IWeb templates cropping my photos

i am trying to cheat my photos on the the first available page under the "modern" template, as i do not like the format of the "photo" page.
however, even though my photos are photoshopped down to small sizes the photos are all cropped when i dropped them on the page.
why is that?
also, the bigger problem i have is trying to decide whether to do my site on earthlink or iWeb as i have 7 movies and it would obviously be easier to upload them right from iMovie to my website.
the movies range in length from 3 to 11 mins.
what is the best way to achieve the highest quality for viewing on my site?
i am very concerned that quality will be sacrificed as the class i took at my local apple store informed me movies will be 1/2 a second off (dragging) and such. my movies are all synced exactly with the music and this would be a problem.
thanks!

Try using the "Mask" or "Unmask" button at the bottom of the screen. I think your photos might be appearing "cropped" because of the masking function. When you drop the photo onto the Modern template, I think it is enlarged to fit a certain width and then a portion of it is masked off as a function of the template. You can adjust either or both the size of the photo as well as the area of masking. Try clicking a couple times on the photo area. The first click with select the mask...a double click will select the underlying photo.
As far as your movies go, iWeb is still more flexible than uploading to your iDisk from iMovie. For the best quality and smallest file sizes, you should use the H.264 codec with the MPEG-4 format. This will yield excellent results. You could have each movie on it's own hidden page and reference all three from a main "movie" page with hyperlinked images. Good luck!

  • No-go on photo-editing and positioning of a hyperlink in IWeb template -

Dear forum. I am currently building a little site on I Web - but have had some difficulties regarding - editing of pictures and the use of Hyperlinks in text.
    1) I have made the specific page on a template called :My photos. When I have pulled pictures from I Photo to the page I cant edit them by using the ADJUST button - it is like the picture editing is locked?
    2) Using the same template (My Photos) I can not make - words or text to a Hyper link ?
The very top-part of this page-template does allow me to edit a picture and or make a Hyperlink - it is when I get beyond the headlines and main picture.
How can I get by these no-go things ?
    Best regards J. Fohrmann
To see specific template used on my site go to www.fishmadman.com

iWeb has no HTML you can edit.
All code is in xml format and stored in theme resources in the iWeb application.
You can open these resouces and edit the xml code in any Plaintext/HTML editor.

  • IWeb '08  Color of Photos on a Photo Page

I installed iWeb '08 selected a template, choose the photo page, posted the photos but when I view them they are much darker and too red. Nothing like the original images.
I can't correct them using the inspector as it does not work for photo pages.
What can I do to display the photos in their original state? They look awful and I'm a professional photographer who uses iWeb to show clients my work.
I only have this problem since I installed '08.
    Thanks for your help.
    Mighty Dog

    reported this to apple.
hope they are gonna do something about it soon.
they seem to have switched to the belief, that
untagged rgb is evil rgb and has to be converted
    to some other profile....
it´s really a pitty - iweb 06 did it in correct way.
my web photo galleries have become worthless now.
    not professional any more.

  • Using iWeb Templates

I have found not only iWeb templates difficult to deal with, but also iPhotos.
Whenever I try to delete a certain saved area - a most important one - I cannot. If I select to utilize a photo template I cannot delete the photo area and when
I login to the website the slideshow puts up the template photos. This is very disturbing.
Also in iPhoto I cannot create a new folder or copy to an existing folder except the Library. If this is the case then why cannot I move photos to a newly created directory or folder after copying them to the library,
I am extremely new to MAC but totally competent with UNIX, LINUX, DOS, and all versions of WINDOWS, ( SADLY )!!
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Ron

    Ron:
Can you give us some information about what you're using: iPhoto an iWeb version, Quicktime version, the theme and page layout in iWeb, etc.
As far as dragging a photo into an album, where are you dragging from? If you're creating "folders" in the Source pane then yes, you can't drag a photo into them. Then will only take albums, slideshows, books, calendars, cards and other albums.
So instead of creating folders in the Source pane, create an album and put the photos into it. You can use folders to further organize the albums. But albums are the primary photo container (except for rolls of course).
What saved area are you referring to? If you've selected a photo page then yes, you can't delete the section that is used to house the photos for the slideshow. If you don't want that, create a new page with a different layout, Welcome, About me, or blank. Whichever works best for you. The blank lets you completely customize the page, background, etc.
    Do you Twango?

  • Create iWeb Templates

Can anybody tell me how can i create a n iWeb templates?

You can only be able to create real iweb template by create them in XML file. Here is a brief description: http://11mystics.com/tools/iweb/create-iweb-templates/
using a blank page (as mentioned) will get you just a blank page (with your layout), nothing spectacular about that.
but if you want albums, photos, blogs and podcast template... you will need to create template XML file.

  • IWeb template copyright

So I am making a widget that is really more a of module or addition (Ie it requires several pages in its own right) that customers will be able to buy. As it is now, I have that widget embedded in an iWeb template, and this is how I would like to sell it. The majority of users will just take the widget's html/javascript code and put it into their own pages so no copyright issues there, but some of the less adept may just want to upload my widget, pages and all, and use them in their entirety.
    What do you think?
I went through all of the pages that I would like to pass on - I have trimmed out a lot of the apple javascript as it really is not cross-browser capable and is fairly bloated. The code of the pages I would like to pass on mention nothing of copyright except for navbar.js which says:
    "// iWeb - navbar.js // Copyright (c) 2007 Apple Inc. All rights reserved."
A few of the other ones just say:
    "// Created by iWeb 2.0.4 local-build-20100911"
So maybe I can't use navbar.js, but I am fine with the other ones? What does all rights reserved mean here? Really appreciate the help. Not a lawyer and have no desire to be accosted by one. Thanks again. The answer may be in the license agreement, but I really don;t feel qualified to interpret that.

  • Scan in mutiple photos in one file, can I crop multiple photos...

    at same time?
I don't know how to scan multiple photos as distinct file. I scan 5-6 pics it comes out at one file that I import into iPhoto. While it's very easy to crop each photo out of the file, I have to import the file as many times as there are photos
    to crop.
I hope I've been clear. Is there a smarter way to work. I don't see a way to scan
the 5-6 pics as different files in my scanner software.
    Thanks

    Joshua:
Vuescan is a 3rd party scanning application which can do batch scanning but is a little more difficult to set up. It works with most scanners.
If you have a Canon scanner you can scan in multiple photos at one time and have the scanner software crop, not as close as I'd like, each one individually and present to you in the editor of your choice or the one that comes with it.
    Do you Twango?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've written an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • After I have cropped a photo how do I save it.  Something is wrong, my computer will not let me close photoshop

I cropped a photo and saved it as a TIFF.  I can not close down photo shop or burn the photo to a disk.  How do I save the photo once I crop it?

Use the menu option File>Save As. When you close photoshop, it should have asked you if you want to save the file. If photoshop does not ask you and refuses to close, odds are something else is wrong.
First try resetting the preferences. (ctrl-alt-shift for windows and cmd-opt-shift for mac as you start photoshop) If done right it will ask you if you want to reset the preferences.
Next thing to do is uninstalling then reinstalling photoshop.
If that still does not help, then it may be time to contact Adobe.

  • Using the crop tool in Lightroom 5 I can only move and crop my photos from the top. Am I doing something wrong?

I am new to Lightroom 5 and find I cannot crop my photos as easily as I did in iPhoto. I would like to be able to drag them if I choose a custom size or crop them from the bottom as well as from the top but my two sided arrow disappears when I work at the bottom of the photo. Am I doing something wrong?

I would suggest you trash the prefs.
    Quit Lightroom
Launch Finder and find the user Library by clicking the Go menu whilst holding down the Optn (alt) key (n.b. the library is hidden until you press the optn key) and inside the Library folder select the preferences folder. Then trash the following file:
    com.adobe.Lightroom5.plist
    Then re-launch Lightroom
It’s then worth clearing each cache. Go to the top menu bar:
Lightroom >> Preferences >> File Handling (tab)
Click the Purge Cache button under Camera Raw Cache Settings; then click the Purge Cache button under Video Cache Settings. Finally click OK.

  • How can I automatically crop a photo based on its content (a black border)?

    I scanned hundred of negatives.
The scanner produced .jpg files.  Most of the scanned images show the negatives holder to one side as a black border.  The black border is thicker or thinner depending on the photo.
    Please see pictures attached.
Is there a way to automate the detection of such a border and remove it by cropping the photo?  Ideally I would like the processing to only remove the thickness that is required to keep the photo unaltered as much as possible.
I have Photoshop 12 and I know about Actions.  I just don't know how to tell the engine to only crop if it is required, and by how much.
This could save me days of manual work.  Thankyou.
    Environment Information:
    ·  I am running Photoshop 12.1 *64 bit
    ·  Windows 7 Professional 64 bit
    ·  Amount of installed RAM: 6GB
    ·       Scanner:  Canon CanoScan 8800F
    ·  Amount of free disk space:
                C:\ - OS and Software disk - Total size:139GB showing 20GB free
                G:\ - Data disk - Total size:1.81 TB showing 437GB free
    ·  Make/Model of Video Card: NVIDIA GeForce 9600 GT

Thank you miss marple for your Image>Canvas Size... suggestion.  I used it to implement a semi automated process.
I programmed a couple of actions:
    - one to trim all sides by 7 pixels
    - one to trim the top side by 7 pixles
Then I assigned a shortcut key to each action.
Since I have to open each photo individually anyway to remove larger scratches (see my other post), it is easy to hit a couple of keyboard keys to trigger the relevant 'border removal' action.
The main thing is that in 95% of cases I don't have to use the mouse to fix the borders, but I use keyboard keys only.  It is a real time saver.

  • In PSE11, how do I "crop" a photo into a circle?

I would greatly appreciate step-by-step instruction on how to "crop" a photo into a circle in PSE11.
I've created an invitation for my daughters 1st birthday and I want to add a circular photo of her on the invite, but I can't seem to figure it out.
I understand that I can't technically "crop" it but I need the image to appear to be circular by using the transparency feature.
    Again, I need a step-by-step as I'm still new to PSE11...
    Thank you!

I'm curious as to why reply#1 didn't work. That is basic PSE stuff. Was the selection still active with marching ants as asked in reply#3? Perhaps somehow the selection was deleted before doing the inverse.
If you do get that to work, note that you first must convert the picture to a "regular" layer by renaming it from "Background" to anything else. Then the deleted portion will be replaced by transparency. If you do the delete on the Background layer the deleted portion is simply replaced by the color defined in the background color chip on the toolbar.

  • How do I crop finished photo - PS CS 4?

Hello - I've finished a photo and have flattened all the layers, and even unlocked the new flattened layer, and now I want to crop this photo, but when I go to Image, the crop feature is grayed out - how do I crop away unwanted portions of this photo? Am running photoshop CS 4.
    Thanks in advance.

Right, you should make a selection first, and then the Image > Crop command is available:)

  • The cool little features in iWeb templates

    Hi all,
I was just wondering how to get the cool little add-ons that the iWeb templates have on my site?
For example, iWeb has scissors on one of the sites. Their are also others like.. doodles, post its, "hello, my name is" I know I can simply cut and paste, but I'm looking for additional add ons. is there a stock pile of these somewhere on the web or maybe on my mac?

You can add scrolling banner text, blinking text, mouse rollover, Fancy Zoom, Show and Hide text and many other enhancements.

  • Iphoto not printing full photo, cropping some photos

After I create a photo with pixilmator or any horizontial and export to iphoto, I can see the full photo, but when i print it cuts off the edges and only prints the middle.  I have tried selecting different sizes, changing horizontial view to vertical view, nothing works.  I had to print and send a copy of a licence, similar to a car registration format, and that too had the ends cropped out.  Please help.  so far i have to print photos from the pixilatore program or and adobe program, no problems there, only have problems with iphoto.  using epson stylus nx420.  Please help

As noted in the other thread you posed this question in you must crop the photo to the print ratio and then print - iPhoto does not "autosize" photos - if you try to print a 8x12 photo on 8x10 paper you will lose 2 inches - you have to precrop the photo to the size you want to print
