Iweb sites and visualization troubles

I'm having some trouble in the site I created by Iweb. When I click on a thumbnail in a photo page the image appears but the lower part of the frame with the navigation buttons doesn't appears at all. So it is impossible to browse the photos in the page in full dimension. I tried to reduce the dimension of the images but the problem remain unsolved. If I try to read the content of the site from a local directory in my ibook everything works fine!
Here is the link http://ricase4.mybesthost.com
Any idea?

Your Web host (server) is borrowing part of the page height to place their advertisements. Since the window height is fixed the bottom of the window will be cut off.
Find another host that doesn't add advertisements to your pages or edit the javascript for the slide show to increase the page height.

can other people upload pictures to my iweb site and other people comment or rate them? if so how?

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. If you use a MobileGallery from iPhoto to house your photos and videos you can set it up in the settings so visitors can upload items to the gallery via email.
You can them embed the gallery in an iWeb page like this: MobileMe Galleries and Quicktime Movies.
I've not tried emailing a photo to a gallery so can't comment on how well it works.
For photo pages or album pages in iWeb visitors can add comments and attachments, photos, which other visitors can view. How they are added I don't know. Here's what the iWeb Help says about that:
    +*About visitor comments and attachments*+
+If you publish your site to MobileMe, you can let visitors add comments and attach files (which other visitors can download) to blog, podcast, and photos pages. These comments and attachments are visible to anyone who visits your website. To prevent automated programs from posting spam to your site, anyone who posts a comment is first required to type a displayed group of characters.+
+Comments appear as soon as they’re posted, and you can delete a comment and its attachment at any time using iWeb or by visiting your site with any browser. You can also turn off comments to prevent new postings without affecting the comments already posted.+
+Comments and attachments are stored on your iDisk. Each comment can be a maximum of 32 kilobytes (KB), and each attachment can be up to 5 megabytes (MB).+
+IMPORTANT:Before posting anything to your website, make sure you own the copyright and other rights to what you or others are posting, or that you obtained all necessary permissions.+

  • Can I publish iWeb sites and Gallery albums in one place?

My Gallery has 66 personal photo albums of simple events (each photo with a caption). Using iWeb, I also have created a multi-page personal website of photos for each of 16 complex events (each site has a welcome page followed by 3-5 photo pages, and all pages have a few sentences of introduction). Now that my beloved Apple has spurned me, I'm hoping to get even, sort of, and post everything--all my photo albums and all my photo websites--in one place. This requires more complexity than I've seen in hunting among suggested replacments for iWeb or Gallery.
In my drooling ignorance, I can imagine a website that has a few levels. On one level are key photos for all gallery albums PLUS key photos for all websites. A user clicks on the main photo of an album or website, and it opens either an album's photos (the current gallery way) or a site's welcome page.
As best I can tell, I want too much. As promising as a site like Zangzing appears, it and others are limited to a single level of photos or to some six interior pages.
Level one shows the key photo for each gallery album AND a key , and has a grand welcome page with linkClick on an album photo and it opens all the album's photos. Click on a website photo, and it opens to s that read, say, "Albums 2000-2005," "Albums 2006-2012," "Websites 2000-2005," Websites 2006-2012." At the next level, each album and each website appears . A Even better would be page links that intersperse albums and websites in chronological order. A user click on the main photo of an album or website and it opens either
lists albums in, say, five-year clusters an  for --, perhaps one page for lots of links, maybe albums by years and websites by years.
albums top-level row of albums (like Gallery) with the websites peppered among them. Click on a website photo

PLEASE IGNORE ANY EARLIER VERSION. IT'S A DRAFT OF THE FOLLOWING QUESTION . . .
My Gallery has 66 personal photo albums of simple events (each photo has a caption). Using iWeb, I also have created 16 personal websites of photos of complex events (each site has a welcome page followed by 3-5 photo pages, and all pages have a few sentences of introduction). Now that my beloved Apple has spurned me, I'm hoping to get even, sort of, and post everything--all my photo albums and all my photo websites--in one place. This requires more complexity than I've seen in hunting among suggested replacements for Gallery or iWeb.
In my drooling ignorance, I can imagine a master website that has a few levels. On one level are key photos for all gallery albums PLUS key photos for all websites. When a user clicks on the key photo of an album or website, it opens either an album's photos (the current Gallery way) or a site's welcome page.
As best I can tell, I want too much. As promising as a site like ZangZing seems, it and others seem limited to a single level of photos or to some six interior pages (far fewer than my 16 iWeb sites). Maybe I could create a grand entrance page that has links that read, say, "Albums 2000-2005," "Albums 2006-2012," "Websites 2000-2005," Websites 2006-2012." But then I'd be burying the albums and sites themselves at lower levels.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • Two people sharing one iWeb-site and contributing?

Is there any possiblities in iWeb for me and my brother to create an photoalbum with iWeb and share the same photoalbum from different .mac-accounts?
Tip me of other solutions if not possible Thnx.

Not easily without some extra messing around with files behind the scenes.
Have you tried flickr? http://www.flickr.com Many people swear by this site and, since it's internet based instead of being based on a file in your computer, you can place photos there from multiple users logging into the same account.

  • Muliple iWeb sites and publishing into folders

    I have 2 questions.
    1) I want to be able to have multiple iWeb sites that are unique to each other. Is there an easy way to do that?
    2) Related to the 1st question, I am trying to publish just one folder (or site) within the iWeb window. I imagine that would be easy if I knew how to do question one. But in the possibility that a iWeb would have multiple site folders within them, is there a way to just publish one to a folder? I am using iWeb to publish to an external webhost (not .mac) and havent been able to figure this out. I have always been able to just publish all to a folder and then just cherry pick what I want to ftp upload to the hosted site.
Thanks in advance for any help you can give...

    Ken:
Here's how I handle multiple sites:
One way to handle multiple sites is to use iWebSites. It lets me create multiple sites and multiple domain files. If you have multiple sites in one domain file here's the workflow I used to split them into individual site files with iWebSites.
For me it makes updating/editing several sites and then publishing only one very easy.

  • Can I have someone optimize my iWeb site and then re-import it?

I hired someone to optimize my iWeb site put the keywords in the Title, Meta and
place the keywords in the ALT-tags for the images.
Is it possible to re-import the edited website back into iWeb 08. I've tried dragging it, but it didn't work, I've tried creating a new site but only have the option of themes. Am I missing something that somebody knows about? I really appreciate some input,
Also, do you know if there is a better way to optimize these sites inside of iWeb or a separate software program I should use?

  • My iweb site and some observations

    here:
    http://web.mac.com/neoverse/iWeb/Site/Welcome.html
I like it but until it supports flash and custom html, I can't really use it for my music site.
for personal use though, it's exquisite!

i would just dump the .mac and buy a domain. Bluehost will set you up for $6.95/month..there are plenty of others out there as well. You wouldn't "link" to your .mac address you would publish to a folder in iWeb then copy those files to your new domain (they would be able to tell you where to copy the files to once you purchase it).

  • Much more PNG files in iWeb site and make it slowly

I found that iWeb will change some text into PNG files, it cause anyone can not copy the text from my page, and make the page size bigger and slowly.
And then, I don't know when iWeb will change text into PNG, when it will not. Sometimes when I write some words in the page, and publish, I can see the words are in text format, but when I continue adding words in it and publish again, I found that all the words has been changed into PNG.
So, when a page loading in Safari, I can see much more image files in my page, but not text+image same as a normal web page.
All that make the site loading very slowly. I don't like that if iWeb look like this.

Instead of creating a hyperlink and then choose a file, put the pdf(s) on the server yourself first.
Create a separate folder for them.
Then determine the URL(s) to the file(s).
In iWeb add a hyperlink *to an external page*. Use one of the URLs to the pdfs.
Now you can update the pdf without iWeb.

  • Iweb site and locking photos so people cannot print or download.

    Good morning all,
I finally moved over to a MAc and I cannot even begin to explain how happy I am to be away from the windows ****.
My question is in IWEB 08 on my website I want to lock the photos from downloading or printing. This is a site for our personal business not our shared site for friends.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thank you for any help.
    Dan

You can select "none" for download size in the page inspector in the page area.
I believe web albums created in iphoto does a better job of it though and they can easily be linked to iweb.
If someone wants them bad enough they can generally get them in some form or another.
    You might consider watermarking.

  • Moving my iWeb site and need to tell iTunes

I currently have podcasts on iTunes that I posted using iWeb and MobileMe.  I'm about to move my iWeb-produced site to another provider, but I can't figure out how to tell iTunes that the site has moved.  Where in iWeb do you put in "tags"?!?  The directions on http://www.apple.com/itunes/podcasts/specs.html doesn't match anything that I can do in iWeb.  Where in iWeb do you find the feed and metadata?  Where in iWeb do you set it up so that it returns an HTTP 301 response?  Or would it just be easier to tell iTunes to kill my current podcasts and then in a few days resubmit my podcasts as something new?

You can do this but it's a bit messy. Go to your iDisk, to the Web/Sites folder, and in the folder which has the name of your podcast locate the feed file - I think it's called rss.xml, but anyway it should be obvious. Download this.
Open this in TextEdit in plain text mode, not Rich Text which may be the default. Add this line just below the 'channel' tag:
    <itunes:new-feed-url>URL OF YOUR NEW FEED</itunes:new-feed-url>
Make absolutely sure the URL is correct - if you make an error you will not be able to retrieve it.
Save: TextEdit may try to add .txt on the end - don't let it. Make sure the filename and extension are exactly the same as before. Upload this to the same folder on your iDisk, replacing the original.
DO NOT publish from iWeb to your iDisk again or you will overwrite this change. Leave the file there until MobileM closes. You do not need to notify the iTunes Store. Subscribers will see the change at once (they won't notice it) and the Store will probably take a couple of days to pick it up.

  • IWeb site and safari

I have two web site up using iWeb one ftp and the other is moblie me. When I look at them in safari they look just fine, but I can't use the smaller or larger type comand. In firefox they work but not in apple own safari. Very curious and not sure if this belong here or in safari help. I look and searched both but I must be the only one with this problem.

No, I don't hate it. I just feel so very sad about it. Firefox works better for me. It has Rikaichan, a Japanese translator add-on. Safari can't compete with that.
And Safari4, well, it's a beta, the most pitiful beta I've ever seen. It does have some bling and iCandy, but I want a work horse. Let's say it's the Tiny Tim of browsers. You can have your fun with it.
You could make a trial page, publish it, then change the theme and each time check it out. Make a list for other users. Just an idea. You could even duplicate one of your pages and use that one in a separate trial site.

  • IWeb sites and Googlebot

Other than submitting one's site url to Google, is there a way to increase one's chances of showing up in a Google search? Is the configuration in iWeb going to prohibit the effectiveness of web crawlers? The webmaster tools in Google ask for some pretty complicated information.

iWeb does not support databases nor interactive page. Neither does dotMac.
You can install MySQL on your computer. PHP is already present.
    Start with [MAMP|http://mamp.info/en/index.php]
You have to create the webpages yourself.
You can however integrate these pages in iWeb with the HTML Snippet. Or you can customize the published iWeb page with an HTML Editor of your choice. Which you need anyway to create PHP pages.

    http://web.mac.com/wyodor/Ajax/
The same would apply to Windows, so it is not really Apple specific.

  • I'm trying to publish my iweb site and its taking forever to publish its been two hours and the moon is still on about 15%

I don't understand why this is happening, would i be able to close my laptop while I sleep would it ruin the upload of the site? This is very annoying. please can some one help me!

You & the whole world are trying to contact Apple's servers all at the same time.
    Wait.

  • How can I transfer JUST ONE IWeb site to another computer?

I am new to making IWeb sites and am now making them for
other people. I have about 10 sites in my IWeb folder and need to
be able to give a person's site to them.
I need to be able to transfer JUST ONE site to another computer.
Right now, I am only able to transfer ALL the sites I have made to
another mac and then, it wipes out all their sites! How can I prevent
the ultimate wipe out of all their iweb sites yet give them JUST ONE
    of mine?
    thank you in advance,
    Beth http://www.yourzensite.com

First, read Wyodor's post about changing the publishing settings HERE.
You can create the extra folders in Home Folder/Library/Application Support/iWeb or, as I do, in a folder named iWeb in the Home folder.
Create a folder for each website, give it a suitable name and paste the Domain.sites2 file with all the websites into each.
Open each one in turn, double click the Domain.sites2 file to launch it in iWeb, delete all the sites except the one whose name is the same as the folder name, save and quit.
Now you can launch any site individually in iWeb and sent a copy of the appropriate folder to the client.
