Iweb revisions not publishing - site looking crazy.  why? what to do?

Hey there
I'm trying to publish my site (www.whereidstay.com) - and it keeps publishing a crazy version for about 3 of 7 of the pages, with enornous and misplaced text, etc.   I've tested the connection to the ftp server, and that seems to be working fine.  I'm not a pro at this stuff, so I'm stumped!
Any ideas?  I'm hoping to send out a blast email today since our business will be featured on HGTV's House Hunters Intermational tonight, but i don't want to if the site looks crazy!
With thanks in advance
Ashley

First clear your browser's cache (Command+Option+E for Safari) and reload the site.  Check the pages to see if they appear corrent now.  I loaded your site and it appears OK but I don't know if any text is missing.  What's there looks OK.
If there's missing text can you include a screenshot of the page in iWeb for comparison?

  • Can not publish site iweb 08

I have a old site running and the new site will not publish
    any one know why?

    iWeb '06 published to Finder/Go/iDisk/My iDisk/Web/Sites/iWeb.
iWeb '08 publishes to Finder/Go/iDisk/My iDisk/Web/Sites. Go to this folder on your idisk and see if there is anything there.
Your iWeb '08 website URL will be.....
    http://web.mac.com/username/WebsiteName/PageName.html
If your new files are in the Finder/Go/iDisk/My iDisk/Web/Sites folder, enter the URL in your browser to visit.

  • In iweb changes not publishing

Since changing from mobileme server to ftp server, changes to website made in iweb do not publish?

If you are uploading your website files using the iWeb FTP, any old, existing files should get overwritten automatically. Try switching to another browser like Google Chrome or Firefox to view your site.
To find the file manager you need to login to your hosting account.
You can use the freeware Cyberduck to upload files and manage files on the server but it doesn't allow you to view the files on your Mac in the same window as the ones on the server...

  • My iweb would not publish. I made a desktop folder. How do I publish the folder to iweb on mobleme?

My iweb would not publish, I made a desktop folder for my iweb pages. Now how do I publish that to mobile me?

When you have iWeb open, in the navigation column at left, click first on the NAME of your site that you wish to publish -- when you do this, you should have the Site Publishing Settings show up in the main window at right.
Next, from the popup choices next to "Publish to:" select MobileMe.
If this is the first time you are doing this, you will need to type in your MobileMe account (name or email address), and make sure the proper email contact address is input, too.
If your site will be public, you'll all set; if you need to apply privacy settings, you do so here, too.
Now, click on the "Publish Site" button/icon at bottom in the toolbar, or select the same command from the menu bar in iWeb, under File. For the first time, you should choose "Publish Entire Site" (and be patient, it will take a while). Later, when you make changes, use the "Publish Site Changes" (much faster).
When your site is published, iWeb will present you with a sheet window with options to immediate View your site online in your browser, announce it to others (via Mail), or just hit "OK."
    Gooooooooo iWeb!

  • IWeb Revisions not being carried over when published.

I've been trying to revise a few lines of copy on my site but everytime I publish the revisions, the old page appears. I went so far as to erase the site and rebuild the site and the pages - but the old site appears. I went up to my iDisk and clicked on the site and the proper site comes up.
    What's up?
    Thanks in advance.

Most likely your browser is accessing the old pages that are saved in its cache.
Try resetting the cache in your browser. In addition when you try to go to that page with your browser try adding a question mark at the end of the address line, this should force your browser look for the page on the internet rather than in your own cache.
If you post your site address, others on this forum can look at your site and tell you what they are seeing.

  • IWeb '09 upgrade not publishing site

With apologies - I have exhausted the forums looking for an answer that will work, and have found none.
I recently (I know I'm behind) upgraded to iLife '09. I just attempted to update my webpage using iWeb/MobileMe.
iWeb completely announces publication completion but the changes are not made when I visit the webpage through FireFox or Safari (or when I click view page now through iWeb).
What I have attempted thus far to fix the problem:
    - Clearing cache, cookies, and history.
    - Apples suggested resolution of discarding library preference files, iWeb folder, etc in the trash and republishing.
    - Upgraded all software.
    - Yes, I rebooted too.
Does anyone have any suggestions what-so-ever, because right now I want to throw my computer through the window?

    Welcome to Apple Discussions,
Go to File > Publish Entire Site
If that does not resolve the issue:
To ensure iWeb and your Site are functioning correctly publish your site to a local folder http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=iWeb/3.0/en/24906.html
If the site looks good when you open up the folder version then we know the issue is not with iWeb or your website, but with the server you are publishing too.
Are you publishing to MobileMe or to an FTP server?
If you are publishing an FTP server you may wish to contact your host to have them remove the site manually so you can re-publish fresh.
If it is a MobileMe site you may with to contact MobileMe www.apple.com/support/mobileme.
    Hope that helps.

  • IWeb not publishing site updates

Starting today - 5/18/09, A site I have in iWeb is no longer publishing updates. The site publishes to my mobile me account, and is redirected to my domain. This is the page in question - http://www.pitassidesigns.com/Portfolio/Web_Design.html
Besides the code iWeb puts out I have added the favicon code, and Google Analytics Code. For some reason when I made some changes to some images, they do not appear as they should. The first image should be swapped with the second, and now the second image is gone. The google code, and favicon code it still there, and I usually have to re-input it after updates. Also the page in iWeb remains red, as if it was not published. I tried to delete that page and file folder from my idisk, and iweb doesn't publish a new one as it should. I tried restarting and nothing. I tried publishing the whole site, and it remains the same.
Any help would be great, I don't feel like manually writing this page out in Dreamweaver, iWeb is so much easier.

Ignore this. As usual when I decide to post this it works on the 10th try. Not sure what happen there.

  • Why does my published site look nothing like the Muse site I designed?

I have published and taken live several sites and they all looked as expected. The most recent site looks nothing like the Muse site I designed. I published it and BC took me to the home page, where all the background images, graphics, slide show are all missing. Text looks like regular text, not html formatted text. I can't show this. What happened?

Similar situation just happened to me this morning.  Opened a Muse site I was working on and when I preview it the web fonts are not showing and alignment is wierd.  ???  Was working fine last week.

  • IWeb won't Publish site when Podcast is added

I have two seperate sites on my iWeb account. I've tried publishing the first site with the new podcast I created. It worked fine. Then I tried publishing the second site with the podcast. EVERY time I get an error message that says it was unable to publish. I've gone as far as to export the GB3 podcast as a mono cast instead of a full quality movie. The size is about 15 MB. WHAT CAN I DO!?!
Is there a way to publish a podcast without using iWeb?
Why won't iWeb publish my podcast??
    Thanks

    Irish....
there are two possible solutions to fix this problem if I understand your problem correctly. you have two sites, with podcasts on both that you want published at the ITMS.
First... in the SITE ORGANIZER in iWeb. Drag the site you want published to the TOP of the SITE ORGANIZER WINDOW. You say you have two sites, iWeb treats the one at top as the master and publishes that one. I'm guessing that the one you want to publish, and are unable to, is in the lower position.
If you are submitting this new site to the ITMS for the first time, then choose the FILE MENU, then SUBMIT PODCAST TO ITUNES command. Follow the instructions like you did before and you should be good to go.
If you are submitting a new EPISODE OF AN EXISTING PODCAST (think second podcast episode, or new chapter in a book) then you take care of it this way. This is a post I gave to someone in the podcasting forum to help them with a second podcast they were trying to submit to itunes.
Publish your site to .Mac (or your server if it's different)... then PING itunes to let them know to go look for new content on your server (or .Mac). You PING iTunes by cutting and pasting the url addy below into safari and clicking return. You'll get an error message, don't worry, it's supposed to happen. About an hour later, maybe a bit longer, your new episode will be available.
DONT submit your podcast by selecting the "SUBMIT PODCAST TO ITUNES" menu selection again. That command is for your first submission, not your subsequent ones. Think of your podcast as a book. And each episode is a chapter. When you ping iTunes, they go get the whereabouts of the new chapter and make it available for the world to come and read, hear, or watch.
    the PING url is...
    https://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZFinance.woa/wa/pingPodcast?id=INSERTYOURFE EDIDHERE
Your feed ID number is in your original email from the itunes folks when they sent you your acceptance email and said that your podcast was now up and running on the ITMS.
    Hope this helps.

  • IWeb '09 not publishing accurately

This is driving me crazy: Simple elements like words that I am formatting in iWeb with color, font, size, shadow, hyperlink definition, etc., while looking and acting perfect in iWeb, do not make the translation to the published version (publishing to a local folder). These same elements (words) either disappear, change color, change font, revert to pre-saved (or other erroneous) text, color, size, font in the published version. I've tried redoing the site from scratch (one page at a time), quitting iWeb then re-launching, re-starting my computer, removing possible offending elements, but to no avail. Any ideas? Is this a known flaw in iWeb? Helllllllllp........

Try the troubleshooting steps under "Fix iWeb" here.....
    http://www.iwebformusicians.com/WebMusic/iWebTips.html
The restart dumps out all the redundant files.
Three is a bug that has really bugged me which screws up changes in hyperlinks sometimes.
To get out of this one I have to delete the item(s), save, quit iWeb, restart my Mac, relaunch and then add it again.
Painful and slow but it works.
Maybe one day the iWeb developers will try to fix this one!
Apparently they don't seem to care that their incompetence is wasting a lot of my time. Either that or they don't actually use iWeb which is probably more likely as is evident from their many serious blunders.

  • IWeb won't publish site fully.

Hi. I'm having trouble publishing my latest site update with iWeb 1.1.2.
I just did a major update to a photo blog I've been publishing successfully for two years. However, after three days of trying, I suddenly cannot get iWeb (or mobileme?) to publish my site. It will compile the update and save my data, but not publish the entire update -- the progress circle gets hung up for 3-4 hours, before I finally force quit and restart my computer, only to try again and get the same results.
I am trying to update with the usual amount of data I typically do, and thus know from experience that I should be fully published in under 40 minutes. I've plenty of iDisk space, and about a fourth of my update does get published before things get hung up. Any ideas?
(For what it's worth, I see the spinning color wheel a LOT these days when using iWeb, and have had lots of finder issues when trying to publish this latest update -- font problems, apps getting hung, etc.)
    Thanks!

Because I uploaded a "save to folder" version of my site, I've lost the "comments" feature and the advanced slide show features.
Using that approach, perhaps Apple assumes that your site was not made using iWeb and thus iWeb-specific features are unavailable, i.e. Password protection, Blog and photo comments, Blog search, Hit counter and Enhanced slideshows.
How do I get those back?
Perhaps it's not possible if you're publishing via a folder. But to be sure, ask Apple via the email page posted previously.
FWIW, I only transferred the site folder, not the index.html file that was generated with it. Was that unwise?
That "+How to publish a custom website+" doc says: "...upload the HTML files (and any files that go with them) to a subfolder in the Sites folder (in the Web folder) on your iDisk." ...It doesn't mention omitting the index.html file.
On a general note, I suggest you consider more efficient and robust alternatives to iWeb's blog. Since iWeb stores blog entries on your Mac, you inevitably face long and potentially problematic publishing. And there will always be the possibility that you'll have to do a long and slow Publish All. Whether it's because you upgrade to a new version of iWeb or OS X or MobileMe, etc., the possibility exists.
But if you hyperlink from your iWeb site to a web-based blog, you'll avoid this — as your blog entries won't be stored on your Mac. For example, the free Posterous is as simple as blogging gets — you can post a blog entry (including images) via email or from a web browser:

  • Published site going crazy

A couple of days ago I noticed that my site was not too well. It kept producing blue boxes with question marks in them instead of some photos and links. I thought ok, I will download the sitemap again because there were errors on it but to no avail. Then I thought I would update some pages and publish all to mobile me. This still didn't work. It is now worse than a couple of nights ago. Now I am getting the text changing as I jump from one page to another. Sometimes it is ok and other times it is not and as to the blue question marks, sometimes when I click on them it comes up saying Account Error : Inactive and other times it works and takes you to the correct page. I know its the correct page but the public won't. My website is www.headjamgraphics.com. Another thing is that when I put in my full site name which includes the http I can see all the questions and queries on google, how can I stop this from happening.
    Hope someone can help. Thanks
    Annelies

Hello Annelies, (and the other folks having this problem)
MobileMe has been working fine when you had your problems.
You are citing multiple situations (on your posts) that can have multiple reasons
This makes it hard to be of service.
Nevertheless, let me be you knight in shining armour and ask a question :
In System Preferences / International / Language. What is your language ?
iWeb encodes in UTF-8 and sometimes when your system language is other than English but you type English in iWeb and/or use a ligature that's not supported in both languages, well.. that can mess up things.
Let me know if that is not the problem ?
2nd question : what browser did you use (forget this question if you tried several browsers)
    Kind regards,
    Leo

  • IWeb will not Publish.  The publish icon stays red and no changes are made. Please help.

The question says everything.  When I click "publish site," the world icon at the top of the screen stays red (instead of whirling about and turning blue), and no changes are made.  When I exit the program, it says, do you want to exit while changes are still being made?
This is confusing, since nothing seems to be uploading according to the icon.   The website really needs to be updated and I welcome and appreciate any and all help.  Thank you.

See this page for an axample of publishing settings...

If this doesn't get things going try the second method - publishing to a local folder - to see if that works.
