IWeb stopped working

Upgraded iWeb to 1.1.2 and Aperture to 1.5 and iWeb hangs upon startup. I get no response from any button.
I really need to use it. What's going on?
Thanks for any help.

Try this first...
Delete the iWeb preferences file called "com.apple.iWeb.plist". It is found in your Users/yourname/Library/Preferences/ folder. Delete it and restart your machine. Then see if iWeb launches for you again.

  • IWeb stopped working with iCloud

iWeb stopped working when I moved to iCloud. The program loads but I can't access my websites and can;t add any new ones. Any ideas?

In Lion the Library folder is now invisible. To make it permanently visible enter the following in the Terminal application window: chflags nohidden ~/Library and hit the Enter button - 10.7: Un-hide the User Library folder.
For opening your domain file in Lion for the first time or to switch between multiple domain files  Cyclosaurus has provided us with the following script that you can make into an Applescript application with Script Editor. Open Script Editor, copy and paste the script below into Script Editor's window and save as an application.
Just launch the applicaiton, find and select the domain file you want to open and it will open with iWeb. It modifies the iWeb preference file each time it's launched so one can switch between domain files.
do shell script "/usr/bin/defaults write com.apple.iWeb iWebDefaultsDocumentPath -boolean no"delay 1
    tell application "iWeb" to activate
You can download an already compiiled version with this link: iWeb Switch Domain.
WARNING: iWeb Switch Domain will overwrite an existing Domain.sites2 file if you select to create a new domain in the same folder.  So rename your domain files once they've been created to something other than the default name.
Then make sure you're looking in the correct Library as Ethmoid pointed out.

  • TS2580 iweb stopped working during publishing

I added a couple new pages to my website and it stops publishing during that time.  I have to force quit and even restarting the computer doesn't help.  Any solution?  Thank you.

It really all depends of where you are trying to publish your website to and how?  Using iWeb internal ftp or publishing to a folder and using an ftp app to upload?
Not enough information given to be able to help.

  • Iweb quite working

Just updated to Mountain Lion Server and now my iweb stopped working! I have version 2.0.4 it says but nothing loads! I'm not sure what to do, I recently bought a bunch of themes from iWeb Templates and all of a sudden bam nothing is working. Any help would be great.
Thanks, if you need any extra info I would be glad to get it for you.

iWeb 2 is not compatible with Mt. Lion.  If you want to continue using iWeb you need to get iWeb 3.
However the following may allow you to open your current domain file with iWeb 2 but probably not be able to publish to a folder which is what you'll have to do in order to get it online.
In Lion and Mountain Lion the Home/Library folder is now invisible. To make it permanently visible enter the following in the Terminal application window: chflags nohidden ~/Library and hit the Enter button - 10.7: Un-hide the User Library folder.

You can download an already compiled version with this link: iWeb Switch Domain.
Just launch the application, find and select the domain file in your Home/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder that you want to open and it will open with iWeb. It modifies the iWeb preference file each time it's launched so one can switch between domain files.

  • Iweb rss feed stopped working

About a week ago all of my RSS feeds made through the RSS iWeb Widget stopped working. Some research brought me here: SyntaxError: Unexpected identifier 'any' (anonymous function) www.icloud.com:1
Is Apple not supporting it anymore? That would be a disaster
Message was edited by: Idiot Media

Well yes, the fact that Apple has not supported iWeb for the last 3 years is old news!!  Apple has not sold or supported iWeb for at least 3 years and iWeb has not been updated for at least 6 years.
The longer you continue to use iWeb and technology moves forward, the more likely you are to get things that don't work as expected.
Perhaps it is now time to ditch iWeb in favour of alternative software that is actually supported?
There is a lot out there - RapidWeaver, Sandvox, Freeway Pro/Express, WebAcappella 4, Flux V and EverWeb.
With most of these you can try before you buy.

  • Widgets stopped working in iweb

The Google Maps and RSS widget in iWeb just stopped working on my website.  Googleamaps says "Closed" and the RSS feed says it can't find it. Weird, my iWeb version is all up to date. Any ideas?

The Map widget hasn't worked since MobileMe shut down. I can be created in other ways. Go here for a step by step tutorial...

What system and iWeb versions are you running? What happens when you double click on the iWeb application when trying to launch it?

  • IWeb site suddenly stops working

    Hi folks,
I'm tearing my hair out here. I used iWeb to create my business website and bought my domain name www.spokenmotion.co.uk via a company called uk2.net. I use Mobile Me to host the site. I got everything set up with the help of my One-to-One sessions at the Apple Store in London. The other day I was updating and suddenly the site just stopped working when I re-published to my mobile me account. At first I got the dotmac page stating that the page may have been moved, changed, deleted etc but now the web browser doesn't even show this. Safari just says the page can't load.
Strangely, the 'Publish to Mobile Me' button has been greyed out ever since, but the 'Publish all to Mobile Me' one is still clickable. However, re-publishing this way does not help.
Went for another 1:1 yesterday at Apple Store. The guy says everything is fine from Mobile Me perspective. He blamed uk2.net, but everything looks fine on my control panel on their site and absolutely nothing has changed or been tinkered with. I'm using web diversion to send http://web.me.com/spokenmotion/SpokenMotion/Welcome.html to my domain name. UK2 claim the issue is with Mobile Me...but like I say everything seems to be pointing towards each other and the settings haven't been fiddled with.
I am a complete newbie to all of this and would be INFINITELY grateful to anyone who can explain to me what is happening here. Is this yet another screw-up from Mobile Me? The worst part is that my POP3 mailbox attached to this site has now also stopped working, so I'm missing essential emails daily. AAAGH!
I have just launched my business and have 20,000 flyers around London advertising a website and email address which don't work. Egg on my face isn't the word. Any assistance would be gratefully received.
    Thanks in anticipation
    Ian

    Thanks for your prompt reply.
Really stupid question, I know. But what is Apple Support? How do I contact them (I live in Britain)? Is there a charge?
Sorry, but I ordinarily only use my Mac for iTunes and the internet. It was a bold move of me to try and use iLife for my business..way out of my comfort zone I'm sorry for if I sound like a donut.
    Kind regards,
    Ian

  • Suddenly my GB-song iweb page stopped working (blue QT-logos only)

suddenly my homepage with my Garageband songs

    http://web.mac.com/purepeter/tracks/tracks2.html
any idea what is faulty? it worked for nearly 2 years like this, like a charm
at least one or 2 are loading (songs) but all others are disabled since 1 month or so.
i didnt change any of the songs
    thanks

    thanks
i had quicktime controllers before without saving from quicktzime pro.
and it worked. suddenly, or maybe i guess since the update of .mac at the end of 2007
they changed something that it is too much data, obviously.
i must reduce the filesize of the mp3s yes? i dont know any other method
that it shows all songs again...

  • IWeb Spell Check stopped working

I just noticed that iWeb stopped checking my spelling. When I navigate to the spell menu, the "Check spelling as you type" item is checked. When I try to just spot-check my spelling, nothing happens, and when I click on the "Spell" button, nothing happens.
Does anyone know what is going on?
I updated my software this morning - could that have had something to do with it?

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Delete the iWeb preference file, com.apple.iWeb.plist, that resides in your User/Library/Preferences folder, reboot, repair disk permissions and try again.

  • Links to slideshow stopped working on non .mac published site

I was helping my friend redo his website in iWeb. It was previously done in iWeb, and worked fine when published to a folder and uploaded to his verizon account.
Today, when we exported and upload none of the links on the photo gallery pages worked. Clicking a photo to enlarge it found a broken link, and the slide show stopped working too.
I thought I forgot to do something, so I uploaded the old version of the site. That stopped working, too.
    Am I missing something?

The Apple slideshow (the one built-in to iWeb) using the photo template is supposedly one of the ".Mac-only" features of iWeb. It uses some resources off the .Mac servers, so it probably won't work when the pages are hosted on other non-.Mac servers.

  • Bottom Line: Does iWeb '08 Work?

Like many others, I bought and immediately installed 08 the day it came out. I quickly converted my earlier site to 08, and then everything went downhill. It got to the point where everything I wanted to do needed some sort of workaround. I grew frustrated and went running back to 06, which was frankly, a brilliant and almost flawless release by Apple.
Now I want to ask, has it been fixed? Does it do everything it's supposed to, or does it still need a major update and a bunch of workarounds?

Almost never had any issues with iWeb, up until now that is. Right now, i'm getting a "An error occurred while publishing file “/Web/.Temporary Web Resources/487C5A9A-792F-4622-9EB4-ACD213DC63AF”. Try publishing again later." - error message, which is a new one, heh. Finally got the publishing my site to a folder and uploading my iWeb site to another host/server then Apples to work so at least now it's updated and running.
Perhaps they implemented more new features then they could handle coding properly, or they're just having some major server issues. My email stopped working for quite some time today as well and have been on and off for a while now.
Hopefully this isn't the beginning of a decline in Apple's .Mac service we're seeing. I doubt it, but things have been rocky lately with .Mac for me at least and i haven't gotten a single answer to any of my inquiries. A year ago, they usually got back to me within 2-5 days.

  • Welcome page navigation bar stopped working

I just made a few changes to my welcome page.  Not sure what happened but the navigation bar at the top no longer works.  It works on the other pages.  At one point I retitled the page to "home" and it seems like that may have screwed things up.  Now I can't figure out how to get it to work. Any ideas?  It is iWeb 3.0.4

figured out the problem.  I made some links on the welcome page to the same pages as the nav bar and made the bar stop working for some reason.

  • Search of Blog Stopped Working

About a week before the announcement of iLife '08, I noticed that my RSS searching stopped working. Apparently others have had this same experience. I know that this is a server-side feature, so I presume the problem is related to the server. I've tried deleting my entire site, uploading it again, removing RSS and Search, adding them again, and yet nothing seems to work.
At one point, removing the Search and/or RSS buttons made it impossible to save or publish my site. After upgrading to iWeb 2.0.1, I was able to remove them and add them again (hoping this would recreate whatever server-side files were possibly corrupted). However, it still doesn't work.
Does anyone have any insights or suggestions?

Just checking in... It's been a few days since I posted this question and nobody seems to know anything about it.

  • Iweb designs working outside MM

I am a heavy user of iweb, using iweb 09. I am dissapointed that apple have dropped iweb, and no longer seem to develop the app as it has so much potetntial.
However, i finally got round to buying a years web hosting space, and shared domain mapping folders (with some help from the friendly domian company 123reg-com. great help! cheers as im not tech savy really) and have moved all my sites to that.
I'm stopping using the host side of mobile me  asap - before they drop all us iweb users in the s•••
So..it works fine, gallery works, etc. no hit counters..but i can live with that. All on LINUX servers.
im not sure what horrors lay ahead, but i hear iweb 09 works fine on lion. I love iwebs design capability.
You can always save the html slides into folders, then FTP them to domain sites.
Lets hope we can keep using iweb.
please advise if you know of any lion problems on iweb use.

It is now known that iWeb, and iDVD, has been discontinued by Apple. This is evidenced by the fact that new Macs are shipping with iLife 11 installed but without iWeb and iDVD.
On June 30, 2012 MobileMe will be shutdown. However, iWeb will still continue to work but without the following:
Features No Longer Available Once MobileMe is Discontinued:
    ◼ Password protection
    ◼ Blog and photo comments
    ◼ Blog search
    ◼ Hit counter
    ◼ MobileMe Gallery
All of these features can be replaced with 3rd party options.
I found that if I published my site to a folder on my hard drive and then uploaded with a 3rd party FTP client subscriptions to slideshows and the RSS feed were broken.  If I published directly from iWeb to the FPT server those two features continued to work correctly.
There's another problem and that's with iWeb's popup slideshows.  Once the MMe servers are no longer online the popup slideshow buttons will not display their images.
However, Roddy McKay and I have figured out a way to modify existing sites with those slideshows and iWeb itself so that those images will display as expected once MobileMe servers are gone.  How to is described in this tutorial: #26 - How to Modify iWeb So Popup Slideshows Will Work After MobileMe is Discontinued.
It now appears that the iLife suite of applications offered on disc is now a discontinued product and the remaining supported iApps will only be available thru the App Store from now on. However, the iLife 11 boxed version that is still available at the online Apple Store (Store button at the top of the page) and those still on the shelves of retailers will include iWeb and iDVD. Those two apps were listed in small, gray text on the iLife 11 box that I bought.
Personally, if I didn't already have a copy I would purchase one to have it for reinstallation purposes if ever needed.
