Iweb rearranges photo order when making galleries

Every time I drag a group of photos to iweb to create a gallery it scrambles the alphabetical and or numerical order. How can I fix this? Help!
I'm using a macbook pro with 2.4 ghtz chip, Mac OS X (10.5.5), iweb 2.0.4. I do not use iphoto.
Thanks

Are you just dragging the photos from the Finder into the photo's placeholder section? Set the folder to *icon view,* select all the photos and drag into the iWeb photo page. That should maintain the alphanumerical order that was in the folder/Finder.
However if you have sequential numbering I suggest you pad zeros to the sequential number if they already don't have them. By that I mean -001, -002, 010, etc. If you have just -1, -2 -10, they will not import correctly. You'll get -1, -10, -2, -20, etc. If you don't have sequential numbers tacked on the end of the file name then it should be a straight alphanumerical import.

  • How do I sort the photos in the photo pane when making a photo book?

There's a certain order that I'd like to see the photos I want to use when making a photo book.  But the order that I have it in (which is done manually and not by date) in the album does not appear in the same order when I want to turn some of those photos into a photo book.  For some reason the photos that appear on the right side of the screen, "photo pane" show the photos in a different order.  Is there some kind of setting that I'm missing?

No - they are in date order - the only solution I've seen is to ues teh batch change command time & Date command on the photos in the album to put them in date order to match the album  --  or just drag them to the book pages in the order you want them

  • How to keep photo order when opening default photo app?

First it concerns the default photo App: I have created an Album based on recent photos imported from the cloud, there are 125 photos in them, for some reason they are in the wrong order, i.e. by date. I know how to rearrange one photo at a time, but it's painfully slow to go through all 100s of them.
Second, there is the iPhoto App: I downloaded iPhoto app from the iWork suite, that came free for me, it gave me an option to sort photos by date, hooray!
BUT!! when I close iPhoto and reopen the default photo app, the photos were no longer sorted, it was the same order before the sort!
My question is, how on earth do I sort an album in iPhoto and to keep that order when I open the album through the default photo app or indeed any other app that uses the iOS albums such as facebook etc?

As far as i know, you can't, when using iphoto, the sort is only for iphoto, apps on ios do not have access to one anothers data, ever, you can transfer a file from one app to another app that supports the file format but then you have two independent copies of that file.

  • Automatic refresh of photo order when changing photo titles in iPhoto 9.6

I've just moved from an older version of iPhoto to 9.6.
In the previous version, when you changed the title of a photo (within an event), the sort order of the photos was automatically and immediately updated.  In 9.6 it isn't - I have to do View - Sort Photos then select another sort criteria (e.g. date), then do this again for title, to get the photo order to refresh.
Does anyone know if I am I stuck with this new (retrograde) behaviour, or if there's a way to get iPhoto 9.6 to automatically refresh the photo order?
Otherwise, is there a keyboard shortcut for refreshing the photo order, or for changing the view - sort photos criteria?
Thanks in advance for any help!

It will resort if you leave the Event (click All Events button) and then go back.  Not a good solution but quicker IMO than using the View ➙ Sort menu method.

  • Photos missing when making Calendar

    Hello everyone,
I am in the process of making a couple of calendars. I've noticed that after making some red eye adjustments within my photo library, iPhoto removed that photo within my available photos when making my calendar. I tried "Revert to Original" in the library, thinking that the original was no longer available due to the adjustment. No luck.
Is this an ongoing issue? I've noticed an issue with iPhoto's calendar application being able to recognize all my photos available. I know that all of my files reside in the iPhoto Library file and I handle all my importing through iPhoto. I am stumped, any help is greatly appreciated.

Welcome to the Apple user discussion forums
I've noticed that after making some red eye adjustments within my photo library, iPhoto removed that photo within my available photos when making my calendar.
Exactly what does this mean? How did you make the red eye adjustments?
I assume that the photos no longer show up in the calender - what happens when you drag one of them back to the calendar?
Is this an ongoing issue? I've noticed an issue with iPhoto's calendar application being able to recognize all my photos available.
No - there is no ongoing issue with calendars in iPhoto like this. I suspect that your database is damaged but need to know more about the symptoms you are seeing - I'm not totally clear on what you are seeing - and not seeing

  • Imac to ipad 3 rearranged photo order

Each time I try to export an album from my iMac  to my iPad (created in iPhoto after uploading from pixs from 2 camera's memory cards) it will not export it in the photo order that it was created in the album.  Even if it export the album back to a memory card-and insert in the iPad, it does the same.  I did transferred it to a flash drive and it was in the correct order. Thank you and thanks to the board, I did create a DCIM file to transfer the pixs.
Also, why cannot I not drag the photos from the iMAC to the camera chip instead of using the  export button.

Because you've bought an iPad 3, it contains the same amount of pixels, in fact possibly higher, with that of your iMac. I don't believe that the quality would diminish if this is the case.
You could check if the quality's still okay, send it as an e-mail attachment and check the file size. Compare to that of the photo on your iMac.

  • Keeping photos organized when making an album

I recently went on a family vacation, and every day we did something completely different. I am making an album with five distinct sections, and the number of photos that display over the album is beginning to get overwhelming. Is there a way to organize them into categories or folders but have them all in the same album when it's done?

Something like this as Larry mentioned:
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier versions) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. There are versions that are compatible with iPhoto 5, 6, 7 and 8 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. Just put the application in the Dock and click on it whenever you want to backup the dB file. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
NOTE: The new rebuild option in iPhoto 09 (v. 8.0.2), Rebuild the iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup" makes this tip obsolete.

  • Iweb issues - photos are put in a RANDOM ORDER when added to photo grid

My website created with i-WEB contains a lot of photos.
When I add them to a photo grid (on a page using the "Photos" template, by dragging and dropping from Finder) the order of the photos is randomized by i-web.
They are kind of in reverse order (highest file number first) but with a large number of files just randomly arranged in no particular order. The files have simple numerical names like "img_100, img_101, img_102" etc which are in numerical / date order in Finder, but when loaded into i-web are not in any order.
I can't see a feature / option anywhere in I-web to re-arrange images according to name. I can of course manually rearrange them which is fine for a dozen images, but not when I have 500.
I have tried adding a small number of images to see if it's a problem with overloading the software with too many, but the problem happens with 5 images as well as 500.
    (this is i-web '08)
    Matt

The photo app puts files in date/time order and ignores their names.
You can look for another app that may honor file names (sorry, I don't know any to recommend) or you can find a program that alters your file properties. If all the files have properties that read the same date and time, then it defaults to alphabetical order

  • Easier way to rearrange photos in iWeb?

    Hello
I am running 10.4.6 and iWeb 1.1.1 on a PowerBook 1.5Ghz with 1GB of RAM.
OK, when I click a bunch of photos in iPhoto and send them to an iWeb photo page, like everyone else, the photos are completely out of order when the iWeb page opens up. Fine. I start to manually rearrange them.
However - this is a VERY tedious process when you have 60+ photos, and they wind up in nearly reversed order. My process goes something like this:
Scroll to bottom of page. Select photo (left click). Drag (while left-clicking) photo up the page.
Here is where the tedium/problem comes in: I can only see 2 or 3 rows (of 2 each!) of photos at a time - and the page will not auto-scroll while I am clicking and dragging!!
So - I wind up dragging the photo up one or two whole rows. Release the mouse button. Use the scroll wheel to scroll down two rows. Repeat process until photo is in the top row.
Needless to say, this is very time-consuming and I'm going to develop arthritic fingers if I have to do this for 99 photos on each page. I seem to remember at one point (I can't remember if it was iWeb or Homepage - I think it was iWeb) that all I had to do was click and drag the photo to the extreme top of the window (or was it the screen?) and the page would auto-scroll. Then all I had to do was release the mouse button wherever I wanted the photo to go. iWeb doesn't do that any more (at least not that I can tell).
Is there an easier way to do this?
    TIA
    Richard

Hmm, ok, I haven't tried that. Thanks for the idea.
I just wish they hadn't turned off the "auto-scroll" type feature. Creating an album is an extra set of steps now - I like things as easy as possible (which is why I use a Mac...)

When making a photo book, my iPhoto freezes during uploading the book to the storey.  I have attempted this 4 times now and I don't know what to do! I know the file size is massive due quantity of large image files, but I don't want to reduce the image file size and compromise quality in the book. How can I get past this?

Try Old Toad's solution here:   See   Re: iphoto : upload impossible to print a book
Try to boot into Safe Mode and order this way, or sign into a different user account and try to order as a different user.

  • How can I easily rearrange photos in iWeb?

I am trying to rearrange photos on my iWeb pages and seem to have no control over where they land when I drag and drop them. I have several pics on one page and cannot see them all on my screen (G4 17"). Is there a way to view them all so I can see where I'm dragging and dropping? Or do I have to arrange them all in iPhoto first?
    Thank you.

You can use Wufoo as OT suggested, but you can also create your own form by writing you own html code into the html snippet in iWeb. You can also have whatever background colour you want and whatever text colour that you want by inserting the correct code.
Depending on where you are posting your site to determines what you would do and how you would set it up. If you are posting to an external server, then most have Formmail which you can enable to handle your form requirements. I have done this with my own site and hand coded both my forms and it routes via formmail to be e-mailed to me. With this method, you can set the fields to what you want and include exactly what you want. Formmail will then take you to a page that then tells the user what they have filled in and what has been e-mailed. You can configure this page in the form fields to get exactly what you want by way of title, text and background. If you don't like this, you can re-direct to a thank you page or another specific page on your own site.
If you publish to MobileMe however, it does not support Formmail, so you need to set the form to be e-mailed to you.
There are lots of possible options here, so just have a look and see what will work best for you.
I used Wufoo myself at one time - http://www.wufoo.com, but changed because I did not like the idea of a third party holding data and also, if their site goes down for whatever reason, you have lost your form completely, which is not the case if you hand code your own form and use Formmail.

  • ITunes 10.6.3 keeps generating incomplete downloads AND it rearranges the order of the playlist when I burn a playlist to an mp3 cd

iTunes 10.6.3 keeps generating incomplete downloads AND it rearranges the order of the playlist when I burn a playlist to an mp3 cd.
I purchased an album on iTues from my MAC book Pro & the song downloads were incomplete. The song length shows correctly in the column, but they cut off between 1/4 & 1/2 way through the songs. Now, I dwonloaded it on my iPhone 4 through my itunes account after the purchase & the songs play fine. This happened with the very next song I purchased, as well.
I got around this issue, then created mp3 versions of all the songs, put them in their own playlist, then "Burned an mp3 disc." When it completed, the songs were in a different order.
Are there any fixes for either of these problems/bugs?

  • Working on iPad2, I can create new albums from digital camera imports in Photos; however, when the album is automatically imported into iPhoto, it has lost its custom photo or ding and replaced it with a chronological order. How do I reorder them?

Is there a way to preserve the album order and format when it moves from Photos to iPhoto for easy export sharing or advanced sideshow treatments? Can I create the albums on the iPad in iPhoto and format with custom photo ordering? Or do I have to carry and work in Mac?

This is normal and is how Apple handles photos.
    There are NOT duplicate photos.
Just as a song is in your itunes library and you can access that exact same song from a playlist,  all  photos synced to iphone are in the photo library and those exact same photos (NOT duplicates) can be accessed from the individual albums.
It is working exactly as it should.
