Iweb site not publsishing

Can anyone tell me why -twice in the past several days- my iweb website won't publish? Is this a MobileMe problem? I been publishing this site in the same way with no problems for over two years?

Welcome to the discussions. You could ask Apple: MobileMe live chat support is now 24/7 — see this announcement.

  • Iweb site not showing up in firefox version 3.0

i recently published my iweb site to a folder and put it up on a hosting site, it used to be at .mac, but well...
anyway the photo album part of the pages is not showing up in the firefox at my work: 3.0
but it works fine in safari...
    any suggestions?
    www.thebeautyseeker.com

I'm having the same problem. I just published a blog with photo pages, but the photos do not load using Firefox 3.0. They show just fine using Safari. I've not tried it yet with Explorer, but friends who have logged in have not complained about not seeing the photos, so I suspect the problem is specific to Firefox.
Anyone have an idea what the problem might be?

  • Portions of iWeb site not visible

    Hello
I'm uploading my iWeb site via Cyberduck to A Small Orange
And occasionally, some elements just don't show up. They load, and I can see them as they are loading, but then they disappear. For example, the book in the background here:
    http://gvkauai.jantonbusch.com/HFHGV_trip%3A_GV_10023_Homepage.html
What gives? Should I upload with a different program? When I upload, I do a replace all. Should I not?

For example, the book in the background here:
Do Safari > Window > Activity. Does the file for the book show up as missing? If not, then any visibility problems are presumably caused by something covering it up rather than any kind of uploading issue.

  • Blog page in iweb site not responding or linking like other pages

    Hi
This is a new issue for me. I have multiple pages that I created in my iweb site through my personal domain ... studio8films.net
All page hyperlinks will work properly, but the BLOG page seems to stall and when I look at the bottom of the window it is trying to access www.me.com where ALL THE OTHER PAGES show the access to web.mac.com
Can someone tell me why this is the case? It doesn't make sense. And it is a new issue.

    Furthermore ...
When the BLOG page finally loads, I click on the 'add comment' and a message comes up that says 'We're sorry. We are having a problem processing your request.
Is there something going on with mobile.me and iweb blog pages or is there something wrong on my end?

  • Is it possible to have 2 iWeb sites (not just "Start Site")

I have a great functioning iWeb site, but it is my personal site and I need to create a separate one for my business. Is there a way to do this in iWeb? I don't want to switch back and forth between "start sites"

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Yes, you can have multiple sites. One way is to use iWebSites to create a separate domain file for your second site and switch between the two for editing and publishing. I use iWebSites to manage over 40 individual sites.. It lets me create multiple sites and multiple domain files.
If you have multiple sites in one domain file here's the workflow I used to split them into individual site files with iWebSites. Be sure to make a backup copy of your original Domain.sites files before starting the splitting process and move it to another location on your HD until you're satisfied the separation process is completed and what you want.
This lets me edit several sites and only republish the one I want.
You can have multiple sites in one MobileMe account. They would have their own separate URLs as follows: http://web.me.com/yourMMe_accountname/site name. If you have domain names those would be the URLs you would forward to.

  • IWeb site not downloading documents

I created an iWeb site about a year ago.  Up to date, I haven't had any real issues with it.  However, all of a sudden, the documents that I've made available for downloads from my site aren't downloading for some reason.  I have checked the file directories and made sure that the paths are correct.  Nothing!  They are simple PDF files so nothing too complicated.  Any thoughts on what I should do?
    Site: nhwctr.org
On the 'Reach Across" page I have links "More Info!" and "Apply now!".  Both have PDF files on my desktop that are linked to the site but refuse to download.

Create a folder - PDF-Downloads - and upload this to the root folder on your server so that it site alongside the rest of your website files. This page shows the method for audio files but its the same method for any other type...

If you want the PDF to download to the visitors desktop when the link is clicked you need to create a zip file. See the bottom of this page for how to create a PC compatible zip...

  • Comments - for an iWeb site not running on a mac

So is there some place where I can see exactly what the code for the comments are trying to do? I really want to use this functionality on my personal site (which is running on a linux box).
I've seen the haloscan stuff, but would rather be updating a database I already have running.

Where can I see the code that iWeb uses for
    this?
To see how iWeb does comments with .Mac you would need to publish a site to .Mac and do some exploring. I don't know whether what you would find would be relevant to trying to duplicate this functionality with your own linux server or not.

  • Podcasting on an iWeb site not published to .mac

Hi, I have created a website with iWeb which is hosted externally to .Mac. Everything works fine except I created a podcast (m4a file) which I'd like to include on my site. Can anyone let me know the steps I need to take to get this to be available to people using any PC when they visit my website? Do I need to convert it to another file type, embed a plug-in or whatever? Please explain in idiot proof terms as I'm a novice at this! Many thanks.

.m4a is a pretty standard file format. Sometimes PC users have better luck when they change the extension of the file to .mp4. But I'm not recommending this approach.
Here's where I am going with this... If you publish any kind of media file with iWeb -- video or audio -- iWeb will by default use (or expect to use) QuickTime to play them. This is true whether the site is being viewed on a PC or a Mac. The QuickTime coding is right there in the iWeb generated HTML files. Therefore, as long as your PC viewers have QuickTime installed (the latest version of QuickTime7 preferably), they will have no problem with the .m4a extension files.

  • IWeb site not displaying fonts well in MS Explorer

I have just published my site, created on iWeb, to the internet. It looks great in Safari and on the iPad, but the fonts come out very strange on Explorer: thin and sort of pixilated. Any suggestions for a fix?
    My site is: www.catholiccougs.org

It looks like, at least in the Navigation menu, that your using Palatino font, which isn't a web safe font. So Explorer is probably substituting another font when it finds fonts not installed on the viewers computer.
You may be using the default font in a particular iWeb theme. These aren't necessarily web safe fonts.
For your pages to look better on most computers, change all your fonts to web safe fonts which you can find in the "font inspector window" in iWeb. (there is a "font" button on the bottom edge of the main iWeb window) There, you will find different categories of fonts, you want to use any of the fonts listed under "Web" group of fonts.

  • Flash Animation In IWeb Site Not Showing Up In Internet Explorer

I have created a site for a company and used a flash file on one of the pages. The flash file does not open when looked at from a computer using Internet Explorer, which happens to be the client. Please advise on some possible solutions (besides using IE). Thanks!

I don't know that much about PC's, but you need to open the browser and click on the preferences, I think in the same way as you would do with a Mac and click on select javascript.
Rather than Firefox, get them to download a copy of Safari for PC from the Apple site.
Other than this I am not really sure of a solution, other than telling them to buy a Mac instead!!

  • Background image on iweb site not showing

I created a web site using iWeb sometime ago. I used all of the templates provided with the app. Since "me" has come along, all the content on my page displays, BUT the background image on ALL of the pages no longer shows. I republished the site to see if that would fix the problem, but no dice... Does anyone have any suggestions?

I am searching the boards here, because I am having the same problem. My husband's site had dropped the background image from just one of the pages. I re-built that page for him, and it was fine. Now I'm having the same problem with mine. Again I rebuilt the initial page with the error, but now multiple pages say they're missing the background jpg file. What's up with this? And how do we get it back without having to re-build each darn page???
I have made no changes to my computer. No new updates. Just one day it was there, and the next day it was gone. I am frequently accessing my website to make updates (at least weekly), so is this just some weird glitchy thing?
    Thanks!

  • IWeb site not zooming correctly on iPhone

I am a noobie user of iWeb and have created a web site that will be primarily used on iPads or iPhones. The typical behavior of a website on the iOS is that you can pinch the site to zoom in/out. When I publish my website, it works great on my mac. But on the iPad and especially on the iPhone, the pinch zoom in/out functionality isn't working as I'd like it.
My web page was set up 800 pixels wide. It dwarfs the 480 wide pixels on a iphone. I'd like to zoom out and see the entire page. But when I pinch zoom out, it zooms out until I let go of the screen. It then snaps back to full resolution.
Would someone have some experience with this that could give me some hints what I'm doing wrong here?
    Thanks in advance.

My web page was set up 800 pixels wide...
Welcome to the discussions. I don't have hands-on experience with this theme, but there is this Apple developers document:
    _Safari Web Content Guide_
...In the "Configuring the Viewport" section it says:
"Safari on iOS sets the size and scale of the viewport to reasonable defaults that work well for most webpages (...) *The default width is 980 pixels.* (...) For example, if your webpage is narrower than 980 pixels, then you should set the width of the viewport to fit your web content."
...But before setting the width of the viewport (by adding HTML), I suggest simply making one of your pages 980 pixels wide and seeing if that helps. If it does, you may want to consider that as the solution for all your pages.
By the way, Apple's own design award-winning site at apple.com mostly has a width of 980 pixels.

  • Iweb site not publishing

I modified my web site and I am trying to publish it but it will not publish any change. I am not using mobile me but ftp publishing

Publish your site to a local folder and launch this in the browser by double clicking the index.html file to see if the changes are present in this version. If they are then your problem is with FTP.
Always empty your browser cache after updating and before visiting your published site.

  • IWeb site not working on IE6 or 7

I've just tested my site using the extra developers options on Safari and tried my site in the various browsers available. To my horror my site won't work on IE6 or 7.
A friend has told me that it's because of the version of CSS that iWeb uses is only compatible with version 8.
    Can anyone help me?

  • IWeb site not in .Mac start page

My site used to be in the .Mac home page but I changed the name (just took out 2 underscores) and my site is no longer there. I tried to look on "homepage" but it isn't there either. I "Published to .Mac" and I can log into the site but it isn't visible from .Mac home.

I see. Well, I guess give it some time to show up again in the .Mac homepage. I'm sure it will.
If you are really into counting hits and would like to see the wealth of information that can be gathered on your visitors (and also be able to visit your own page without getting counted), you might like to check out http://www.statcounter.com and add the free counter code to all of your pages.
This takes a little bit of HTML editing, but you can automate this process with a program called iComment or MassReplaceIt.
