IWeb QuickTime tutorials

Any fathomable reason why the iWeb tutorials aren't working on the Apple site? For example....
http://www.apple.com/ca/ilife/tutorials/#imovie-design-23
neither in Safari nor Firefox. My pop-ups are not disabled.

It's not just the iWeb tutorials but all of them. Just another day in purgatory.

  • Problem with iWeb Quicktime page using Boot Camp Windows XP

I used iWeb '08 to create a one-page web site with a short QuickTime movie (.mov file). The movie plays fine in Mac OS X Safari. I have a Windows XP Boot Camp partition, and when I boot into Windows and load the web page using Internet Explorer, the movie will not play. It gives a plug-in error and the browser crashes. The same thing happens with Windows Safari. However, the movie plays fine using Windows Firefox.
Is this an iWeb problem or Boot Camp problem? I don't have access to a straight Windows PC. An suggestions will be appreciated. The URL for the web page is:
    http://www.hearnweb.com/avian/

The problem was a setting in QuickTime. I enabled "Safe Mode" in the Advanced tab of QuickTime Preferences, which did the trick.

  • Need Solution for iWeb/QuickTime viewing problem in IE 6 for Windows

When viewing an iWeb page in IE 6 for Windows with a background picture and a QuickTime movie embeded, the QT movie frame will "smear" when the page is scrolled. More specifically, The QT movie frame will not lock into its proper position as long as the page has a background picture selected in iWeb when viewing w/ IE 6 for Windows. Does anyone know of a solution for this? Does this problem still exist w/ later versions of IE for Windows?
By the way, if you don't already know this, changing the Page Background setting back to the default of 'Color Fill' in iWeb and republishing will not correct the problem once a background picture is selected for a page. You have to set the Page Background setting to 'None' and republish. The movie frame will then be locked into place when scrolling the page in IE 6 for Windows.

Someone else posted that you may have to remove the image altogether, publish, then place the replacement image. The images for the background of my newest pages use this as a tiled background successfully.

I'm not sure how well tiling would work on your page though since it would begin to repeat vertically when you don't want it to (for me, tiling is exactly what I needed).

  • IWeb Quicktime Pop Up Window

I am making a site with videos of my work. I want to have one page where I list the titles of the videos. Then, I want the user to click on a title and have the video pop-up in a separate window. I want to be able to control the pop up window size so that it is exactly the same size as the quicktime video.
I have somewhat accomplished this using a HTML code I found online and an HTML Snippet in iWeb. What I don't like, however, is that the HTML Snippet text (the video titles) fade in for some reason. I had this same "fade in" problem with button rollovers using HTML Snippets.
If possible, I'd like to do the same thing that Apple does on their trailer page, where the video opens in the center, without any border, and the rest of the page gets dim.
    Thanks,
    Chris

Figured out what I wanted using lytebox and a tutorial from iwebunlimited.com. Works great, looks great.

  • Viewing iWeb Quicktime movies on PC

    Greetings,
I've posted several Quicktime movies on my iWeb site and am getting reports from most of the PC users who've tried to view them that the movies won't open. I know that Quicktime 3 or later is needed. Is there any other advice I could give PC users toward viewing these movies?
    Thanks!
    BnB

Yes, Quicktime 3 is wayyyyyyy outdated.
Post a hyperlink on your web page with this link
    http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/win.html
add hyperlinks on you site in iweb easily by highlighting your text-
    then menu>
    insert>
    hyperlink>
    webpage>
the inspector will open on the right hand side of your screen
first drop down menu should say link to "external page"
second input your full web page link in the next text box
    repeat as needed.
    Good Luck

  • Making quicktime tutorials for web broadcast

I would like to create a series of 'movie' tutorials on various aspects of Photoshop. I would like to do voice-over what I am doing at the same time on the screen.
Is there a way for me to record my voice at the same time I am working on my (duo-core) iMac capturing both simultaneously then editing for final output as an MP4 file?
Might someone point this right-brainer to a tutorial that would help in this task? Perhaps there is a new book that goes into all the creative stuff one can do with Quicktime 7 and MP4 technology?
    Thanks in advance
duo core iMac   Mac OS X (10.4.9)

You should get Snapz Pro X v2, it can record movies that include the microphone input:

  • Podcasts to iWeb Quicktime issue

Having a problem somewhere along the line...creating a podcast in GB 08, sending to iWeb and publishing to .Mac...
No problems for several months...all of a sudden when I go to download the podcasts w/iTunes, they're being downloaded as Quicktime files...and won't sync w/my iPod.
    Help?

This was actually a problem before 7.5 (since 7.4.5 definitely). This thread has more information.
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=7080306
The only workarounds in that thread are to re-install 7.4.1. Be sure to send feedback to Apple regarding this here.

  • Safari/IWeb/QuickTime problem

I have two Apple computers. On my older iMac I have created my website using iWeb09. I have MobileMe. I do not have any problems viewing my QuickTime files on that computer. On my Mac Book Pro, I am not able to play all of my QuickTime files. Some show up, and others do not. I also have checked my PC computer. I do not have a problem on that computer playing all QuickTime files on my website.
If I use FireFox on my Mac Book Pro, I can play all my QuickTime files on my website.
Is there something I can do to make the files playable on my Mac Book pro?
    Thanks

  • How do I export an imovie as a quicktime small enough to work on iweb well?

I recently tried exporting a imovie into a quicktime choosing web page quality. Once this process was done I opened a iweb movie page and it inserted the quicktime movie in but also included a warning that it will not play well for all computers. It said the best way to have it work is to compress it to 10 MB. I went back and didn't see that option or understand all of the options that might make is smaller. It's about a 1/2 hour school concert. Many thanks for any help!

    Hi Mt514,
If it's 30 minutes, I wouldn't worry about the 10 MB thing, I'm not certain, but I think that would apply to like a 5 minute movie... afterall, it's how big it is per second, not really how big overall!

If you haven't already seen these iWeb video tutorials, they can be useful ~ this one shows the QT +Poster Frame+ slider being set up:

  • Does iWeb support Make Ref Movie

    Does iWeb support makerefmovie? www.apple.com/quicktime/tutorials/refmovies.html
Is there anyway to create a quicktime reference movie that contains pointers to alternate data rate movies which are best suited for the user's connection speed?
    TX

iWeb writes page code that calls the QuickTime browser plug-in.
QuickTime on a PC can't open WMP formats.
All you can do is use "link to file" to upload your .wmv file.

  • Streaming and Delivery using Quicktime Pro software.

I was reading the tutorial about Streaming and Delivery with the Quicktime Pro software. I have questions around the steps that are listed to be taken in order to create a streaming video. Here are a list of the steps and the link to this website page.
    http://www.apple.com/quicktime/tutorials/
    Streaming & Delivery
Interested in streaming content from your site? Learn how to do everything from preparing your media for streaming to setting up a live broadcast and even displaying your media right inside the web browser.
    1. Preparing to Deliver Streaming Media
    2. Hint Tracks
    3. Delivering Live Streaming Media
    4. Reference Movies
    5. Embedding QuickTime
The question I have is about step 2 Hint Tracks and what the tutorial says:
Movies that are intended for streaming via QuickTime Streaming Server must be hinted—that is, they need a hint track for every streamable media track. The hint tracks tell the server exactly how to package the media data for the network.
So these movies are not intended for streaming via Quicktime streaming server.. not even sure what this means but our server I believe is Windows 2000. So can I skip this part of setting up the video for streaming and just follow steps 1,3,4 and 5 or do I need to find someother way to do this?

QuickTime Pro only helps make .mov and .mp4 files ready for streaming. The files it creates must be served using special software.

  • Trouble with mp3 files on iWeb '08

Hi, I'm new to iWeb, I'm trying to add several mp3 files (each no longer than 2 minutes) on several different pages using the drag and drop method from the media browser. I have no problem adding one or two to a page, but if I try to add more, I run into a problem. When I view the published page and try to press play on the iWeb quicktime player for the last mp3 added to the bottom of the page, nothing happens (the other mp3s on the page work fine). When I delete the file from the page and try to add it again, the published site now shows a little question mark with a circle around it. If I try and move it to a different part of the page and then view the published site, the question mark will still appear in the same place as it was before I moved the player. I've checked the mp3 files and they work just fine if they're on their own page. Am I having this problem because there's a limit to the amount you can add per page, or is it something else?
    Thanks for the help...
    -Damon

See my tutorial Toad's TutorialsManaging an iWeb site from multiple Macs with Dropbox. It's all automatic once you have Dropbox installed on both computers. The only caveat is you can be working on the site from both computers at the same time.

  • Apple video tutorials at the Genius Bar

Somewhere on the Apple web site they recently had four short quicktime tutorials with a guy at the genius bar explaining how to use the dictionary in Pages, who to set the colors in Keynote and several other topics. I cannot find them!! I have searched and searched. Hard to believe that they would be removed so quickly.
Also several months ago they had a little video explaining how to print from a mac when you are on a windows server, it was excellent but now I cannot find it.
Does anyone know where these are hiding???

There are quite a few more than four video tips.
