IWEB site lost problem - have archive.html file

I've lost my previously published IWeb site but have found a full copy of it (photos and blog) on my computer here - file:///Users/.../Sites/Site.../J...s/Archive.html. It's no where else to be found. Is there any way/where that could restore this site to the web from this file alone? I had a serious computer issue and have lost many of those site photos.

Jane ~ It's not clear to me what the situation is. Do you have two iWeb Domain files on the same Mac? ...If so, it's okay to keep them separate (in their own folder) and open each as needed by double-clicking. By the way, for searching purposes it may be useful to know that an iWeb '06 Domain file is called "Domain.sites" and iWeb '08 & '09 Domain files are called "Domain.sites2" — although the “.sites” extension is usually invisible.
It's also possible to merge multiple Domain files into one — see this old beta software called iWebSites:
http://mistergregg.com/cocoadrillosoftware/iWebSites/
Post back with more info about what Domain files you have and where they're located and perhaps someone here will chip in with some good advice. But whatever you decide to do, first make backup copies of your Domain files — just in case.

  • IWeb site update problem-app missing images/files, but site is ok

    I created and uploaded a web site to my .mac (yeah, MobileMe) and it displays just fine. I have visited it from a couple of different comps. The problem is that I want to add/update files/pages, but when I open iWeb, several of the images/audio files do not display: shows a x-through and a centered question mark. They are in the sites idisk folder and in the laptop's copy of the files. When I try to replace the missing images/files by dragging onto the iWeb drafting page the following message appears: "the file can't be used because you don't have access privileges, or because it contains no content or was corrupted."
    I'm afraid to make any updates for fear of losing what is already published.
    Extra info: have family pack and am switching between .mac accounts because iWeb published to the iDisk corresponding to the account/sub-account you are logged into (BIG pain in the ***! It should have a password protected account toggle like Panther used). I have double-checked that the files for this site are only in the one iDisk account (am redirecting my masked domain url to the .mac iDisk server-works great.
    Any ideas?

    The upgrade from '06 to '08 which changed the domain.sites to a domain.sites2 caused more confusion, disasters and lost web sites than the bug ridden introduction of '09.
    I ended up rebuilding all my sites from new, blank domain files in '08 and the conversion to '09 went OK apart from '09's nasty habit of changing media file links.
    Fortunately, I have very little QuickTime content and don't use the iWeb Photos, Albums Blog or Podcast templates.
    Most iWeb built sites look pretty awful when users stick to the default page width. I start from a Blank, Black or white page and trash everything on it.
    I use the "standard" 980 px page width and most, if not all, of the iWeb themes do not adapt to this.
    This is why I constantly ask the question. "Do the iWeb developers actually build any websites with the application?".
    Perhaps if they did, we would get more bug free releases and some of the features that "real life" users are requesting.

    I am getting messages that I can't download and read .pdf files since I have the wrong Adobe reader. I know about their security disasters of course, but I downloaded the latest version of Adobe Reader from the Adobe web site and I have other ,pdf file readers as well, and for some reason they won't work either. I have 5 computers running top end processors and RAM. By this I mean I have one, this one which I am using that has an AMD Phenom Black 3.2 Quad-core with 8 GBs of Corsair top DDR2 RAM, my other two AMD have either an Athlon II triple core with 4 GBs of DDR2 Corsair RAM, one with the Phenom X4 965 3.4 GHz Quad-core with 8 GBs of their best DDR2 RAM, and two Intels with the i7 920 Processors using the triple channel 1366 socket processors and one with 8 GBs of low latency DDR3 RAM and the other with 4 GBs of the same RAM. I am getting the message on this one, which has a fresh install of XP Pro X64 operating system, as do the other 4 as well. I have run Avast Business Pro Anti-virus on this one, which I am getting the message on with a single result which I deleted, and also both Spybot Search and Destroy, which came back clean as well as Malwarebytes Antimalware, which got a lot of tracing cookies now removed, and SuperAntiSpware which also found a few cookies also now deleted. Can you tell me what I need to do to get these files to show as .pdf files rather than as a clean blank page. One other issue is that I wish to know how to turn off my downloads so they are saved and Mozilla will give me the option of returning them instead of me losing them all together as it does now. Thanks for your assistance. If there is another Adobe reader I should download and install, could you provide me with the link to it? I appreciate your assistance here
    == When I download and try to read a .pdf file and when I am asked to turn off all Firefox files and if I do, I lose them since I need to know how to save them without rebooting my computer.

    Brilliant! Problem solved! Thanks so much.

  • Problem while printing HTML file

    Hi All,
    I want to print a report in HTML file. The file is successfully created when there is simple query in group, but when I add some formula column, the report generate an error while generating report in HTML format.
    Thx,
    Sameen Jan

    Hi Eins Antony,
    According to your description that you have an report which you have created the subscription to send to email, but in the email the report shrink to the left, right?
    The layout issue can be caused by the new version of the Outlook, Outlook 2007 and later version have very limited support for HTML and CSS that is built into Word to display HTML email messages . Basically Outlook 2007  and later version uses MS Word
    HTML Rendering Engine (Which Makes Web Archive Report Looked Jacked Up) to display an e-mail and will ignores extra space, when MSHTML from Internet Explorer processes the table cell, MSHTML from Internet Explorer displays as much space as possible.
    Note Earlier versions of Microsoft Office Outlook use MSHTML from Internet Explorer to display e-mail, so in the Outlook 2003 you will not have this issue.

  • Problem while archiving faulty files in File Sender Adapter

    Hi All,
    I am facing some problem while archiving the faulty files using Sender File adapter.
    I have configured the option in the File Sender Channel to archive the files to some
    other location. I have configured some custom modules inorder to perform conversion.
    My file adapter is not archiving the faulty files. Please help me in this regard asap.
    Best Regards,
    Surya

    I have checked with all the authorization issues. It is still no archiving the faulty file.
    Can you please explain the mechanism behind this concept?
    How File adapter will decide that it is faulty? On what basis?
    How Modules play a role here?
    Regards,
    Surya.

  • Since yesterday's (Nov 6th) update, firefox fails to load any sites from web (still displays html files from PC). I tried restore, didn't help.

    I've installed the recommended update yesterday (Nov 6th) but didn't restart Firefox. Since restarting the computer this morning, Firefox has failed to open any website from the web. The connection is ok, explorer loads the sites normally, Firefox opens tabs as normal, it's just that the content of the pages doesn't show up, and after a while we get messages like "connection timed out". HTML files that I have stored on my own hard drive display normally in Firefox.
    I tried "restore Firefox" but it didn't help.

    Remove all rules for Firefox and the plugin-container from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

  • JEditorPane problem with showing html file

    Hey,
    I have a JEditorPane in which I would like to show a HTML file that is stored in the same directory (local, not from the web).
           String url = "index.html";
            try
                JEditorPane htmlPane = new JEditorPane(url);
                htmlPane.setEditable(false);
                frame.add(new JScrollPane(htmlPane));
            catch(IOException ioe)
                System.err.println("Error displaying " + url);
            } It should also work once the whole program is "packaged" into a .jar file.
    With the code above I cant get the index.html file to be displayed in the htmlPane.
    Any suggestions?
    thanks.

    The JEditorPane has a method called setPage that loads a URL into the pane, you can always transform internal jar locations to URLs using e.g. CurrentObject.class.getResource("/internal/jar/location/text.html")

  • Was it GoLive or Dreamweaver...tool for laying out site that then creates the html files?

    I can't remember if it was Dreamweaver or Golive...
    I remember a tool that allowed me to layout a web
    site...graphically....I could create a index.html file...then
    about.html, contact.html, services.html....link the structure of
    the files together....such as all files are subordinate to
    index.html...then push OK somewhere and all the files would be
    created. Also you could print out the layout/structure of the
    website.
    Is there such a capability in CS3 DW? I am using Leopard on a

  • IWeb Site seems to have been overwritten.

    Had to reload my OS and lost iWeb content. I reloaded iWeb and unintentionally published a Blank Page Template. I went to iDisc and found my page links ie:
    (URLhttp://web.mac.com/fritzrobert/RobertFritz_Design/home_.html)
    When I click on them I get the message: " We're sorry but we can't find the iWeb page you've requested. It's possible that:"
    Is there any way to go back to the pre mobile me dates and find my missing pages?"

    Did you back up any of your files with Time Machine? Do you still have a copy of your domain.sites file with iWeb?
    If you don't then there is nothing you can do except re-build from scratch.

  • Problems with my html files

    I made a design on Muse for a dating site, when I sent the files to the developers they said they cannot used this "Code generated" files because and I quote: "Most classes and HTML elements in the layout do not have meaningful names (names have the form u3847, widgetu5668 etc.) which makes the analysis and parsing pages on components  very time consuming", PLEASE help me out they said I have to hand code all and I do not have the expertise on this area. \

    Hi
    Muse generates page elements code ids , which we cannot change. But yes you can use your own code and then export the site. I would suggest you to get in touch with coder for this purpose.
    Thanks,

  • Iweb site lost

    I opened iweb and previously saved sites that were not published are gone. Iweb is opening as if I had never saved anything. I did a spotlight search for domiain.sites and nothing is found. Any suggestions from anyone?

    bcrooksca:
    Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Check in your User/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder to see if there's a site file there. That's where it should be located. If it's not there and Spotlight didn't find it anywhere else it's been deleted somehow. You can try downloading SubrosaSoft FileSalvage and run it in it's demo mode to search for a deleted domain.sites file. If it finds one that's recoverable and you feel the cost is worth it you can purchase a license and recover it.
    The only other way to recreate your sites is to start with iWeb and do it from scratch. You can use the photo files and any other files you added by downloading from the site on your iDisk so you'll know what to use.
    In the future I strongly suggest you visit varkgirl's site, http://www.varkgirl.com/Varkgirl/iWeb%20Tips.html, download and use frequently her Automator application for backing up the domain file(s).

  • How to use iWeb to continue editing newly imported html files?

    I've reinstalled my Mac installation without backing up the files for my site. Is there anyway I can download the files of the server and then make them editable in iWeb?

    No. iWeb has no import facility, so if you don't have your domain.sites file then you will have to re-build your site from scratch.
    Also, before posting, search the forum - a post on exactly the same topic as this has just been answered directly above.

    You will at least have to use style.color= "#0000ff" instead of color.<br />
    Also document.all doesn't work in Firefox, so use getElementById() to address specific elements.

    TaohikoHi Taohiko
    Have you made backup of all archived redo log files? If so, why this one was disappeared?
    Have you applied all archived redo log files before that required archived redo log file?
    Please try to recover the database using the following command:
    RMAN> RESTORE DATABASE;
    RMAN> RECOVER DATABASE UNTIL SEQUENCE 29166;
    RMAN>ALTER DATABASE OPEN RESETLOGS;

  • Problem opening archived ID files

    I've tried to open a file done in ID 1.5 in CS3, CS4, and CS5. I get the following alerts:
    InCopy Filter:
    The document uses one or more plug-ins which are not currently available on your system. We strongly advise you do not open the document. Do you want to open it anyway?
    I click open and get:
    InCopy Filter
    Cannot open. Please upgrade your plug-ins to their latest versions, or upgrade to the latest version of Adobe InDesign.
    I am up to date on all my upgrades. Any help to get these files open is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

    Just found this:
    http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/324/324445.html
    Solution 3: Remove the InCopy 1.1 plug-in, and resave the document in InDesign 1.5.x.
    If you are using InDesign CS2, CS, 2.0.x or 1.5.x to open an InDesign 1.5.x document with which you used InCopy 1.1, remove the InCopy 1.1 plug-in, and resave the document in InDesign 1.5.x:
    Note:When you remove the InCopy 1.1 plug-in and resave the document in InDesign 1.5.x, all InCopy data in the document is lost.
    1. Remove the InCopy 1.1 plug-in (for information about its name and location, contact your system administrator).
    2. Open the document in InDesign 1.5.x.
    3. When InDesign returns a message about missing plug-ins, select Delete the Missing Plug-in Data, and click OK.
    4. Save and close the document.
    5. Open the document in InDesign CS2, CS, or 2.0.x or 1.5.x.
