Iweb slideshow problems

I have created a slideshow with music in iphoto. When i export it to iweb and publish it to my site the video only plays for about 5sec then it stops completely. But the video works fine if i just play it on my computer. I Have called godaddy and asked them. They say its nothing to do with the publishing on there end, that it something with the code. I have tried publishing to folder and using filzilla but still no luck.

Did you use a single audio file for the sound track or is it a compilation of two or more dragged in from iTunes?

  • More iweb slideshow reflection questions...

    Hi,
I also want to get rid of the reflection in iWeb slideshows. I have searched and found the instructions on how to fix this through "terminal". Only problem is that I don't understand how terminals work. Can someone please explain it to me? I tried and it felt a lot like advanced programming!
    Thanks,
    S

I'm not sure which instructions you have found, but here is a tutorial written by Will Englefield on the topic of removing reflections from the Apple enhanced slideshows. I've looked through it and it seems that all that is required is a text editor....no terminal work! Have a look....

  • IWeb slideshows not showing...Safari only?

During the last few days, when I check out iWeb slideshows I have created for my school using my Safari browser, the photos aren't displayed.
All I see on my Mac is the "Play Slideshow" graphic and the number of pages are shown but nothing more. The "Play Slideshow" graphic is not active or clickable at all.
The slideshows work fine in other browsers like Google Chrome and Firefox but not Safari? (see 2 pics below)
I get the same result whether the site is FTP'd or hosted on MobileMe.
Works on everything but my Safari but works with Safari on other computers???
I have reset Safari but still get same result.
Not sure what to try next.
Attached pics show Safari screen and Google screen.....note no pics on Safari screen????
    Thanks for any suggestions!!!!

    Hey! Got it fixed!
Went by Apple Store to get some Genius help.....
Did a few different things suggested like logging in under different acct....same problem!
Started up in Safe Mode....same problem!
Then read in one of these threads about problems being caused by running in 32-bit mode.
Quit Safari, unchecked 32-bit mode in info window and restarted Safari and what do you know????
Those slide shows now show up!!!!
Thanks to all who had suggestions!

  • IWeb Slideshows

1 year ago I bought a new imac and iWeb. I've made about 10 sites.
The slideshows look great on my iMac. They are anout 630px wide with a nice reflection.
BUT!! on my PC, they suck. I tried to show someone my art work on the their PC, I was shocked. The images appear no bigger than matchboxes surrounded by a huge amount of black. I have a newish PC and it's just the same.
Does anyone else out there have the same problem?
I uploaded my pics to Flickr, dropped the code... success ... until I discovered
you can only have three set without going pro .... so no good for me.
Slide.com .... no end out unrelated advertising ... useless for my website
Myspace, well, their slideshows now autostart, not way of stopping them, no controls .... and they have annoying rounded corners which are getting very fashionable which I don't like ...
    Anyone any advice?

    Dear kim plygeaw,
Alancito posted "Re: iWeb Slideshows" in "iWeb Slideshows" on Nov 28, 2008 1:39:02 AM.
Kim ~ The slideshows on your Flickr account are so much bigger and better than the slideshows on your iWeb site. So why not either hyperlink to your Flickr slideshows or embed your Flickr slideshows in your iWeb site? You are already familiar with Flickr slideshows, but for other forum readers who perhaps are not, here are some details...
Before clicking on the hyperlinked thumbnail below, note that mouse-over of the slideshow page will display many options — including a full-screen button at lower right. The viewer can pause the slideshow (button at lower left) and then click on the thumbnails in any order...
Click to open slideshow in new window
It's also possible to embed the slideshow into your web page via iWeb's HTML Snippet window — see this article: Flickr's slideshows get cinematic, viral. Notice that the sample embedded slideshow there, once playing, also shows the full-screen button at lower right. And clicking it doesn't take you out from the current window/tab — it simply goes into full-screen mode (and hitting the Escape key exits that mode).
By the way, Flickr's maximum pixel size is 1024. You can submit larger, but they'll be compressed and resized by Flickr. See this FAQ.
I have just spent a good while getting nowhere logging in here, finally got into my account, phew!:
Tks for the message and have posted Alancito's message above that didn't show up.
I started out with high hopes at Flickr, I could post their fabulous networking slideshows onto my iWeb page, add related videos too from YouTube which play many times faster than my better quality but internet sticky Quicktime vids, and so on, music from playlist.com sound effects and so on making the slideshows have a contextual setting on each webpage.
BUT, the crunch came at Flickr when I discovered you can only make 3 album sets on the free account, therefore only 3 separate slideshows, DAM! The only way round it is to go Pro for unlimited. As I have currently 2 iWeb hostings, I'm not in the mood to keep adding more expense.
Sooooo, the solution for me: I went over to Gmail 'Pica. Their slideshows are good, I customize the code so say at 800px wide I go down 800px instead of 566px for the vertical pics get as much TLC as the horizontal . You can change the code to make them any size like YouTube videos and with an autostart option which myspace doesn't have. There's no advertising at the end like Photobucket and Slide.com and a nice piece of software that's for mac so you can drag and drop pics to upload update the shows.
They also behave well on old PC's!
    http://picasa.google.com/
I started out making my sites with iWeb to add a professional edge to my free networking sites, I didn't even link to them. I feel a little foolish now as that's were the people are, and so now I'm mixing them all together. There needs for people to leave a networking site to go to a private website, and vise versa, and I'm still working on that. I've very surprisingly had 45,000 hits on a rather modest YouTube this past 6 months, a small account with 90 short videos, how to get that traffic over to my website is my next project! So the slideshows and websites better mean something more than they get on free networking sites and not be an anti-climax

  • Lost iWeb Slideshow icons

I have updated the slideshow content of my iweb site and for some reason have lost the navigation (back|pause|next) icons that go with the slideshow. They have been replaced with the ubiquitous "?" icons. Is there a way to restore these icons?
    Thank you.

  • Iweb slideshow

Is there a way to change the background color in iweb slideshow to black without posting it to a .mac account.
    thanks

    Hey there,
welcome to the Apple iWeb Discussion Forums!
Select the photopage, open the inspector, go to the Photos tab and then click on Slideshow.
At the bottom of the slideshow tab there's "Page Background" there you can select Black as the color for slideshows.
    Regards,
    Cédric
Sorry just noticed you posted the question in the iWeb '06 Forum... I don't know if it's the same for iWeb '06 I never used it sorry...

  • IWeb slideshow: thumbnails intrude on photo

    HI all.
I created an iWeb slideshow, but the band of thumbnails at the top runs on top of the large image. Looks awful, and I can't show this to colleagues. Any idea on how to format the photo files so that they appear full frame? Thanks for your help, Mac folks.
    Loren

are you talking about the .Mac iweb slideshow? the lines of photos only appears when you have your mouse over it!
or in the photo page the collection of photos is running over another photo? then just move the box around!

Finally got my head around non iWeb slideshows, I would appreciate feedback, comments or criticism.

I like those slideshows. You menu on the right side of the pages is cut off a bit, one character in the portfolio and slideshow links. Portfolio is portofli with the o one the next line. This is with Safari 3. Firefox displays it fine.
What did you use for the slideshows?

  • Please help with slideshow problems!

Am using Photoshop Elements 8 and trying to make a slideshow. Have tried 4 times now and keep ending up with same problem, cannot reopen project to continue edititing.  Won't show up in orginizer and when I find on harddrive and try to open get message " wmv file cannot be opened".  How can I save a
slideshow inprogress and be able to reopen and continue to edit and make slideshow?  I want to thank anyone who can help me with this in advance as I
have gotten so frustrated that I want to just scream.
    Thanks

Thanks for the help, thought I had done so but maybe not.  Anyway will have another go at it, now may I ask another
question?  I am trying to add audio to slideshow.  I have some music I purchased thru amazon as mp3 files but I get
message no codec and when I try to add wmv I get same message.  What type of file do I need and how can I add
multiple songs to one slideshow.   I have one little wmv file that will go in, but it just replicates itself multiple times until
    it fills slide show.
Thanks again, sorry to be a bother, but this thing is driving this old man crazy.

Subject: Please help with slideshow problems!
You need to save the slideshow project in order to be able to go back later and make changes or additions to an existing slideshow . The wmv file is a final output format.
Now you are most probably using only the Output command: that is what makes the wmv file.
You should also do the Save Project command. (and I make it a practice to do the Save Project command before I do the Output command).
If you look at the Elements Organizer 8 Help, there is a topic on "Create a slide show".
-- Very close to the beginning of that topic is a screen shot of the Sldie Show Editor screen,
-- The bar below the usual menu bar is labeled with a "B" and called the Shortcuts bar.
-- The 1st entry on that Shortcuts bar is "Save Project"
It is the Save Project command that saves the information about which photos, audio, etc you placed in that specific slide show so that you can come back again to do subsequent editing.  Save each Project with a unique name.
After completing the Save Project command, you shoud see an "icon" in the Organizer for that slide show.
Note:  you must also keep the photo files and audio files which you have used in this slide show: you can't delete them because the project file does NOT contain a copy of the photos, it only has the identification and folder location of the photo and audio files.

  • IWeb Slideshow help/problems/question

Hi everyone. I've been searching through all the posts and keep trying to use various methods to create a pop-up slideshow inside my iweb page. Nothing is working OR maybe it just can't be done?
I need some expert help to check this one out for me. It would be soooooo appreciated at this point. Many of you seem pretty advanced with getting around the limitations of iweb.
Here's my site, created all in iweb. In the "Design & Print" page I'd like to put a hyperlink that opens a new window with a flash viewer like simpleviewer. It seems like a real pain but I have to conquer this problem. Thanks everyone for your help!!!!
    Main site:
    http://www.razorheadsnyc.com/main.html
    Problem page:
    http://www.razorheadsnyc.com/design_print.html

OK, here's what I would do:
    1. Get this program:
    http://mountainmandan.net/webexport
Adds a tab to iPhoto Export pane to export SimpleViewer or other slideshows.
Upload the resulting folder to your server. So the address would be
    http://www.razorheadsnyc.com/nameofslideshowfolder/index.html
    2. In iWeb, make a link on the design&print page to
    http://www.razorheadsnyc.com/nameofslideshowfolder/index.html
    3. Publish to a folder as usual, but don't upload yet
    4. Now you will need to make a slight change in the html code in order to make this link open in a new window. You can open the html files generated by iWeb in any text or html editor. In TextEdit, to view the code in an HTML file, choose File > Open and select "Ignore rich text commands." Then locate the desig_print.html file and click Open.
    Find
    href="http://www.razorheadsnyc.com/nameofslideshowfolder/index.html"
    Replace with
    target="_blank" href="http://www.razorheadsnyc.com/nameofslideshowfolder/index.html"
Or, if you want to specify the size of the window,
    Find
    href="http://www.razorheadsnyc.com/nameofslideshowfolder/index.html"
    Replace with
    href="#" onclick="javascript:window.open('http://www.razorheadsnyc.com/nameofslideshowfo lder/index.html','_blank','width=x,height=y,toolbar=0,menubar=0,resizable=0,loca tion=0,status=0,scrollbars=0,directories=0'); return false;"
x and y are the dimensions you want the window to be.
Remember, if you make a change to a page like this post-publishing, and later re-publish, you have to make the html changes again! Set up a Find/Replace command in MassReplaceIt and you can do this very quickly. You can save your queries so you can make all of your changes with one click the next time you save.

  • Problems with missing forward and backward arrows in iweb slideshow.

    Can anyone help?

The only way i could get it to work was to open the "domain" file in a different mac. Then the arrows appear.

  • Font cut off in iWeb slideshow

I'm having all kids of font problems working on my website, looks like iWeb has some issues. Right now I would like to fix the font on my slideshows. I set the caption number to 5 on the Album page, then when you click on an image and go to its own page the caption is low down and hard to read because it overlaps with the design line there (not to mention I cannot control the font on these single image pages). In Slideshow the last line of the captions just get cut off. Annoying! Anyone know about this?

What's the URL of your site so we can examine it first hand?
Cyclosaurus posted directions to let users put additional elements on that particular page and not have it interfere with the photo. The post is about putting text below the photos but should work for any object. I've not tried it so can't comment on it's effectiveness

  • Tiny iWeb slideshow in iWeb 08

Hello, I just upgraded to iWeb 08 and realized that the former slideshow function on photo pages (black background with reflection) now shows very small versions of my photos, more like thumbnails than the actual photos, and in any case much smaller than before – which makes the slideshow unviewable, or with very limited interest. Heck, the controls (pause, play, forward, etc.) are nearly as big as the pictures! Strange because in the photo page (index) if you click on a picture you get a large version (with a new strip of the photos above it, which makes it redundant with the slideshow). What a mess! I checked out photo pages by other users and noticed the same reduction in size of the pics in slideshows.
Question: Are other users also noticing this? Is there any setting to get back to the same dimension of photos in slideshows? Should I re-import my pictures?
    Thanky you for any feedback!

This problem is discussed in a couple other threads:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1106210
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1090329
Given the high proliferation of laptops, I'm surprised that the slideshow works so poorly on a laptop. The slide show is essentially thumbnails. Previous iWeb version made great use of the entire screen independent of what type of display whether a large desktop monitor or smaller laptop display.
Use the feedback link below to let Apple know that this is a serious shortcoming of the new iWeb:

  • Autoviewer slideshow problem

    Hi People,
I have been trying to insert a simpleviewer slideshow into iweb, managed to do it eventually (i used the autoviewer format in iphoto export, but when I create a box to place the slideshow then insert the html link, it always cuts off part of the display of the slideshow- the bottom is shaved off. I have trioed resizing the box but it does the same thing.
Any idea why and what i could do?
Thanks in advance for any advice
    Ben (Brazil)

    Hi Varkgirl!
Firstly thanks for all your iweb tips on your page- loved them~! My first bits of html! Just a quick problem, in my autoviewer slidehow produced with webexport, the titles of the pics don't appear even though I have 'show title' checked. Any idea why?
    Congratulations for the work
    Cheers,
    Ben (Brazil)

  • Photos Distorted When Exported to iWeb Slideshow

I'm using the button within iPhoto to export a photo album to iWeb and then publish it to a folder that I upload to my web site. Unfortunately, the photos are pixelated in slide show mode. If I click on the photo to get it out of the slide show screen and enlarge it, it looks fine. Are there issues with resizing photos? I typically do 5x7 in iPhoto.
A good example is the middle photo in the second row titled "Hot Bodies". The edges of the white lettering and graphics looks horrible in slideshow.
    http://www.dennisvogel.com/photos/USGP2005.html
One thing I've noticed is that it looks much worse on my Windows machine than on my Mac. Both using Firefox.
    Thanks for any help.

Thanks for replying Terence. I've seen the problem on Mac and Windows, using Firefox or Safari. I've tried some other methods, but gotten similar results:
    * Using Aperture to publish from a gallery template
    * Using iPhoto to export a photo album to iWeb which I publish to a folder
    * Publishing from iWeb to .Mac web page
    * Publishing from iWeb to a .Mac Web Gallery
    - Here is another example
Are there issues with resizing photos? I typically do 5x7 in iPhoto, but have read Apple services are optimized to 800x600?
Tried posting to the iPhoto, iWeb, and Aperture forums, but no progress yet.
