Iweb site restoration issues

I had to restore my computer. Everything of course is on my idisk but how can i get my site back into my iweb application without having to remake the whole thing.
If anyone can help please let me know. thanks alot

Your iWeb site is stored under: Username > Library > Application Support > iWeb. There you will find the iWeb site (Called "Domain"). I´m not sure if you have backed that up onto your iDisk.

  • Problems uploading iWeb site, keychain issue

    Hi
I updated my iWeb site yesterday and uploaded, everything fine.
I have done some amends this morning and then tried to upload. I get kicked backs with an offer to learn about MobileMe, which I already have. So I click the sign in button and it tells me I have a Keychain error which prevents access.
    All looks fine in Keychain.
I have gone to system prefs and tried to access my MobileMe account. I am denied access.
I have tried deleting the plists from my library, no effect.
    Anyone got any thoughts?
    Thanks
    Jon

Jon ~ Try this: Quit iWeb. Then  menu > System Preferences... > MobileMe icon > Account tab > click on Sign Out... Then enter a garbage name and password and try to sign in. This apparently clears the MobileMe preferences. Then enter your real username and password. Once signed in, quit System Preferences, open iWeb and see if you can publish.
If that doesn't help and no-one else chips in here with a suggestion, MobileMe live chat support is now 24/7 — see this announcement.

  • IWeb site restore

The hard drive on my iMac died followed only a month by the hard drive on my Time Capsule!! I backed up a lot of stuff on iDisk, but I can't figure out how or if I can restore my web-site. I backed up the Web folder off of my home folder to iDisk. I've restored it back to my home folder, but the iWeb application doesn't find it. From what I've gathered I should have also backed up a file or files in library/application support/iWeb. I haven't got these files. Can I get my web-site back using the contents of the web folder which was off of the home folder or do I really have to re-compose the whole thing?

  • Issues with publishing my iWeb site to .MAC - Progress bar freezes at 100%

Well, as topic says, i'm having troubles publishing my iWeb site to .MAC now since upgrading to '08. The progress bar reaches full circle, but then nothing. Left it uploading to .Mac for well over 2 hours one time while out of the house...nada. Sometimes i get an error message, sometimes not and have to close iWeb while it's still publishing.
    Any feedback regarding this?
    Thanks in advance.
    /Rich

Update: After 36 hours, I have successfully managed to upload my entire website via the "Publish All to .Mac" option. I now have blue indicators on the left side of my iWeb program in place of those pesky red ones. How did I do it? Well, I'm not sure. But on my last attempt I looked at the problem from a different perspective, so I took an alternate approach. I had a feeling that I was experiencing a network timeout issue caused by a 3rd party software, so I created a Whitelist entry on my website filtering software that allows unlimited access to "idisk.mac.com";; and "web.mac.com";; domains. I've got two kids at home, so I'm running the free OpenDNS Dashboard service on my network which provides content filtering (blocks adult site, phishing site, etc..). I started using this service two weeks ago. My last website update was a week before that. I figured I had nothing to loose by trying. To my surprise, it worked. Now, it took almost two hours to publish, of which the pie indicator was in the  "filled" position for a nerve racking hour. To reconfirm,  I then made a minor change to one of the pages on my website and re-published. This time using the "Publish to .Mac" option in place of the ALL option and once again it worked. It took less than 5 minutes. Now, I'm not sure if this is a coincidence, maybe Apple fixed the problem, or maybe my website filtering service was causing some type of time out issue all along??  Don't know.. But at least for now, I'm a happy camper since I have my site up.

  • Issues with loading my iWeb site on my Yahoo hosted ftp

I consider myself pretty good at troubleshooting applications on mac but iweb 09 has really stumped me. My gut feeling tells me its more of a Yahoo site ftp issue but not sure. I'm not sure if anyone else has had this issue with Yahoo web hosting but after I have built my site on iWeb and hit upload it says successful. I go to my website and nothing is there at all. Nothing except an error. This is the site im building for: http://www.peterherro.com/ As you can see there is nothing. Yet I have tried uploaded via FTP in the settings. i even tried using mobileme and having it redirect from the site to the mobileme hosted site. iWeb always thinks it did it's job when i upload but it isn't doing a thing. If i go to my mobile me it shows that my site is uploaded but if i click the clink i get an error. this is the link. http://www.peterherro.com/Main/Welcome.html
I hope this makes sense and I am hoping someone might be able to give me some insight. I hate feeling defeated by this but i am at a lose. Thanks in advance!

Cany you tell iweb to redirect people from your domain name (EX: www.PeterHerro.com) to http://web.me.com/PeterHerro ?
You have it backwards. You tell the place where your personal domain name (Yahoo?) to point that name at your site hosted on iWeb. You can do this via url forwarding, where you just type http://web.me.com/PeterHerro into a form. Or you can do it via CNAME, where you set the www CNAME to web.me.com (plus put your personal name in the MobileMe account settings).

  • Restoring old iweb site from idisk

THrough sheer ignorance, I created a "new Site" in iweb, not realizing it would replace my exiting website, which is far more important. I want to restore my old site. I am able to access the old site through idisk, but have no idea how to relink it so that it reappears as my website. (Someone suggested opening the index.html in plain text editor and correcting the URL, but I have no idea how to do that. Tried opening it in "text Edit" and no URL is there)
Appreciate any help!!!! This is killing me!

TextEdit is what is says - it is an html editor so that you use it to edit html code, so not url will show up as it does in Safari etc. Safari is a browser and TextEdit does what it says on the tin - edits html code.
The easiest way is to go back into iWeb and open your domain file with the site on it and re-publish all of that site and it will be back at the top again. That is assuming that you have the relevant domain fiel and have not deleted it?
If you publish another site in iWeb, assuming that they have different names, they will not cancel each other out, but what will happen is that the second published site will be at the top, so all you need do is re-publish your original site from iWeb and it will be back at the top again.
You can always get to all your iWeb sites via the url http://web.me.com/username/sitename so Site1, Site2 etc.

  • Restoring iweb site from idisk

My hard drive from a Mac with OS 10.4.11 recently died a painful death and was unrecoverable. My files were unfortunately not backed up as they should have been (lesson learned). I have a new Mac and am trying to be able to access my iweb site without having to start over again. All of the files are accessible via idisk, but is there a way to restore them so that I can actually make edits in iweb?
    thanks!

  • Restoring iWeb Site

I have just done a clean install of Leopard and having been bringing in my data in stages. I have a publish to folder of my website on my desktop and also a clone of my previous system on external hard drive. How do I bring my one iWeb Site into the newly installed iWeb 08?
    Thanks
    Stu

in the cloned files you should be able to find the "domain" file in the "username"/library/application support/iweb
put this file in the same place in you new setup.

  • Issues Migrating iWeb Site

I'm having trouble moving my iWeb site from my old MacBook to my new MacBook Pro.
On my old Macbook, I have iWeb 08 (version 2). On my new MacBook Pro, I have iWeb 09 (version 3). I've already moved (from my old computer) my iWeb project (Library > Application Support > iWeb) to the same folder on my new computer. When I launch iWeb on my new computer, the site loads fine, but it looks like I need to re-publish it. However, it's taking forever and it hasn't finished yet. Is there another step I need to do? Is it not as simple as simply moving the iWeb folder contents?
    Thanks!
    B

That's way too long. Stop the process and try the following:
1 - go to the System/MobileMe preference pane and log out of MMe.
2 - login with a bogus username and password like "test" and "test". This clears the caches.
3 - login with your correct username and password.
4 - launch iWeb and try again.
    Next, try:
    1 - close iWeb.
2 - delete the iWeb preference file, com.apple.iWeb.plist, that resides in your User/Library/Preferences folder.
3 - go to your User/Library/Caches/com.apple.iWeb folder and delete the contents.
    4 - reboot.
5 - launch iWeb and see if there's any improvement.
Lastly try Koeklin's fix from his post in this topic: Topic : can't open a domain.sites.2

  • IWEB site lost problem - have archive.html file

I've lost my previously published IWeb site but have found a full copy of it (photos and blog) on my computer here - file:///Users/.../Sites/Site.../J...s/Archive.html. It's no where else to be found. Is there any way/where that could restore this site to the web from this file alone? I had a serious computer issue and have lost many of those site photos.

If I get this old site back into IWeb...
Jane ~ It's not clear to me what the situation is. Do you have two iWeb Domain files on the same Mac? ...If so, it's okay to keep them separate (in their own folder) and open each as needed by double-clicking. By the way, for searching purposes it may be useful to know that an iWeb '06 Domain file is called "Domain.sites" and iWeb '08 & '09 Domain files are called "Domain.sites2" — although the “.sites” extension is usually invisible.
It's also possible to merge multiple Domain files into one — see this old beta software called iWebSites:
    http://mistergregg.com/cocoadrillosoftware/iWebSites/
Post back with more info about what Domain files you have and where they're located and perhaps someone here will chip in with some good advice. But whatever you decide to do, first make backup copies of your Domain files — just in case.

  • My iWeb site can no longer be found by browsers

I have had an iWeb site which has been live for about a month. It has been working perfectly. I have updated several times without any issue. It still appears to be working well within iWeb. I can make changes and publish changes.
I have my own domain name hosted on mobileme
When I now search the internet using any browser, it says
Can't open the page http://www.dhsem.com.au/ because the server where this page is located isn't responding.
I have checked my .mac account and everything seems to be fully functional. Why has my site suddenly disappeared off the internet?
I have tried removing the com.apple.iWeb.plist file from Library/Preferences, rebooting the computer, republishing the entire site, all to no avail.
The site is still sitting in iDisk/Web/Sites.
Everything looks normal from the iWeb side of things. For some reason, no browser can find the server (The IP address of the server is: 118.215.20.59)
    Would appreciate any help

You don't need to get your domain name registrar to do this - you should easily be able to do it yourself.
Firstly, ensure that your domain name is entered into the Personal Domain name setting of your MobileMe account.
Go to your domain name registrar and then set up CNAME forwarding if they provide this and forward your domain name to web.me.com - this is all you need do - you don't need to fiddle with nameservers or anything else like that.
If they don't provide CNAME forwarding then you can use web forwarding instead.

  • IWeb site blank in IE, but perfect in Chrome, Firefox, Safari

    Hello all,
I'm sorry, I know this question comes up again and again, but what I have read and attempted doesn't seem to help my website. I just started using iWeb last week and I really enjoy it. I was using Dreamweaver before which is a great program for CSS and HTML editing, but really doesn't compare to the simplicity and speed of designing with a WYSIWYG like iWeb.
So are there a few big culprits as to why iWeb sites don't display in IE 6,7, or 8? I realize this is pretty much an Internet Explorer problem, but can I fix at least some of the content without doing a ton of hacking to my site?
I am already fixing one issue using Dreamweaver:
    iWeb: +<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>+
    instead of: +<xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8">+
...so I'm not afraid to publish with iWeb, then edit a few things in the HTML/CSS. Can anything be done? It's a fairly simple website: mantheipc.webege.com (ignore text content, needs a lot of revision).
    *Other info:*
    Free hosting via 000webhost.com
    iWeb '08 2.0.4
    OS X 10.5.7
    Dreamweaver CS5
    Uploading via FileZilla
Tested to work under Firefox, Chrome, and Safari (Mac+PC)
Tested and failed to load in IE 6,7,8 at http://ipinfo.info/netrenderer/
Tested and failed to load in IE 6 on XP Laptop
Thanks a lot for your time,
    Dylan

Removing the first line of every HTML document permits the site to load in IE.
    <xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8">
To figure out why IE wouldn't display my site, I created a new blank page and added an image, a hyperlink, a text box, and a fancy CSS text box. I also set a background gradient and page color. The page wouldn't display in IE, so I started deleting HTML by hand with a text editor starting with the most likely culprits (in-line CSS, javascript, etc). I was down to an image, hyperlink, bgcolor, and center tags and the site still wouldn't load. Realizing these are the most basic html tags there are, the only thing left that could cause a problem was that first line.
While I realize this is not at all an ideal solution, it worked. Not only does the site load, but it looks about as good as it does in Firefox and Chrome. No transparency issues or anything! The first line isn't vital to site display, but it does cause the browser to 'guess' what type of encoding the page is in. All of my testing indicated this isn't an issue on my PC or Mac, but I need to try friends and family's PC's too.
    Tested good on:
IE8, Firefox, and Chrome in Windows 7
Firefox, Chrome, and Safari in MacOS Leopard
Thanks again to everyone who read and contributed!

  • Can't publish my iWeb site - has index file something to do with it?

Hi, I've been trying to publish my iWeb site (not on a .Mac account but through ftp upload) but it hasn't worked out so far... I phoned my webspace provider's support service and the wguy I spoke to was convinced that it's due to the index file not being an .html file (he thought that the problem lies with the index.xml.gz file). Searching the discussions on this site, I figure that this isn't what's causing the problem after all...
To continue working on the site while using another computer, I copied the 'Domain' over. Now that I've brought it back to the original computer, it seems to be causing these problems. Any idas what I could do or where the problem lies? I'd be really grateful for any hints as it's driving me 'round the bend! Cheers, A

Did you name any of your site's pages "index"?  That can cause problems.
Are you able to publish your site to afolder on your hard drive and open it locally with your browser?  If you haven't tried  do so and see if you can.  If you can and the site works as you designed it then the issue is in the uploading of the files.
In that case you might try using  Cyberduck to upload your site folder and  index.html file to your server.

  • IWeb site registered but not showing up in Google

I've registered my iweb site through google's webmaster tools using DNS since my domain name is registered through go daddy. I've also got an account for it on google analytics using iWeb SEO but when i search google for my site, nothing shows up. I've even typed my website in verbatim and I still get nothing.
is there something else I need to do to get my site listed? I've started adding title tags and meta data to my most important pages (home and blog) to see if that would help. When I had my blog on wordpress and verified it through google webmaster it showed up the next day in search and i didn't even have to do any of the SEO like meta data.
I feel like i've missed a step, or maybe iweb is not as easily indexed?
    HELP!

Further information regarding the details would be helpful. However, if the site is unreachable it may be due to a known issue between GoDaddy and MobileMe. I spoke with tech support today regarding a similar issue with a iweb account that I have a DNS for through GoDaddy. The issue is being looked at by the support team and hopefully will be resolved quickly, but it I was advised that the issue appears to be from attacks on the iweb side which require the DNS address to be taken offline temporarily.
