishing. I'm not offline although.

Hopefuly there is a way to solve this as I want to stick with iWeb. I'm online but test connection says offline. What to do?

Are you trying to publish with iWeb 2 (08) directly to the server?  If you are what iWeb is trying to do is publish to the MobileMe servers which were taken off line by Apple since June 30th of this year.
You will have to obtain a new hosting location for your website.  Then publish your website to a folder on your hard drive and use a 3rd party FTP client like YummyLite, Cyberduck, Transmit, etc. to upload your files to your account on your new hosting server.
This should be of help to you: Life After MobileMe.
If you want to publish directly to the new server from iWeb you'll need to upgrade iWeb to iWeb 3.  It is available thru the purchase of the iLIfe 11 disk from a 3rd party retailer like Amazon.com or eBay.com. Apple does not offer iDVD or the iLife 11 disk any more since dropping iDVD and iWeb.
Additoinally, if you were to upgrade to Mt. Lion iWeb 2 would not work and you would then need to upgrade to iWeb 3.

  • Problems with iWeb publishing to MobileMe

    Hi,
Did you have some problems since about four days on publishing with iWeb to MobileMe? In my case, when I publish my site - and I made just little changes - iWeb publish ALL the pages.
I early had this same problem, this spring, and it was a MobileMe problem; Apple just made a little update to the server and it was ok.
    I'm using iWeb'09
    Thanks

With a lot of media content have you considered other ways of adding movies or audio tracks that only require you uploading those file manually once and then linking to them. For movies this demo page has one possible method: Opening Item in a New, Precisely Sized Window. This demo page has 7 movies added that way. They don't load until the play button is selected. PhotoPresenter Animated Slideshow Themes
For audio you can use flash players or a flash jutebox. Roddy's site, iWeb for Musicians, has examples and how-to's for both. See the following pages: Music Players and the following 3 pages after it. See the Next Page button at the bottom.
I've got a couple of flash players on my demo page: Music Players.
There are many alternatives to having to load all the media each time you republish.

  • Cannot publish to MobileMe.   Error says, "iWeb couldn't connect to MobileMe. Make sure your Internet connection works and try again."  Connection is OK!

My site will publish to a folder, but will not publish to MobileMe.   Error says, “iWeb couldn’t connect to MobileMe. Make sure your Internet connection works and try again.“  Connection is OK!

Thank you Alancito for your reply.  The recent post you suggested was not necessary because another of your suggestions did the trick:  https://discussions.apple.com/message/11503337#11503337  In effect, it seems to have reestablished my connection to my MobileMe account, and my iWeb site now publishes on MobileMe.
My next step will be to transfer my iWeb site to another Personal Web Provider when MobileMe ceases to exist next June.  Any recommendations for a simple PWP?
    Thank you very much,

  • WiFi connection problem testing

I am also one of many having the intermittent WiFi connection problem at home.
From a technical testing mode. Get the free the "FreePing" application by Marcel Lanz in the app store.
What you will find is when you are having the internet connection problem, you can not ping your Router. However, you can ping any wired Mac or desktop computer on your router/switch network.
This tells you, you are on the network, getting an IP address from the router DHCP server.
The problem is not related to the Wi-Fi connection or connecting to the network (OSI Layer 2 model).
It appears to be a problem at the OSI Network Layer 3. The router is having a problem in the routing table. The hard part is the Layer 3 problem can be either in the Touch or the router in this configuration. Meaning, the combination of both Touch and router is causing the problem. Thus, the intermittent operation.
Yes, this is probably more technical than anyone here cares to know.

    Hi,
You should be debugging the driver / contact the vendor. Seems like netrtwlanu is realtek based chipset.
The abort points to this driver (at least the PC).

  • IWeb publishes updates but does not upload in the FTP

    HELP!
I have a 'tried-tested-true' website that's been on the internet for 10 years. It's been updated over the years but needed much more as of today.
The updates perfectly publish within iWeb [3.0.4]. The FTP uploads the site, but when I check it on the internet [Safari 6.2.3], the former version appears.
I proceeded to troubleshoot by renaming the website and re-mounting the pages. Also, renaming the pages, but after several attempts of uploading each newer version, all efforts were to no avail. It has taken me a full day without results. That is, the original website remains on the internet, which is very outdated.
I have run out of troubleshooting ideas. All of my other websites have not had this problem. There was an issue this week with the ISP Domain Host services not connecting my site. I contacted them, but have had no response. However, I thought I would try connecting again today in case they sorted out their connectivity issues. I am able to connect to their server. I have good reason to believe the FTP is uploading the updated directory files, but for some reason when it comes to viewing the site on the internet, au contraire.
Not sure if this is an iWeb problem or my ISP domain hosting services having issues with connectivity. Whatever, it is very perplexing to me as to what to do next after the extensive amount of time I have taken troubleshooting.
I repeat myself when I say, 'HELP!'

Okay, I understand what you are referencing. I am publishing my websites to the path of 'Users'-Documents-Website Documents.
Below is a screen shot of the folder my Websites are located. Is this what you are referencing? It is Site 2 that is having issues with uploading to the domain host server of my ISP. All the other sites have been uploaded successively.
I use FileZilla as my FTP server and it has been excellent. I have tried CyberDuck, et al. FZ works perfectly well indicating all that one needs to know while uploading. If my other websites were causing the same issues, then it would mean FTP issues.
However, I believe I am on the same track you are referencing with regards to my published website is in the appropriate location on my HD. I stand to be corrected.
I believe by my contacting the Forum and reading your information that I am following protocol as I have always done with my 4 websites that upload properly. As I continue the discussion, it is becoming evident the issue is with the Domain Host server, which is not a problem to post on this Forum.
However, I posted my issue just in case it was an iWeb issue or my not following protocol correctly to publish a website. From what I am gleaning with your information, I am following protocol. Repeating myself when I say it appears to be the aforementioned server. I have contacted them again about their Domain Host server but no response as yet.
If what I am presenting to you is the correct protocol I have in place at my end, I thank you for taking the time to assist me. By doing so, I believe I will be able to determine it is not an iWeb publishing issue [mostly because all my websites are not experiencing this problem], nor is it the FTP server,FileZilla, but the Domain Host Server.
As mentioned above, here is the folder where my websites are located.
    I so appreciate your assistance.
