Iweb quite working

Just updated to Mountain Lion Server and now my iweb stopped working! I have version 2.0.4 it says but nothing loads! I'm not sure what to do, I recently bought a bunch of themes from iWeb Templates and all of a sudden bam nothing is working. Any help would be great.
Thanks, if you need any extra info I would be glad to get it for you.

iWeb 2 is not compatible with Mt. Lion.  If you want to continue using iWeb you need to get iWeb 3.
However the following may allow you to open your current domain file with iWeb 2 but probably not be able to publish to a folder which is what you'll have to do in order to get it online.
In Lion and Mountain Lion the Home/Library folder is now invisible. To make it permanently visible enter the following in the Terminal application window: chflags nohidden ~/Library and hit the Enter button - 10.7: Un-hide the User Library folder.
To open your domain file in Lion or Mountain Lion or to switch between multiple domain files Cyclosaurus has provided us with the following script that you can make into an Applescript application with Script Editor. Open Script Editor, copy and paste the script below into Script Editor's window and save as an application.
do shell script "/usr/bin/defaults write com.apple.iWeb iWebDefaultsDocumentPath -boolean no"delay 1
tell application "iWeb" to activate
You can download an already compiled version with this link: iWeb Switch Domain.
Just launch the application, find and select the domain file in your Home/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder that you want to open and it will open with iWeb. It modifies the iWeb preference file each time it's launched so one can switch between domain files.
WARNING: iWeb Switch Domain will overwrite an existing Domain.sites2 file if you select to create a new domain in the same folder.  So rename your domain files once they've been created to something other than the default name.

  • IWeb quits 'unexpectedly'...how do I get it to work/

I have a website on iWeb, and I have all of a sudden had a problem opening it. I click on the icon on my dock, and it starts to bounce, but after 15-20 seconds it gives me a message saying 'the application iWeb quit unexpectedly'. I have tried relaunching it, and even did a utility check and fix to make sure there wasn't something there making it do it.
    Can't get it to work...help???
    Mahalo...George

    George:
If you install iLife 09, that will likely fix your problem. ( unless the problem isn't really iWeb)
Do copy your domain file and move it out of the <user/library/application support/iWeb/> before you run the iWeb 09 application. Yes, this is a straight forward drag and drop operation.
<user/library.......> is a description of the location of the domain file. Here's what it means:
<user> (a little house icon in the left-hand side bar of any folder, if the side bar isn't visible, click on the oval button in the upper right hand corner of a folder to hide/ display the side bar) is usually what you've named the folder of the computer that has your personal settings for applications etc.
Double click on your user icon ( the little house) and you should see a list of folders, find the folder called <library>, double click on it, find the folder called <application support>, double click on it to reveal it's contents, find the folder called < iWeb> and you should find your domain file in that folder. Copy it (the drag and drop operation to an external drive should copy it rather than just move it. You want to copy (as opposed to <move> it so it remains in the original folder and is duplicated to a safe place on an external hard drive.
When iWeb 09 opens the domain file it will modify it and iWeb 08 will no longer be able to edit the domain file. (but with a copy of the domain file safely out of the <user/library/application support/iWeb/> iWeb 08 will still be able to edit the domain file you copied and moved.
This is a safety precaution in case something goes wrong with the update process you will still be able to edit your existing work with iWeb 08. ( you could always reinstall 08 )
To try to clarify and answer part of your question:
iWeb only edits the domain file (located on your computer), this one file is where all your editing work is stored.
When you publish to a server (or folder for that matter) the iWeb application no longer interacts with the published site. iWeb only edits your domain file. only when you hit the publish button do the changes you've made to your domain file overwrite the published site.
The domain file and the published site are two completely different things.
    Hope this helps, David

  • IWeb "quitting unexpectedly"

Each time I try to launch iWeb, it appears to begin a launch then I receive a message as follows. I am overseas so I don't have access to the 800 support line.
    "The application iWeb quit unexpectedly"

    Kibrabs, TravelLisa;
Welcome to the discussions, to both of you.
    Start by quitting iWeb.
Using the Finder create a new folder on your desktop and name it DomainFile.
Navigate to your Domain.sites file, found in this location on your local hard drive.
Move this Domain.sites file into the new folder you just created. Be very careful with this file; it contains all of your work, and all of your sites, created in the iWeb application. Now place this folder in your Documents folder.
Now launch iWeb. It may ask you to choose a Domain file or create a new one; it may just launch with a blank Site Organizer, ready to create new sites. If it asks you to choose or create a new Domain file, choose create. In any event, iWeb will have created a new Domain file for you. If the application continues with no problems, then there is something about the old Domain file it doesn't like. Could be something simple, like a badly named photo file. Assuming this is the case, navigate to the old Domain file in your Documents folder and make a few copies of it. Bring one of the copies to your Desktop and double-click it.
If you still can't get iWeb to open it so you can possibly find troublesome areas, you may be stuck with re-creating your sites. It's possible to get into the Domain file package contents, but you need to know what you are doing when you go this route--not much fun.

  • Message: iWeb quit unexpectedly while using the SFWordPRocessing plug-in.

Ol' Toad are you out there - I'm in trouble again??
Did lots of work to website recently - having no problems but yesterday all sorts of things started happening when I tried to publish. At one time my account bar came up bright blue and solid telling me it was full and urging me to buy more space (Previously it was showing 9GB remaining) Then my password kept getting randomly rejected other times no problem. Now I get this message every time I try to publish: "iWeb quit unexpectedly while using the SFWordPRocessing plug-in"
Happens if I try to publish entire site or changes only, on mobile me or a local folder
I turned off last night and safe booted this morning but same thing is happening and NOW something else has happened - all pages are black- I am getting a message that "an error occurred while trying to open this page" - all fonts are missing and that I need to add all images and movies to the document again. This is MAJOR work - what has happened?
I am working in iWeb 9 3.0.2 please advise as soon as possible Thanks JAckie

  • Iweb quit unexpectedly lost my project

    Hi,
In the last week I have had my hard drive and RAM upgraded, also upgraded from Tiger 10.4 to Panther 10.6. I have had a website in iweb for over a year and made little changes here and there. Before I upgraded I started a major revamp of my website, changing pictures and layout etc but not publishing with the intention of making it live when it was complete. Since the upgrade I have been continuing the work on my website with no problem until yesterday when iweb quite unexpectedly. When I reopened iweb all my changes were gone and the website project was as it was before I started the changes. Is there anyway to get back the work i have done? is it stored somewhere on my hard drive or idisk? It represents many hours of work and I'm incredibly frustrated by it. I'm not %100 savvy with my mac so any hints and tips would be gratefully received, with clear details of how to execute them.
    Thanks in advance
    Jess

Oh, well point being that I assumed it was saved as I have turned the mac off several times since I started the changes to my site and when I've turned it back on to resume the work on my website the changes were still there each time. They have just disappeared since iweb quit unexpectedly.

  • IWeb quit unexpectedly while using the SFWordprocessing plugin after 10.6.6

installed snow leopard OS X 10.6.6 so I could run Pixelmator. opened up iWeb and was tooling around with a 2nd website as to not alter my current website. I added in a imovie and played around with a pg before closing, pretty sure I did not save it just closed it down..... when I went to open back up..... I get the above saying "iWeb quit unexpectedly while using SFWordprocessing plugin. I fallowed the path to the file that was having issues but I have no idea what to do, I have folder that say MAC OS and others under the new 10.6.6
I tried to locate the file and do as I read online by erasing the plug but didnt work? I shut down and opened in safe mode restarted as well so it's not the Font issue......
I never backed up my MAC and erased the disk fore installing OS X 10.6.6 So not sure what to do??
I was going to rebuild my entire site from scratch but would idealy like to restore the original but I can't even open up iweb??
    HELP PLEASE!!!

Stuart ~ Welcome to the discussions.
"I was having this same problem after installing Snow Leopard. After exhaustive research, I disovered that deleting your iWeb preferences file will solve this issue.
Open your User Folder, then Library/Preferences (you will NOT find this file in your HD Library/Prferences folder - you must be in your user folder). Find the file named "com.apple.iweb.plist" Delete the file by dragging to Trash. Restart you comupter." (Source)
...If that doesn't help, more suggestions may be found by doing THIS.

  • IWeb quit on me.....

While launching iWeb 3.0.1, it would just about to open then this pops up...
"iWeb quit unexpectedly while using the SFWordProcessing plugin."
I was using it all afternoon. Worked just fine. I stopped for a hour or so, went back to work on a site, no go. Anyone have any ideas?
    Thanks,
    Pat

    Pat ~ This may help:
Go to Finder -> HomeFolder -> Library
Move entire folder "Caches" to desktop
    Restart iWeb and publish
    It may work now
You can now delete "Caches" folder in desktop.

  • IWeb Quits when Publishing - Apple Genius said to Archive & Reinstall

Just spent over an hour with an Apple Genius at the Apple store to see if he could alleviate my problem with iWeb quitting whenever I tried to publish. I've been using iWeb for the last 5 months and have successfully posted hundreds of blog posts and pictures to my site on a .Mac account - but in the last 24 hours, I've been unable to get new posts published because iweb has been crashing prior to finishing the publish request.
I've tried deleting the iWeb preferences in /myname/library/prefernces as well as clearing my cache files and plain old rebooting. Also tried reinstalling the 1.1. update. The Genius reinstalled iWeb at the store and then I updated. Nothing's been fixed. I still crash when I publish. The only possible solution (according to the Genius) is to bite the bullet and do an Archive and Install. Anyone had luck with this?
Macbook Pro   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

I would go with a second User account first, as suggested by James.
If this doesn't work, I would be thinking corrupt prefs files within the domain file itself....
    1. Quit iWeb
    2. Navigate to the domain file, User/Library/Application Support/iWeb/domain
    3. CREATE A COPY OF THIS FILE, and then move it to somewhere safe.
    4. Now back to the original, "control+click" (Right click if you have one of those new fangled two button mice (mouses?!?) )
    5. From the pop-up menu, choose "Show Package Contents"
    6. Sort the finder window by "Kind", it brings all of the plist files inside iWeb together.
assets.YourUserName.plist - This one is a regular problem!
    ServerCachedResources.plist
    sharedassets.plist
    deletedComments.YourUserName.plist
I have deleted all of these when having different problems, not specifically iWeb quittting when publishing, I dont think that that has happened to me.
I do have a tendancy to lose blog comments, perhaps deleting these files has caused it.
I also know that once I have deleted them and relaunched iWeb, done a Publish All to .Mac, all of my problems have gone.
The plist files are all recreated the first time you do this.
You may or may not want to try this, but on a copy of your domain.sites file is there anything to lose? Other than your sanity?
You might want to do one at a time or all at once.
Anyway, thats my 2 pence worth, I'm English really!!!

  • IWeb quits at half the preparation of the files when publishing the whole site

SOS ! After having saved my site on a local folder, I can't publish anymore my whole site through iWeb to FTP. iWeb quits when arriving at half the preparation of the files for publication. At one moment I had the message "Insufficient memory" (?!?). My site www.yesicannes.com is now big enough after one year of reports published with many pictures, but before I published my site on a local folder, I had no problem publishing frequent updates. But as I published on a local folder, I have to publish again the whole site and iWeb stops all the time before the publication. Any help please ?
    [email protected]

I was referring to the group of links on the first page and other pages:
but now realize that's not the part of your site you're referring to.
I'm not sure how you have your magazine site organized. Based on just what i've seen on the first page of the magazine page you could put all of the December pages in it's separate site and link to the site as you link to the pages only they are in a separate sitel
To split the sites, say by month, make a copy of your domain file and name it December.sites2.  Open that domain file and delete all of the pages from it except those associated with December.  Then make another copy of the full domain file and delete all files except those for November.  That should reduce the size of each domain file down to a more reasonable size.
You could do this all locally, i.e. publishing to a folder on your hard drive,  while leaving your online site untouched until you've got it worked out. However you will have to publish them to your server so that you can get the hyperlinks between sites established.  You can do this by giving the sites names, i.e. December, etc. and non with the same name as your current site.  Once you have the new site(s) up and running to your satisfaction change the current site so that the magazine files are not in it's domain file and the link to the magazine
points to the new magazine site.  You'll see what I mean and can refine the concept to fit what you need.  I have a family site that has nearly 80 pages, each of which is a separate site.  So when I finish with a page (nearly all are never edited once they are published) I can put that domain file aside (but backed up) and not have to deal with it.
You can lay it out graphically on paper to get an idea how you will want to separate and group the pages.

  • IWeb quits when I try to delete a corrupted page.

    iWeb v. 1.1.2 running on OSX 10.5.1.
I want to delete a corrupted page, but iWeb quits every time I try to select it.
I have already been into Home>Library>Application Support>iWeb>Domain.Sites and deleted photos. Have checked Fonts and deleted duplicates, but suspect error is in the type somewhere. All other pages work, but need to delete this one before I can republish. iWeb also quits when I try to re-publish. Help very much appreciated.

    Try disabling your antivirus/antispam software.

  • 27: iMac Apple Mini DisplayPort to DVI adapter quits working post-firmware

I iMac Apple Mini DisplayPort to DVI adapter suddenly quit working after I installed Apple's latest iMac display firmware update. This is an Intel Core i5; the monitor is an LG Flatron 24" Wide, and when it powers up it says "no video input" and goes into power-saving mode. No amount of replugging cables helps, but the monitor works fine on other computers.
The Displays control panel just shows one monitor, and clicking Detect Displays does nothing.
I suspect Apple's Display Firmware Update. My installer log shows the following, but the problem only happened today after the latest update:
    6/1/10 9:45 AM 27-inch iMac EFI Firmware Update 1.0
    6/1/10 9:45 AM 27-inch iMac Display Update 1.0
    6/4/10 11:47 AM 27-inch iMac SMC Firmware Update 1.0
    6/4/10 11:47 AM 27-inch iMac Display Update 1.0
    6/5/10 7:29 AM 27-inch iMac Display Update 1.0
I have automatic updates disabled, but after each update I would see more firmware updates ready, but caution leads me to never install more than one of these at a time, and then to wait a while to see if anything bad happens. The odd thing is that the Display Update 1.0 seems to have been installed three times in this course of events. Alas, there appears to be no way to uninstall a firmware update.
Here is the System Profiler Graphics/Displays output:
Chipset Model: ATI Radeon HD 4850
    Type: GPU
    Bus: PCIe
    PCIe Lane Width: x16
    VRAM (Total): 512 MB
    Vendor: ATI (0x1002)
    Device ID: 0x944a
    Revision ID: 0x0000
    ROM Revision: 113-B9110C-425
    EFI Driver Version: 01.00.383
    Displays:
    iMac:
    Resolution: 2560 x 1440
    Pixel Depth: 32-Bit Color (ARGB8888)
    Main Display: Yes
    Mirror: Off
    Online: Yes
    Built-In: Yes
    Connection Type: DisplayPort
    Display Connector:
    Status: No Display Connected
It says the Mac sees no display connected, and the display gets no video signal. Since the adapter is an active device (it has powered electronics to convert DisplayPort signals to DVI signals) I suppose it could have just coincidentally died. But that seems unlikely given that the thing worked perfectly just before the last firmware update.
Does anybody have similar experience, or better yet, a fix?

Unfortunately the Apple Knowledge Base does not give much information about this update. Such has how to tell if it has been successfully installed. I suspect that because it keeps recurring in the install log that it has not been installed successfully as yet. Are you receiving this update through Software Update? Can you locate the installer for this update? It maybe located in Apps/Utilities.
Some firmware update installations can be interrupted/corrupted by attached devices. If you find the update's installer on your iMac, I suggest that you detach all external devices from the iMac, use an Apple USB keyboard & mouse if available, follow the instructions carefully and install the update manually. If you do not locate the installer I suggest downloading manually from the link below and installing it.
The Knowledge Base article mentions that your iMac should also have a Graphics Firmware Update. I suggest that you download and install that as well.

updated to new 2014 cc. In bridge when I go to tools/Photoshop/Image Processor....I get this message "adobe photoshop 2014 CC has quit working" Anyone have a fix for this??

I use a  windows 7 pro and have no problem like that from bridge cc when I select a thumbnail then use menu Tools>Photoshop>Image Processor..  I see Adobe Photoshop CC 2014 start up then I see the Image processor dialog and that one file is selected in the bridge I the complete the dialog and click run.  The image files are created. Photoshop remains open after the image files are create with no open documents. I need to click on the bridge in the task bar to bring bridge back into focus.

  • Email from within iPhoto '08 (7.1.1) quit working

I am running Leopard (10.5.1) and iPhoto '08 (7.1.1) on a 2.4ghz 17" MBP. Whenever I try to email a photo from within iPhoto it pops up a window to let me choose size & options, I hit the Compose button, it will then popup a window saying that it is Preparing photos for email... then that window just goes away and it never creates the new email. I see this same behavior regardless of whether or not Mail is already open and regardless of what photo I am trying to email. This was working fine in the past... believe that it quit working after the upgrade to 10.5.1 (but not absolutely positive of that)... Any troubleshooting ideas would be greatly appreciated as I use this feature quite often.
    Cheers!

    Kirk:
Try deleting the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your User/Library/Preferences folder. Next, if needed, download and run BatChmod on the iPhoto Library folder with the settings shown here, putting your administrator login name, long or short, in the owner and group sections. You can either type in the path to the folder or just drag the folder into that field.
    Do you Twango?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

My Bluetooth USB wireless transmitter for my portable BT speakers has quit working.  Preferences says, "The selected device has no output controls", it used to work just fine.  The internal and a pair of wired external speakers work fine.  Can anybody help?

Just tested something and it worked.
If I put the headphones all the way in, the mac recognizes it as a digital output.
But if i don't put it all the way in, it recognizes it as headphones and works perfectly.
    It's probably this crappy headphones.
If anyone has the same problem, try this out.
